Dermot O'Leary must be feeling pretty chuffed with himself today as the TV presenter has reportedly signed an £8million contract which will see him host the X Factor for the next four years.

And that's not all – according to The Sun, the new deal will not prevent the British-born broadcaster from working on other projects while signed with the hit show so Dermot will be able to top-up his lucrative pay package whenever he feels the need to do so.

The 43-year-old host lost his spot on the hit talent show last year when he was rather unsuccessfully replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack, but the break seems to have benefited Dermot in a big way as not only will he take back his position as the show’s host, he is also about to become the highest-paid solo presenter on British television.

An insider told The Sun:  “This is the comeback of all comebacks for Dermot.”

“Just one year after Cowell axed him, he’s signing the contract of a lifetime.”

“Simon may have had questions about Dermot’s commitment before but he soon realised he’d made a mistake."

“Even a couple of weeks into the live shows last year, enquires were being made about bringing Dermot back.”

“He had to think long and hard about it because he was loving working on a wide range of projects, including TV series for the BBC, documentaries and his Radio 2 show.”

“But at the end of the day he loves X Factor and he was pretty much able to name his price – it was too good an opportunity to walk away from.”

The X Factor will be back on screens next month with Dermot as host and Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne as judges.

Days after her sudden death following a Kodaline concert in Marlay Park last weekend, Ciara Lawlor has been laid to rest in her native Kilkenny.

The Dublin four-piece flew in from the UK to pay their respects to the 17-year-old girl who passed away after falling ill during their gig in Rathfarnham on July 8th.

According to the Irish Independent, the band joined Ciara's classmates in a heartfelt rendition of High Hopes as parish priest, Fr. Frank Purcell, paid tribute to the 'vivacious' secondary school student during her funeral at Saint John's church in Kilkenny today.

Due to sit her Leaving Cert next year, Ciara, who is understood to have had an underlying medical condition, was described by her heartbroken parents as "down to earth, a friend to everyone, a real people person."

Releasing a statement following Ciara's untimely passing, Kodaline spoke of their regret on Facebook, writing: "We are so saddened to say that during our concert at Marlay Park, a 17-year-old girl with a pre-existing medical condition suddenly became ill."

Vicky Pattison might be well known for her ballsy on-screen persona, but the Queen of the Jungle revealed today that, just like everyone else, she can be her own worst critic.

According to Celebs Now, the former Geordie Shore cast member burst into tears as she shared with the Loose Women panel her battles with self-scutiny.

As part of this afternoon's show, Vicky had to listen back to a pre-recorded clip of herself as she voiced some of the negative thoughts she has about herself and, understandably, the experience was an emotional one for the reality star.

Vicky was reduced to tears as she heard herself saying: “What are you doing here?  You’re not as good as everyone else.”

The tape also revealed how the Newcastle native compares herself to other women and tells herself she’s doomed to fail.

She said: “Look at them – everyone’s so clever and glamorous.”

“They’re thinking, ‘Who are you, what are you doing here?’”

“Just make it easier and go now.  You’re gonna fail and everyone’s gonna laugh.”

Vicky went on to explain that she experiences such negative thoughts every day and admitted she tries hard to act like people’s comments don’t affect her but in reality they do.

She also confessed that her insecurities are only made worse by the comments she receives on social media.

She said: “People tear strips off the way you look, which is never nice. I get everything – people say I don’t deserve to be where I am because of my past.”

Since the show aired, Vicky has received a stream of online support with women admitting they love and admire her and encouraging her not to give in to the negativity which at times surrounds her.

The Geordie thanked her fans by tweeting: "So overwhelmed by all your amazing support and messages after my appearance on this afternoon's @loosewomen.. It was a tough one for me!"

A mother-of-one left pub-goers gobsmacked when she showed off her impressive weight-lifting skills in Temple Bar.

Amy O'Halloran, from the UK, was celebrating her birthday over the weekend when she was challenged by her friends to lift a man they were chatting to in a pub.

Now, her friends know that Amy is an amateur powerlifter and a former cyclo-cross cyclist, so when the crowd outside the pub saw her impressive skills, they were shocked.

The British woman lifted the man 14 times above her head, which was captured in an Instagram clip.

She captioned the video, "This happened!… So funny, accrued a little audience and everything (sic)."

Powerlifting in a dress? Now, that's impressive.

But if you –  like countless others – have had your fill of info on the trend, you'll be happy to know that there's a Chrome plugin which allows you to rid your feeds of all Pokémon Go references.

PokeGone (Props to whoever came up with that one) is a free extension which means you can log on without having to see anything about the game which is currently taking the world by storm.

Nail biting has long been considered one of the worst bad habits you can develop, but all that might be about to change as a new study has revealed that having a cheeky chew might actually be good for you.

Researchers in New Zealand have found that children who bite their nails or suck their thumbs are less likely to develop allergies than those who don’t because all that under-nail bacteria we’ve been so long warned off actually seems to have a strengthening effect on the body’s immune system.

The investigation – which has been published in the Pediatrics journal – is based on the hygiene hypothesis which states that the more germs and bacteria you are exposed to in childhood, the stronger your immune system is likely to be in adulthood.

The study – which involved 1,000 people – assessed thumb sucking and nail biting habits at ages five, seven, nine and eleven and tested for allergies in 13 and 32-year-olds.

Almost one third of the children involved were found to be regular thumb suckers or nail biters and these children were significantly less likely to be allergic to dust mites and pets in their teens than their non-nail biting counterparts.

This effect was also found to last into adulthood but does not apply to asthma or hay fever at any age.

While there are still obvious disadvantages to biting your nails, the study does show that even the worst of habits can have their benefits.

They have denied rumours in the past, but now it has surfaced that Taylor Swift was the brains behind This Is What You Came For.

The track by Calvin Harris and Rihanna originally named Taylor as a co-writer, but the credit list later changed her name to Nils Sjoberg, which is believed to be Ms Swift's pseudonym.

However, now TMZ is reporting that is was the song that had Taylor and Calvin at "breaking point."

Biggest video in the world right now!!! 36m views in 5 days!!!!! Thank you so much @badgalriri

According to the site, while Tay Tay and Calvin were still dating, she came up with the song and did a demo on her phone.

Then after forwarding it to Calvin, the couple hit the studio and did a full demo with Taylor singing and Calvin on the beat. They later realised if they released it together, it would be more about them and not about the track.

So in the end, Calvin recorded it with Rihanna. However, on the day of the release, Calvin was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest, and when asked if he'd ever record with his then-girlfriend, Calvin said: "You know we haven't even spoken about it. I can't see it happening though."

TMZ claims that this was the "breaking point in the relationship," and that "Taylor was hurt and felt Calvin took it too far."

It was just days afterwards that Taylor was spotted dancing the night away with Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala.

The website also alleges that Taylor's squad want to reveal the truth behind the track because "they're sick of Calvin trashing Taylor and feel he should be thanking her for quietly giving him a smash hit."

Just weeks after Jennifer Aniston grabbed headlines all over the world for reportedly boasting a burgeoning baby bump, the former Friends actress has again grabbed the attention of the global media.

And despite what multiple media outlets around the world might have hoped, the Hollywood heavy-hitter did not break her silence on the issue to confirm the reports.

Dismissing the reports in no uncertain terms instead, Jennifer called on the media to reevaluate the image they have of women – famous or not – and consider the impact societal pressures have on the younger generation.

"The sheer amount of resources being spent right now by press trying to simply uncover whether or not I am pregnant (for the bajillionth time… but who’s counting) points to the perpetuation of this notion that women are somehow incomplete, unsuccessful, or unhappy if they’re not married with children," she wrote.

And like millions other women around the world, Jennifer's essay has struck a chord with former Girls Aloud member, Cheryl, who showed her support on social media this morning.

Taking to Twitter to share the actress's essay, 33-year-old Cheryl wrote: "Just when I thought I couldn't love her any more."

Having been married twice, Cheryl, who is now in a relationship with 1D's Liam Payne, is no stranger to speculation when it comes to starting a family.

And like Jennifer, Cheryl has seen her changing appearance used as tabloid fodder since her rise to fame in 2002.

Agreeing with the Fight For This Love singer, a fan of the star wrote: "She speaks so much truth. It's ridiculous what you both have to put up with to do what you love."

"She's so inspiring isn't she? She's said it right," added another. "I just wish other people could understand such a simple concept."

Jennifer's essay can be read in full here.

We all grew up watching ad after ad of Barry Scott shouting out his catchphrase – "BANG and the dirt is gone!"

Annoying, yes, but let's just say we grew to love Barry and his over-the-top cleaning ways.

So, it's a real shame that he's been axed from the Cillit Bang ads, and a new hot young thing has taken his place.

To be fair, the new guy is slick AF and has some killer dance moves (he was once a back-up dancer for Madonna) so we won't totally object.

We quite like the new advert, but Barry Scott and his catchphrase will always stay close to our hearts.
