When you travel to places like New York or Dubai, you realise how small (and short) Dublin City is.

And even though the city has changed drastically over the years, there's still no building taller than 70 metres.

Celtic Tiger developer Johnny Ronan tried to change that by proposing to build Dublin's tallest skyscraper on the South Quays, however, his bid has been rejected.

The Irish businessman wanted to build a 22-storey hotel and office block just off Tara Street, but there were many people against the plans.

And it looks like Dublin City Council has listened to the opponents, as they believe the hotel would have an ill-effect on the character of the area.

The Council claim that the 88-metre building would have a "significant and detrimental visual impact" on the city.

Dublin City Council said in a statement: "The proposal would be reason of visual intrusion, have a significant and detrimental visual impact on a number of important views and vistas in the city including from College Green and the Trinity College Campus."

They also noted that the "scale, bulk and height" would take away from “one of the city’s most important architectural set pieces,” The Custom House.

Johnny has one month to appeal the decision, but we honestly can't see it going anywhere at the moment.

It seems like it's not all rainbows and sunshine for Louis Walsh as he has been rejected by TV3 for his Ireland's Got Talent idea.

The music manager is very eager to set up the show, following the success of Britain's Got Talent in the past few years.

TV3 boss, Lynda McQuaid confirmed to the Irish Independant that she spoke with Louis and heard him out, but ultimately rejected the idea.

“We’ve had a long debate, myself and Louis. But I don’t think Ireland’s Got Talent is very TV3, I don’t think it would work,” she said.

“I don’t think we have a culture of working men’s clubs, which is where it came out of,” she told the paper.

“My feeling is that an Ireland’s Got Talent would start to feel very parochial, very quickly. So it’s been ruled out," she admitted.

“He’s not happy about that, because that’s the one he really wants to do – he thinks that the talent is out there.”

Sorry Louis, its seems like your time may have passed.

We get it – rejection isn’t nice. Especially when you’ve just asked someone to put your meat in their mouth – how embarrassing! But this guy’s reaction on Tinder went WAY over the top.

Over the course of 33 messages, he tells the girl who rejected him how she isn’t good looking enough to reject him, and then some.

It sounds to us like someone needs their ego deflated – fast!

There are some way you should not react when you get rejected. Yes, it feels awful and yes your confidence is knocked. Doing the following won't help with any of that:

1. Wallow
There’s no pity like self pity. You are the only person in the world who has ever felt like this. Not for too long though…

2. Never Leave Your House Ever Again
Darkness is now your only friend. Put down the Gossip Girl DVD boxset and go for a walk. You have yet to meet your Chuck and he may be too out for a walk…

3. Creep on Them
You are never going to see something you want to see, so why bother?

4. Change Your Whole Outlook on Life
You do believe in true love…you do.

5. Become A Cynical Arse
Loathing couples and anyone who actually seems to be happy will not make you happy.

6.Take it Personally
One single person didn't want you, big deal.

7. Comfort Yourself in the Arms of Another
Do you reeeeaaallly want to do that?

8. Plot Revenge
Time to drop it now, leave them alone….

9. Stop Taking Care of Yourself
Take off the sweatpants, it's 1pm. What would Karl Lagerfeld say?

10. Rehearse What You Will Say To Them When They Eventually Come Crawling Back
You don't need to rehearse it because if it should happen, you know better than to say anything at all…All you need is one move:
