Most of us Irish ladies have been blessed with a gorgeous naturally pale skin tone. Unfortunately, many people feel the need to cover it up with fake tan thinking they need to be the same colour as their darker counterparts.

But it’s time to stop covering up and embrace your paleness – here’s why:

It’s who you are
Ladies, it’s time to stop thinking you need to look a certain way. Being pale is who you are so embrace it. If you don’t love you for you, how will anyone else?

Fake tan can go wrong
Yes fake tan is great for when you want to wear a particular colour item of clothing that simply won’t go with pale skin, but it can go wrong. Seriously wrong.

We are all different
Nobody is the same and that is what makes this world a beautiful place. If we all looked like each other it would make for a pretty boring place.

Looking for inspiration? Think of Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud – now that is a girl who embraced her paleness.

They say a change is as good as a rest. But you know what it’s not as good as? A decent haircut.

Girls creator Lena Dunham posted a photo to her Instagram account sporting a blonde bowl cut, with the caption: "change is good". And as much as we love her, we can’t help but think that she’s made a terrible, terrible mistake with this one.

Lena must not have realised that there is only a tiny number of people in the world who can pull off a bowl haircut. However, many have tried, and failed, such as Kelly Osbourne:

Or Miley Cyrus.

Or Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber.

Few can pull it off as well as Rihanna.

Or Agyness Deyn.

Still, if Lena’s happy, then that’s all that matters. We’re just scarred over the bowl cut our mother gave us when we were four. We wouldn’t wish that horror on our worst enemy!

Kimberly Wyatt and Max Rogers were on their honeymoon in New York last April when they discovered they were going to be parents for the first time!

The former Pussycat Doll and current Got To Dance judge is VERY excited, and she’s planning on raising the baby in England, even though she’s American herself:

“I love the life Max and I have built here. England is home for me now.

“And there is nothing cuter than having a baby growing up with a British accent.”

Well, that’s as good a reason as any really, isn’t it?

Kimberly says that keeping her pregnancy under wraps was a bit of a struggle at times, especially when she had to do a naked photo shoot for a fitness campaign! How on earth she managed this, we’ll never know, but it must have been in the early stages as she doesn’t think she’d get away with it anymore: “I feel like in the last day or two I have literally gone ‘pop’.”

The singer is still best friends with her former band mate Ashley Roberts and says that she was delighted when she heard the news:

“When I told her, it was so emotional – she was thrilled for us, which was lovely.”

Oh – and guess what? It’s a girl!

“We went for the second scan, at 20 weeks, and they said, ‘You’re going to have a daughter’.

“And then when I felt her kick, it really connected with me – I’m just delighted.”

Ok – we’re coming clean. We have, on occasion, stepped out without sun cream. But never again!

Watch as these people look into the camera while an ultra-violet light shines on their faces, showing the not-yet-visible effects the sun is having on their skin.

Now, where did we leave that factor 50?

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have become the latest celebrities to do the Ice Bucket Challenge – a social media phenomenon where people get nominated to dump a bucket of icy water over their heads to raise awareness of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

How exactly does this raise awareness for ALS? Who knows. It does seem to be working though as over $4 million has been raise for the charities involved. I'm sure this is why all the celebrities are doing it, and not so they can have wet t-shirts on camera.

Selena was nominated by Ryan Seacrest and Taylor Swift to get drenched, and she gamely took up the challenge, sharing the result on Instagram.

Selena posted another video afterward nominating Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse and James Franco to take part in the challenge.

A few hours later, clearly social media stalking his on-again-off-again girlfriend, Justin Bieber posted his video. We can't help but feel he didn't put as much effort in however. Is that water even cold?

Bieber decided his nomination should go to… President Barack Obama. Yeah, I'm sure he'll get right on that.

Michael Bey is the director of some of the biggest blockbusters of our time, such as Transformers and Armageddon. He’s quite found of explosions and dramatic music – unlike the producers of Pixar’s Up who relied more on the sweet story and nice plinky plonky music to set the scene.

However, someone decided to give Up the Michael Bay treatment, and now it looks like a VERY different film! We’re not sure we like it!

It was inevitable that something as popular as Tinder would have a song written about it, but we didn't expect it to be this good.

The American indie band Miracles of Modern Science (MOMS) has teamed up with Kristin Slipp from Cuddle Magic to create a new song 'Swipe'.

MOMS say the song deals with their experiences with online dating sites and apps like Tinder and OkCupid. We can relate!

When recent Harvard graduate Nuseir Yassin went on a two-month backpacking trip around the world, he decided to reach out to strangers across the world with the help of a Rubik's Cube.

Across 11 countries, Nuseir got 84 strangers (plus one snake and one monkey) to do a single move on the puzzle, so they could collectively solve it.

Nuseir wrote about the video project:

"After graduating from Harvard College in May, 2014, I decided to backpack for two months and see what the world had to offer."

"I also wanted to solve a 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube throughout the entirety of my journey. To do so, I had one person do one move only in different locations I had travelled to. This is the final result."

There are to be even more cast changes in the long running sci-fi series as Jenna Coleman has announced she is quitting her role on Doctor Who.

Jenna – known for her years on Emmerdale as Jasmine Thomas – plays the Doctor's companion Clara Oswald, a role she first appeared in 2012. This years Christmas episode will reportedly be her last.

This comes not long after the recasting of the Doctor himself. Matt Smith stepped down as the Doctor is an episode aired last year, and will be replaced in the upcoming series.

The next Doctor will be Peter Capaldi, best known for playing sweary spin doctor Malcom Tucker in The Thick of It. The new series is set to start on August 23rd.

A series insider has said that the decision was “mutual”.

"It's important to keep the series moving and fast-paced," they explained, "and the time is just starting to feel right and the feeling is that it could be a perfect Christmas storyline."

"By the time she leaves she will be one of the longest-standing companions ever. She has been absolutely brilliant in the role but everyone agrees it is a part that should change after a period."

Jenna said that she's really happy about the move, but for the moment isn't thinking about the future.

“It's one of those jobs that will only happen once – the whole adventure that it brings. The key is not to worry about the future, and enjoy it.”

Grey's Anatomy is showing so signs of slacking in it's 11th series, as they have a new addition to the long running show.

Oscar winning actress Geena Davis will be joining the cast in the next series as a new surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial hospital. She is reported to have an important storyline arc in the upcoming season.

Geena won her Oscar back in 1989 for Best Supporting Actress in the film The Accidental Tourist. She is most famous however for her roles in Thelma and Louise opposite Susan Sarandon, and as President Mackenzie Allen in Commander in Chief.

Other big news for series 11 (spoiler alert!) includes the rumours of marriage troubles for Meredith McDreamy, with some speculation of a divorce for the on-screen couple.

Producers have said that the upcoming series will focus heavily on Meredith, which may give weight to the rumours.

”It’s really a Meredith-centric season,” says Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey’s Anatomy. “There’s a lot of growth. She’s lost her person. Her sister has showed up. Her husband is chafing to go someplace else."

"She’s got all these things going on. … But for me right now, it feels like it’s Meredith. I’m feeling her more acutely because she’s lost her person.”

Actor Michael Cera, famous for his roles in Arrested Development, Scott Pilgrim, Superbad and a hundred other great films, has released a surprise album.

The album, titled True That, was released on BandCamp this week and amazingly, isn't terrible. It's 18 tracks long and gives the charmingly sparse bio: “Michael Cera was born in Canada in 1988 at the tender age of zero." It's free to stream, or you can buy the album online for $7.

This isn't Michael's first try at the music biz, he's played bass for the supergroup Mister Heavenly, and played the mandolin for Weezer's 2010 album Hurley.

Speaking about his debut album, Michael seems embarrassed more than anything else.

"I didn't want anyone to take it seriously or think that I was taking it seriously by it being a big thing."

"It's there now. Now people can hear the stuff I've spent time with and care about for a long time."
