royal wedding

The eyes of the world were placed firmly on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle yesterday when the royal couple tied the knot in a spectacular ceremony at Windsor Castle.

However, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have little time to celebrate and are reportedly putting off their honeymoon as royal duty calls.

The newlyweds will make their first official engagement as husband and wife this Tuesday at a garden party for Prince Charles' 70th birthday – but it's their international schedule that we're most excited about.

According to The Irish Independent, arrangements are being put in place for a royal visit to Ireland in the coming weeks, though the trip will not be the official honeymoon.

Sources told the newspaper that the Duke and Duchess are likely to attend a series of engagements over the two-day visit.

For security reasons, details of royal trips are normally kept under wraps until a short time before, though a source did say that Dublin "will possibly be the first foreign trip after their wedding."

We can't wait to welcome the Royals!

The world has been waiting with baited breath for the reveal of Meghan Markle's wedding dress – and the time has finally arrived.

Ascending the steps of St Georges Chapel, the Duchess of Sussex looked glowing in her stunning high-necked gown.

The boat neck style was complimented by her natural makeup and she could barely keep the smile from her face as she entered the church.

The dress was simple and elegant, with a slim fit skirt free from embellishments.

As for the designer, it was created by British designer Clare Waight at French fashion house Givenchy.

The dress also featured long sleeves.

A long, trailing, sheer veil added an air of mystery to the look.

The look was completed with a stunning wrap-around tiara perched on top of a sleek up-do.

The wedding dress has been kept a heavily guarded secret during its creation.

Prince Philip's attendance at the royal wedding has been up in the air ever since the 96-year-old underwent a planned hip operation in early April.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said that the Duke of Edinburgh was 'in good spirits' following the surgery, according to the Guardian. He was discharged after 11 days in hospital.

Last week, the 96-year-old was seen in public for the first time since the surgery. Town & Country reports he was photographed in a car at the 75th annual Royal Windsor Horse Show.

This latest appearance sparked hopes that the Queen's husband would be able to make it to the ceremony. Now Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Philip will see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot, according to People

We're sure Harry is ecstatic that his grandfather can make it to the big day!

At first, it seemed that the father-of-four may have to miss out on the ceremony, with a Kensington Palace spokesperson telling the Mirror recently that they wouldn't know if he was well enough until 'closer to the time'.

It's good to hear Philip has recovered enough from the surgery to enjoy the festivities.

Health issues have certainly taken their toll when it comes to the attendance of close family members.

Thomas Markle, Meghan's father, will not make it to the royal wedding because of his own health.

The 73-year-old told TMZ that he was going to have open heart surgery on May 16, preventing him from making it to the ceremony.

"Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health," Meghan said in a statement released by Kensington Palace.

We wish Thomas a speedy recovery.

Yesterday Meghan Markle confirmed the sad news that her father, Thomas, will not attend the royal wedding tomorrow.

The 73-year-old was originally going to walk his daughter down the aisle but is no longer able to.

"Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding," Meghan said in a statement released by Kensington Palace, "I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.

"I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to share our special day with you on Saturday."

Now it's been revealed who will be accompanying the former Suits star as she walks down the aisle on her big day.

The 36-year-old actress asked her soon-to-be father-in-law Prince Charles to take on the job.

The 69-year-old seems happy to fill the role. A statement from Kensington Palace on the matter reads, "The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way."

As well, he has no daughter of his own, so this may be the Prince's only opportunity to take part in this long-standing tradition.

We look forward to seeing them walk together arm in arm tomorrow!

With the royal wedding happening this weekend (we will be glued to our screen, how about you?), we are getting quite excited about all the details and while Meghan's dress reveal is certainly going to be peak excitement, we are also eager to find out the look of the wedding cake.

It is Claire Ptak, an east London pastry chef, who is in charge of baking the organic lemon and elderflower wedding cake incorporating "the bright flavours of spring", according to Kensington Palace. The tasty creation will be covered with buttercream and adorned with fresh flowers, which is probably the biggest decorating trend of the moment.

If you are getting married this year (or if you just love staring at gorgeous cakes, like we do), you might enjoy some fresh inspiration. We have scrolled instagram to find out about the emerging wedding cake trends which might be the next "buttercream and fresh flowers".

All eyes are on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they prepare to tie the knot in the ceremony of the century on May 19.

From the all-important dress to the larger than life flower arrangements, we're dying to see how the big day plays out – but it seems not everyone feels the same way about the upcoming nuptials.

In a handwritten letter addressed to Prince Harry, Meghan's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, insisted it's not "too late" to call off the wedding.

According to In Touch magazine, the 51-year-old, who has not seen his sister since 2011, claimed that Harry and Meghan's marriage would be "the biggest mistake in royal wedding history."

"As more time passes to your royal wedding, it became very clear that this is the biggest mistake in royal wedding history," he wrote.

"Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you."

Thomas, who did not receive and invite to the royal wedding, referred to Meghan as a "jaded, shallow, conceited woman," and told Harry she would make "a joke of the royal family hertiage."

He continued: "Not to mention, to top it all off, she doesn’t invite her own family and instead invites complete strangers to the wedding. Who does that?"

"You and the royal family should put an end to this fake fairytale wedding before it’s too late."

Speaking to The Mirror, Thomas insisted he was not hurt over the invite snub – “I’m not bitter, just baffled. It’s hurtful given how close we once were.”

Neither Harry nor Meghan has responded to the letter.

There’s less than a month to go until the wedding of the year. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will tie the knot at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle on May 19.

We’ve been finding out all the wedding details as we inch closer and closer to Harry and Meghan’s big day.

We know what flowers the Suits actress will have in her bouquet, we know what the invites look like, we know what music they’ll have during the church ceremony, and now we finally know who will be Prince Harry’s best man.

Kensington Palace revealed that Prince William will be his best man at his wedding to Meghan Markle.

“Prince Harry has asked his brother The Duke of Cambridge to be his Best Man at his wedding to Ms. Meghan Markle,” Kensington Palace confirmed.

Harry served as best man to The Duke of Cambridge at his wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.

William said he is honoured to be Harry’s best man, “The Duke of Cambridge is honoured to have been asked, and is very much looking forward to supporting his brother at St George's Chapel, Windsor on May 19th.”

Prince William recently spoke about how they grew close after the tragic death of their mum Princess Diana. “Our relationship is closer than it's been because of the situation we've been through. Losing our mother at a young age it's helped us travel through that difficult patch together,” William admitted.

The Duke of Cambridge explained that supporting one another through the grieving process strengthened their relationship, “You're like-minded. You go through similar things, it's a bond and it's something you know you've tackled together and come out better for it."

William was 15-years-old, and Harry was 12-years-old when Diana lost her life following a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, in 1997.

So unless you've been living under a rock for the last few months, you'll know that Prince Harry is engaged to the beautiful Meghan Markle.

The pair will exchange vows on May 19 (we have it in the diary), and everyone is getting pretty excited about it.

Naturally, a lot of companies are jumping on the royal wedding bandwagon – with special edition product being released all ove the place.

Our favourite so far? It has to be the chocolate treats with the couple's faces printed on them.

To celebrate the Royal Wedding this May, ChoconChoc.co.uk have created luxurious white chocolate hearts featuring the royal couple themselves!

The chocolates are available free at Harry’s Bar in London, with every purchase of the ‘Harrypolitan’ cocktail (yes that is a thing) or can be bought online from Choc on Choc’s website for just £4.99.

Small price to pay for genuine joy.

The little white chocolate treats even come in a special box, making them a really cute gift idea for any royal enthusiasts.

However, if you're not particularly in to the whole royal wedding, fear not, as Chon on Choc have so many amazing creations.

For example, why not chow down on this impressive chocolate cheese board? No actual cheese involved, fyi.

Or what about a chocolatey 5-a-day?

Or, you could simply take a bite out of a Birkin? Yes please.

Ed Sheeran has reportedly been asked to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, the same day he is due to perform in Dublin's Pheonix park.

According to US Weekly, the singer has already been approached by the Royal couple, though it it not yet known whether her accepted the offer.

A source told the publication: “Prince Harry has personally requested Ed perform at his wedding”.

While this may come as one of the greatest honours of Ed's career so far, the news sparks disappointment for many Irish fans.

The Royal wedding falls on the same Ed is due to perform the last of three gigs scheduled for Dublin's Pheonix park, though given the short flight time between Dublin and London, it's possible that the 26-year-old could do both in the same day.

Kensington Palace announced earlier this week that the wedding ceremony will begin at midday at St. George's Chapel, followed by a private reception for close friends and family.

Ed is yet to comment on the news, but we're hoping the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity doesn't put the Dublin gig in jeopardy.

We could barely contain our excitement when we were greeted by a reunion photo of the Spice Girls on Instagram last Friday.

With rumours of a comeback tour circulating, we can’t help but wonder where the Wannabe singers will perform their first show.

According to The Sun, the girls have high hopes for their comeback performance.

"Geri suggested the Royal Wedding is a fantastic opportunity, and that they should offer to perform at the reception,” they revealed.

Apparently, Meghan Markle is a huge fan of the 90s pop band, so who knows, their reunion may be taking place in front of the Queen herself.

“The wedding fits in perfectly with Geri’s idea that the reunion should be very British. She sees it as a big of their identity, and one they should keep."

Picking a wedding band is usually tricky, especially when you have the entire Royal Family to please, however, we just can’t picture Prince William dancing along to Spice Up Your Life.

Speaking of their future, the girls stated, “The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together."

They added, "We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations."

Performing at the wedding of the year is one hell of a way to kick-start their reunion. Geri, Victoria, Mel C, Emma and Mel B have high hopes, but with Meghan Markle on their side, they may stand a chance of performing at the Royal Wedding on May 19.
