bear grylls

From swimming in the buff to having insects for dinner, it’s pretty obvious that hanging out with Bear Grylls is nothing short of intense.

But have you ever considered what kind of effect such an experience could have on your body?

Appearing on Lorraine this morning, Made in Chelsea’s Ollie Locke revealed that while filming Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls his weight dropped to just under nine stone.

Ollie was one of ten celebrities who were sent to a remote island for the Channel 4 show and – according to the Mail Online – a combination of extreme hunger, intense physical challenges and dehydration allowed the group to leave the island 20 stone lighter than when they arrived.

Reflecting on a picture of his bony upper body, the 28-year-old reality star explained: “It soon creeps up on you that you don't have any food.  The dehydration is so severe.”

“When I left the island I was under nine stone, I was 11.5 when we started,” he revealed.

TOWIE’s Lydia Bright and JLS member Aston Merrygold also took part in the show.

Thankfully the experience was worthwhile as all the celebrities involved donated their fees to Stand Up To Cancer.

Remember that now legendary Friends episode where Joey is called upon to assist Monica after she was stung by a jellyfish?

Well, after years of wondering whether or not urine could actually cure a jellyfish sting, we finally have an answer courtesy of one rather unlikely pairing.

In a new clip from Running Wild With Bear Grylls, former Spice Girl Mel B is forced to pee on the show’s host after he received a nasty sting from a jellyfish he had picked up to assess for edibility.

The 41-year-old singer explained to the camera: “I’ve seen it in movies before where someone gets stung by a jellyfish someone has to pee on them.”

And so – in the words of Joey Tribbiani – Mel “stepped up” and asked the British adventurer if he needed her to pee on his hand.

After receiving confirmation that Bear was not in a position to perform the dreaded act on himself, Mel got to work with curing his ailment.

But their mission is quickly cast into doubt by a cutaway in which Mel tells the camera: “To pee on demand when someone’s in pain is very difficult.”

Unfortunately for all involved, the clip ends before it is actually confirmed that Mel does manage to overcome her stage fright and pee on Bear.

Then again, some things are probably best left to the imagination.

Bear Grylls seems to be better than any talk show host when it comes to getting information out of people.

The whole world was shocked at the end of last year when Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid called in quits on their engagement – just weeks before they were set to tie the knot.

The couple reconciled a few months later, but Court kept quiet about the whole thing – until now.

While on a hike with Bear, the actress opened up to him, saying: "We were engaged for over a year and then we broke up.

"There's something about… you know, he's from Ireland. And the way he regards love is precious," she said.

"We have to treat it in a different way. It's more special… you coddle it. I didn't know how to regard love the way he does.

"And I definitely made a lot of mistakes that I see, whether it's co-dependency or people-pleasing. I didn't know how to bring it in.

"It was always external. I definitely have learned a lot, and no matter what, I will be a better person from the break-up, even though it was so brutal," she admitted.

Hollywood may be all glitz, glam and gleaming smiles on the surface, but at a deeper level many of its best known inhabitants find themselves under serious pressure to defy the effects of aging.

In a new episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls former Friends actress Courteney Cox revealed that she was one such star.

During a rather candid conversation – which was filmed right here in Ireland – the 52-year-old actress told the British adventurer that she now regrets having experimented with plastic surgery in the past.

She said: “Getting older, I don't think that's the easiest thing.  But I have learned lessons.”

“I think I was trying to keep up with getting older and trying to chase that [youthful look].  It's something you can't keep up with.”

According to Vanity Fair, the mother of one did not reveal which procedures she’s actually undergone, but did admit that at times she was left feeling dissatisfied with the results.

Courteney said: “Sometimes you find yourself trying and then you look at a picture of yourself and you go ‘oh god, I look horrible.”’

“I have done things that I regret and luckily there are things that dissolve and go away.  So that's good because it's not always been my best look”

Thankfully it seems Courteney’s days dabbling with cosmetic enhancement are over as she has since adopted a more natural approach.

“Now I have a new motto,” she said.  “Just let it be.”

Last month, Courteney Cox went on an adventure with wildlife expert Bear Grylls.

However, as they made their way through the green grass of Ireland, Bear pointed out that they have to collect their dinner.

Not looking too happy, Courteney asked him what that was, and the adventurer lists out an "Irish menu" for her.

"Birds, if you catch them, worms, lots of, bugs, grubs, insects, flies, crickets, caterpillars."

Courteney didn't seem too happy about the "Irish menu" and said she rather eat grass than any of that stuff.

And to be honest, we don't blame her. Ewwwww.

Monica Geller Courteney Cox is in Ireland!

The actress has touched down on our fair green isle with her partner Johnny McDaid as she joins Bear Grylls in the wilderness.

Court shared a picture with her man which saw them standing on a balcony with the sea in the background.

She captioned the post: "In Ireland as my love @johnnymcdaid sends me off into the wilderness for the @beargrylls show. It's already raining!"

(Try living here 24/7 Courteney!)

The Friends star and Johnny were meant to marry in Ireland last year, but called off their wedding only weeks beforehand.

Hopefully she'll fall back in love with our country as she travels it with Bear!

Fan of Bear Grylls? Then you're going to be happy with this news.

If you've watched any of his shows before, then you'll know he has a true talent for beating the odds out in the wilderness – something that many of us wouldn't dream of doing.

But the wildlife extraordinaire is bringing his first live show to Dublin, and it promises to be a "thrilling" experience.

The show, titled Endeavour is going to recreate some of Bear's most gruelling stunts from his past challenges.

It will use state-of-the-art technology and an array of aerial stunts to show the real-life encounters Bear faces while on his adventures.

While speaking to RTÉ Radio 1, Bear told Ryan Tubridy, "I can’t wait to get back over to Dublin and Ireland. It’s been too long."

Irish model and DJ Vogue Willams seems to have had a very difficult time of it during filming for a new jungle survival reality show.

Vogue travelled to the Central American rainforest to take part in Bear Grylls' new show, Mission Survive, which kicks off later this month on ITV, and from the first promo clip it's clear she really struggled to cope at times.

The model will appear on the show, filmed over the course of 12 days, along with singer Jamelia, actor Laurence Fox, Max George of The Wanted, ex-England rugby player Mike Tindall and Olympic athlete Dame Kelly Holmes.

In the one-minute clip, the participants can be seen jumping into murky waters from their helicopter, scrambling up mud hills, and – in Vogue's case – refusing to eat live insects.

The model sounds panicked as she says "I don't want to eat it," while struggling not to cry.

While it certainly seems like it was a tough ordeal, not that she's back home Vogue is beginning to see the funny side of things. The model posted a screenshot from the promo clip of her with mud caked on her face along with the caption, "I love when my friends send me pics like this!!! Thanks @mrdanielkelly crying with mud on my face, never looked better! #missionsurvive"

The mastermind behind the show, Bear Grylls himself, admitted the whole 12-day experience was very hard on everyone but said he wouldn't have had it any other way.

"It was without doubt a tough expedition, but also a very life-enhancing adventure for everyone involved…I would set them daily survival missions and would then regularly back away, leaving them to their own devices, so that they would learn by doing it and making mistakes. That's the source of all genuine growth in a survivor."

Well done Vogue on coming out the other side – we can't wait to see the show!

Zac Efron has appeared on Bear Grylls’ new show Running Wild with Bear Grylls in which he opened up about his time in rehab.

Efron said the press did little to help his addiction with alcohol.

“The challenging part was never the work…it was sort of the in-between work. The socials aspects. Everywhere you go to an extent there is press.”

Speaking on the TV show, Zac said he needed a “social lubricant” to help deal with the pressures that fame brought: “Pretty soon, you need a social lubricant. It was getting to the point where I was caring less about the work and caring more about the weekend. I couldn’t wait to go out. And sort of let loose and have fun. But when Monday and Tuesday were difficult to get through, then I was like ‘ugh this is bad.’”

Zac didn’t hold back when it came to stunts on the show either, the brave actor went from eating a can of worms, to climbing a cliff side!

We rather you than us Zac!

Zac Efron proved once again, that he is man of many talents in latest episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls.

In the sneak peak above, the actor is seen abseiling topless down New York’s Catskill Mountains along with Bear Grylls, who also happens to be shirtless.

And that’s not the only scary stunt Zac does on the show, as other sneak peaks have shown the actor crawling on a tightrope to even free falling from a helicopter.

Fair play Zac, we rather you than us though!
