gone girl

Anyone who has seen Gone Girl will know that there was one particularly gory scene which you may have watched through your fingers.

And it involved Rosamund Pike and Neil Patrick Harris…on a bed… with a box cutter.

Yeah we know, the memories are stressing us out too.

Reflecting on her preparation for her role as Amy Dunne in the gripping thriller, Rosamund told Graham Norton that in order to play the part to the best of her ability she enlisted the help of a local butchers… and a Dora the Explorer doll.

No, seriously.

Opening up about the scene which saw her character kill her former boyfriend during sex, Rosamund said: "I'd never cut anyone's throat so I went to a local butchers and with great determination set about the carcasses with a Stanley knife in full view of customers."

And not only did Rosamund get knife-happy in front of the locals, she also did a little improvising with poor ol' Dora.

"I rehearsed with a Dora the Explorer doll in my back yard, probably in full view of the neighbours!" she laughed while chatting about the movie which had audiences on the edge of their seats back in 2014.

And if anything, this little reveal has made the whole thing even more terrifying.

It’s hard to believe that it was three summers ago that all we could talk about was the thrilling summer read, Gone Girl.

And for a refreshing change, the movie was almost as good as the book. This was in no small part thanks to the stellar cast and the brilliant direction from David Fincher.

While author of the novel, Gillian Flynn, has remained sceptical on whether or not she may get down to writing a sequel, we do have one ally on our side – none other than Charlize Theron.

The Oscar-winning actress stars in another on-screen adaption of Ms Flynn’s, Dark Places. And it appears that Charlize is as eager as to try and get Gillian to write the next instalment of Gone Girl as we are.

In an interview with E!, the Mad Max: Fury Road star joined reporter Marc Malkin in attempting to woo the author into telling us what happens next to Amy and Nick Dunne.

“Come on,” Charlize urges. “You have to.”

To which Ms Flynn replied, “I don’t know if I can go back to the Dunnes quite yet – those diabolical Dunnes. I think about it every once in a while… I do. It’s hard to shake sometimes.”

Well, at least that didn’t rule anything out!

Thakfully Charlize had a fool-proof plan (hmmm) which she revealed. “I’ll get her drunk tonight and make her sign a contract,” the 39-year-old proposed.

Although it doesn’t look like anything is going to be in the works anytime soon, Gillian has said that she wouldn’t rule out a second film in the future if she could get David Fincher, Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike back on board.

The director of Gone Girl, David Fincher, has said that he would be suspicious of Ben Affleck if he were Jennifer Garner.

In the DVD commentary of the 2014 hit Gone Girl, David said he would have been suspicious based on the actor's on-set talents.

In this film, Ben played a cheating husband who becomes the suspect when his wife goes missing.

In the DVD commentary, Fincher explained how Ben had an amazing ability to make up fake phone conversations during filming.

“This is something that Ben is extraordinarily good at, when he has to cook up a phone conversation, when he has to hear somebody on the other end of the phone,” the director said on the commentary, according to the New York Daily News.

“It’s kinda stunning how …if I was his wife, I think I would be very suspicious, always, of whoever just called because he has a real gift at being able to insinuate a conversation,” he continued.

Ben and Jennifer recently announced that they were going their separate ways after ten years of marriage together.

The pair were both spotted separately over the weekend, and they are both still pictured wearing their wedding rings.

Ben was spotted wearing his wedding band while at Comic Con in San diego, while Jennifer was wearing hers while filming in Atlanta.

The couple have three kids together — Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3.

A source told Us Weekly that “Ben is distraught over the divorce and is having a very hard time,”

“He doesn’t have a lot of close friends to lean on right now, and Jennifer has always been the one he goes to.”

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn is every bit as creepy and incredible as her bestselling novel, Gone Girl – if you haven't read it then we highly recommend you check it out.

Now, the trailer for the movie adaption of Dark Places has been released and we are SO excited to see it.

Starring Charlize Theron as Libby, a woman who witnessed her family being murdered as a child, the movie sets out to find out what really happened that night.

Libby has always maintained that her brother Ben killed her mum and sisters – but is she missing a vital piece of the puzzle?

Approached by Lyle who's hobby lies in solving murders with The Kill Club, Libby slowly realises all is not what she has always believed…

This movie is set to be as huge as Gone Girl and we think Chalize Theron is going to be the perfect fit for Libby.

Ben Affleck is a brave man! Not only was he willing to put his manhood on show for a new film, but he chose to do it for the biggest films of the year.

The actor revealed that he got totally full frontal during one blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene in Gone Girl, which hits cinemas tomorrow.

"There is some very brief nudity…This is a warts and all movie," he explained in an interview.

"It can have no vanity. You have to see the naked underbelly of this character."

And, in case you were under any illusion about what to expect, Ben pretty much spelled things out. "The penis is in there!" he said during the chat.

"It costs extra. It's IMAX penis! You've gotta pay fifteen bucks to see it in 3-D," he joked. "It looks better in 3-D."

Of course, if you think Ben's looking a little bit… petite… there' s a reason for that. "It was a very cold set. It was freezing. It was subzero," said the actor. Suuuure!
