A 26-year-old homeless man is believed to have taken his own life while staying in emergency accommodation in Dublin 8 this week.

The Dublin Regional Homeless Executive (DRHE) confirmed the news yesterday evening, stating: “The DRHE is aware of the death of a person who was accessing homeless services. "

“The DRHE will not be commenting any further except to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

His death brings to four the number of homeless people who have passed away in just one week.

Two rough sleepers were found dead in Dublin and Cork, while another woman in her 20s took her own life in accommodation in Leixlip.

In light of the recent deaths, the Simon Communities are calling for a vacant home tax and a significant increase in spending on social housing.

It also wants Government departments and State agencies to work closely together in order to tackle the crisis.

Spokesperson, Niamh Randall, say the Government's strategy needs to be revisited:

"The whole Rebuilding Ireland strategy is under review and part of our concern would be that the strategy is predicated on the private sector to deliver a huge amount of social housing.

"Currently the problem isn't producing housing for the private market, so we think that there needs to be an urgent rethink of this."

According the The Irish Independent, some homeless campaigners are concerned that that all homeless deaths have been made public.

Amnesty International have welcomed the clarification as the Director of Public Prosecutions in the North has confirmed that medical staff in Northern Ireland who refer women for abortions in other parts of the UK will not face criminal prosecution.

The move has been hailed as a significant breakthrough by those who oppose the laws surrounding the procedure.

It's thought that the uncertainty around the topic left doctors feeling as though they were unable to refer their patients over fears of possible prosecution.

Grainne Teggart from Amnesty International in Northern Ireland, said: "The threat of prosecution has long loomed over medical professionals in Northern Ireland, who have previously felt unable to refer women to other parts of the UK for abortion services for fear of criminal prosecution. This has acted as a significant barrier for women seeking to access abortion."

"The Public Prosecution Service has now stated clearly they can see no risk of criminal prosecution in these circumstances. This is hugely important and should relieve the profession of this chilling threat. This is a significant breakthrough in the fight for abortion rights here."

Northern Ireland remains the only country in the United Kingdom where a ban on terminations remains in place.

As a result, hundreds of women of forced to travel every year in order to avail of the procedure.

The UK government recently committed to funding for women from Northern Ireland to access free abortions in England.

It seems that major congrats are in order for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who are reportedly expecting their third child.

A source close to the couple confirmed the news to People today.

The source claimed that the couple's surrogate is pregnant and expecting to deliver a new member of the Kardashian-West clan in 2018.

Baby number three is reportedly set to join four-year-old North and one-year-old Saint as early as January.

'The entire family is over the moon.'

'Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently, when she found the perfect candidate,' the source explained.

'Given her health scares in the past, Kim felt the need to hire a surrogacy agency that helped serve as the liaison in finding a healthy woman who would be a great surrogate option for her and Kanye.'

'Both of them have been super involved in the process.'

'They want everything to be perfect, and for the baby to be extremely healthy.'

'They don’t want any complications, and Kim is providing an ideal eating regimen and diet so everyone knows what the baby is consuming before it’s born.'

Congratulations to the pair and their growing family.

Okay, so it may be almost 20 years (stop, we know) since the first Harry Potter book was published, but we're still desperately clinging onto hope that our Hogwarts letter got lost in the post.

It's safe to say that the books bewitched the minds and ensnared the senses of millions of readers, and wizarding world rituals, like getting a Hogwarts acceptance letter, are dear to our hearts.

By the time the HP film series came out, translating years of our imaginary wizarding world into bold cinematic visuals, we were already hooked.

So imagine our delight when we heard that Harry's very own Hogwarts letter, as in the actual film prop, was going up for auction.

Image result for hogwarts letters

'The hero envelope features a real red-wax Hogwarts seal, unlike the many entirely printed versions that were also used in the scene,' reads the description.

'The envelope remains sealed with a letter seemingly contained within.'

'The envelope is in excellent condition; the wax seal has cracked and two small fragments are missing, but the Hogwarts crest is still clearly identifiable.'

The prop is expected to fetch between £3,000 – £5,000 at auction.

If you were more of a Weasley fan, then you're also in luck.

Other props from the films that will be up for auction include Ron Weasley's iconic Howler.

'Ronald Weasley! How dare you steal that car…' still gives us shivers.

In a move which was not appreciated by Cheryl Cole or her publicity team, model, Munroe Bergdof, has dragged the former Girls Aloud member into the controversy surrounding her recent dismissal by L'Oreal.

For those of you who aren't in the know, Munroe was dismissed by the brand after she argued that all white people were racist, and she's not prepared to back down now.

While appearing on the Victoria Derbyshire show, the model took aim at L'Oreal and questioned their decision to employ Cheryl Cole despite having been involved in a physical altercation with a black nightclub employee in 2003.

"I think if you’re going to put a woman who punched a black woman in the face and the face of diversity, that just says a lot about white privilege, which proves my point," Munroe said.

"I shouldn’t be sacked for calling out racism when I was in a campaign that was meant to be championing diversity,’ the 30-year-old model continued. ‘And especially when I was speaking about the violence of white people."

"But then they’ve got Cheryl Cole on the campaign and she was convicted for actively punching a black woman in the face," Munroe argued.

"I don’t understand how I’m not “in line with their values” but they will hire Cheryl Cole over and over again and give her more and more chances, but she was convicted for punching a black woman in the face."

Speaking to the Mail Online, a representative for the former Girls Aloud member was quick to dismiss Munroe's remarks.

"More than 14 years ago Cheryl was unanimously acquitted of a charge of racially aggravated assault."

"She is disappointed to find her name involved in Munroe Bergdorf’s media interview," they asserted.

At the time of Munroe's dismissal, L'Oreal asserted: "L’Oréal champions diversity. Comments by Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with our values and so we have decided to end our partnership with her."

This response was questioned by a number of Twitter users who, like Munroe, felt that the Geordie star was not in line with the brand's diversity dialogue.

American footballer Michael Bennett has come forward today to say that he was singled out because of his race while in Las Vegas last month.

The Seattle Seahawks star was in Vegas to attend the McGregor vs Mayweather boxing match when he heard what sounded like gunshots as he made his way back to is hotel after the fight.

'Like many people in the area, I ran away from the sound, looking for safety,' Bennett claimed today, in a public statement.

A post shared by Michael Bennett (@mosesbread72) on

'Police officers singled me out and pointed their guns at me for doing nothing more than simply being a black man in the wrong place at the wrong time,' he continued.

'A police officer ordered me to get on the ground. As I lay on the ground, complying with his demands not to move, he placed his gun near my head and warned me that if I moved he would "blow my f****** head off."'

He claims another officer then jammed his knee into his back, constricting Bennett's breathing and causing him pain.

He was then handcuffed so tightly that his fingers went numb from the restraints, reads the statement.

'The officers’ excessive use of force was unbearable,' he wrote.

'I felt helpless as I lay there on the ground handcuffed facing the real-life threat of being killed. All I could think of was “I’m going to die for no other reason than I am black and my skin colour is somehow a threat.’

'My life flashed before my eyes as I thought of my girls. Would I ever play with them again? Or watch them have kids? Or be able to kiss my wife again and tell her I love her.'

'Equality doesn’t live in this country and no matter how much money you make, what job title you have, or how much you give, when you are seen as a n*****, you will be treated that way,' he finished.

His open letter is currently going viral, and Mr Bennett is currently looking into the possibility of taking legal action over the incident.
