Calling all adorable puppers and their fabulous owners!

“Generation Pup” is an animal-friendly research project, and they are looking for puppy participants.

The study will be carried out by The Dog’s Trust, the largest dog welfare charity in the UK, and the University of Bristol.

It will observe canines as they grow from puppyhood to adulthood.

Researchers will monitor and study the health, welfare, and behaviour of dogs throughout their growth process. Sounds like a dream job, right?

They hope the groundbreaking project will teach us more about our canine companions and how they operate, leading to improved understanding of physical ailments and behavioural issues.

The research could also lead to better treatments and training procedures for our furry friends.

Suzie Carley, Executive Director at Dogs Trust, explained the potentially beneficial outcomes of “Generation Pup” further:

“This invaluable research will tell us so much more about our beloved canine companions, from behaviour issues to illness, and will give us a better understanding of the external factors that may dictate their entire lives.

“Not only will this study deliver vital insights on our dogs’ development from an early age but the results could pave the way for effective preventative measures to be put in place, or lead to new approaches for therapy or treatment for our dogs.”

The research project is asking dog owners across the UK and Ireland who have puppies 16-weeks-old or less to participate.

So, what are you waiting for? Sign up here to participate in improving our puppers' world.

Every day, over one hundred and fifty thousand bicycles share Ireland’s roads with two million cars, buses and trucks.

And as part of a new series, Now You See Me, RTÉ TV will be looking at the relationship on our roads between bikes and cars, which, at times, can be pretty fraught.

They will ask the question: "If we can see them and they can see us, why are we finding it so hard to share our roads?"

As part of show, producers want to get Irish drivers out of their cars and onto bikes to experience the roads on two wheels.

They are now on the hunt for “dedicated” drivers willing to swap their cars for a bicycle commuter experiment.

If you are interested in getting out from behind the wheel, getting some exercise and seeing what your commute is like on two wheels, then email your name, age and location in Ireland to info@oddboymedia.ie.

Include a line or two on your daily commute, what type of driver you are and your opinion of sharing the roads with bikes as well.

Vaping has become an increasingly popular alternative to cigarettes.

It isn’t uncommon to hear throughout the media that vaping is safer than smoking traditional cigarettes.

However, that doesn’t mean that e-cigarettes are completely harmless as researchers in the University of Birmingham have uncovered.

Their evidence suggests that vapourised e-liquid increases the production of inflammatory chemicals and disables key protective cells in the lungs that keep the air spaces clear of potentially harmful particles. – (EEK).  Even being a professional vaper, you should know about diversity of the best cbd wax (check here for more).

Researchers published the study in a journal, Thorax and found that the vapour impairs the activity of cells, called alveolar macrophages.

These protective cells are fundamental to the immune response within the airways.

Alveolar macrophages are responsible for engulfing and removing dust and bacteria.

Furthermore, they clear allergens that may compromise our respiratory defences.

“Our work clearly shows that vapourised e-cigarette fluid is toxic to living cells; increases the production of inflammatory chemicals; and inhibits the function of cells that are key to the immune system,” said Dr Aaron Scott, of the University of Birmingham’s Institute of Inflammation and Ageing.

Their work demonstrated similarities in cell behaviour when vapour was introduced, that is typically seen in traditional smokers and those suffering with the lung disease; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

“Importantly, we found that exposure of these cells to e-cigarette vapour induced many of the same cellular and functional changes in function seen in cigarette smokers and patients with COPD.

“While further research is needed to fully understand the effects of e-cigarette exposure in humans in vivo, we suggest continued caution against the widely held opinion that e-cigarettes are safe,” added Dr Scott.

The scientists hope that their findings will educate the general public of the negative effectives of vaping on human health.

Professor David Thickett, from same department in the University of Birmingham said: “cigarette smoking is associated with the cause of almost every lung disease – lung cancer, asthma, COPD and fibrosis.”

“It has been suggested electronic cigarettes are safer than traditional cigarettes, and this narrative is increasingly supported by tobacco companies that have established research institutes devoted to generating supportive data.”

“E-cigarette users have been given advice based on relatively little information. We hope that by disseminating this data as widely as possible the public can at least make an informed choice; the public must be aware these devices are not harmless.”

The professor also highlighted how the study shows that “dedicated funding and research” is needed to really evaluate the long-term health effects of e-cigarettes.

The researchers concluded that under laboratory conditions, the vaping process can damage vital immune system cells.

Vaping is still a relatively new habit, hitting the European markets in April 2006.

Much like cigarettes, this may be a case of only time will tell to really know the true extent of the good, bad and the ugly side effects of vaping.

Have the credentials to be an aesthetician? Or the skills to manage a busy team?

Thérapie Clinic, are launching a brand new, city centre clinic focused purely on injectable treatments, to meet Ireland's demand for fillers.

The Thérapie Aesthetic Clinic will open on South William Street next month, an area that's quickly gaining a reputation as Dublin's beauty epicentre, with an array of clinics, eyebrow studios and wax nail and lash salons.

A post shared by Thérapie Clinic (@therapieclinic) on

The clinic will be recruiting 20 new team members for the soon to open facility – so spruce up those C.Vs.

The clinic will only cater to those looking for injectable fillers and treatments, which is no surprise after the huge leap in the popularity of lip fillers.

The trend skyrocketed in early 2015, just after cosmetics queen Kylie Jenner admitted to her penchant for the procedure.

However, the current obsession with lip fillers is not limited to a niche market.

Indeed, women from all walks of life, from nurses and models to CEOs and students, are all opting to get in on the trend, but it's particularly widespread among younger Irish women.

'We've had unprecedented growth for Thérapie Clinic this year as we have grown our offering in both the UK and Ireland,' said Thérapie Clinic CEO, Phillip McGlade.

'We are opening the new Thérapie Aesthetic Clinic in a bid to meet rapidly increasing customer demand for Botox and fillers in Ireland.

We have seen this area of our business triple in the past few months, with thousands of new customers coming in over the summer for Botox and filler treatments.'

'To be able to launch an exclusive, facial aesthetics clinic is a great milestone for us and we look forward to working with new recruits and meeting new customers.'

Today, over 57,000 students will receive their Leaving Cert results.

This is the second year of the new exam grading system and it appears to make the overall process better for students. A total of six students received eight H1s. A further 7,490 have received at least one H1 each.

There has been a notable improvement in subjects like physics, math and chemistry.

One of the top three grades in biology also jumped from 39 percent to 45 percent this year.

However, the top-three grades in higher Irish and English are slightly lower compared to the 2017 results.

Richard Bruton congratulated students earlier this morning: “I would like to congratulate all those students receiving their #LeavingCert results this morning. You should all be very proud of the hard work you have put in and what you have achieved.”

He reminded students of all the different paths ahead of them: “There are more opportunities now than ever before to help you achieve your ambitions in life, whether you choose the apprenticeship, traineeship, further education or third level route.”

The Minister for Education also made sure to reassure students who may feel disappointed by their results. It’s vital to remind youths that these results are not the be all and end all.

“For students who may not have done as well as you hoped, don’t panic, take time to consider your options and remember that no matter what your results are today, there are opportunities for you,” he shared.

Good luck to everyone receiving their Leaving Cert results today.

You should celebrate your own results and acknowledge this huge achievement whether you get 600 points or 200 points.

Oh, Insatiable.

Where do I even start with you?

I think I'm like many others who only gave the Netflix show a go due to the almost-deafening roar of ''DO NOT WATCH THIS SH*TE'' that I seemed be faced with on every website.

Headlines ranged from ''Critics Say ‘Insatiable’ Is “Offensive” and “the Worst Netflix Original Series”  to ''Insatiable Is Dreadfully Unappetizing.''

Our review? Avoid it like the f*cking plague.

So let's start from the start – what is the show even about?

It centres on Patty Bladell, a formerly overweight high-school student in Georgia who – due to getting her jaw broken by a homeless guy – had it wired shut and lost a load weight as a result.

Now slim, Patty may have shed the weight but her horrendous personality has unfortunately gone nowhere.

By chance, she meets Bob Armstrong, lawyer and disgraced beauty pageant coach, who takes Patty under his wing and propels her towards pageant fame.

Bob is pointedly flamboyant (everything is pointed in this show btw) and in the first few episodes, is mistakenly accused of being a pedophile. (Yes, really.)

One of the main problems with Insatiable is that is doesn't seem to actually like it's main character – so how the hell are we supposed to?

Patty continually acts like a selfish b*tch – her actions show no regard for anyone but herself.

Phrases like ''skinny is magic'' that are bandied around definitely damaging but it is also the jokes that are racist, homophobic and sexist that I struggle with.

One of the few redeeming features is the Alyssa Milano, in her role as former-trailer-trash-turned-southern-belle-housewife Coralee, wife of Bob.

She is clearly enjoying the role here, but her storyline is simply as Bob's glam other half, who fancies his rival (also called Bob, keep up) and is jel of his young protegee, Patty.

Milano has defended the show, telling Vanity Fair,  ''the show is really a satirical look at what could happen if you do body-shame or bully someone and how that trauma affects their life. It’s also about how looks can be deceiving, an exploration of body image, about finding validation, and the desire to fill a void within ourselves.”

After over 200,000 people signed a Change.org petition to cancel the show due to what they said was a fat-shaming plot-line, creator Lauren Gussis gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter.

She explained that the show is not meant to be offensive in any way, stating, ''I wanted to poke at all those issues through comedy. But every single one of the issues that these characters struggle with -from eating disorders to body dysmorphia, to sexuality to needing outside power and validation, to wanting to be perfect, to mental illness – I have struggled with every single one of those things.''

She continued while ''everyone is entitled to their own opinion'', and in relation to the fat-shaming language that is woven throughout the show's narrative, she explains that it is the reality of what actually happens.

''I think we're in a real danger of censorship if we decide that we all have to tell stories in a certain way so that everybody else feels safe,'' she says.

Does she have a point? Should we be showing the brutal honestly that sometimes people do horrible things and say horrible things? Do we want to watch a show about that?

There are people who agree with Lauren, loved the show and have taken to Twitter to demand why it's taken so much flak.

One fan wrote, ''Insatiable doesn't fat same but instead shows that losing weight doesn't’t magically take away all the deep rooted problems that comes with body confidence issues.''

Another said, ''after watching more episodes, I wonder if a lot of people are upset with #Insatiable because it's holding a mirror up to themselves and forces them to see the reality of how cruel the world still can be….maybe they are even contributing to it in ways they didn't even realise.''

So what do I think?

I think that the show's intentions didn't come from a place of malice, and Lauren was aiming to explore issues like sexuality, body image etc. through satire.

My problem with it? It just doesn't work – and there are only so many jokes falling flat that I can take.

Netflix has a lot of worthwhile shows on it – Insatiable just isn't one of them.

Love is fab – there's all that smooching, sexing, mutual understanding and trust.

And we're thinking you'd need a lot of the latter to go through with what we're about to discuss today.

According to a new study from Porch.com on leaving the honeymoon phase of a relationship, there are a few things couples get comfortable doing around each other that we would rather not think about.

First up – popping one another's pimples.

According to the study, conducted on over 1,000 people, men are okay with allowing their partner to pop their zits at around 10 months in to a relationship. Excuse us while we vomit.

Women are quite a bit more reserved where it comes to dermatological digging – women in relationships are only okay with mutual pimple-popping at around one year and eight months in.

Fan of leaving the bathroom door open when you're in there doing your business?

Men are okay with their partner witnessing their restroom recreation at around 11 months in, while women are down with it one year and two months in.

An open door is one thing, but one year one month and one year two months in respectively, people are cool with their partner sitting in the bathroom while they use the toilet.

Equally, both men and women were happy to fart in front of their partner at nine months in.

Time on my own is a rare luxury – busy gals, do you feel me?

As a young parent, journalist, and fitness junkie, my days are jam-packed.

And given my schedule, it’s entirely fair to say my nail care is firmly last on my to-do list.

Day One

I was unfazed about my non-existent routine; after all, I was already caring for my skin and hair… not to mention another human being too.

On the odd occasion that I did treat myself, my nails would be a hot mess in two or three days with peeling and chipping – so I gave up.

That is until I spoke to nail guru Marian Newman at a CND Shellac Luxe event.

To say that my nails were an embarrassment is an understatement.

I continually apologised to the nail technician, who I believe has magical powers.

She turned my "children nails", as my sister has kindly nicknamed them, into professional, gorgeous-looking nails.

Granted, my nails aren't anywhere near the amazing specimens that are featured on my Insta-feed – I am just your average 20-something-year-old with normal nails.

Day One

I selected Shellac Luxe 'Satin Slippers' which is a nude.

It's ideal for work and mum life as it is chic and sophisticated but strikes a feminine and pretty look.

An added bonus was Shellac Luxe promised not to destroy my nails and it could be removed in 60 seconds – (YES, 60 seconds!)

Additionally, given the science behind the formula and the 'Wiggle' technique, I was told I'd be well equipped for everyday life without chips or breaks.

The TEMPTATION is reallll #CNDLuxe

A post shared by CND (@cndworld) on

I won’t lie: I was VERY sceptical.

I am hard on my nails in general: I play tag rugby, attend Zumba and lift weights four times a week.

I use a push scooter to get to work (laugh now, but they're unreal) come rain or shine, and life with my four-year-old includes A LOT of painting, parks and hikes.

Week Two

However, this is how I got on with Shellac Luxe.

During the three weeks I had it on, I really put it to the test, and I have to confess – I was surprised.

My first chip came in the second week as I was lifting with a bar and caught my nail.

The rest of my nails maintained beautifully well until the end of the experiment though.

Week Three after scooting into work

The biggest thing I didn’t anticipate was how much I loved looking at my hands when my nails were done – I had forgotten what it felt like to have nice nails.

You can guarantee I was lapping up the nail compliments too.

CND were honest about the removal process which I did on my own, and I was SHOOK.

By the time I had finished wrapping the last nail, the first one was ready.

My nails were perfect, no damage or stress to the nail bed after three weeks of Shellac – I was very pleased.

I even got my nails done AGAIN, and I fear that I may become a nail junkie after this experience – please pray for my bank account.

If you're interested in trying out Shellac Luxe, you're in luck.

They've added 14 new shades for us to obsess over.

CND gives you beautiful Shellac with no compromises – even for those of us who have demanding lives and commitments.

Before Beyoncé began slaying it on the stage, there was the iconic voice and moves of Aretha Franklin.

The whole world has been holding their breath since the legendary singer fell “gravely ill.”

The 76-year-old was recently put in hospice care at her home, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Beyoncé, as one of the singer’s biggest fans, has been especially affected by the news.

While on tour with her husband Jay-Z, they performed in the Queen of Soul’s hometown of Detroit, Michigan.

Surrounded by so much love for the iconic singer, Beyoncé had to take a moment to recognise the tragic situation.

She dedicated her performance on Monday to Aretha Franklin, and the crowd responded with a roar of applause in tribute.

“We love you,” the young artist spoke for Aretha fans everywhere.

Beyoncé also thanked the soulful singer for her “beautiful music”, reported Detroit Free Press.

There were over 40,000 people present at the concert in Ford Field, and they all cheered along as DJ Khaled played “Respect” at the beginning of the performance.

The Press also pointed out that Ford Field is just down the street from Aretha Franklin Way, which was dedicated to the legendary singer just last summer.

The heartwarming tribute acted as a “passing of the torch” from one generation of singers to the next.

However, no one will ever compare to the “Natural Woman” that has carved the way for African-American, female singers everywhere.

Other celebrities continue to pour out their love and prayers for the ailing artist.

Mariah Carey recently tweeted: “Praying for the Queen of Soul” with a classic photo of the singer.

Missy Elliot also urged fans: “We MUST CELEBRATE the Living Legends while they are here to see it.”

We continue to wait for news of Aretha’s condition, but we are happy that she has her family beside her and overwhelming support from her fans during this difficult time.

If you're anything like us, you grew up watching Sabrina Spellman in Sabrina the Teenage Witch navigating the murky waters of teenhood coupled with the pressures of casually being a half-witch.

The iconic series was one of our favourite shows back in the 90s, so you better believe we're expecting big things from its' resurrection – and the first look is finally here.

The series is set to be a lot darker than the original show, taking inspiration from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics, as we can see from the newly-released images.

The spellbinding series will follow the life of young with Sabrina as she grapples with her newly discovered powers.

The dark coming-of-age tale will see Sabrina adapt to life as half-human and half-witch.

Filling Melissa Joan Hart's shoes will be Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka in the Netflix adaption.

Riverdale writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and director Lee Toland Krieger are set to work on the pilot.

The Riverdale spin-off is set for release on October 26, just in time for the spookiest time of year- Halloween.

The first season of the thrilling show will feature ten episodes.

This must-see video perfectly captures what it’s like to have an Irish name.

It features comedy sketch group – Just These, Please – in a hilarious musical parody of Destiny Child’s “Bootylicious.”

As the three of them walk into an American coffee shop, they are asked their names.

Immediately, the trio breaks into song, voicing the struggles of Irish spelling to the barista, who looks as lost as ever.

Aoife, Siobhan, and Domnhall ask him: “Can you handle this?”

They begin breaking down the spelling of common Irish names to the rhythmic beat: “There’s a ‘B’ in Siobhan. Use a ‘V’, you’d be wrong.”

Decked out in 80s neon jackets and scrunchies, the group’s groovy moves and thumbs up totally make the video.

Domnahll takes up the rap as the names slowly grow more and more complicated. He tells of the ‘M’ in Niamh and ‘DHB’ in the end of Meadhb.

“My cousin’s name is Caoimhe, even I find that one quite tough,” Siobhan sings and gets low in a purple jumpsuit.

The "name contains seven silent letters.” They poke fun at the ridiculousness of Irish pronunciation.

Throughout the video, the three singers constantly change outfits, highlighting all the classic 80s garb.

The comedians also use giant letter balloons as props, spelling everything out for the American barista.

However, the group hits their main stride when they get to the chorus: “I don’t think you’re ready for this spelling.”

The whole music video is gas and gets across their main message perfectly:

When it comes to Irish names, “don’t spell phonetically.”
