It may be almost 20 years (stop, we know) since the first Harry Potter book was published, but we're still desperately clinging onto hope that our Hogwarts letter got lost in the post.

Clearly, someone else feels the same way, as Harry's Hogwarts letter from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was up for auction and sold for an absolute fortune.

'The hero envelope features a real red-wax Hogwarts seal, unlike the many entirely printed versions that were also used in the scene,' reads the description.

While the letter prop was originally estimated to go for up to €5,000, the final bid was actually more in line with the cost of a Muggle education.

The letter sold at the auction for a whopping £30,000, or €33,807. Casual.

That's a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree, but we guess it's worth it for a wizarding education.

The Prop Store Auction was also selling a number of other HP items, including Ron Weasley's iconic Howler sent to him by Mrs Weasley in the second film.

The lot closed with a bid of £7,500, or €8453.

If you are a Harry Potter mega fan with the cash to spare, we're sure it's worth it to own your own piece of Hogwarts history.

Zoe Sugg, aka Zoella, is often cited as one of the biggest beauty YouTubers, gurus and bloggers in the world.

The 27-year-old has been filming YouTube videos in her bedroom for the best part of a decade, but the lifestyle influencer actually started out on a much bigger screen.

The makeup devotee was actually in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which she has previously mentioned in videos.

A post shared by Zoella (@zoella) on

'I was 10 when they first started filming for the first film, and my primary school is in the village they used,' the beauty guru wrote in a blog post.

'So they came and asked everyone in my year (which was probably about 7 children) if we wanted to be extras.'

'Of course we said yes. I was in Hufflepuff. The first year, we were used in Snape's potion class scene.'

'I am not seen in the film annoyingly, but its nice to know i was there. We also got to mingle with the cast, we watched spider man with them.'

The blogger goes on to reveal that Devon Murray, who plays Seamus Finnegan in the film series, asked her out, to which she politely declined.

'I was 10 years old and boys scared me,' she said, adding a 'haha.'

'I was also in the second film…again..you cannot see me. I went to London to be on the Hogwarts express…which was so exciting.'

So she has been to Hogwarts AND boasts the biggest channel on YouTube? No we're not jelly, you are.

Potterheads rejoice!

It's time to put all that wizarding knowledge to good use because the good folk over at the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio tour are looking for new recruits.

Applicants should have enthusiasm and personality in bucket loads as well as a flair for customer service and a passion for all things magical.

There are a number of positions available including Interactor, Sales Associate and Warehouse Associate, and according to the tour's official website, there will an assessment day held on Friday September 22 – so you better get a move one.

The official job description reads:

"The warm welcome that visitors receive from all our employees makes a huge difference to their excitement and enjoyment of the Studio Tour. If you have enthusiasm, personality and a flair for customer service, this could be the place for you with either a full-time, part-time or seasonal role.

"Our Visitor Hosts are the frontline team, responsible for meeting, greeting and assisting our visitors upon arrival and again when they depart. Our knowledgeable Interactors are full of behind-the-scenes filmmaking secrets which they are eager to share, and our Retail Associates help visitors find the perfect souvenir following their special day with us."

And while successful applicants will need to relocate to London, we're pretty sure we'd be willing to make that sacrifice.

Harry Potter fans, buckle up, because there is a new HP adventure coming your way.

The crew over at the BBC have announced that a new documentary will be released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

This will coincide with a delightful exhibition at The British Library called Harry Potter: A History of Magic.

The doc will go behind the scenes of the exhibit, bringing the magical experience to those of us outside the UK.

The exhibition is set to feature relics from the wizarding world and JK Rowling's personal collections.

'A History Of Magic includes an interview with J.K. Rowling talking about some of the personal items she has donated to the exhibition whilst readings from famous fans playfully recreate some of the best loved spells, potions and magical moments from the series, exploring the origins of the world of Hogwarts, from basilisks through to broomsticks,' reads the BBC's description.

The documentary doesn't yet have a release date, but we're hoping it won't be too long before the doc is on our screens.

Until then, we'll be donning our Harry Potter pjs and rewatching the entire series.

Okay, so it may be almost 20 years (stop, we know) since the first Harry Potter book was published, but we're still desperately clinging onto hope that our Hogwarts letter got lost in the post.

It's safe to say that the books bewitched the minds and ensnared the senses of millions of readers, and wizarding world rituals, like getting a Hogwarts acceptance letter, are dear to our hearts.

By the time the HP film series came out, translating years of our imaginary wizarding world into bold cinematic visuals, we were already hooked.

So imagine our delight when we heard that Harry's very own Hogwarts letter, as in the actual film prop, was going up for auction.

'The hero envelope features a real red-wax Hogwarts seal, unlike the many entirely printed versions that were also used in the scene,' reads the description.

'The envelope remains sealed with a letter seemingly contained within.'

'The envelope is in excellent condition; the wax seal has cracked and two small fragments are missing, but the Hogwarts crest is still clearly identifiable.'

The prop is expected to fetch between £3,000 – £5,000 at auction.

If you were more of a Weasley fan, then you're also in luck.

Other props from the films that will be up for auction include Ron Weasley's iconic Howler.

'Ronald Weasley! How dare you steal that car…' still gives us shivers.

Okay, nobody panic, but if your Hogwarts letter never came then this family event could be something to drag your kiddo, little siblings or nieces or nephews to (not that they wouldn't enjoy it too, but just in case you needed an excuse).

Aspiring wizards and witches will descend on Co Mayo this Halloween for some seriously spooky lessons at Ashford Castle.

From potions to defence against the dark arts, the castle is holding its annual Wizard School running from October 28 to November 4, and we'll be brushing up on our Harry Potter trivia for the occasion.

The family friendly event involves a two-day magical program that includes a Forbidden Forest Family Treasure Hunt, a visit to the hiding place of Dingle the Owl, an afternoon of creativity in the Chamber of Art, and a Wizards Dinner before a supervised Harry Potter Movie Evening.

On day two, you and your mini Dumbledore's Army will become the House Elves' little helpers at Cookery School before an afternoon Chamber of Witchcraft & Wizardry and another Harry Potter Movie Evening in the hotel cinema.

With its towering stone walls and hidden passageways, the 800-year-old Ashford Castle is the perfect backdrop for this magical stay.

It also helps that the hotel was named as one of the top 25 travel experiences in the world in the Chad Clarke Certified awards recently. Casual.

There is also tennis, golf, cycling and falconry on the grounds which are set on 350 acres on the shores of Lough Corrib with a stunning backdrop of woodlands, lake, river, and mountains.

At €1,080 for the full two-day package (two adults and two children) all this wizarding isn't cheap so you'll need to start saving all that Muggle Money.

Remember that final, final chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows book (and film, of course)?

It was a flash forward, nineteen years after Harry and his pals graduated from Hogwarts.

The chapter described what had happened since the famous wizards left school, including the fact that Harry married Ginny Weasley (cuties), and had three gorgeous kids together.

Lily Potter II, James Potter II and Albus Potter were Harry and Ginny's aptly-named children, who all went on to follow in their parent's footsteps.

This all brings us back to our story, and the fact that today is the day that Albus Potter starts in Hogwarts.

We have the INCREDIBLE J.K Rowling to thank, as she kindly reminded us all of this important anniversary.

The author tweeted her followers this morning, marking little Albus's special day!

Naturally, Twitter erupted, which led to some really brilliant fan commentary, and some serious nostalgia:

It may seem like Christmas is miles away, buy stores across the country have been starting to stock up on festive produce.

Actually, full Christmas shops have even started opening in popular department stores (and it's only August!)

We're of the opinion that it's never too early for a sprinkle of festive cheer – especially when it involves some Harry Potter related joy.

The wonderful humans at Penneys have jumped on the Christmas bandwagon, and are officially selling tree baubles inspired by the wizarding world of Harry Potter

There are a host of different types of festive baubles, from sparkling Platform 9 3/4 decorations, to sets of ornaments inspired by the four Hogwarts houses.

The set of four Hogwarts baubles costs a very reasonable 4 quid (for the full set, we might add), but some of the glitzier baubles are more pricey.

Also, if you're not quite ready to face the Christmas music, but still fancy some Harry Potter goodies, fear not.

Penneys have recently launched a homeware range, which offers Muggles and Wizards the chance to deck out their bedrooms and kitchens with some seriously magical goodies.

From mugs and fairy lights, to cushions and bed linen – Penneys have you covered.

Honestly, we're getting excited for Christmas – we hate to admit it though.

Harry Potter makeup brushes have been a thing for quite a while, and just when we thought they couldn't get any better.

The brushes are designed after the magical wands from the Harry Potter movies, and they are as amazing as you can imagine.

The set of five brushes includes eyeshadow utensils that are guaranteed to make your makeup flawless.

The five piece set is described as having a metallic finish with heavy metal handles, and nylon hair that is vegan and cruelty-free.

The brushes are individually plastic wrapped, and represent the wands of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore and Voldemort.

We haven't even gotten to the best part yet.

The brushes are CRAZY affordable, at just €11.37 (plus shipping) – so really, we have no excuse.

And if Harry Potter isn't your thing (sad for you), the gorgeous folks at Cookie Dough Deco offer many other themed brushes, from mermaids to Beauty and the Beast.

Honestly, we need these stunning brushes in our lives.

Have you ever sat back and wished that the wizarding world of Harry Potter was real? Well, so have we.

With that in mind, we have some siriusly (lol) exciting news for you all!

Harry Potter's childhood home is officially on the market, and it's actually super cute, and we NEED to live there.

You can buy the Potter family home childhood home in Godric’s Hollow, if you have a cool £1 million lying around, and don't mind the fact that it was the place where Voldemort killed the Potter parents.

The listing on the real estate company Carter Jones’ website is for the De Vere House in the village of Lavenham in Suffolk, England.

While James, Lily, and Harry Potter didn’t really all live there (or did they?), the house was used in both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as the setting for the Potter’s Godric’s Hollow home.

Needless to say, the house is in much better shape than the time Harry and Hermione saw it ruined by dark magic and time in The Deathly Hallows — Part One.

The home is furnished to perfection, in the most rustically chic way!
