Nail biting has long been considered one of the worst bad habits you can develop, but all that might be about to change as a new study has revealed that having a cheeky chew might actually be good for you.

Researchers in New Zealand have found that children who bite their nails or suck their thumbs are less likely to develop allergies than those who don’t because all that under-nail bacteria we’ve been so long warned off actually seems to have a strengthening effect on the body’s immune system.

The investigation – which has been published in the Pediatrics journal – is based on the hygiene hypothesis which states that the more germs and bacteria you are exposed to in childhood, the stronger your immune system is likely to be in adulthood.

The study – which involved 1,000 people – assessed thumb sucking and nail biting habits at ages five, seven, nine and eleven and tested for allergies in 13 and 32-year-olds.

Almost one third of the children involved were found to be regular thumb suckers or nail biters and these children were significantly less likely to be allergic to dust mites and pets in their teens than their non-nail biting counterparts.

This effect was also found to last into adulthood but does not apply to asthma or hay fever at any age.

While there are still obvious disadvantages to biting your nails, the study does show that even the worst of habits can have their benefits.

They have denied rumours in the past, but now it has surfaced that Taylor Swift was the brains behind This Is What You Came For.

The track by Calvin Harris and Rihanna originally named Taylor as a co-writer, but the credit list later changed her name to Nils Sjoberg, which is believed to be Ms Swift's pseudonym.

However, now TMZ is reporting that is was the song that had Taylor and Calvin at "breaking point."

Biggest video in the world right now!!! 36m views in 5 days!!!!! Thank you so much @badgalriri

According to the site, while Tay Tay and Calvin were still dating, she came up with the song and did a demo on her phone.

Then after forwarding it to Calvin, the couple hit the studio and did a full demo with Taylor singing and Calvin on the beat. They later realised if they released it together, it would be more about them and not about the track.

So in the end, Calvin recorded it with Rihanna. However, on the day of the release, Calvin was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest, and when asked if he'd ever record with his then-girlfriend, Calvin said: "You know we haven't even spoken about it. I can't see it happening though."

TMZ claims that this was the "breaking point in the relationship," and that "Taylor was hurt and felt Calvin took it too far."

It was just days afterwards that Taylor was spotted dancing the night away with Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala.

The website also alleges that Taylor's squad want to reveal the truth behind the track because "they're sick of Calvin trashing Taylor and feel he should be thanking her for quietly giving him a smash hit."

Just weeks after Jennifer Aniston grabbed headlines all over the world for reportedly boasting a burgeoning baby bump, the former Friends actress has again grabbed the attention of the global media.

And despite what multiple media outlets around the world might have hoped, the Hollywood heavy-hitter did not break her silence on the issue to confirm the reports.

Dismissing the reports in no uncertain terms instead, Jennifer called on the media to reevaluate the image they have of women – famous or not – and consider the impact societal pressures have on the younger generation.

"The sheer amount of resources being spent right now by press trying to simply uncover whether or not I am pregnant (for the bajillionth time… but who’s counting) points to the perpetuation of this notion that women are somehow incomplete, unsuccessful, or unhappy if they’re not married with children," she wrote.

And like millions other women around the world, Jennifer's essay has struck a chord with former Girls Aloud member, Cheryl, who showed her support on social media this morning.

Taking to Twitter to share the actress's essay, 33-year-old Cheryl wrote: "Just when I thought I couldn't love her any more."

Having been married twice, Cheryl, who is now in a relationship with 1D's Liam Payne, is no stranger to speculation when it comes to starting a family.

And like Jennifer, Cheryl has seen her changing appearance used as tabloid fodder since her rise to fame in 2002.

Agreeing with the Fight For This Love singer, a fan of the star wrote: "She speaks so much truth. It's ridiculous what you both have to put up with to do what you love."

"She's so inspiring isn't she? She's said it right," added another. "I just wish other people could understand such a simple concept."

Jennifer's essay can be read in full here.

We all grew up watching ad after ad of Barry Scott shouting out his catchphrase – "BANG and the dirt is gone!"

Annoying, yes, but let's just say we grew to love Barry and his over-the-top cleaning ways.

So, it's a real shame that he's been axed from the Cillit Bang ads, and a new hot young thing has taken his place.

To be fair, the new guy is slick AF and has some killer dance moves (he was once a back-up dancer for Madonna) so we won't totally object.

We quite like the new advert, but Barry Scott and his catchphrase will always stay close to our hearts.

A Twitter post which Kanye dedicated to his mother on her birthday has social media users in bits today.

Sharing a photo of himself and Donda, who passed away in November 2007, Kanye made reference to the impact her passing has had on their family.

Now a father-of-two, Kanye explained that the granddaughter Donda never got a chance to meet had asked if she could visit her grandmother in heaven.

"Nori asked if the airplane could take her to heaven to see you for your birthday," Kanye wrote in the post which has been liked and retweeted more than a quarter of a million times in the last seven hours.

Exceptionally close to his mother, the world-famous rapper added 'I love you mom' in the moving upload which fans have responded to in their droves.

"Aww that's so sad and sweet she is resting now in peace looking over your guys being a beautiful Angel RIP," wrote a fan of the star. "Happy Birthday."

Other fans uploaded footage of the pair together, with one writing: "Thank you for the son you raised so beautifully. Rest Peacefully."

Let’s be honest, Jamie Dornan is a ride in anyone’s language.

And while fans of the Irish star have long since known he’s more than a little easy on the eye, that doesn’t stop them coming over a little hot and bothered every time he gets his kit off.

So the moment footage of him filming the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey hit the internet today, social media users unsurprisingly wasted no time sharing their thoughts on Jamie’s ‘breathtaking’ physique.

Wearing nothing but a pair of swim shorts – he was on a beach in France after all – 34-year-old Jamie channelled his inner Mr. Grey, and prepared to shoot an outdoor sex scene with his co-star Dakota Johnson.

And while many actors might avoid filming such intimate scenes in the presence of their real-life other half, Jamie, on the other hand, harboured no such concerns and invited his wife, Amelia, along to the set.

It looks, however, like fans of the star had less interest in Jamie's laidback approach to the scene, and feared more for each other's wellbeing after exposure to the glory that is Mr. Dornan.

They have a point, in fairness.

Let's be fair, even if they annoy you and a shiver runs down your spine when the Kardashian name is mentioned, the girls have style.

Yes, they might have the odd fashion blunder every now and then (who doesn't?) but most of the time, they look slick AF.

So when Kylie wore a Pretty Little Thing dress to the brand's recent launch party in LA, we couldn't help but look it up – and we were pleasantly surprised.

We thought it might have been one of the pricier ones, or a limited edition that nobody else could get their hands on, but nope, it's sitting on the website in all its glory for under 30 quid.

Coming in at €28, the wrap dress also comes in black, dusty blue and pink and will be a dream to style if you're heading anywhere fancy.

Do it like Kylie and team the dress up with a nude pair of heels and a gold choker for that sophisticated and sexy look.

But if you're not into all that, why not take a total U-turn and add a slick pair of black boots and leather jacket to the get-up?

Or if you're heading away on your holliers, go the complete opposite and dress it down with a pair of flat sandals and a floral kimono. Perfect beachy/summer vibes.

The reality star, whose first delivery was featured on season 2 of 16 and Pregnant, admitted that she's feeling a little more apprehensive the second time around, saying: "I feel more nervous for some reason! It's been a while and I want to do everything perfect."

When asked whether she and Cole had planned to have a child before their wedding, Chelsea responded: "Not unplanned! But happened faster than we expected! Super happy! We are very lucky."

Peter Andre decided to give his wife, Emily MacDonagh, a rather unusual wedding gift.

As we all know, paper is given on the first wedding anniversary, but instead of giving her a book, or a new journal or even a hand-written song (he is a singer/songwriter, right?), Peter opted to give Emily a photograph… of himself.

Part two coming soon…. Happy Anniversary My beautiful wife

Not even one with their daughter on it. Nope, just him (and we're betting it was one from his Mysterious Girl days).

Writing in his New mag column, Peter said: "As it's our first anniversary we're supposed to give each other gifts made out of paper, so I joked that I was going to give her a signed autograph – but I didn't think that was special enough, so I gave her a signed photograph instead."

Peter and Emily have a two-year-old child together and are expecting another baby this year.

With rumours swirling that Lamar Odom has relapsed and Khloé Kardashian has stopped paying his rent in LA, fans of the basketball star have hit out at Khloé for apparently deserting her husband when he needed her most.

And unsurprisingly, the reality TV star refuses to take this sarky remarks lying down and wasted no time hitting back at critics who comment on her personal life.

Taking to Twitter to slam Khloé for dating Treyz Songz, one of the star's followers wrote: "@khloekardashian instead of running the streets with Mr.!steal your girl. You need to be helping your HUSBAND."

Hitting back at her online critic, Khloé suggested she refrain from commenting on matters she knows little about.

"Stay in your f*cking lane little girl. You know nothing about anything," Khloé raged in a post which was liked more than 1,000 times. "You're a sheep herded by society."

Hitting back at the 32-year-old star, the Twitter user posted a montage of tabloid stories involving Khloe and wrote: "This is my lane, sis."

Railing against the KUWTK star, another Twitter user wrote: "You want us to keep up with yall but when we keep up..it's a problem get right sis."

"Truth! We are doing what u asked! Keeping up with you! #kanyeshrug," added another.

The tweet initiated a debate which raged back and forth for hours as some of the star's fans defended her and others called her out on her supposed hypocrisy.

Nobody seemed to notice over the past few weeks that Taylor's boobs seem slightly larger than usual. A good bra or a good boob job?

Well, like a few fans on social media, Ariel Winter seems to think it's a boob job and is all for the singer getting them done.

The Modern Family star, who went under the knife herself last year for breast reduction surgery, has publicly spoken out about body shaming.

A photo posted by Ariel Winter (@arielwinter) on

She told The Talk: "It took me a while to accept myself and I just hope that girls can learn to accept themselves however big or small their breasts are.

"And I have to say if Taylor Swift did get her boobs done then good for her if she felt like she wanted to.

Ariel also commented on her recent liking to tattoos and how no matter what she gets inked or where she gets it, she's shamed for it.

A photo posted by Ariel Winter (@arielwinter) on

"Everytime I post about getting a tattoo every single person has something to say about it – 'you should be getting tattoos, you're ruining your body, you're destroying yourself even more, I thought you were pretty and a nice person, you're just trash'."

I think we can all learn from Ariel and just be happy with our bodies and ourselves. Be who YOU want to be.
