The summer is well and truly behind us if the current weather situation is anything to go by.

There is a status yellow weather warning in place for Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork and Kerry from Met Éireann.

According to the forecaster,'some very strong west, veering northwest winds are expected to affect western and southwestern coastal counties later Sunday, overnight and into Monday morning.'

Gusts of up to 110kmph are expected in these regions.

The winds will be 'strongest in the exposed hilly and coastal areas with very high seas along the coasts during this period.'

We'll be battening down the hatches and watching a box set for the weekend,so.

There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks about how the amount of sexual partners someone has had can impact their current or future relationships.

The conversation got started when a Spin 1038 listener contacted the radio show about his girlfriend, complaining that he found her number too high and asking for advice on this issue.

The comment section on the corresponding Facebook post was completely going off, with most commentators advising that the man told his girlfriend how he felt so that she could dump him for being close minded.

Some people expressed that they found the girlfriends number too high, but most pointed out that if the boyfriend had a male friend with that many sexual conquests, he would probably be getting high fives from the boyfriend, rather than being shamed.

This points out the distinct double standards that can exist when it comes to male and female sexuality, but also proves that plenty of people think that the 'number' is obsolete in todays' society.

Now, new research has arrived to back up this anecdotal evidence.

A study by DrEd found that when it comes to the number, the majority of people don't think it makes a blind bit of difference.

In fact, according to a poll of 1000 people, 52pc of men and 59pc of women held no preconceptions about the number of former partners someone had, and felt that it made no difference to the sexual encounter whatsoever.

However, 40pc of European men thought that the more partners someone had, the better the sex would be.  Only 8pc of both genders thought that the encounter would be worse due to the previous amount of sexual partners their current partner had, according to the Lying Beneath The Sheets study.

However when it comes to discussing their number, the social stigma attached to having lots of sexual partners has led some to feel shame for their sexual experiences.

18pc of European men think their number is too high, along with 30pc of women, the study found.

The study also found that women are more likely to report feeling ashamed by their sexual history 'when in reality, the physical and emotional perks of sex can benefit everyone.'

A further 30pc of women feel that their number is average.

74pc of women are honest about their previous experience, however 22pc feel pressured to undersell their number by 10 partners or more.

24pc of men also feel the need to undersell their number by 10 partners or more, so maybe we should all just be being honest about our number as it seems that roughly the same amount of men and women are underselling their number by the same amount, according to the data found in the study poll.

Despite this, people polled in the study also told researchers they 'had an idea – both a minimum and maximum – for the number of people they felt it was OK to have slept with.'

reaction arrested development eye roll eyeroll over it GIF

When probed, men in their 20s said they thought 7 people was too many for a woman to have slept with, while women thought 10 was too many for a man to have slept with.

Frankly, as long as both partners enjoyed safe and consensual sex, who the heck cares about how many people they have been with?

Perhaps it's time to shake off the social stigma and choose to be accepting of people's sexual choices, no matter how many or few they make.

New reports have said that the death toll of the earthquake, felt in Mexico City and neighbouring cities, is much higher than originally thought.

Unless you have been living under an internet-repellant rock, you will have seen the viral video of the Irish family attempting to get a bat out of their kitchen.

The video was posted to Facebook on Tuesday and has millions of views, as well as being widely covered by Irish and international press.

Derry, Tadhg and Maurine Fleming cemented themselves into the viral hall of fame with their antics in the video.

In the video, the family battle with a very frantic bat as it flies around their kitchen being a general nuisance.

Tadhg's ongoing commentary culminates as Derry attempts to catch the bat with a towel and the family dog Basil pees on the kitchen floor. Typical.

Now, the family are extending their 15 minutes of internet fame by being interviewed by iconic American presented and comedian Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Jimmy invited the Fleming family, from county Kerry, onto the show to chat about their newfound viral fame, and they have a few more anecdotes up their sleeve.

'It's absolutely crazy' said Tadhg, of the reaction the public has had to the video.

It's always pretty tempting to fall headfirst into a bottomless brunch at the weekend, and if afternoon hangovers are losing their appeal, we have a sensational, thought still slightly boozy replacement to your usual mimosa.

Rosé  popsicles are here to take over as a fun alternative to cocktails, these tasty iced treats are seriously addictive.

And dare we say, apart from the rosé part, they are *PRETTY* healthy.

Strawberry rosé popsicles

For 6 popsicles

  • 120ml coconut milk
  • 120ml rosé wine
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 450g strawberries

Place 300g strawberries in a medium saucepan and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, mashing regularly with a spoon.

Meanwhile, blend the remaining strawberries with coconut milk, rosé, maple syrup and vanilla.

Alternatively spoon the strawberry mixture with the coconut mixture in a popsicle mold and freeze overnight.

Cheers!

It's officially Friday (thank the Lord) and after a hard week of work there is nothing we'd like to do more than curl up on the couch with some confectionery treats.

The only thing that could make chilling with some tea cakes any better is the potential addition of a cuddly puppy to warm our frozen hearts.

A new event is on the horizon that means relaxing with doggos and delicious doughnuts doesn't have to be designated to a Friday evening.

Combining two of the best things on earth, Dogs Trust are asking people all over the country to dust off their aprons and host a Pupcake Day bake sale in aid of the animal welfare charity.

Every single euro raised will go towards the life saving work of Dogs Trust.

Pupcake Day officially takes place on October 6th, but you can hold your bake sale any day in October, be at work or in your local community.

'Holding a bake sale is a great way to get people together at home or in your workplace, while also raising money for a worthy cause,' said TV3's Catherine Leyden.

'Dogs love baked treats too, there are some gorgeous dog friendly recipes included in the downloadable Pupcake pack from Dogs Trust, so why not include human and doggy treats in your bake sale?”

BRB, gotta grab some baking mix and a Bichon Frise.

Ever since Girls Aloud burst onto the music scene back in 2002, speculation has been rife about the girls' dynamic.

As is the case with most girl groups, the relationship that existed between the five women was subject to intense scrutiny, with the press and public only too eager to pit them against one another.

And as the years progressed, there was no denying that some members formed closer bonds than others – something the girls readily brushed off when questioned about it in interviews.

However, it looks like recent developments have re-ignited interest in the group's dynamic.

With Nicola Roberts making barbed comments over Sarah Harding's appearance on Celebrity Big Brother to Sarah's suggestion that Cheryl knows how to play the press and public, fans of the band are only dying to get an insight into what really went on behind the scenes.

And now that the dust has settled and the women have essentially moved on with their lives, it looks like Nadine Coyle is happy to open up about the animosity which festered within the group at times.

While speaking on The Sun's Bizarre Life podcast, the Derry-native implied that it all came down to whose voice was heard most often.

"I'm not a victim, it's not that," Nadine insisted as she reflected on her time with the uber-successful band. "It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else."

Nadine admitted that the frequency with which she featured on the band's tracks ultimately contributed to a sense of ill will.

"So in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn't happening and it made people very, very bitter. They didn't like that," she admitted.

And now we know…

Mexico was hit by an earthquake last night which has claimed the lives of two people.

The 8.1-magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of southern Mexico.

The quake was so strong that it reportedly caused buildings to sway as panicked residents fled.

The earthquake has caused a tsunami warning to be placed in effect.

'Off the west coast of Mexico is what's called the subduction zone, the Pacific Plate is moving under the Mexican peninsula,' Lucy Jones, a seismologist in California who works with the US Geological Survey told Breaking News.

'It's a very flat fault, so it's a place that has big earthquakes relatively often because of that.'

'There's likely to be a small tsunami going to the south-west.'
