Many of us couldn't hide our surprise when news broke that Kim Kardashian is in training to become…a lawyer.

The make-up mogul and businesswoman is basically turning herself into Elle Woods, as she studies to become a fully-fledged attorney, but she has now revealed that her Dad was less than supportive.

Robert Kardashian, who passed away in 2003 when Kim was just 22, worked on high profile cases such as that of OJ Simpson's murder trial in 1995.

The famous lawyer advised his daughter to steer clear of the profession, instead of following in his footsteps.

In a preview for the new episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the 38-year-old said: "I told my dad years ago that I was really into criminal justice and he was like “This will stress you out so much, you do not really want to take this on.”‘

It seems Kim never quite forgot her desire to dive into law;

"I think now having gotten so deep in helping Alice Marie Johnson, I’m really motivated to get to know the law more and fight for people who deserve a second chance like her. ‘It really is overwhelming how much people do write. I do want to read and see if there are the right cases and what I can do to help."

Kris Jenner has a totally different view of Kim's profession wishes. In the clip, she is seen telling Kim; "I’m super proud of you Kim, you take this all seriously and I think that they’re lucky that you listen.”’

Her husband, Kanye West, is also extremely supportive of Kim's choices. Kim's studies over the next few years means that she has less family time on her hands to enjoy her personal life with North, Saint and Chicago, as well as their new arrival, who is due this month via surrogate.

The make-up boss gushed that Ye has been an absolute pillar of compassion.

"The fact that he is supporting me in this journey, knowing that for the next 4 years it would take time away from him and our kids, means a lot to me. And, gives me the confidence that I really need. ‘And that, like, extra push of someone around me to be like, “I know you can do it. You got this!”‘

Posting an image to Instagram a few weeks ago, Kim elaborated on her choice to register with the California State Bar to study law for the next four years, with 18 hours a week required;

"As my first year is almost coming to an end I am preparing for the baby bar, a mini version of the bar, which is required when studying law this way. I’ve seen some comments from people who are saying it’s my privilege or my money that got me here, but that’s not the case.

"I want people to understand that there is nothing that should limit your pursuit of your dreams, and the accomplishment of new goals. You can create your own lanes, just as I am. The state bar doesn’t care who you are. This option is available to anyone who’s state allows it," she continued.

"My weekends are spent away from my kids while I read and study. I work all day, put my kids to bed and spend my nights studying. There are times I feel overwhelmed and when I feel like I can’t do it but I get the pep talks I need from the people around me supporting me," she said, referencing her support system.

She also went into detail of the commitment which she has towards achieving her goal; "I changed my number last year and disconnected from everyone because I have made this strict commitment to follow a dream of mine – It’s never too late to follow your dreams."

Damn right, Kimmy. We support a #GirlBoss (just a general boss, really).

Two more women have come forward to accuse R&B singer R Kelly of sexual misconduct, dating back to when they were 15 and 16 years old.

The latest allegations are the newest in a string of claims against the singer going back three decades, spanning child pornography to sexual, emotional and physical abuse and holding women captive in a sex cult.

The duo spoke out against the notorious artist at a press conference with infamous women's rights lawyer Gloria Allred yesterday.

Both women allege that the sexual misconduct happened in 1995 after they attended an R Kelly and LL Cool J concert in Baltimore, Maryland.

One of the ladies said she was just 16 years old and living in the city when her and a 15-year-old friend, the other alleged victim, attended the concert.

They went to an after-party at a nightclub, and Kelly pointed to the two girls and asked his staff to put them onstage. They were also offered drugs and alcohol at the party, they claim.

The woman said Kelly asked the two girls to meet him in his hotel suite, and that he entered the room wearing jeans and a white t-shirt, with his penis “out and over the top of his pants”.

Apparently, Kelly asked both girls to dance and he ended up lying on the bed with them, telling them they could be in his next music video.

Next, the singer began touching the young woman's breast and genitals, and asked the pair to engage in a threesome. Her friend said no and went to the bathroom.

The woman said Kelly requested oral sex from her, which she did, and then he had sexual intercourse with her.

She had been under the influence of alcohol and marijuana that had been given to her at the after-party, and alleges she “did not have the capacity to consent”.

In Maryland, the age of consent is 16. The two women never saw R Kelly again.

Despite the huge range of allegations against the singer, his lawyer Steve Greenberg denied all accusations against Kelly, saying he has never knowingly had sexual relations with underage women.

A video-tape allegedly showing notorious R&B singer R. Kelly engaging in sexual activity with an underage girl has been discovered.

Attorney Michael Avenatti has released a statement declaring that the footage shows Kelly "engaging in multiple sexual assaults of an underage girl." According to Avenatti, the tape is "clear" and is 45 minutes long.

He said in his statement; "Our work has been painstaking, detailed, expensive, and time consuming. Mr Kelly is a predator and a criminal who has preyed on young, vulnerable girls for far too long. ‘The time has come for him to finally be held accountable for his actions."

American news publication CNN say they have viewed the tape, and claim the girl appears makes references to her "14-year-old p***y".

The man in the video reportedly asks her to urinate, and then afterwards he urinates on her.

Avenatti also claims that the new tape is NOT "in connection with the prior criminal matter in which Mr Kelly was charged nor does it depict the same instances of sexual assault".

The prosecutor’s office would neither confirm nor deny that an investigation was underway, a spokesman said.

Steve Greenberg , R. Kelly’s lawyer, wrote a statement saying: "This morning I woke up to reports that a video had surfaced showing R Kelly allegedly with an underage girl. The reports were prompted from a tweet by Michael Avenatti, who himself was the subject of unfavourable news articles just yesterday."

The statement continued; "Timing is everything. ‘The calls and emails I received were the first I’ve heard of these allegations. I understand that CNN says that they have seen this video."

"If the video were what it is claimed to be, by sharing it with CNN Mr. Avenatti would be committing a felony, as would the reporter who viewed it. I doubt if either would put themselves in that position. That combined with the other facts that I know lead me to question the reports."

Greenberg said; "I have not been contacted by anyone connected with law enforcement, nor has R Kelly. Mr. Kelly denies that he has engaged in any illegal conduct, of any kind whatsoever. He would like to be able to continue to write and sing and produce and perform."

He also mentioned the infamous Surviving R Kelly documentary on Lifetime, which shocked the world with dozens of sexual abuse allegations spanning 30 years.

"Unfortunately, as a result of a documentary that regurgitated long ago rejected claims, he has been adjudged guilty in the public eye. In this age of hashtags we are too quick to rush to judgement simply because something is associated with a hashtag."

It continued; "A hashtag does not make claims credible. All of the claims by these women were brought forth years ago, rejected by the police, and/or rejected by the courts, but now for their own gain they have rehashed them."

"Each of the women in that documentary are out for money, whether they have suddenly filed a lawsuit, they have all of a sudden released their own song, or they have written a book," he wrote, saying the woman who have accused Kelly are simply in it to capitalise.

"In this country people are entitled to presumption of innocence. Absent conclusive evidence, proof beyond reasonable doubt, I would ask that people follow the principles that make this country great. We will have no further comment," said the lawyer.

"Thanks to all his fans and their support. He will continue to work on his album," it concluded.

The singer only just announced a 2019 tour of New Zealand, Australia and Sri Lanka, after the documentary was released. He has been accused of having sex with girls as young as 14, and holding women hostage in a sex cult.

Kelly has continuously denied the allegations against him. Time will tell what this new evidence will bring to the shocking story.

Lady Gaga SLAMMED Dr Luke's lawyer during her deposition in September 2017, where she tearfully defended singer Kesha's allegation that Dr Luke sexually assaulted her.

The deposition was recently unsealed and released by The Blastwith the lawsuit centring around Kesha's claims against the music producer and her attempt to escape her recording contract with Kemosabe Entertainment.

The A Star Is Born singer's lawyer warned Dr. Luke's lawyer that Gaga was experiencing PTSD as a result of her own traumatic memories of sexual assault.

"I just want everyone to understand that, as she has publicly stated in other contexts, as a sex abuse survivor…there are trigger events, and this deposition has proved to be a trigger event for Ms. Germanotta."

Her lawyer stated; "She has experienced in the past few hours some PTSD reactions which is causing some trauma and emotional reactivity. So she is crying now, the record will reflect."

Dr Luke and Kesha's ongoing legal battle has been much-publicised, especially following the emergence of the Me Too era.

In the deposition, Gaga was requested to speak about how her and the Rainbow singer met, and what herself and Kesha spoke about after Gaga witnessed her in her underwear in Luke's studio.

Gaga explained;

"What we discussed was, what I recall was her immense sadness and depression and fear. She was visibly very different than when I had seen her before, and–but I can't say specifically what we spoke about. I just recall it was emotional and I wanted to be there for her."

Dr Luke's lawyer questioned Lady Gaga on her "personal knowledge or information as to any interaction" between the producer and Kesha, and if the incident has damaged his reputation.

Gaga elaborated fiercely on why she believed Kesha, who claims Dr. Luke abused her consistently.

In her own words, Gaga said:

"That was an image that–of something that happened to me, and I felt and knew in my heart that she was telling the truth, and I believe her….Yes, I do have knowledge. She told me he assaulted her…Well, you know–when men assault women, they don't invite people over to watch."

"And when this happens in this industry, it is kept extremely secret, and it is compounded by contracts and manipulative power scenarios that actually include this very situation that we are all in right now," she said.

When Gaga was quizzed about the possibility of being falsely accused of rape, Gaga hit back at the lawyer;

"You–how about all of the women that are accused of being liars and how she was slut shamed in front of the world, how about that?…I have factual knowledge of the spiral that I watched that girl go down."

"I have factual knowledge of trauma. I am informed and intelligent about this issue. That girl has experienced serious trauma and she is in the middle of the right now. And you are all a party to it."

Gaga became frustrated at the lawyer after he asked her if she was present when the alleged assault happened. She responded;

"Why on earth would this girl tell the entire world this happened? Why on earth? Do you know what it’s like for survivors? Do you know what it's like to tell people? Don't you roll your eyes at me. You should be ashamed of yourself."

Dr. Luke has since hit back at Gaga after she sat through the heartfelt deposition defending Kesha.

An attorney for Dr Luke said in a lengthy statement to The Blast: "Being passionate about a topic that concerns us all is admirable. However, Lady Gaga has no knowledge of what happened on the night at issue because she was not there."

It continued: "Kesha got kicked out of a party after drinking too much and vomiting. As an act of kindness, Dr Luke offered to allow her to sleep in his hotel suite, a few blocks away. Kesha slept on the bed in the hotel suite, while Dr Luke separately slept on the couch," the statement continued.

"Dr Luke testified under oath that he did not have any contact with Kesha. Kesha herself admitted under oath that she has absolutely no memory of Dr Luke even being in the hotel room."

"Kesha has no memory of Dr Luke engaging in inappropriate contact with her because it did not happen," it finished.

Lady Gaga has been outspoken of her repulsion of Dr. Luke and abusers in the industry, but has yet name her own abuser.

Erin Brockovich, the American lawyer and environmental activist whose life and career was the subject of a major Hollywood film, has reached out to the families caught up in the Berkeley tragedy.

In a Facebook entry posted last night, she said: “As a Californian, I am devastated that these young visitors to our shores were caught up in this horrific situation.

“My heart goes out to their families, friends, and loved ones, and along with all of the people of California, I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the people of Ireland.

“The waking nightmare that these families have been living for the past week is hard to imagine, and no words from me or anybody else can ease their pain.”

The 55-year-old is also calling for “immediate action on the costs for Berkeley families”.

She added: “Some of those injured would require extensive care before being able to return home.” Ms Brockovich furthermore explained that it was essential that families did not face the “additional nightmare of mounting medical bills”.

The lawyer has now made herself available to meet with and assist the families, and says she wants to help them find “a non-litigious solution in the coming weeks”.

She continued: “As a lifelong activist, I feel it is my duty to come forward and offer these families my assistance. For those who did not survive the accident, there is a need for us to uncover the truth about what happened.

“For those who did survive, there is a pressing need to ensure that the company responsible for this tragedy is held to account.”

Ms Brockovich added: “I will be calling upon those involved to do the right thing in an effort to avoid the need for prolonged and expensive litigation.”

Her calls are being supported by Dublin law firm Phelim O’Neill, with which she is working.

The Facebook post concludes by saying that she offers her “deepest sympathies” to the victims of the tragedy, “and to the people of Ireland”.

On this side of the Atlantic, Erin Brockovich is still best known for the 2000 movie of the same name. Starring Julia Roberts in the title role, the actress went on to win an Oscar for her portrayal.

Despite coming from a disadvantaged background and with no formal legal training, Ms Brockovich was instrumental in building a case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company 20 years ago.

She currently works for Girardi & Keese in the New York, and Shine Lawyers in Brisbane, Australia.
