It's hard to believe that it has already been two years since Brian O'Driscoll hanged up his rugby boots.

But 24 months on, Brian hasn't stopped and is currently getting ready for a new business venture.

Standard!

"This is the saddest news I have ever had to report to you. Franca Sozzani, the Editor of Italian Vogue for 28 years, died today in Milan after a year-long illness with her son Francesco by her side.

"Franca was one of the greatest Editors who ever made a magazine. She was by far the most talented, influential and important person within the Condé Nast International organisation."

Franca was certainly not shy about breaking boundaries in the fashion world and wasn't afraid to include pop culture in the fashion industry.

She will definitely be missed.

We all have our own special Christmas traditions with family and friends, and it looks like the royal family is no different.

The former chef of the Queen has opened up about what Christmas is like with the family, and how from year to year, everything basically stays the same.

On the 19 or 20 December, the Queen will travel to Sandringham House in Norfolk, with the rest of her family travelling up to meet her on Christmas Eve.

Darren McGrady was former chef to Queen Elizabeth, Diana, William and Harry, and according to Delish, this is exactly how they spend the day.

"All the Christmas gifts get placed on trestle tables for each member of the royal family. Christmas morning, the family eats a hardy breakfast before heading off to church.

"After church, that's when they have a big lunch that includes salad with shrimp or lobster, and a roasted turkey, and all of your traditional side dishes like parsnips, carrots, Brussels sprouts and Christmas pudding with brandy butter for dessert.

"They stick with the same meal year after year. Once they've eaten, everyone sits down and watches the Queen's Christmas speech. Afterward, they all go their own way before coming together again for afternoon tea and traditional Christmas fruitcake, then they gather again in the evening, where a buffet dinner with 15-20 different items awaits them.

"It's always a buffet with the chefs at the table carving. They don't do appetisers on Christmas, instead, appetisers and canapes are reserved for New Year's Eve."

Well there you have it. Do you have any traditions that are the similar?

If you've ever found yourself retracing your steps to double-check that you've locked the front door or unplugged the straightener, then you know how debilitating it can be to constantly second-guess yourself.

While you may be 99 per cent certain you flicked that switch, the remaining 1 per cent gives way to an anxious mind meaning you won't be able to make it through the rest of the day in peace if you don't double check.

If you're worried about the amount of time you spend worrying about issues like this, then it's worth trying some tips and tricks which may help to put your mind at rest.

1. Speak your mind

Take notice of what you're doing as you prepare for the day ahead.

As you actually remove the plug from the socket in the wall, describe your actions out loud.

Yes, you might sound odd, but you'll remember doing it, right?

2. Snap a pic

You might remember unplugging various appliances that morning, but as the day goes on doubt sets in, doesn't it?

Head that doubt off at the pass by snapping a pic of the appliances in their unplugged state before you leave the house.

Again, it's not exactly conventional, but it's a failsafe way to reassure yourself.

3. Take note

If lists give you peace of mind then why not create a list of general concerns that arise throughout the day, and pin it on the back of your front door?

Tick each item before you open the front door (providing you have actually attended to them!) and then take that list with you.

Not only does it ensure against anything you may have forgotten, but it also provides you with tangible evidence that all is well back home.

4. Give yourself time

Nothing helps to create doubt in an anxious mind, than a morning that was spent rushing from start to finish.

If you anticipate a busy day ahead and know you're likely to experience flashes of doubt about that morning's routine, give yourself an ten extra minutes to double-check everything before you set off for the day.

5. Speak up

Remind yourself that an anxious mind should not be part and parcel of life.

If you have employed various tips and tricks to assuage your anxiety, and still find yourself consumed by a sense of fear or impending doom you should chat with a professional who will be able to offer you further advice and support.

If your new years resolution is to get back on the horse, as they say, when it comes to dating, this app could be for you.

While the concept is all kinds of wrong, the My Horse Prince app is an actual thing, with a resounding five star rating from all of its reviewers.

The app is a game where the player wines dines and… eventually entwines with a human/horse hybrid.

The choose-your-own-adventure game is based on a ranch full of attractive anime men, where the player stumbles upon a horse with a man's face called Yumma.

You can chat, feed Yumma carrots and generally just have a good time before deciding whether to fall in love or not.

The app is gaining popularity in Ireland, according to data analytical site Apptweak.com

Popular or not, it kind of gives us the creeps. We'll stick to Tinder (which also gives us the creeps).

Anyone who is prone to urinary tract or kidney infections will know that the onset of symptoms can be uncomfortable at best and agonising at worst.

And the worst part? Symptoms can hit you out of nowhere, feel like a tonne of bricks, and render you physically and emotionally exhausted because chances are you've done everything in your power to avoid one.

Wearing cotton underwear, wiping from back to front (Seriously? As if we didn't know that), peeing after sex and popping cranberry supplements is all well and good until you're struck down with another infection, right?

While seeking medical attention is advised, there are some things you can do at home which will help alleviate discomfort until you're seen by a practitioner.

These remedies are not miracle workers, but they're significantly more appealing than crouching on the bathroom floor and wondering why God has forsaken you.

1. Drink water.

Yes, it can be demoralising to be told the same thing over and over, and when an infection needs antibiotics, it needs antibiotics, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get proactive with the H2o.

If the urge to urinate is constant and intense, it helps if your bladder is full, right?

No amount of water will get rid of an infection, but it will ensure you're not left hovering around a toilet with nothing to pass despite what your bladder might be suggesting.

2. Add bicarbonate soda to water

Bicarbonate soda helps remove the stinging sensation you feel when you're attempting to urinate while suffering from an infection.

Adding a spoon of it to a glass of water helps to neutralise the acidity of your urine, and ultimately makes trips to the bathroom a lot less painful.

3. Stay warm

Placing a heated pad between your legs works wonders and helps to alleviate the uncomfortable feeling you often experience before the antibiotics kick in.

Similarly, placing one on your back or lower stomach is one of the simplest ways to relax while in the height of an attack.

Again, it won't make your infection disappear, but it will offer a huge amount of comfort and if anyone needs comfort, it's someone with a UTI or kidney infection.

4. Listen to your body

While you know there is no way your bladder is as full as it's suggesting, the urge to urinate is strong and you have to listen.

So, even if you've been to the bathroom two minutes ago, go again and accept that you might only pass a teaspoonful, but at least it's something.

Yes, it's hideous and painful, but it's preferable to wetting yourself, right?

5. Take note

Not only does taking note of your symptoms and the regularity of attacks help take your mind off the pain, it's also incredibly useful information to provide your doctor.

Write down how often you get infections, the medication you have been prescribed, the home remedies you have used and the changes you have made to your lifestyle since experiencing these symptoms, and set it aside for your GP appointment.

This information is vital if you are susceptible to infections, and want to seek further investigation into the matter.

6. Take a shower or bath

UTIs and kidney infection can leave you feeling cold, shivery and fragile.

Taking a shower or a warm (fragrant-free) bath helps to keep you warm and comfortable until the meds can kick in good and proper.

And remember, if you have been suffering from recurring infections, and feel like your symptoms need further attention, insist on tests from your GP.

Your practioner can take urine samples and vaginal swabs which will help determine what caused the infection, and what you might be able to do in the future to protect against further infections.

While you might feel that sunglasses are slightly out of season, there's actually been no better time to don a pair of shades.

There is a certain air of 'notions' about anyone who wears sunnies past September under any other circumstances than driving, but with this winters bright and blustery feel, we think the time has come to shun social norms and embrace a pair of sclera saving shades.

And we're seriously so sick of squinting in the low sun while simultaneously shivering from the cold. Something has got to give.

1. ASOS

Winter can be a bit glum, so make a statement with some sculptured shades.

The marble detail on these makes them a fashion bloggers dream. They'll definitely get the likes on Insta.

2. Topshop

If you want to grunge up a slightly stuffy sartorial season of ruffles, embroidery and Victorian collars, opt for some John Lennon-esque subtle shades.

The best thing about these bad boys is, if you have managed to maintain them by summer, they are ideal for the festival season.

3. Ray-Ban

Designer shades are an investment, and somehow every summer rolls around and we still don't have the funds to make the leap.

If you happen to have the cash to splash in the winter and spring months, why not do your investing now? After all, a well made pair of designer shades will see you into summer and beyond.

4. & Other Stories

Winter sun requires a little less coverage than the blasting summer sunshine, so opting for a pastel hue over black is totally viable.

Experiment with your colour palette and brighten up a gloomy winter wardrobe with a whisper of pastel pink.

5. River Island

The perfect hangover shades.

This blacked out, oversized pair will shelter your tired eyes as well as their surrounding dark circles after you've hit the gin and tonics a tad too hard over the festive season.
