With 24,000 branches around the globe, Starbucks is arguably the most well-known coffee shop chain on the planet.

And while many of us often substitute the word 'coffee' for 'a Starbucks' when in need of a caffeine hit, there was a point in the decision-making process when it looked like the public would be using something else.

According to co-founder Gordon Bowker, if they hadn't changed their mind, we'd all be using the term 'a Cargo House'.

Speaking to The Seattle Times, Gordon said: "We were thinking of all kinds of names and came desperately close to calling it Cargo House, which would have been a terrible, terrible mistake."

After deciding that a name which starts with 'St' would sound strongest, Gordon turned his attention to an old mining town.

"Somebody somehow came up with an old mining map of the Cascades and Mount Rainier, and there was an old mining town called Starbo."

Gordon then explained how the brainstoming session ultimately led to the name we all know and love today.

"As soon as I saw Starbo, I, of course, jumped to Melville’s first mate in Moby-Dick. But Moby-Dick didn’t have anything to do with Starbucks directly; it was only coincidental that the sound seemed to make."

But the chain's name creation doesn't stop there, it also references the Greek myth of the Siren which featured Starbuck Island in the South Pacific.

And there you have it, you could have been ordering a Venti in Cargo House if the powers that be hadn't stepped in.

We can all admit to the fact that certain colours are not easy to wear, and yellow is definitely one of them.

To be honest, we have all gotten so used to rotating between grey, black and navy that we actually live in fear of a splash of vibrance.

However, with summer in full swing, we have no excuse not to ditch the dark shades, and swap them for some brighter and more exciting colours.

Enter: yellow (yes, really!)

We have a soft spot for yellow, but rarely wear it for fear of looking like Big Bird, or a Minion – but that should not be the case.

Yellow can be really fun and easy to wear if done correctly.

Check out our edit of glorious yellow items that will have you shining like the sun, in a good way:

Roz Purcell stepped out at the Qatar Airways Gala this week wearing the most amazing two piece, and the question on everyones lips was 'where did she get it?'

Thankfully, the model-turned-influencer shared the details of her stunning outfit with her 194,000 followers on Instagram.

New Irish fashion label VAENO is the premium collection responsible for Roz's chic, minimalist look.

A post shared by Rozanna Purcell (@rozannapurcell) on

VAENO is a new Irish fashion concept which aims to empower the women through effortless tailoring.

A refreshing change from fast fashion, the brand promotes the curation of wardrobe stocked with interchangeable separates.

This has led VAENO to create an edited capsule of classic, timeless essentials that work for all occassions.

The concept, whose motto is 'with the right components, a woman can achieve anything,' is the creative endeavour of Nadya Gaughran and Louise Merrick.

The pair of entrepreneurs have a combined extensive experience in fashion and retail, and the collection reflects their understanding of female form and shape.

The emphasis is on fit, cut and quality, to create timeless, elegant and achingly stylish ensembles.

The collection includes silk bodysuits, simple shift dresses, and well cut, structured two-pieces, much like Roz's.

We're dying to see more from this designer duo!

Summer is upon us, and with it comes a new season of fresh fashion pieces suited to the warmer climate.

While usually we'd be envisioning an Instagram feed filled with cute crop tops and cut-out swimsuits, there is a new novelty fashion shot that's all over the social media site.

Watermelon is the freshest summer fruit going, and savvy fashionistas are tailoring their juicy fruit slices into pieces of Instagram art.

Watermelon dresses are the funniest, cutest craze online, and while nibbling a slice of melon into a dress shape wouldn't be the fist thought to cross our minds while tucking in, we're so glad people are doing this for the sheer scrolling joy alone.

Irish blogger and stylist Ciara O'Doherty has launched an opulent hair couture accessories brand, Taylor & Rose.

The YouTuber launched her new brand last night, and we were beside ourselves browsing through the ornate, distinct collection.

The stylist has curated a collection of decadent pieces with multiple influences.

Ranging from baroque-inspired earrings to embellished headbands that would be right at home in Blair Waldorf's walk-in closet, the statement pieces are varied throughout the collection.

The trophy pieces are in the premium accessory price bracket, with intricate crowns retailing at up to €145.00, but there is a wide range of prices on site, with stunning gold hair pieces starting at €12.00

'The idea for it started over a year ago when I was putting together an outfit for a fashion event here in Dublin,' said Ciara.

'I was looking for a really special headpiece – I wanted something unique, luxurious and affordable – and after searching high and low I realised that this was a collection that I wanted to bring to life myself.'

'Taylor & Rose is all about hair couture, and creating your own bespoke hair look for that special occasion.'

'So whether it's a soft elegant hair vine or an opulent regal crown, I wanted to bring Irish women a collection of high fashion hair accessories without the designer price tag – because we all deserve to feel like a Queen for a day!'

We adore the ornate crucifix earrings, and the crowns are one way of proving your regal sartorial credentials.

As well as playing host to luxurious Baroque-style accessories, there are also a number of holiday-perfect pieces.

In bright colours and patterns, the textured pom-pom hoop earrings are a SHEmazing fave.

While the idea for the collection was spurned from creative necessity, the name of the brand is personal.

'The name Taylor & Rose is inspired by two very special women,' said the blogger.

'The first is the iconic Elizabeth Taylor (who loved wearing crowns) and the second is my mum, Rose, who will always be my Queen!'

The collection is currently available online

We know exactly where we'll be turning for unique, opulent hair pieces this season…
