One downfall about the lure of the bright lights of stardom is the intense pressure to appear perfect in front of the camera, a pressure which has led many celebs to go under the knife to tweak their least favourite feature.

Katy Perry has been plagued by plastic surgery rumours since she burst onto the music scene one decade ago with I Kissed A Girl, and the star has opened up about the work she has had done.

In an interview with Refinery 29, the singer said that while she has had filler work done on her face, she has not had any other augmentations.

'I've done lasers and got injections under my eyes for the hollowing—which I'd recommend for everyone who wants a solution for their dark circles—but all of my assets are real,' she revealed to the online mag.

'People tend to think they are fake, but it doesn't really matter,' she said, referring to her chest.

In fact, while many would shun the notion of plastic surgery, Perry is open to the concept, as long as the reasons for going under the knife are right.

'We're getting away from that negative stigma about physical alterations,' she explained.

'Of course, always be your authentic self—but if someone wants a nose job that makes them feel better, and they love their profile more because of it, it's like, go ahead.'

'Do whatever makes you feel better about yourself. Stay in therapy, but get it, girl.'

In case you have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, an explosively revelatory book entitled Fire and Fury was released, the content of which is all about the presidential campaign and first presidential year of a certain POTUS.

The book, penned by Michael Wolff, was labelled as being 'a phony book' which is 'full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist' by Donald Trump, after the book presented him in a less than flattering light.

Now, it seems that the book is headed for Trump's favourite place – TV.

According to Variety, Endeavor Content has purchased the film and television rights to the book.

The book, a best-seller, is set to be adapted by the company into a television series.

No studio or network are currently attached to the project yet.

The author himself is set to be the executive producer of the show series.

Trump has vehemently denied the authenticity of the book's content.

In a statement this month, the POTUS said: 'We are going to take a strong look at our country’s libel laws so that when somebody says something that is false and defamatory about a person, that person will have meaningful recourse in our courts.'

Last year, actor Matt Damon came under fire for a series of comments he made regarding the Hollywood sexual harassment scandal.

He previously told ABC news in an interview: 'I do believe that there's a spectrum of behaviour and we're going to have to figure, you know, there's a difference between patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation.'

'Both of those behaviours need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn't be conflated.'

He later said that there are men who will be tarred with the same brush as sexual predators, which isn't being discussed.

'We're in this watershed moment, and it's great, but I think one thing that's not being talked about is there are a whole s***load of guys – the preponderance of men I've worked with – who don't do this kind of thing and whose lives aren't going to be affected,' he told Business Insider.

Damon received major backlash for his words, and has now apologised for them.

Speaking to Today, the star said that he wished he had educated himself further on the issue before commenting.

'I really wish I'd listened a lot more before I weighed in on this,' he said.

'I think ultimately what it is for me is I don't want to further anybody's pain with anything I do or say, so for that, I'm really sorry.'

He also voiced his support for the Time's Up movement.

'A lot of those women are my dear friends and I love them and respect them and support what they're doing and want to be a part of that change,' he said. "

'But I should get in the back seat and close my mouth for a while,' he finished.

Health Minster Simon Harris opened this evening's “historic” debate on the Eight Amendment by revealing figures showing the amount of women who have travelled for abortions since 1980.

“This is happening in Ireland today. That's a fact. How can we ignore it? How can we consider it alright?” he asked the Dáil.

During his opening statement, the Fine Gael TD said it was important to recognise the “sad reality that we have been exporting this issue,” before bringing attention to new figures which showed that 3,265 women travelled to the UK from Ireland for an abortion in 2016.

A county-by-county breakdown revealed that 1,175 of the women travelled from Dublin, with others mainly coming from Cork (241), Kildare (130) and Galway (113).

“These are not faceless women. They are our friends and neighbours, sisters, cousins, mothers, aunts, wives,” the Health Minister said.

“Each woman is dealing with her own personal situation and making what is a deeply difficult decision.”

The figures also showed that over 1,500 women were aged between 20 and 29, while 255 were over 40.

10 girls under the age of 16 were shown to have travelled for an abortion in 2016.

Meanwhile, over 50 per cent of the women said they were either married or in a relationship.

“I can’t help but wonder what we would have done if we didn’t have a neighbouring island to help us turn a blind eye. And sometimes turning a blind eye is the same as turning your back.”

The Government have agreed to draft a Bill that would allow a referendum on the Eighth Amendment to take place, though the wording of the bill has not yet been finalised.

Discussions are expected to continue into tomorrow.

Let's face it, periods are pretty awful at any time of the year – but why, oh why do they seem to get so much worse in the winter time?

It's not enough that we're one missed bus away from developing frost bite – oh no, we've now got to deal with a whole new level of cramping and bloating as well.

Fab.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Dr Preethi Daniel, Clinical Director from London Doctors Clinic explained the science behind the annual phenomenon.

“As the days are shorter and darker, your mood can be adversely affected and add to that the monthly roller-coaster of hormones that arrive with your period and it can all seem even bleaker,” she said.

Our tendency to stay indoors and eat everything in sight isn't exactly helping thing either.

“Sunshine helps us make vitamin D and dopamine, both of which boost mood, pleasure, motivation and concentration,” she continued.

“Furthermore, winter means we spend more time indoors and we move less and eat more. This can have a bad effect on premenstrual symptoms as it has been found that women who are more active had much more regular and manageable cycles than those that hardly worked out.”

And that's not even the half of it.

Research has shown that women tend to have shorter menstrual cycle's in the winter, meaning you'll get, you guessed it – more periods.

Wahey!

While slight seasonal changes are normal, Dr Preethi did point out that persistent changes should be examined by a doctor.

“If symptoms of low mood are so bad you cannot motivate yourself to go to work or enjoy the things you usually do, you should consider whether this is seasonal affective disorder or depression,” she explains.

“It is worth speaking to your GP about this. Certainly, if you are not getting any periods at all during the winter months, again this can be abnormal and needs looking into. Heavier periods can cause low iron and anaemia and this should also be investigated by your GP.”

Roll on summer!

Saoirse Ronan is among the actresses who have pledged to donate their all-black gowns worn at this year's Golden Globes ceremony to a charity auction in aid of Time's Up.

The campaign, which was established by some of Hollywood's most influential female stars to help those that have suffered sexual abuse or harassment in the workplace, has teamed up with Condé Nast and eBay for the fundraising initiative.

Dresses worn by Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Emma Watson, as well as tuxedos worn by Hugh Jackman, Jude Law and Neil Patrick Harris are all expected to go under the hammer.

The auction follows the Golden Globes red carpet 'blackout' – a movement which saw stars sport all-black ensembles in a show of solidarity with the Time's Up campaign and the victims of the recent sexual harassment allegations.

Speaking about the auction, Anna Wintour, artistic director of Condé Nast and editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine said: "At Condé Nast, we've always believed in the importance of swift action to support meaningful social change."

"Through this auction powered by eBay, and harnessing the compelling pull of both fashion and activism, we're hopeful that the black dresses worn at this year's historic Golden Globe Awards will raise funds for the Time's Up initiative, and serve to support the stories and voices of those who have been victims of sexual misconduct."

The White Moose Cafe has taken to Twitter to announce that they are banning bloggers from their premises.

The cafe, which has a huge social media following in it's own right, are facing backlash after exposing an influencer for requesting a free stay in The Charleville Lodge Hotel exchange for coverage on her social media streams.

The cafe posted a screenshot of a blogger's email to them, detailing what she could offer in exchange for free accommodation.

The influencer, who was not named by the hospitality business, is speculated to be Elle Darby, after the fitness blogger made a video addressing the post.

Following her video, in which the 22-year-old brands the owner of The White Moose Cafe and The Charleville Lodge Hotel a 'sad pathetic little man,' social media exploded into discussion about the incident.

In response, the cafe posted a satirical apology to bloggers, saying that they are 'a much more lucrative group of people to piss off than the vegans and the gluten intolerant combined.'

Following this, the cafe chose to state that they will be banning all social media influencers from their premises.

While this may just be another addition to the war of words, the cafe claim that bloggers will be 'ejected' if they cross the threshold.

This follows a slew of negative, one-star reviews awarded to the White Moose Cafe's Facebook page following the publication of the video.

The cafe now has 8,800 one-star reviews, and 28,000 five-star reviews.

Taking to Twitter, their statement reads: 'Following the backlash received after asking an unidentified blogger to pay for a hotel room, I have taken the decision to ban all bloggers from our hotel and cafe.'

'The sense of entitlement is just too strong in the blogging community and the nastiness, hissy fits and general hate displayed after one of your member was not granted her request for a freebie is giving your whole industry a bad name. '

'I never thought I would be inundated with negative reviews for the simple reason that somebody was required to pay for good received or services rendered.'

'The girl in question was never identified in my original post, but she herself to create a video exposing how she was "exposed" with "malicious intent" for asking for a freebie.

'This kind of victimisation is very prevalent in the blogging industry and is in keeping with their general modus operandi of wanting everything for nothing.'

'If any of you attempt to enter our premises from now on, you will be ejected.'

We doubt there will be many bloggers, vegans, gluten free or elderly people requesting a free stay from them after this…

Bargain hunters, rejoice!

A brand new discount fashion retailer is about to shake up the Irish market – and we can not wait to see what they have in store.

Dealz has announced the launch of 30 PEP&CO 'shop-in-shop' fashion outlets in its stores, creating over 120 jobs nationwide.

An additional 20 outlets are expected to open in various locations, including Killarney, Galway, Letterkenny and Cork, before summer.

Prices at PEP&CO start at €1.50 with almost 60 per cent of items at €5.00 or less, with the company to keep quality high and prices low as it builds a business of real scale and volume.

The news comes as part of a wider announcement made by parent company Poundland, as they unveiled plans to open over 150 PEP&CO ‘shop-in-shop’ fashion outlets over the next 12 months in Ireland, the UK and France.

Speaking of its arrival Poundland's (Dealz's parent company) UK & Ireland Managing Director Barry Williams said: “Who would have thought 12 months ago that we would make Poundland a must-stop fashion destination. We now look forward to replicating this success in our Irish Dealz stores as we bring this incredible brand offering to Irish consumers."
