It may have been over 10 years since the last Harry Potter book hit the shelves, but that hasn't stopped hardcore fans from keeping the the story alive.

From Harry's suspected immortality to claims that Draco Malfoy is actually a werewolf, fans of the magical world of witchcraft and wizardry are never short of a far-fetched theory to add another dimension to the much-loved series.

And while most of these anecdotes have absolutely zero truth behind them, every now and again a theory comes along that makes us believe there could be more to the story after all.

Unfortunately, this is not one of those.

A popular belief among fans is that the Leaky Cauldron, a pub located in the magical world, was inspired by a pub called The Old Firehouse in Exeter, where J.K Rowling attended university.

And while it seems like a perfectly legitimate assumption, the reality isn't quite so idyllic.

The author was quick to shut down the theory after an article published on Devon Live suggested the pub, which is now up for sale, inspired the fantasy bar.

“Never visited this pub in my life,” she tweeted.

She then went on to offer the names of the pubs she did visit, suggesting that perhaps the Leaky Cauldron could have been modelled after one of them.

However, some Twitter users were quick to tell the J.K about the pub's legendary “pizza and cider selection”, so we're guessing it's worth a visit either way.

A fan-made Harry Potter prequel film is currently breaking the internet – Voldemort : Origins of the Heir.

The prequel follows the life (and lies) of Tom Morvolo Riddle, as he is pursued for his early crimes before he became the most powerful Dark wizard in history.

More than six months after the original trailer was released, we have the full, hour-long feature film in our view.

The film begins with the disclaimer:

'This film is a non-commercial fan film made by fans for fans and is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or associated with Warner Bros. or J.K. Rowling.'

Warner Brothers Studios had a private discussion with the makers of the prequel, Tryangle Films, and allowed the film to go ahead as long as it was a non-profit project.

The storyline follows Grisha MacLaggen, heir of Gryffindor, as she searches for the soon-to-be-Voldemort after his murder of Hufflepuff descendant Madam Hepzibah Smith.

The murder, famous in wizarding criminal history, is blamed on her house elf, but Grisha is convinced that Tom Riddle is guilty (and she's not wrong, spoiler alert).

In case we give to much away, maybe you should watch it for yourself below.

Part of what makes world of Harry Potter so immersive and distinct is the language that JK Rowling developed to embellish the stories and lives of the characters we know and love.

The iconic author created an entire dictionary of words that are unique to the wizarding world, made up entirely by Rowling's imagination with a little help from Latin and folklore.

As you might have realised if you read the books first before watching the movies, some of the words and phrases read quite differently to how they are spoken.

A prime example is Voldemort, which is pronounced with a hard 't', even in the films.

However, Rowling revealed that she intended the 't' to be silent, and for Voldemort to be with the soft, French pronunciation of 'mor,' without the 't' sound.

Along with He Who Must Not Be Named, there are quite a few other words outlined by Pottermore, which are mispronounced on the regular.

Hermione is one, as it seems that much like Victor Krum, we readers were baffled by the name which is derived from Greek mythology.

As we're all aware by now, her name is pronounced  ‘Her-my-oh-nee,' rather than 'Her-me-own.'

In keeping with the mispronounced names theme, centaur Firenze also had us confused – apparently it's pronounced 'Fee-renzy,' and is an Italian name.

When it comes to wizarding finance, the money increments discussed in the books are galleons, sickles and knuts, and it's the humble copper knuts which seem to have us tongue tied.

We assumed that knuts was pronounced with a silent 'k', but alas, we were wrong – it's actually pronounced ka-nuts.' Baffling.

Next up we have a few spells and potion ingredients, the names of which were more befuddling than the magic they evoked.

If you fancied conjuring the Dark Mark, Morsmordre was the incantation for you.  While we always enjoyed the delicious word 'smore' being wedged in the middle, it doesn't get used in pronunciation – it's actually a bit of a tongue twister and is pronounced 'mores-more-druh.'

Whether Snape is grilling you about Potions trivia or Ron needs to be saved from unintentional poisoning, the bezoar is the unexpected star of the Harry Potter series.

Luckily, this goat-derived ingredient is pronounced much like it it reads, 'bee-zore.'

Lastly, we have Amortentia, the most powerful love potion known to man (either Muggle or wizard).

We're sure Romilda Vane knows this one off the top of her head, but this powerful little potion is pronounced 'Amore-ten-tia' rather than 'Amore-ten-sheeah.'

Now we're in the mood for a Harry Potter marathon…

Harry Potter fans could hardly contain their excitement during last night's Golden Globes ceremony, after two of the series' best-loved characters reunited on stage.

Emma Watson and Robert Pattison caused a bit of frenzy when they teamed up to present the Best Television Limited Series to the winner Big Little Lies, some 13 years after appeared on screen together.

For those of you unfamiliar with the pairing, cast your minds back to 2005 when the actors starred as Hermione Granger and Cedric Diggory in fourth film in the magical franchise, Harry Potter an the Goblet of Fire.

It was Robert's first big movie role and was no doubt the launching pad for a successful career that saw him go on to star as Edward Cullen in the Twilght saga and a host of independent films such as Remember Me and Water for Elephants

Needless to say, the mini reunion sent Harry Potter fans into overdrive with many hoping that the duo would be joined by Gary Oldman who played Sirius Black in the series.

You know Christmas is just around the corner when the sell by date on your milk is December 25th, and that happened today.

Santa is putting the finishing touches on his creations, and packing up his sleigh for the big journey ahead.

All the while, we are getting last minute presents, putting up decorations, and spending time with the people we love.

Decorations are definitely the best part of Christmas time, the lights, the trees and the stockings…

Okay, while we're on the topic of stockings… can we kindly introduce you to these GLORIOUS Harry Potter stockings.

Available in the form of Gryfindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, the stockings feature the house crest along with specific colourful decoration.

There is also a metal charm emblem. The stocking is made from 100% polyester and measures approx. 43cm in length.

And while they're gorgeous and we want them all – they are not particularly budget friendly, at £28 a pop.

They're official merchandise, being sold by the Warner Brothers studios, via their online store.

However, if these stockings are a bit out of budget, fear not as the site has loads of other wizarding goodies that won't break the bank.

They have a full selection of sweets from the series, such as chocolate frogs and exploding bon bons – starting at just £6 (what a glorious stocking filler!)

The site is also selling gorgeous tree ornaments from just £10. So many options.

Believe it or not, it's been 20 years since J.K Rowling let us in to her magical world of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and for that, we are forever grateful.

However, as any self-proclaimed Harry Potter super fan will know, there was a time when it looked like the series might not be published at all.

In fact, as an unknown author, J.K had her debut novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, rejected by not one, not two, but 12 publishers, before it was eventually picked up by the clever folk at Bloomsbury.

We know what you're thinking.

How on earth did this worldwide phenomenon slip through the cracks so many times?

How could they not see its unlimited potential?

And while you might never find the answers to these questions, you can now make up your own mind, because in celebration of Harry Potter's 20th anniversary, J.K Rowling’s original pitch has gone on display at the new Harry Potter: A History Of Magic exhibition at London’s British Library.

It reads:

"Harry Potter lives with his aunt, uncle and cousin because his parents died in a car-crash—or so he has been told. The Dursleys don't like Harry asking questions; in fact, they don't seem to like anything about him, especially the very odd things that keep happening around him (which Harry himself can't explain).

The Dursleys' greatest fear is that Harry will discover the truth about himself, so when letters start arriving for him near his eleventh birthday, he isn't allowed to read them. However, the Dursleys aren't dealing with an ordinary postman, and at midnight on Harry's birthday the gigantic Rubeus Hagrid breaks down the door to make sure Harry gets to read his post at last. Ignoring the horrified Dursleys, Hagrid informs Harry that he is a wizard, and the letter he gives Harry explains that he is expected at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in a month's time

To the Dursleys' fury, Hagrid also reveals the truth about Harry's past. Harry did not receive the scar on his forehead in a car-crash; it is really the mark of the great dark sorcerer Voldemort, who killed Harry's mother and father but mysteriously couldn't kill him, even though he was a baby at the time. Harry is famous among the witches and wizards who live in secret all over the country because Harry's miraculous survival marked Voldemort's downfall.

So Harry, who has never had friends or family worth the name, sets off for a new life in the wizarding world. He takes a trip to London with Hagrid to buy his Hogwarts equipment (robes, wand, cauldron, beginners' draft and potion kit) and shortly afterwards, sets off for Hogwarts from Kings Cross Station (platform nine and three quarters) to follow in his parents' footsteps.

Harry makes friends with Ronald Weasley (sixth in his family to go to Hogwarts and tired of having to use second-hand spellbooks) and Hermione Granger (cleverest girl in the year and the only person in the class to know all the uses of dragon's blood). Together, they have their first lessons in magic — astronomy up on the tallest tower at two in the morning, herbology out in the greenhouses where the…"

So, if you currently feel like the entire world is plotting against you, just remember that even one of the greatest writers of the 21st century faced her fair share of rejection.

Forget pumpkin spice, butterbeer is the real flavour of the autumn season.

Harry Potter fans will be familiar with the iconic drink which is hugely popular in the world of witchcraft and wizardy, and now, it's finally time for us muggles to get in on the action.

Sugar Shack Donuts, a US based bake shop, have created the ultimate Harry Potter-inspired treat in the form of the butterbeer doughnut – and honestly, we're drooling already.

Complete with a shimmery glaze, sparkling sprinkles and gold stars, these little pieces of heaven are every bit as magical as you'd expect.

Oh, and did we mention every doughnut is topped with its very own golden snitch?

But alas, these beauts are currently only available in Alexandria, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., so unless your willing to zip across the Atlantic on your Nimbus 2000, you'll have to admire them from afar for now.

Or, if you fancy getting creative in the kitchen, you could always try to conjur up your own magical creation.

We reckon they'd go down a treat at any Halloween party!
