What is it about passport photos? No matter how hard you try for a 'gorgeous yet neutral' facial expression, you always end up looking 50% murderous, 50% nauseous and 100% awful.

Well, next time you're heading to the Passport Office you might want to take your lead from Prince. The singer updated his US passport recently ahead of some concerts in Australia and New Zealand, and his photo is total passport perfection.

We can't decide what we love most about the photo, which the pop legend shared on Twitter earlier this week:

– His perfectly glossy lips
– That immaculately applied eyeliner
– The stellar contouring
– His glam silk jacket
– THAT POUT.

And, as Us Weekly points out, Prince's photo is actually well within the passport photo requirements set down by the US government; his face is centered, his hair is away from his face and doesn't cover his eyes, he's got a neutral expression and the photo was taken against a plain white background.

Thank you Prince, for this lesson in how to ace our next passport photo (or just our next selfie). Total game changer.

We know Charlotte Crosby is pretty famous since she was one of the original Geordie Shore cast memebers, but let's be honest, she hasn't got a patch on Kylie Jenner.

Charlotte believes that Kylie copied HER when she got lip fillers because Char started the injections before Kylie did.

"I don't think it's the Kylie Jenner effect because I was getting mine done way before Kylie Jenner got trendy," she told the Daily Mail Australia.

"I've been getting my lips done for about two years now, I get them done every five or six months at a place in Newcastle."

This comes just after Charlotte underwent surgery to change her nose four weeks ago.

"No one ever noticed my nose, I never got one comment in my whole entire life saying you've got a bad nose. But I wasn't happy with it, I got it done for me."

The Geordie beauty also said she's becoming a bit obsessed with surgery, admitting to having botox as well. We just hope she doesn't go too far!

Time was that a red carpet event was an everyday occurrence on the busy Irish social scene.

After all, who can forget the likes of the VIP Style and the TV Now awards being the hottest tickets in town?

Charlize Theron would pop along to the Meteors, while the Iftas also boasted oodles of Hollywood attendees.

Duchess Kate and her Mammy Middleton would swing by for a weekend break in our capital (circa spring 2007), making sure to stop by a fancy-pants, red-carpeted gallery launch while they were in town.

Then there was the Eurovision, an iron-clad stable of the mid-Nineties. Even the MTV Europe Music Awards came to Dublin back in 1999 (where Christina, Mariah, Britney and Whitney – *swoon* – ALL made an appearance).

Of course, red carpet events still take place: but we dare say that there’s not quite as much glitz nor as much glam these days. Yes, the dresses are more muted; the hair decidedly less full.

Thankfully, however, you may yet have reason to dust off your Gina sandals.

Yes, the inaugural black-tie Gossies are taking place this Sunday in Dublin and suffice to say that the guestlist (Vogue Williams, Rosanna Davison, Nicola Hughes and Roz Purcell) is as impressive as anything 2006 could have offered us. Hurrah!

Here, in honour of the glamorous Gossies (where a total of 18 awards will be up for grabs), we examine the five key red carpet styles we can expect to see on the night…

1) Dressed to the nines

A big night out means only one thing: a really big dress. Take inspiration from Lisa Cannon in Vera Wang:

2) Keeping it casual

The ‘oh this old thing’ vibe. Look to Mariah Carey – dressed down in a black vest and ripped denim jeans – for ideas:

3) Look at me

The UTV Ireland cameras will be there at the Gossies, so expect a few head-turners, just like Michelle Keegan:

4) Dividing opinion

They’ll love it or they’ll hate it. Check out Lorraine Keane in a Deborah Veale gown to perfect your look:

5) Classic is best

Why try and reinvent the wheel – keep it simple like Kathryn Thomas:

When a baby dolphin washed up on a crowded beach in Argentina, everyone wanted a photo with the animal.

The young mammal was paraded throughout the crowd as people desperately tried to take pictures and selfies with the defenceless creature.

The so-called Franciscana dolphin was later found dead on the same beach having died from suspected dehydration.

"The Franciscana, like other species, cannot remain for much time outside of the water," said the Animal Foundation of Argentina who quickly issued a statement on the incident.

"It has thick fatty skin which gives it heat and means that taking it out of the water rapidly causes it to dehydrate and die.

"This occasion serves to inform the public about the urgent necessity to return these dolphins to the sea as soon as possible if they find them on the shore."

And according to the organisation, it is more important now than ever as only 30,000 of this species remains in the world's oceans.

"It is fundamental that people help to rescue these animals, because every Franciscana counts now."

The healthy dolphin, which could have lived up to twenty years in it's natural habitat, was still being photographed as it lay dead on the Buenos Aires beach.

If you happened to pick up a newspaper this morning, you may have witnessed a legitimate one page advertisement for a Irish political party using none other than One Direction to get their message across.

We kid you not.

The Labour Party superimposed the faces of Paul Murphy, Lucinda Creighton, Gerry Adams, Micheál Martin and Shane Ross onto the bodies of our favourite boyband.

Complete with the words "no direction" emblazoned across the image, this may be the best advertisement ever made in the history of Irish general elections… if you can get over the sheer farce of it all.

Not to be totally outdone, an ensuing Twitter spat has broken out between one of the featured politicians, Lucinda, and the Labour party.

The Renua party leader took to social media to point out that there is actually only four current members of One Direction.

How sassy.

And just when we thought it couldn't dissolve into any more hilarity, the Labour Party's official Twitter responded with: "Sure… it's obvious you're Zayn & given your history, you'd be the first to leave!"

Touché, Labour, touché.

We hope we have stopped cringing by February 26.

Dating etiquette can be something of a mystery, especially if you're a) just out of a relationship, b) meeting someone on a night out or just c) really in the mood for the ride.

It's hard to know exactly how long you're 'meant' to wait to have sex with a new partner, and while there's no hard and fast rule, a new survey shows that most of us do hang about a while before jumping into bed.

According to research by relationship site IllicitEncounters.com, the average new Irish couple waits until the fourth date before sleeping together.

And for most of us, first dates are just reserved for chatting and maybe some flirtatious eye contact – because the majority of couples wait don't even lock lips until their second date.

However there is always an exception to the rule of course, with 17% of men and 13% of women saying they've had sex on the first date. We'd love the data on how many of those first 'dates' occurred in Coppers…

As for getting serious and saying the L-word, it seems that's something we're content to wait a whole lot longer for.

Yup, the first 'I Love You' comes after at least 14 dates in the majority of cases, with women admitting they'd wait even longer to say it just so they wouldn't have to drop the L-word first.

Almost three-quarters (72%) of men say they were the first to talk about 'love,' compared to just 28% of women.

What do you think – do the figures match up to your own experiences?

Forget your Mary Berry-approved three-tier showstopper cakes, people. One US food blogger knows where it's at when it comes to enviable baking, and she's got the Instagram account to prove it.

Bake a cake. Decorate that cake with some killer Drake lyrics. Eat that cake. Repeat.

LA-based Joy Wilson has been doing her thing over at Joy The Baker for eight years now, and with a host of celeb fans including both Taylor Swift AND Emma Stone, it's safe to say she's got the whole blogging-as-a-career thing down.

But now she's expanded her reach with a little side project, Drake On Cake.

The account, which does exactly what it says on the tin – puts Drake lyrics on decadently delicious cakes – already has a whopping 62k followers and counting.

So next time you're planning a party cake with a difference, take a leaf out of Joy's book. From the explicit…

…To the downright inspirational…

While we all adore Adele eternally, we have to admit that her performance of new single All I Ask at the Grammys this week was not her best.

But no one is more aware of that fact than Adele herself.

From audio issues to some pitching problems, the Hello singer was the first person to admit that she was not at all happy with her performance.

"I cried pretty much all day yesterday," the 27-year-old revealed to Ellen DeGeneres today.

"I kept like spontaneously bursting into tears yesterday. But it was alright. I was fine."

And in true Adele form, the singer laughed about the whole thing and has taken the criticism on the chin.

"I don’t feel like it could go that much worse than the Grammys, so I feel like I’m alright now. Anything that happens, dust it off.

"If it wasn’t live TV I would have busted a joke, but because it was, I couldn’t make the disaster my own."

After the performance Adele took to Twitter to explain the audio issues.

"The piano mics fell on to the piano strings, that's what the guitar sound was. It made it sound out of tune. Shit happens," she tweeted before revealing that she had treated herself to a burger after the performance.

And we all would have done the exact same.

With reports of daylight muggings and on-street attacks increasing in Dublin, we can't stress how important it is to look after your personal safety when walking alone.

Of course, in some cases, adrenaline tends to kick in whether you mean it to or not, as happened with stylist Courtney Smith earlier this week.

The Dublin fashionista was walking along Ormond Quay in the city centre on Tuesday when she was the victim of an attempted mugging – but she says she managed to fight the thief off.

"It probably wasn't the wisest thing in the world to do as I saw afterwards there was another guy with him," Courtney recalled to the Irish Independent.

"But I was just acting on pure adrenaline."

The scariest part of Courtney's experience is that it happened in the middle of the afternoon, long before dark.

"It happened in broad daylight as I was walking down the quays," she said.

"I felt a little tug on my bag and then it felt as if someone was rummaging in my handbag and I saw this guy out of the corner of my eye trying to take something out of my bag.

"Then he went to take the bag off me and I basically boxed him in the shoulder and shouted something like, 'what are you doing?'

"He just sauntered off with the other guy without saying a word."

Courtney tweeted shortly after the incident, saying she hoped her "right hook left a mark" on the anonymous attacker.

We hope so too.

In case you had forgotten how unbelievably stunning Gigi Hadid is, we are happily here to remind you.

Taking a break from gracing the catwalks of top designers at New York Fashion Week, the leggy blonde has donned an array of sexy bikinis as she steps in front of the camera for Sports Illustrated.

"I texted my special someone, I always get excited about the pictures…" said Gigi when asked about who she showed the sexy snaps to first.

And it seems that it was Zayn who was the first lucky person to get a sneak preview of the snaps.

"He obviously liked the pictures."

Obviously.

"It's my third year doing Sports Illustrated," the eldest Hadid sibling continued.

"When I got the call this year that I was shooting with Yu Tsai, in Tahiti, it was just perfect, there was nothing else I could ask for."

The 20-year-old is set to helm the 2016 Swimsuit Edition of the popular publication which is out next week.

Despite all the odds and the age gap, we're totally convinced that Kate Hudson and Nick Jonas are actually dating.

With rumours circulating that the pair were seeing each other back as far as last Summer, we have decided to examine all  the recent evidence that suggests that the pair are totally getting it on.

From coy smiles to romantic getaways, Kate and Nick certainly seem to be enjoying their time together.

5) Their festive vacation

The 36-year-old actress and singer reportedly enjoyed a romantic ski trip over the festive season.

The pair were snapped getting coffee while taking a break from the slopes and it seems that they were looking very coupley.

4) Their Superbowl date

After reuniting at the Superbowl, the pair were spotted leaving an Italian restaurant in LA after the big show.

3) Nick's kind words

The 23-year-old Levels singer certainly did not hold back on gushing about Kate in a recent interview for Complex magazine.

"Kate’s incredible. We had an unbelievable connection as two humans who just admire things about each other, and see something in each other that’s beautiful.

"Out of my best effort to respect her and her privacy, I’m not going to say if we had sex or not. But we did have a beautiful connection. Even now I have so much admiration and respect. She’s amazing."

2) THAT naked bath snap

Kate hit headlines last month after a pretty revealing bath pic of her was posted by her stylist.

According to numerous news outlets, the steamy pic was intentionally published to make Nick jealous as things had fizzled out before Christmas.

And if that's to be believed, it apparently worked.

1) Kate's assertion that she is "very happy"

In an interview on CBS This Morning earlier this week, Kate couldn't help but smile when asked about Nick.

"He's a great guy. He's a sweetheart.

"Apparently, we have a really beautiful connection!"
