Turning 30 is a pretty big milestone in anyone’s language.

It’s a birthday which suggests you need to leave the hedonistic days of your twenties behind you, and gird yourself for a life of drudgery.

Most 30-year-olds would, however, insist that little has changed since they entered their third decade, and they’re the people Emma Doran has a bone to pick with.

The comedian has taken it upon herself to impart some words of wisdom to anyone born in 1987 or before, and we’ll be honest, it struck a chord.

Not only are certain 30-year-olds we know guilty of using terms like ‘bae’ and ‘yolo’, even more refuse to leave the Oz dream behind, and still hark back to their glory days Down Under.

If you’re 30 or over and of a sensitive disposition, it’s worth noting that these words might sting a little…

Going to Ikea is more than just a shopping trip – it's an experience in its own right.

From pretending to eat in the showroom kitchens, to actually eating your weight in delicious Swedish meatballs, each stage is just as important as the last.

And while there are few greater ways to spend a Sunday afternoon, news that the furniture giant may start a home delivery service has gotten us very excited.

According to Reuters, Ikea has teamed up with Amazon in a move that will see the furniture retailer start to sell its products through third party digital platforms.

While Amazon's involvement has not yet been confirmed, Reuters reckon the two companies are a natural fit for each other.

Speaking to the news agency, Ikea Group Chief Executive, Torbjorn Loof, said, "On digital platforms, we only sell our products through our own website, and there we also see that the competitive landscape is changing."

He added, "I leave unsaid on which (platforms), but we will test and pilot, to see 'what does this mean, what does digital shopping look like in future and what do digital shopping centres mean?'."

Sure, nothing could ever replace the thrill of finding that flat-pack chair buried in the back of the warehouse, but we have to admit, an online shopping option would make things a whole lot easier.

If you think about it, no one knows you better than your Deliveroo man.

He knows about that celebratory Chinese when you finished your exams and he knows that your 'treat yourself Thursday' often spills over into the rest of the weekend.

So it's not surprising that Deliveroo knows exactly what kind of takeaway meals make the top five when it comes to our capital's preferences.

When 8pm on a Saturday night (the most popular time to order) rolls around, there are a few takeaways Dubliners love most.

Taking the top spot is the family meal from Eddie Rockets, comprising of two burger meals and two kids meals, so a true family favourite.

At number two there is the humble but mighty Boojum burrito, the ideal hangover food.

At number three, Aussie BBQ takes the crown for their pulled pork and bacon fries. *drools*

The number four spot is held by another family favourite from Beshoff Bros, the haddock fish and chips family meal for four.

And last but not least, the capital's notions come to life with salmon sashimi from Aoki Sushi.

The delivery service also looked into the eating habits of Co Cork, and they are distinctly different to those in the capital.

Cork residents prefer something a little spicy when they order in, with Yuan Ming Yuan's Hung Sung Pa Aromatic Duck taking the top spot.

Ramen's Pad Thai came in second, with Tung Sing Crispy Chilli Chicken a close third.

Burritos were again featured, this time it was Burritos & Blues Deliveroo Special in fourth place.

And proving that you can't beat a takeaway classic, in fifth place is Uncle Pete’s Burger Meal for two. Romantic AF.

Now we're craving a takeaway dinner…

The United Nations Human Rights Committee has ruled against Irish abortion laws for the second time in just over a year.

The committee ruled that the treatment of a woman who was denied an abortion in 2010 was cruel, inhuman and degrading.

After being denied a termination in Ireland, Siobhan Whelan travelled to the UK after learning of a fatal foetal abnormality.

Speaking about the ruling, Leah Hocter from the European Centre for Reproductive Rights explained:

"It is obliged, under international law, to guarantee non repetition of the violations she endured," she said.

"And what this means is that Ireland must take effective measures to ensure that other women do not have to face similar violations in the future.

"As a result, the committee has outlined that Ireland is obliged to undertake law reform, to change its laws on abortion so as to legalise abortion in Ireland."

This ruling follows a similar case in June 2016 when another Irish woman's human rights were violated after she was refused a termination on Irish soil.

Amanda Mellet was 21-weeks pregnant when she learned that her child would not survive outside the womb due to a condition known as Edwards' syndrome.

After being told this devastating news, Amanda was given two options – carry to full term, or seek an abortion abroad.

Amanda spent €3,000 on a termination in Liverpool, and stayed for just 12 hours as she could not afford to spend the night.

She was later compensated €30,000 following a ruling by the United Nations Human Rights Committee.

With Ireland's strict abortion laws in desperate need of reform, groups like Amnesty International have welcomed the UN's ruling, saying:

“While we welcome this ruling, it is outrageous that women have to go to the UN to have their human rights respected.”

A thought surely echoed by women across the country today.

If you struggle to remember what Dublin city centre looked like without an abundance of roadworks, railings and hastily-placed signs, you're not alone.

With the construction of the new Luas Cross City route dating back four years at this stage, it's no surprise many of us feel like we'll never actually see the day the new route goes into operation.

But it looks like it'll be sooner rather than later.

At 7am this Saturday, two trams will tentatively begin their maiden voyage across the new route, moving between St. Stephen’s Green, College Green and over to O’Connell Street.

The following day a similar test run will take place between Broadstone and Cabra.

The scheduled tests seek to ensure the infrastructure of the trams and allow for checks to be made by the engineering team.

The movements will be controlled by test marshals and supported by An Garda Siochána, and will draw to a close at approximately midday,

LGBTQ Pride is being celebrated across the world this June, as people come together to encourage members of the LGBTQ community to take pride in themselves and abandon any shame they have ever been made to feel about their sexuality.

As a token to the community, Facebook has rolled out a brand new feature to show their support for Pride.

Facebook have created a rainbow flag reaction, which sits alongside 'like' and 'love' in the options bar when you react to a post.

'We believe in building a platform that supports all communities,' they wrote in a post.

'So we’re celebrating love and diversity this Pride by giving you a special reaction to use during Pride Month.'

A post shared by Tina (@teenz_79) on

To get the reaction, all you have to do is like the LGBTQ@Facebook page, which already has over 16,000,000 likes.

The limited-edition reaction will be available until the end of June.

While most feel that this is an excellent way for Facebook to promote tolerance and inclusivity on the platform, others aren't so happy with the offering.

Some members of the LGBTQ community and their allies feel that while the reaction is a nice gesture, it doesn't address the hate that some LGBTQ people face on the site.

Others have been using the rainbow flag reaction to troll homophobic pages on Facebook.

According to emerging reports, Dublin City Councillors, who were in agreement that the memory of Savita Halappanavar should be honoured by naming a street in the capital after her, had their motion struck out by the Lord Mayor last night.

Savita Halappanavar, whose story sent shockwaves throughout Ireland five years ago, died after being denied a termination at a Galway hospital in October 2012.

The 31-year-old dentist requested a termination after falling critically ill four months into her pregnancy, but was told it was not possible due to the presence of a foetal heartbeat.

Despite all councillors voting in favour of Tina MacVeigh's motion to honour Savita with a street name, councillors don't actually have the authority to name city streets.

MacVeigh of People Before Profit explained her reasoning for the motion, saying: "Behinds Savita's name are the tens of thousands of other women in Ireland who have experienced difficulties and have been victims of our draconian laws which govern our reproductive care and rights in the health system."

“Savita’s life had dignity and meaning, her death had neither,” she continued. “Naming a street in her memory would be a gesture not only to honour her life but would also make a strong statement about the legacy of how women in Ireland have been treated."

All is not lost, however, as Lord Mayor Brendan Carr, who said he supports the motion, has stressed that it's up to the residents of a street to put forward a request to name it after the late 31-year-old, explaining: “That’s the process of it.”

Janice O' Sullivan is the driving force behind the hugely popular Young Nails, and recently launched Sunkiss and Perky's Breast Lift Tape.

With over 13 years in the world of business, the married mum-of-three has her finger on the pulse when it comes to the Irish beauty market.

Developing Young Nails from its embryonic stages into one of the largest nail supply and training companies in Ireland to launching two new products just last year, Janice has made an indelible mark on the Irish beauty scene.

And yet her entrepreneurial journey was not without its obstacles; navigating the recession ultimately forced her to 'think outside the box' when it came to the creation of new products.

"We set up Young Nails 13 years ago. It was my dad’s idea and basically I was off travelling, I came back and he asked me to help him with the business and that’s where it started from," Janice tells SHEmazing as she reflects on her first business.

"I was really enthused. This is what I wanted to do. Once it was started, I was left to do everything else," she laughs.

After building the brand from the ground up, and making a name for herself within the industry, the recession hit, and like countless others, Janice watched helplessly as her business began to suffer due to the economic crash.

"The nail industry was booming back then when the recession kicked in, and the nail industry changed, the style changed. That's when we faced difficulties. Your business went from 100 per cent to 50 per cent overnight literally. People had no money and the nails were the first thing to go."

"It was a good three years after the recession initially hit before the business picked up again," she admitted.

Janice knew that the economic downturn was having catastrophic effects on various businesses around her, and decided to use that time to focus on new ventures.

"Throughout that time, I was thinking I need to think outside the box, think of a new idea to bring the market. I needed to get into pharmacies and look at different avenues that would bring in extra income," she explains.

And that's when the wheels were set in motion for the creation and development of Sunkiss Self Tan and Perky's Breast Lift Tape – both of which were launched last year.

At the beginning of 2016, Janice remembers considering her plans for the products, saying "I had a plan. It’s my year. I’m going to achieve. I knew it was going to be a challenge. But I got there and it was hard, but I’m really really pleased with myself."

"I designed Sunkiss and had a salon solution. That was the thing when I designed it eight years ago. There was nothing tailored to Irish girls. Because our skin tone is very, very pale, I developed Sunkiss with a pink pigment in it. Instead of being orangey, it's a nice tan and it doesn't make you look like you're orange."

"So then this last year I decided to work with pharmacies to extend the business. It’s selling very well. There is a very high demand for the product," she said.

Of Perky's, she says: "I have worked on it for three years. I had everything ready to go with Perky's. Last year, I just needed to focus on design and packaging."

And the businesswoman doesn't intend to stop there.

"The brain is always ticking on and thinking of the next thing. I have notebooks, and any ideas I have, I write it in and tick them off as I do them."

"At night time you’re lying there thinking about things and the following morning you’ll forget, so you have to write down all your ideas and challenge yourself to complete them. I have new products to add to Sunkiss. And for Perkys I'm working on other methods."

Reflecting on her entrepreneurial journey, Janice acknowledges that the recession was a particularly difficult period which forced her to reassess her creative process.

"With Young Nails, it was disheartening how everything went. Young Nails is an established business and a great nail product, and going very well, but it did get very slumped," she admits.

"I did lose a bit of my mojo for business and that’s when I said I need to excite myself and develop new products and new ideas. I needed a new lease of business life."

Having navigated her own way through turbulent times, Janice is well-placed to offer advice to budding entrepreneurs.

"For women: Always follow your dreams. Have self-belief and always go with your gut feeling. There were times when I had gut feelings and I didn’t go with my gut and it was the wrong thing to do," Janice admits.

And if you don't know where to start but can't ignore the business idea that has been swirling around your head for years, Janice insists taking the plunge is the best course of action.

"At the end of the day everyone starts off with no money. Take the risk, if you need to go get the loan, get the loan!"

"There was a risk taken with Young Nails as it was my first business venture, but from that I was able to develop all the other products. It might seem daunting at the start; things take times, money wise, you need money to invest in things."

Father's Day is just around the corner and so too is the annual hunt for the ultimate 'dad joke' card.

Sure, you could go for musical, pop-out or even homemade, but none of those have got a patch on Moonpig's latest offering.

The greetings card company have just launched the world's first range of edible, meat-flavoured cards – perfect for the carnivorous dad in your life.

They're made from rice paper that has been infused with edible scents and ink, and come in two mouthwatering flavours – BBQ or spicy hot.

The BBQ offering is smoked with hickory chips to give that “full and authentic flavour’, while the spicy hot cards are seasoned with cayenne pepper for "a fiery finish".

Have you ever heard anything more fundamentally 'dad' in your life?

According to parenting blogger, Papa Pukka, the rice paper is actually full of flavour:

“I never know what to do with old greeting cards and I’m always ready for a meaty snack, so this is great. Also, eating paper makes me feel like a spy, and this paper has a surprisingly full flavour.”

There's just one catch – these novelty greetings cards are only available for a limited time and you have to enter a competition to try and win one.

Entry closes at 12:00pm on Wednesday June 14, so hurry!

It'll all be worth it when you see that confused/ proud look on your Dad's face.

There are over 20 restaurants to choose from, so it’s good to come with a plan on what you want to sample.

3. Check out the live musical entertainment line up

There is plenty more than food on offer at Taste of Dublin.

Entertainment will be on the main stage from noon on Thursday to close on Sunday evening, and keeping the buzz alive are bands such Spring Break and Smash Hits.

4. Remember the weather

Taste of Dublin is primarily an outdoor event, and the forecast is good – so don’t forget the sun cream.

5. Swap your cash for florins

Taste of Dublin has its own currency, so be sure to exchange euro for Florins.

Visit one of the Florin banks dotted around the venue (or use one of the many roving Florin sellers) to buy your currency.

One Euro equates to one Florin.
