Conor Skehan, outgoing chair of the Housing Agency, claimed earlier this week that some people may be saying they are homeless in order to be prioritised on the housing list.

Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy responded to this statement with doubt, though, the Journal.ie reports.

I have no evidence in my Department of people presenting or trying to 'game the system',' Eoghan told the Journal.ie.

However, the Minister did not criticise Conor for making such a claim.

'He advises on Government policy and how he thinks it might be impacting.'

'It's fair enough that he can do that, that is his role. It is not for me to criticise him for doing that, it is important that we have different voices in this debate,' the TD explained.

In Conor's assertion that families are 'gaming the system', he referenced a 2015 measure in which half of all social housing allocations in Dublin go to homeless people.

However, that practice ended in 2016 in order to ensure that general applicants were not being overlooked.

People who are homeless are still given priority on the Dublin City Council's housing list, though.

'Conor was saying that that may have been an unintended consequence of previous Government policy,' Eoghan noted.

'My commitment is to make sure that we build as many homes as possible to make sure we get these people who are in very difficult circumstances into homes.'

Leo Varadkar has said that he would like to commit to investing in climate change in the coming years.

The Taoiseach would like to spend on tacking the issue of global warming rather than face hefty EU fines.

If Ireland does not increase its renewable energy sources to 16pc of all energy sources by 2020, we could face fines of €75,000,000 per year.

‘From 2020 onwards we’re heading into some pretty major fines for not meeting our obligations,’ Varadkar told The Journal.

‘I would rather spend money now on meeting our commitments than on fines from 2020 onwards.’

Currently, around 13pc of Irish energy sources are set to be renewable by 2020, Environment Minister Denis Naughten told The Journal.

Ireland is one of the few countries expected to miss the 2020 target.

The TV star told how this Christmas was extra special due to their growing family, “It’s been a really magical Christmas thinking, wow, we’re going to be a family of 5!”

The festive season may have been a real treat for Karen and her family, but the mum admitted that she has struggled throughout her third pregnancy, saying how it  "has been more of a challenge, probably with being older and having two kids already to run around after.”

Karen is already a mum to two boys- three-year-old Finn and JJ, who is set to turn two this year. The 36-year-old spoke fondly of her sons, “The close age gap is really benefiting them now. They’re your typical boys though, hugging one minute and killing each other the next!”

She told the Independent, “What I've learned is that we feel like we're being judged, but in fact, we don't judge each other really. When you meet another mum, you really just know she's doing her best."

We are absolutely thrilled for Karen and her husband John.

A 10-year-old boy in the US is making headlines after setting up the first ever drag club specifically for children.

Desmond Napoles, a self-professed 'drag kid' from New York, says he wants to create a “positive and safe place” for kids who wish to express themselves through the art of drag and hopes to spread the message that it's OK to “just be yourself.”

According to The Independent, Desmond realised he was gay at a very young age.

As a toddler, he would wrap long towels around his head and strut around the house in high heels belonging to his mother Wendylou.

Speaking to Out, Wendylou explained how her son's obsession with feminine clothing led her to believe he may have been transgender.

“When we was younger, we thought that maybe he was trans because of his strong preference for girls’ toys and wearing girls’ clothes,” she said.

Desmond has made quite a name for himself in the LGBTQ community, and has become somewhat of an icon ever since he wowed the crowds in a flamboyant rainbow dress at the NYC Pride Parade in 2015.

Now with over 15,000 Instagram followers, his work is inspiring people all over the world.

“We get messages from people, like in Colombia, saying, ‘We’re not allowed to be outwardly [in] drag or gay and it means a lot to see somebody that is’,” Wendylou told Out

Determined to put his growing social media presence to good use, Desmond created 'Haus of Amazing' – a safe haven for the LGBTQ kids of New York city.

“People should be able to be free and let themselves express how they want, whenever they want,” he said.

“Let them be [his or herself], and if you don’t like how people are, you don’t like yourself.”

The club has received a hugely positive response online with many Instagram users showing their support for the cause.

“Keep it going darling. You are truly amazing,” wrote one follower.

While another said: “Just discovered you recently but already so proud of you and i can't wait to see what's in store for you in the future xo.”

As more and more of Harvey Weinstein's victims found the courage to come forward, more and more families were left reeling by revelations which detailed the abuse their loved ones endured at the hands of the now disgraced movie mogul.

Coming to terms with the fact a woman in your life was the victim of a sexual crime is hugely harrowing – something Mira Sorvino's father articulated during a recent interview with TMZ.

Mira, who starred in Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion star alongside Lisa Kudrow, found herself blacklisted by Weinstein when she rebuffed his sexual advances – an experience she detailed in an article for Time.

The actress, who won an Oscar for her role in Mighty Aphrodite, was reportedly sexually harassed by Weinstein on a number of occasions – a revelation which has devastated her father, Paul Sorvino.

After being asked for his opinion on Weinstein's alleged campaign against Mira, Paul, an actor whose own career has spanned five decades, said “If I were to answer you, I might put everybody in jeopardy."

"But if I meet Harvey Weinstein on the street, he better, he ought to hope that he goes to jail because if we come across, I think he’ll be lying on the floor somehow. Magically.”

"Good for for him if he goes to jail because if not, he has to meet me. And I’ll kill the motherf*cker.”

Mira's account was first featured in Ronan Farrow's landmark exposé for the New Yorker in October last year.

Two of the music industry's biggest voices could be teaming up for an unforgettable duet.

Lady Gaga and Celine Dion may be at different points in their careers, but that hasn't stopped Celine from expressing her desire to team up with the Born This Way singer when she begins her Las Vegas residency later this year.

Speaking during CNN's New Year's Eve Live, the 49-year-old singer admitted she was a huge Gaga fan and her response when asked if she would ever consider duetting with her was a definite yes.

“Oh don’t get me started now. I would love that. I love her so much. I can’t wait. Come on, Lady Gaga, we’re waiting for you!”

With a current residency at Las Vegas's Caesars Palace hotel and a wealth of experience in the city that never sleeps, you'd expect the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker to be full of helpful tips for Gaga's latest career move.

However, Celine doesn't believe she has any advice to offer, saying that the star already knows what she's doing.

“Do I have advice for Lady Gaga? No! First of all, this girl knows exactly what she’s doing. She knows what to do. And I will never, ever, ever, in my whole life tell somebody professional, super talented like she is how to do things. I’m going to go see her show. When is she starting?”

Speaking about her upcoming Las Vegas shows, Lady Gaga revealed it was “a life-long dream,” adding that she was “humbled to be a part of a historical line-up of performers, and to have the honour of creating a new show unlike anything Vegas has ever seen before.”

We would give anything to see these two fierce females join forces!
