Kelly Somers is set to become a mum!

Congratulations are in order for Kelly and her fiancé Max as they have announced they are expecting their first child together.

The BBC sports reporter admitted she ‘never thought she’d get to be a mum’ following multiple fertility issues.

Now, while speaking to OK!, Kelly has spoken about her journey to motherhood.

She explained, “I never, ever thought I would get to be a mum. I’ve grown up thinking it wouldn’t be possible. I’ve had so many problems, so I just feel incredibly fortunate”.

“At my age, everyone knows someone who’s going through fertility problems or who has a bad story, and I always thought I was going to be one of those stories”.

The 32-year-old then shared her story of being on the Pill since being a teenager and how she feels about it now.

“I have a very different opinion of the Pill now, but back then it was a case of not being aware of essentially pumping hormones into your body”.

“Since then, I’ve never had regular cycles and would go three or four months without periods. When I did, I would be lying on the floor the whole day in agony, but doctors would say, ‘It’s just normal’. I knew it wasn’t”.

The presenter was later diagnosed with endometriosis, and in 2019, a private doctor told her she had polycystic ovaries.

“It was the biggest relief ever because it fitted and explained everything. But then also, I knew you can’t cure it and it was going to be really hard to conceive. So at the beginning of this year, Max and I were thinking, ‘OK, it’s going to take years to have a baby. Let’s see what happens’”.

It was during a routine scan of her cycle that doctors believed Kelly may be pregnant.

“They told me to try a test in eight days’ time as they’d noticed there was a thickening of the uterus, which could have been a very early sign of pregnancy. I was cynical, but I tested on day six and day seven and wasn’t. Then on day eight I was like, ‘Wow – and you’ve got the day right as well!’”.

When it came to telling Max the good news, he didn’t believe Kelly at first, insisting she take more tests to check.

“He was sitting at the table working from home. I was in the bathroom, did the pregnancy test and walked out, then realised he was in a meeting and thought, ‘Well I can’t say it now!’”.

“I’m the one who gets excited about stuff and he’s the one who brings it back down, so when I did tell him he was saying, ‘Hmmm… I don’t think it’s positive’”.

“So I tried another brand of test and I said, ‘I think I might be!’ and again he was like ‘No’… so we booked a scan. It wasn’t like some big reveal. It was more a case of, ‘Oh my gosh, we didn’t expect this!’”.

Reflecting on her pregnancy, Somers revealed, “Compared to other people’s journeys, I’ve had the luckiest, happiest ending. It’s a journey I didn’t think I’d get to take and I am so, so grateful”.

Made in Chelsea fans have reacted to the wonderful news that Ollie Locke and his husband Gareth have announced the birth of their twins.

Ollie and Gareth revealed their twins, a boy and a girl, were born seven weeks early via surrogate.

The dads explained they are ‘so excited’ to share the news of their babies arrivals, and announced their children’s names are Apollo Magnus Obi and Cosima Emily Bex.

While speaking to HELLO!, the Made in Chelsea stars opened up about the meaning behind the names.

Explaining that Apollo was born weighing 3lb 10oz and Cosima was 2lb 11oz, Gareth admitted, “I always wanted to have a son and call him Apollo”.

“My dad’s nickname for my mum [Margaret] is Maggie, so Magnus is the male version”.

Cosima’s name means ‘chaos and beauty’, and according to Ollie, “She's already living up to that”.

The tot’s middle names are tributes to Ollie’s late friend Emily Hartridge, who sadly passed away in 2019, and the couple’s surrogate, Bex, who gave birth to the twin on July 8.

Even though Apollo and Cosima arrived at 31 weeks, Locke said they’re ‘really strong’ and doing ‘amazingly’.

“Our little monkeys decided to be really strong. They wanted to come out early because they felt they were ready, and they were absolutely amazing. They needed a bit of help, but not as much as a lot of premature babies”.

Sharing their excitement on Instagram, Ollie and Gareth posted a cute clip of them bringing the twins home for the first time.

Ollie penned, “We are so excited to announce that our beautiful twins are finally here and they are more precious than we could have ever imagined”.

As women, our bodies are complex ecosystems that communicate with us through various signals, including discomfort or pain. While many aches are benign and can be attributed to everyday factors, it’s essential to differentiate between ordinary discomfort and potential signs of more serious underlying conditions. In this comprehensive guide, we will take a deep dive into several types of pain that women may experience, encompassing stomach, reproductive organ, and urinary tract pains. We will explore the potential underlying conditions, accompanying symptoms, suggested at-home remedies, the consequences of dismissing pain, and most importantly, when seeking professional medical help becomes imperative.

1. Stomach Pains:

Conditions to Consider:

  • Gastritis: An inflammation of the stomach lining that leads to abdominal discomfort, indigestion, and a sense of fullness.
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): A common gastrointestinal disorder characterized by abdominal pain, bloating, and fluctuations in bowel habits.
  • Peptic Ulcers: Open sores that develop on the stomach’s lining, small intestine, or even the esophagus, causing abdominal discomfort.

Accompanying Symptoms:

Be vigilant for signs such as nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, and a diminished appetite. If you experience these symptoms along with stomach pains, chances are you need to seek treatment from a medical professional.

Consequences of Ignoring the Pain:

While ignoring subtle signs like stomach pains may be common practice, it can do more harm than good. Neglecting persistent stomach pain could potentially lead to complications like bleeding ulcers, escalating inflammation, and severe malnutrition. The longer an underlying condition remains untreated, the more challenging it becomes to manage and resolve.

At-Home Remedies:

  • Dietary Adjustments: Steering clear of spicy and acidic foods can help alleviate stomach discomfort. You should also try incorporating foods like bananas, rice, toast, crackers, ginger, peppermint, apples, and coconut water into your diet to help soothe stomach issues.
  • Hydration: Ensuring adequate water intake can assist in soothing digestive problems.
  • Stress Management: Engaging in relaxation techniques such as yoga, deep breathing exercises, and meditation can aid in managing stress-induced stomach issues.

When to Seek Professional Help:

While it would be nice if your stomach problems would resolve with the home remedies listed above, that’s not always the case. You should immediately seek medical attention if:

  • The pain is severe, persistent, or escalating over time.
  • If you notice the presence of blood in vomit or stool, immediate medical consultation is crucial.
  • Unexplained weight loss coupled with stomach pain

2. Reproductive Organ Pains:

Conditions to Consider:

  • Endometriosis: A chronic condition marked by tissue resembling the uterine lining growing outside the uterus, leading to pain, infertility, and discomfort.
  • Ovarian Cysts: Fluid-filled sacs on the ovaries that can cause pelvic pain, bloating, and pressure.
  • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): Often triggered by sexually transmitted infections (STIs), PID is an infection affecting the reproductive organs, causing pelvic pain and discomfort.

Accompanying Symptoms:

Although pain and discomfort in your abdominal and reproductive region is common for women (especially around their periods), there are signs that will let you know that something more serious is happening. Pay attention to indicators such as abnormal bleeding, pain during intercourse, irregular periods, pain during urination, and fever.

Consequences of Ignoring the Pain:

Believe it or not, periods are not supposed to be long, draining, or painful. Therefore, if you notice signs of persistent pain, it is imperative that you address the matter. Neglecting persistent pelvic pain can lead to worsening endometriosis, which could potentially result in fertility issues. Untreated infections may spread, leading to more severe complications like infertility and chronic pain.

At-Home Remedies:

  • Heat Therapy: Applying a warm heating pad to the lower abdomen can help alleviate pelvic discomfort.
  • Gentle Exercise: Incorporating low-impact exercises like yoga and gentle stretches can enhance blood circulation and ease tension.
  • Hygiene Practices: Ensuring proper hygiene is vital to prevent infections that may lead to pelvic pain.
  • Dietary Changes: Inflammation can often lead to exacerbated pain. You can combat this by changing your diet to include more anti-inflammatory foods such as green leafy vegetables, fatty fish, and spices like turmeric and ginger.

When to Seek Professional Help:

  • Seek immediate medical attention if the pain is severe, sudden, or consistently persistent.
  • If the pain interferes with your daily activities, sleep, or overall well-being, consulting a healthcare provider is paramount.
  • Any sudden alteration in your menstrual cycle pattern accompanied by pain warrants thorough medical evaluation.

3. Pain During Urination:

Conditions to Consider:

  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Infections arise when bacteria infiltrate the urinary tract, leading to pain, burning sensations during urination, and increased frequency of urination.

Accompanying Symptoms:

Stay vigilant for signs such as a strong urge to urinate, cloudy or bloody urine, pain or pressure in the lower abdomen, and a sensation of incomplete emptying of the bladder.

Consequences of Ignoring the Pain:

Leaving a UTI untreated can escalate to more severe kidney infections, which can manifest with high fever, back pain, and potentially lasting kidney damage.

At-Home Remedies:

  • Hydration: Ensuring ample water intake helps flush out bacteria from the urinary tract.
  • Cranberry Juice: Some studies suggest that cranberry juice might help prevent UTIs.
  • Urinary Pain Relief: Over-the-counter urinary pain relievers can aid in managing discomfort until a medical consultation can be arranged.

When to Seek Professional Help:

If you experience symptoms of a UTI, prompt medical attention is advised to prevent further complications. You can receive UTI treatment at home by scheduling an online appointment with a healthcare professional. They will listen to your symptoms, make a proper diagnosis, and even prescribe antibiotics to help combat the infection before it gets worse.

4. Other Pains to Watch Out For:

Conditions to Consider:

  • Heart Issues: Chest pain, shortness of breath, and radiating discomfort to the arms, neck, or jaw might signal heart problems.
  • Kidney Infections: Intense back or side pain combined with fever may be indicative of a kidney infection.
  • Appendicitis: Sudden and severe pain in the lower right abdomen might point to appendicitis, necessitating immediate medical attention.

Accompanying Symptoms:

The accompanying symptoms differ depending on the condition; it’s crucial to stay attuned to changes in your body.

Consequences of Ignoring the Pain:

Neglecting potential heart issues, kidney infections, or appendicitis could result in life-threatening situations. Heart problems might lead to heart attacks, untreated kidney infections can lead to kidney damage, and untreated appendicitis can result in a burst appendix, causing a serious infection.

At-Home Remedies:

  • Heartburn Relief: For mild heartburn, over-the-counter antacids might provide relief.
  • Hydration: Maintaining sufficient fluid intake is vital for kidney health and function.
  • Rest: In the case of suspected appendicitis, refraining from consuming food or drink and seeking immediate medical assistance is crucial.

When to Seek Professional Help:

  • Heart issues demand urgent medical care; do not hesitate to seek immediate attention.
  • If you experience kidney pain accompanied by fever or changes in urinary habits, consulting a healthcare professional is crucial.
  • If appendicitis is suspected, seeking medical assistance promptly is essential to prevent potential complications.

The intricate nature of the female body means that it occasionally communicates with us through discomfort and pain. By understanding these signals, we can take a proactive approach to our health. Remember, while many pains are fleeting, persistent or intense discomfort should never be ignored. Always prioritise your well-being and consult a healthcare professional when in doubt.

Marks & Spencer has defended Vogue Williams after she received cruel body shaming comments.

Earlier this week, the retailer shared a post to social media, which was recently filmed by Vogue herself.

In the video clip, the 37-year-old model showed off some of M&S’s swimwear pieces while on holiday, including a black swimsuit and a blue bikini.

Vogue’s video also featured her three children – Theodore (4), Gigi (3), and one-year-old Otto – with Gigi choosing to don an adorable yellow swimsuit for the occasion.

After Marks & Spencer uploaded the video, their Instagram comments section began to be flooded by critical comments, with many viewers choosing to accuse the mum-of-three of being ‘too thin’.

After receiving an onslaught of comments, M&S has since taken to their own comments section to defend Vogue.

“A kind reminder to our followers that we use our platform in a positive way. We’re proud to represent and celebrate people of all shapes and sizes,” M&S detailed in their statement.

“We won’t tolerate any unkind or negative comments and anything unacceptable will be deleted. Let’s all continue to uplift one another. Love M&S x,” the retailer’s social media team added.

Many have since gone on to support M&S’s defence, praising Vogue for her content.

“Why are women being attacked for being fit and healthy now?! Body positivity is for everyone and NOONE should be criticized whether you’re a size 6 or 16,” one follower exclaimed.

“She looks great. Women come in shapes and sizes and all women are ‘real’ and ‘normal’ no matter their size,” another noted.

The trolling comments came after Vogue recently expressed her opinion on the rumour mill. The presenter, who is married to Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews, opened up on her My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast about the entertainment industry.

"Rumours, just take them with a pinch of salt because that’s usually what they are: Bullsh*t. They usually come from nothing. If someone usually doesn’t say something about a rumour… It’s bullsh*t,” she stated.

Will Young has opened up about his rumoured ‘feud’ with two of his Love Island co-stars.

The English farmer narrowly missed out on a place in the final of this year’s winter series, alongside his girlfriend Jessie Wynter.

Since leaving the villa, fans have speculated that Will is no longer friends with two of his castmates, Casey O’Gorman and Tom Clare. The three lads formed a ‘bromance’ during their time on the ITV dating show, with their co-stars even nicknaming them ‘The Three Musketeers’.

However, in the months following the series, Will has spent his time travelling the world with Jessie, while Tom and Casey have chosen to move in together and go on several trips together. Earlier this week, fans then discovered that Will had unfollowed Tom and Casey on Instagram.

Now, in an interview with Heat, Will has explained the reason behind the friendship breakdown.

Speaking at the PrettyLittleThing x Indiyah Polack launch party last night, the 23-year-old went into detail.

"So they [Tom, Casey, Ron Hall and Kai Fagan] went out for dinner. I was invited but I couldn't go – I live out of the city, I'm working on the farm and focusing on my girlfriend. They had their dinner and from what I saw on their Stories had a couple of drinks, had a good time and then later that night Ron removed me from the group chat,” Will revealed.

"I was really confused but I sat back and thought, you've got four people sat at a table, a conversation about me would have happened, I don't know what it is, so although Ron removed me, I think it was a whole group situation,” he continued.

Will then went on to explain how this factored into his decision to unfollow.

"Not one of them have messaged me or added me back into the group chat. So I thought, do you know what? I don't want the stress in my life, so I unfollowed them. That's basically what happened,” he concluded, adding that he’d “rather chill out with Jessie and live on the farm.”

Nurse Lucy Letby has been found guilty of killing seven babies while working in a hospital’s neonatal unit.

Lucy was working at the Countess of Chester Hospital when the murders occurred between June 2015 and June 2016.

During the trial today, which took place at Manchester Crown Court, the 33-year-old was found guilty of murdering seven babies as well as the attempted murder of six other infants.

The 11-person jury was unable to reach a verdict on four other counts of attempted murder.

The victims of the nurse, who was in her 20’s when she carried out the horrific crimes, were both baby boys and girls, many of whom were born prematurely.

She used multiple methods to kill the infants including injecting air into their bloodstream, injecting insulin into them and giving them excess milk.

Credit: Cheshire Constabulary

Lucy was removed from the neonatal unit in 2016 after many consultants were concerned with the drastic increase in suspicious deaths during the previous year.

She was later arrested at her home in 2018 and she was charged in November 2020.

Earlier today, a lawyer at the Crown Prosecution Service, Pascale Jones released a statement that reads, “Lucy Letby was entrusted to protect some of the most vulnerable babies. Little did those working alongside her know that there was a murderer in their midst”.

“She did her utmost to conceal her crimes, by varying the ways in which she repeatedly harmed babies in her care. She sought to deceive her colleagues and pass off the harm she caused as nothing more than a worsening of each baby’s existing vulnerability”.

Jones continued, “In her hands, innocuous substances like air, milk, fluids – or medication like insulin – would become lethal. She perverted her learning and weaponised her craft to inflict harm, grief and death”.

Letby has been named the UK’s most prolific child serial killers in modern times. She will be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on Monday.

Bonnie and Andrew tied the knot with an intimate wedding ceremony on a farm in California back in March 2022.

When announcing her pregnancy with the world earlier this year, Bonnie posted a lovely snap of her cradling her baby bump with Andrew by her side.

She revealed, “We’re having a baby! So excited to share this beautiful land with them. What a wild and humbling journey pregnancy is, transforming to make space for new life”.

“Andrew and I can’t wait to meet our baby later this year and become parents. It feels like they’re coming to say hello in the little rainbow orb across my belly”.
