After months of keeping us on our toes, it has been confirmed that there will be a Downton Abbey film!

The beloved television series went on for six drama-filled seasons, winning three Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmys and a BAFTA.

The show has gained global attention, becoming the most nominated, non-U.S. television show in Emmy history!

As Violet says, ""I'm not a romantic, but even I concede that the heart does not exist solely for the purpose to pump blood." And our hearts beat for Downton Abbey!

Details of the film’s plot have yet to be released, but we do know it will feature the next chapter for the Crawley family.

It has been announced that one of the series’ key cast members will NOT be in the film. Lady Rose MacClare, played by Lily James, will not be in the upcoming drama.

When asked the reason for her absence, she told People: “My character Rose moved off to New York, so it would be farfetched to bring her back.”

She explained that because it was a film, it would be too hard to fit Rose in. Otherwise, she would have loved to appear in a cameo.

The film’s delay of production had been due to scheduling conflicts with different cast members.

"There has been a lot of goodwill from all of us, but logistically, it's a bit of a minefield. It's very difficult to get 22 actors together," said Joanne Froggatt, Anna Bates in the series.

Finally overcoming this obstacle, production for the film has officially began this summer, and we can’t wait to see what happens next!

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has already started her 2019 Oscar campaign, judging by the release of her anticipated new film.

The talented star dons an impressive wig, impeccable accent and prepares to clash with fellow Oscar alum Margo Robbie (a surprising cast choice for the role of Queen Elizabeth I) as she heads to battle as Mary, Queen of Scots.

The anticipated film was written by House of Cards' Beau Williamson and based on the biography by John Guy, it revolves around the rebellious and charismatic Mary who chose to fight for her native thrown instead of being Queen of France at just 16.

Widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry. Instead, she returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of the compelling Elizabeth I and for a time, each young Queen beholds her “sister” in fear and fascination.

But when Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth’s sovereignty, betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies within each court imperil both thrones – and change history.

Watch the trailer below:

Historical liberties were taken with this one, but this is going to be some showdown, helmed by two incredible actresses at the top of their game.

We can't wait.

Mary, Queen of Scots will be released on January 18th, 2019

The drama is set in Dublin during the 1950s, where we meet Benny as she starts a new chapter of her life at university, along with her two friends- Nan and Eve.

The movie follows the girls as they try to adapt to their new lives in Dublin after growing up in the small Irish village Knockglen.

A number of female film stars came together to stage a protest against gender discrimination in the industry at the Cannes Film Festival this weekend.

Cate Blanchett, Kristen Stewart and Selma Hayek were among those who took part in the demonstration on Saturday, which saw a group of actresses and film-makers link arms as they walked the red carpet.

Speaking to reporters, Cate Blanchette made a powerful speech about the importance of the cause.

"Women are not a minority in the world, yet the current state of the industry says otherwise," she declared.

"We are 82 women, representing the number of female directors who have climbed these stairs since the first edition of the Cannes Film Festival in 1946. In the same period, 1,688 male directors have climbed these very same stairs.

She went on the shed light on the fact that just two women have been awarded the highest prize at the prestigious film festival while 71 men have received the honour.

"The prestigious Palme d'Or has been bestowed upon 71 male directors, too numerous to mention by name, but only two female directors."

All of the festivals female jury members took part in the protest which was described as a "massive milestone towards change."

Popular dating app Bumble has just launched a special fund to help female film-makers tackle the "shocking" gender imbalance in the industry.

The Female Film Force offers aspiring female storytellers in the UK and Ireland the chance to win one of five £20,000 grants to make a short film, with the hope that they will shown at film festivals in 2020.

It comes after a controversial award season which saw just six women, including Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, take home an Oscar, compared with 33 men.

Those behind the initiative say the winning films will "embody Bumble's values of female empowerment, equality and kindness."

Each entry must include an all-female team of writers, directors and producers, and will be judged by a panel of industry professional, chaired by radio personality Edith Bowman.

As well as finanical backing, successful applicants will also relieve guidance from experts as part of a mentoring programme created in partnership with Women in Film and TV.

Whitney Wolfe, the founder and chief executive of Bumble, said: “The imbalance we saw over this year’s awards season at the Oscars, Golden Globes and the Baftas was truly shocking.

“Women are incredible storytellers, and creators, and we want to see more of their stories told.

“We know how many talented women there are out there – and we want to see them represented accurately. There is no reason why one of these films shouldn’t be nominated or win an award – and that’s the vision for this project; real opportunity, real stories, real change.”

The five winning entries will be announced in July, with the aim to have the films finished and ready to showcase at an industry event in January 2019.

Prepare to be terrified and confused in equal parts because the first trailer for Jennifer Lawrence's new horror film Mother! has landed – and it's creep AF.

The cryptic trailer has left fans with a lot of questions, however it did reveal that Jennifer's character appears obsessed with a brick wall (which at one point is dripping with blood), after allowing a strange man sleep in the house she shares with her partner, played by Javier Bardem.

The short clip also suggests that Javier Bardem's character may know more about the visitors than we originally thought, saying “all I'm trying to do is bring life into this house. Open the door to new people, new ideas.”

Also starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Kristen Wiig and Ed Harris, this star-studded horror flick looks set to be a box office smash.

Darren Aronofsky's Mother! is set to hit Irish cinemas on September 15.

We're bracing ourselves for the next few episodes of Pretty Little Liars, because when episode ten is out – that'll be the end.

If you're like us, then you went through secondary school and college watching the series, and now as working women, we're still holding our breaths as A (or A.D.) threatens the Liars.

But, if this interview is anything to go by, we could be in for more than another series. We could be in for a movie down the line.

The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke to Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, and Sasha Pieterse, and while they said it's definitely time to end the small screen drama, they're totally open to making a movie.

"Rosewood goes on, there’s always more to say," Sasha said. "Sex And The City had two movies, so you never say never, right?" Shay added.

"It would absolutely be nice to see the PLLs again in five years, but I'll be catching up with them sooner than that. ”

And as far as the story surrounding the movie, Troian thinks some time would have to pass to see where the Liars are in later life.

“Once this mystery is done, it all depends on what the story would be. Would it just be about what they’re doing in life and if that were the case, some time would have to pass and it would be very different.”

Whatever the case, we'd love to see it.

Starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, La La Land is the movie that has us falling in love with musicals all over again.

Up for a record-tying 14 Oscars (only Titanic and All About Eve can match that figure), it also won every category it was nominated for at the Golden Globes last month.

Oh, and it’s made close-to ten times its budget back already.

A video posted by La La Land (@lalaland) on

Here at SHEmazing! we say – go see it asap!

And if you’re wondering what the, ahem, song and dance is all about… here are eight very good reasons to LOVE La La Land

A photo posted by La La Land (@lalaland) on

1) You will worship musicals again

Sure for the first five minutes, you wonder how it’s all going to pan out. After another ten minutes of La La Land, you really start to like what you see. And after 30 minutes – well, then you are just ALL OVER musical films forever more.

2) You will covet the weather

It’s Ireland; it’s February. It’s chilly and damp and a bit dreary. What better time to inject a spot of LA sunshine and light into our lives? It’s practically a health treatment…

3) You will fall in love

Maybe not with your date – but certainly with the loved-up duo that is Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Their chemistry = ah-maze-ing! This is their third film together (the others being Gangster Squad, and Crazy, Stupid, Love) and, yup, they’re once again pretty much perfect.

4) You will sing

Stick the soundtrack on Spotify in the aftermath and truthfully, you will listen and sing along to little else for weeks.

5) You will adore dance

Dancing With The Stars has its merits, sure. But what you experience in La La Land is approximately 1,000 times better than anything seen on a celebrity-infused reality TV show.

6) You will dream

La La Land is all about making dreams come true. And every one of us – deep down – is a bit of a dreamer, right? This is a movie that offers beautiful escapism, making you feel all warm and fuzzy and happy inside at the same time.

7) You will be utterly devoted to Emma Stone

Put simply, she remains one of the most talented, smart and funny actresses we have ever seen. She is Hollywood royalty for all the right reasons.

8) You will quiver when you see Ryan Gosling

Do we need to elaborate? The guy is not only the sexiest man alive, but he also can dance, sing, AND play the piano. That is all the #boyfriendgoals right there.

By the end of this week, we will have successfully ploughed through the upcoming episodes of Gilmore Girls and will almost certainly be back hunting for our next Netflix feast.

With this grim prediction in mind, we were delighted to come across the first trailer for the site’s Barack Obama biopic, Barry, which is due for release in mid-December.

Set in the Autumn of 1981, Barry tracks Obama’s junior year at Columbia University as the future 44th President of the United States grapples with many of the same social challenges he went on to face in office.

With the trailer suggesting Obama’s diverse ethnic background “makes him American”, Barry appears to offer a refreshing contrast of opinion to those expressed by the new President-elect on his journey to the White House.

Barry premieres on Netflix December 16.

With Harry Potter makeup brushes casting a spell over social media, it seems there is huge demand for movie themed cosmetics.

And now the incredible people at Storybook Cosmetics – aka the geniuses who brought the Patronus palette to life – have set their sights on one of our all-time favourite flicks.

Last week, the brand used Instagram to showcase its ideas for a Mean Girls makeup palette and, so far, the Internet reacted with a squeal, speed tagging and pretty much every Regina George quote you can think of.

On Wednesdays, we wear  Mean Girls Makeup.  (Tentative idea, all depends on licensing )

A photo posted by Mandy, Missy & Erin (@storybookcosmetics) on

Dressed in Burn Book packaging, the palette would feature cleverly named eyeshadow shades including ‘Wednesday’, ‘Army Pants’, ‘So Fetch’, ‘Mouse…Duh’, ‘You Can’t Sit With Us’, ‘ESPN or Something’, ‘Glen Coco’ and ‘Flip Flops’.

According to Refinery29 the project is still its infancy, but since Storybook Cosmetics are seeking licencing permission to create the Burn Book palette, we’re hopeful that this dream will soon become a reality.
