Vicky Pattinson has cautioned fans of reality television shows such as Love Island against writing hateful comments online about individual contestants, emphasising that their words have direct consequences.

The TV star referenced the two suicides of Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon following struggles with mental health, emphasising the fact that these television personalities are human.

The star has faced online vitriol as a result of her roles on Geordie Shore, Ex On The Beach and I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, so she has a level of empathy for those who essentially become famous overnight.

Posting an image of the two former Love Island contestants to her Instagram, Vicky wrote;

"What do you see here?! Let me tell you what I see; two beautiful, charismatic, fun loving and young people who should have had the world at their feet and their whole lives ahead of them. Instead, they left this world all too soon not knowing just how loved they were."

"Now I haven’t managed to catch any of this year’s Love Island. I’ve barely been in the country since it started. But I still read the news, follow the fan accounts, and my group chats still go off every time it’s on… what I’m saying is it is impossible to avoid the reality TV juggernaut." Vicky continued.

She added;

"I just want to say I think the show is great- and I’m friends with so many of the ex-Islanders who I love a lot. But today I made the mistake of reading some people’s comments on social media when I couldn’t sleep and I’m not going to lie I was both shocked and saddened by what I read."

Love Island bosses have stepped up mental health services for the contestants, and even cite 'mental health pressures' in the contract.

Vicky warns those who use social media to use caution, and remember that the contestants do read the hateful things written about themselves online;

"Regardless of who your favourite is on this show, who you ‘ship’, who you want to win, if you’re mad that someone’s left, or angry someone stayed, no matter what you actually may think or be saying in your group chat with your mates I urge you to be more mindful across social media."

The show has come under immense scrutiny after two Islanders took their own lives when their time on the show ended, and the emphasis on body image or physical appearance can cause mental health stress.

"Have we not witnessed the detrimental and irreversible affect our thoughtless words and reckless opinions can have on someone’s mental health?! Why are people still attacking these islanders with such verbal vitriol?!" Vicky said.

"Do you know them personally?! Of course not! Have they done anything to warrant it?! No way. Are they human?! YES! These people are no different to you and me and they have feelings and these hateful comments with have ramifications we can’t even begin to understand."

Mike Thalassitis, who appeared on Love Island 2017, was found dead in a woodland park near his London home in March. Questions arose about the show's aftercare following the 26-year-old's death.

32-year-old Sophie Gradon died in June of 2018 after struggling with depression. The former Miss Great Britain took part in the show in 2016. She was found dead by her boyfriend, who took his own life 20 days later.

She explained to a friend that she 'wanted to escape' and had 'sold her soul' to appear on the infamous ITV2 show.

Despite these deaths and warnings to be careful of what you write about reality stars online, Vicky pointed out that the hateful vitriol has continued.

"It’s so ludicrous to me that after everything that’s happened this past year I’m still having to urge people to be kind but here we are. We have lost too many people and I know this isn’t confined to the world of reality TV."

She added;

"Through the callous words of individuals, online hate and cyber bullying we are breaking people, destroying them and it has to stop. Think before you type. Your words have gravity.

"Please be better than this internet culture of hate. Do not allow it to breed. Be kind, be compassionate. Be human. Let’s put the ‘love’ back in Love Island for Sophie & Mike."

Spencer Matthews has been know for his unfaithful reputation, but one of his cast members reckons Vicky is going to break Spencer's heart.

The reality duo only starting dating a couple of weeks ago, but the bets are already on for who will cheat on who first. Not the best way to start a relationship, huh?

While speaking to Closer magazine, Spencer's right-hand man Jamie Laing said: "I think maybe she'd be the one to cheat on Spencer!

"It's hilarious because I don't think anyone cheats on him – he always gets there first."

Even so, Jamie still has high hopes that Vicky and Spencer work out:

"I think she'd be good for him. She's an amazing chick and would be good for anyone! I've met her a few times. She is beautiful and super fun and I am excited to see what happens."

We're excited too, Jamie. Now, hand us the popcorn because we can see drama in our midst.

Designer wardrobes, amazing cars and champagne-fuelled parties. These stars have come a long way from their humble reality TV beginnings, but just how do they afford the A-list lifestyle?

As part of its annual Reality TV's Richest list, The Sun has tallied up what many of the world's most well-known stars are worth – starting with a few you most definitely recognise from your hungover Sunday TV viewing.

Read on, and prepare to feel all the life envy.

Charlotte Crosby – €1.4million

It's been a very successful year indeed for Ms. Crosby, who has seen her worth soar since launching her own fitness DVD off the back of her extreme weight loss. Charlotte's 3 Minute Belly Blitz twice outsold Disney's Frozen in UK DVD sales when it was released late last year.

Add that to a €100k book deal for her autobiography Me Me Me, plus a €70k appearance fee for Ex On The Beach, and you've got a tidy sum building up in Charlotte's bank account. The Geordie Shore star has also appeared on The Xtra Factor, Britain’s Got More Talent, Celebrity Juice, This Morning and The Wright Stuff among other things.

Vicky Pattison – €2.3million

She might count Charlotte among her biggest rivals, but Vicky is definitely taking the lead in the money stakes. As well as a six-figure deal for her own clothing range with style site Honeyz.com, Vicky took home a reported €700k for a three-book deal with the Little Brown Book Group.

The Geordie Shore star has published an autobiography, Nothing But The Truth, plus two fictional novels, All That Glitters and A Christmas Kiss. Like Charlotte, she earned around €70k for her work on Ex On The Beach, and got close to €500,000 for her MTV show, Judge Geordie.

Millie Mackintosh – €4.2million

One half of Britain's most on-trend power couple, Millie wed rapper Professor Green in 2013. Like other entrants, she has raked in quite a bif of cash from her book deal – the Made In Chelsea star's lifestyle and fitness book Made saw her take home around €175k.

She also has her own self-named fashion line which sells via her personal site and on ASOS.com – and according to The Sun it's turning over in excess of €1.5m per year. The stunning blonde is the face of Nib & Fab beauty products and J20 fruit drinks, as well as having worked on campaigns for Pimm’s, St Tropez, Sure, Lipsy and Claire’s.

Gemma Collins – €4.6million

She might not be the most reliable of celebs – who can forget her dramatic exit from I'm A Celebrity... last year, after all – but Gemma certainly knows how to negotiate. Critics laughed when she decided to set up her own plus-size clothing range, but it's now sold via Littlewoods, Evans and her own personal site and generates around €1.7m a year for Emma.

Aside from her ill-fated time on I'm A Celebrity, Gemma also does regular work on This Morning.

Sam Faiers – €6.4million

Expectant mum Sam certainly won't be struggling to kit out her newborn in all the best designer clothes. As well as (you've guessed it) a book deal, Sam also rakes in a huge amount of cash from her various fashion ventures.

Among them is the Essex boutique she launched with her sister Billie, Minnie's Boutique, thought to be earning Sam close to €1.4m in online and in-store sales annually. The TOWIE alum has her own clothes deal with Very too, worth a reported €400,000.

Mark Wright – €7.4million

When your wedding alone earns you over €2million with Hello! you know you're doing well.

Mark's €400k DJing deal with Club Classics helps to play the bills, plus he also pulls in over €10k per club appearance – handy money for a night out. The reality star has recently signed a six-figure deal with Danone, too.

X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini believes that body-shaming should be made illegal so it probably wasn’t very wise for ANYONE to comment on the singers weight – but Vicky Pattison went ahead and remarked on Ms FV's weight anyway.

After suggesting that Cheryl should head down to highstreet baker, Greggs, and get herself a pie, the former Geordie Shore was viciously trolled by the star’s loyal fans.

27-year-old Vicky – who has had her own weight struggles – defended her comments after she said: "Get yourself down to Greggs for a pie or a stottie cake. Get yourself to Newcastle pet, chill, have a night in with a Chinese."

But Vicky didn't realise how much criticism she would get from Cheryl's fans.

“I got shamelessly trolled by all of Cheryl’s soldiers. I understand that opinion about the nation’s sweetheart was going to be controversial but I didn’t mean it to be horrible,” Vicky told the Daily Star Sunday.

“The abuse I got was ridiculous. It was like I was a national hate figure.”

She added: "Cheryl is one of my favourite celebrities. All I said was she was a little bit thin and should go to Greggs."

“I wasn’t trying to body-shame her but all her fans jumped down my throat.”

The Geordie Shore cast is known and loved by TV viewers for a great many things: turbulent relationships, wild antics abroad, and outrageous flirting.

However, in more recent times, the female cast members have also gained notoriety for their incredible body transformations.

Marnie, Charlotte, and Holly look incredible right now

Indeed, Charlotte Crosby, Holly Hagan and Marnie Simpson (as well as former Geordie Vicky Pattison) have all shed a load of weight over the past 18months – something that prompted co-star Chloe Etherington to kick-start her own fitness programme.

The 20-year-old admits that she piled on 2st filming the as-yet unaired new series of the hit MTV reality show on the Greek party island of Zante.

Ms Etherington reveals she knocked back calorific cocktails and even scoffed pizzas topped with… spaghetti Bolognese!

Understandably, the combination was a diet disaster and earlier this summer she says she felt seriously self-conscious.

"I wasn't happy with my body after filming the new series," explains Chloe.

"I had a bit of a jelly belly and I had put on some weight around my hips. I wasn't comfortable at all showing off my body."

With Geordie Shore series 11 airing this autumn and a load of promotional gigs already lined up for it, Chloe seized her chance, embarking on a tough exercise and healthy eating schedule.

Today, she is down to 9st 7lbs from a high of 11st just six weeks ago.

"I feel confident about joining the other Geordie Shore girls on the beach. I like wearing the skimpiest bikinis you can find. I don't like tan lines!" she laughs.

And Ms Etherington admits that seeing her co-stars’ perfect figures provided all the motivation she needed.

"What I love about Charlotte, Holly and Marnie,” she explains, “is that they all look amazing but they still kept their curves and have a bust.

"I very much wanted to preserve my curves."

She adds: "I feel like I have my Goldilocks body now – not too fat, not too thin, just right!

"I didn't want to lose too much weight because if you get too skinny it starts coming off your bust.

"I'm very happy with with my 34C figure.”

Chloe also states that she embarked on her weight-loss and fitness regime with the help of Forza Supplements.

She ditched the fast food and cocktails and combined five work-outs a week with a personal trainer and a low-fat diet.

The Kylie Jenner look-alike recalls: "It's been six weeks of hell but I am really glad I did it.

"Now I've got the beach body I always wanted and I cannot wait to catch up with the other Geordie Shore girls and swap a few weight-loss tips."

In the past, Charlotte, 24, has lost 2st 7lbs – going down from a size 16 to a size 8 in just six months.

Holly, 22, shed even more weight – 3st – slimming down from a size 16 to size 10, and achieving her dream weight of 9st 10lbs.

And Marnie lost 17lbs in a just month after becoming fed up being branded the show's ‘fat lass’.

Chloe continues: "There is no magic formula to weight loss – you have to put in the hard graft.

"But I found that Forza's Raspberry K2s worked well with my new diet and exercise regime.

"They gave me more energy ahead of a work-out and accelerated my weight loss."

Chloe Etherington is a brand ambassador for Forza supplements' Raspberry K2 capsules which are available in Ireland at branches of Lloyds pharmacy.

Chloe's diet before her new body blitz

  • Breakfast: Fried egg sandwich with white bread. Tea with three sugars.
  • Lunch: Jacket potato with cheese and a chicken bake.
  • Dinner: Spaghetti Bolognese pizza!

Chloe's new diet on her Forza weight-loss programme

  • Breakfast: Porridge with water.
  • Forza Supplements' Raspberry K2 supplement followed by 60-minutes work-out with her personal trainer Ian Guildford.
  • Lunch: Grilled chicken and broccoli. Some days she would have a Forza Lipowhey Protein Shake instead of a meal for lunch.
  • Dinner: Poached haddock and sweet potatoes.

It seems like things took a turn for the worse for poor Vicky Pattison this weekend.

Having enjoyed an evening out in Pangeo Club in Marbella, the reality TV star spent the rest of her night in a hospital in Marbella.

According to reports, the stunning brunette was partying in the Spanish resort when emergency services were called to the popular venue and decided that the 27-year-old should seek medical attention.

While a representative for the former Geordie Shore star confirmed their client had indeed been hospitalised, they refused to elaborate any further.

Having excitedly tweeted about her upcoming trip to celebrate her pal's hen do, we can't imagine how Vicky must have felt to end up in hospital halfway through the festivities.

And if we thought the star herself would shed any light on the episode, we were sorely mistaken as Vicky made no reference to the night's event when she tweeted fans the following morning, merely saying: "Amazing night in @ PangeaMarbella for @ SintillateMarbs with the gorgeous @ DeanSintillate!!! Thanks so much guys!!"

Commenting on the episode, a source revealed: "The police were there to look after her and nobody was charged."

Well, as long as Vic is OK, then that's all that matters, right?

It’s been a few weeks since it was reported that Vicky Pattinson had blasted her old friend Charlotte’s fitness DVD – something it seems she is now denying.

Charlotte retorted to Vicky’s comments saying that she had nothing bad to say and was surprised that Vicky had said anything bad to begin with.

Now it seems the two Geordie Shore lasses have put their differences behind them! Vicky spoke to The Mirror when she divulged all on their friendship:

“I feel a bit cornered by this. I love Charlotte. And yeah she’s done a few of the same things as me. But we are from exactly the same background. There are certain doors that get opened for you. Ex on the Beach, a fitness DVD and an autobiography just happen to be a few of them.”

Despite Charlotte going down a very similar path to Vicky, and becoming even more successful in doing so, Vicky says it’s all good between them: “I’m not mad. I love her … Me and Charlotte texted about it, and she asked if I’d been saying all these things about her. And I was like: ‘no mate, I wouldn’t in a million years.’ And she seems fine with it.”

Phew – we’re glad to hear all is good between these two, although Vicky is sounding a small bit bitter about Charlotte’s career choices so far!

Vicky Pattison has had a busy few months, releasing a fitness DVD after embarking on a healthy lifestyle and going from a size 16 to a size six.

However, her recent comments about former Geordie Shore co-stars Charlotte Crosby and Holly Hagan have left us somewhat stunned!

Both Holly and Charlotte have lost weight also and have been promoting their new healthy lifestyles on Twitter and Instagram. On top of this, Charlotte’s fitness DVD 3-Minute Belly Blitz has sold phenomenally well, even outdoing Frozen DVD sales!

Now, it seems Vicky is feeling the competition from the girls and has said to MailOnline that she is very worried they will be skinnier than she is: “I wish the girls every success. I’m just petrified they are all going to get skinnier and better looking than me.”

Vicky also credited herself with getting the girls into a healthier mindframe, saying: “I like to think I inspired and helped them out. When I first lost weight, they were asking me how I did it so I would get up in the morning and make them train with me. Misery loves company, so if I was doing it, I was determined to get them involved and look at them now, they look incredible.”

While it’s great that Vicky is showing her support for the girls, we hope she knows it isn’t healthy to compare herself and her body shape to others.
