According to a survey conducted on behalf of the Irish Family Planning Association, one-third of adults in Ireland rely on the withdrawal method as their standard form of contraception.

The findings, which harnessed the lived experience of 1,001 men and women, show that the 'pull-out' method is most popular among adults aged 18-34 and least popular among those aged 55 and over.

The participants, 70 per cent of whom were in committed relationships, fielded questions regarding contraception, pregnancy and reproductive choices.

Interestingly, 38 per cent of respondents revealed that they do not use a method of contraception, 25 per cent opted for condoms and 20 percent of women surveyed rely on oral contraception.

According to The Irish Times, Dr Caitríona Henchion, medical director of the IFPA, voiced concern over the 10 per cent of couples surveyed who rely on the withdrawal method.

“If a pregnancy would be a crisis for a woman or couple, then it makes sense to use a contraceptive method they can rely on,” she said.

“This is really concerning and shows that there is a need for more education and knowledge so that women are empowered to make the choice of contraceptive that’s best for them,” she added.

Durex Ireland partnered with the Irish Family Planning Association in order to conduct the research which seeks to highlight the need for positive change in the nation's attitude to sexual health and contraception.

Normally tasked with creating the headlines, Irish journalist, Kevin Myers, found himself the subject of a number this weekend after the public took grave exception to a column he wrote on the gender pay gap.

The column, which was subsequently dubbed 'anti-Semitic' and 'misogynistic', led the editor of the Irish version of The Sunday Times, Frank Fitzgibbon, to issue a statement apologising for the piece.

"As the editor of the Ireland edition, I take full responsibility for this error of judgement," he said. "This newspaper abhors anti-Semitism and did not intend to cause offence to Jewish people."

It has since been announced that Kevin Myers will no longer be writing for The Sunday Times, and Twitter has wasted no time voicing their opinion on the argument put forth by the controversial columnist.

We'll let them take it from here.

If you were as captivated by Big Little Lies as we were, then you've obviously been holding out hope for the launch of a second season, right?

And if emerging reports are anything to go by, it looks like we may be set for an instalment of new stories from the breathtaking town of Monterey on America's west coast.

Speaking at the 2017 Summer TCA Press Tour, HBO's programming president, Casey Bloys, alluded to the fact the author of the original book, Liane Moriarty, is currently working on potential storylines.

According to ET Online, Casey said he's excited by the possibilities which lie ahead, saying: "Liane taking her crack at it and I think that it's interesting."

While acknowledging the slightly atypical approach they have to this particular TV show, Casey said he's invigorated by the change in direction.

"I don't think there's been a time when we've gone to the writer of the novel, the source material, to come up with like, ‘Do you see ongoing stories?'"he continued.

"I'll be very curious to see what she comes up with that. Normally you go to a TV writer, and say, ‘What do you see?'"

"We have to see the material and if it's worth everybody's time," Casey continued. "If it is, then the conversation of directors will happen."

It sounds more and more likely with every passing conversation.

Meet Daniella Courtney.

YouTuber, beauty blogger, Cambridge student and all round boss ass b*tch.

You would think a massive achievement like getting into Cambridge would spur her fellow peers to celebrate in her success, and congratulate her on the hard work that got her there – and for the most part, you'd be right.

But unfortunately, there's always one – or in this case, too many.

Sadly, Daniella has been forced to highlight the racist comments she has been subjected to, just for getting into the university of her dreams.

Taking to Twitter, a fed-up Daniella shared a thread of comments from people questioning her place at Cambridge.

We've got to hand it to Daniella for keeping a level head while addressing this issue.

The cool, calm and collected way in which she dealt with the negativity just goes to show that she absolutely deserves to be where she is today.

Nudes can be tricky business.

For the most part, intimate photographs are only meant to be seen by the person to which they were sent, and while this might seem like a given, there are still people out there who think it's okay to share these images in the hopes of destroying their ex-partners reputation.

Whether or not you choose to send such photographs is completely up to yourself, and no explanation as to why you won't should ever be needed – but in saying it, one Tinder user's genius reason still gave us a giggle.

Meet Emily.

A 23-year-old singleton whose hilarious Tinder bio has gathered over 2,000 like after it appeared on Twitter last Thursday.

Her bio reads: “On the topic of nude pics: I just want to remind everyone of a little movie called TITANIC.”

“A girl in 1912 has her naked body drawn in a sketchbook by a random dude that no one’s ever heard of, locks the drawing in a safe on a boat, the BOAT SINKS, and her nude pictures STILL ends up on television 84 years later. No one is safe.”

Needless to say, people were pretty impressed with Emily's analogy.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Emily admitted that the bio was inspired by a post she had seen a while ago, although she did say she added to it to make it more 'original'.

When asked whether she was really against sending nude photos, Emily said: “I’m all for loving your body and if you feel comfortable, you should flaunt it.”

“Nude pictures for sexual reasons never made sense to me, there’s not much you can do with a picture that you couldn't do with porn.”

However, while Emily stated that she would not personally feel comfortable sending nude photos, she insists that for those who do, it's all about trust.

“It’s really hard to judge who is a smart person to send a nude picture to,” she says.

“You never know who’s actually seeing it or if they are going to be sent around.”

“My advice would be honestly wait for the real thing, it’s safer as once you press that send button, there’s no taking it back.”

So, whether or not nudes are your thing, trust and respect are key when it comes to sharing anything in a relationship.

The Irish edition of The Sunday Times has been accused of antisemitism after it published an article suggesting that BBC presenters, Claudia Winkleman and Vanessa Feltz are well paid because they are Jewish.

The piece, written by Kevin Myers, was removed from the online version of the newspaper after it provoked huge backlash from upset readers.

However, the article still remains in the printed verison of the the newspaper across Ireland today.

The article on the row over the gender pay gap in the BBC, titled “Sorry ladies, equal pay has to be earned,” read:

“I note that two of the best-paid women presenters in the BBC – Claudia Winkleman and Vanessa Feltz, with whose, no doubt, sterling work I am tragically unacquainted – are Jewish. Good for them.

“Jews are not generally noted for their insistence on selling their talent for the lowest possible price, which is the most useful measure there is of inveterate, lost-with-all-hands stupidity. I wonder, who are their agents? If they’re the same ones that negotiated the pay for the women on the lower scales, then maybe the latter have found their true value in the marketplace.”

The outspoken columnist has also been accused of sexism after he argued that men work harder, get sick less frequently and do not get pregnant.

Frank Fitzgibbon, editor of The Sunday Times Ireland, said:

"As the editor of the Ireland edition, I take full responsibility for this error of judgement.

"This newspaper abhors anti-Semitism and did not intend to cause offence to Jewish people."

The Campaign Against Anti Semitism asked for confirmation that Kevin Myers will never again work for a News UK title, and that the apology will appear in the print edition.

Earlier this month, rumours that Mindy Kaling was expecting her first child began to circulate, however this was never confirmed by the actress or her publicist.

But, it now seems that the former queen of day time television, Oprah Winfrey, has taken it upon herself to reveal the big news.

Oprah told People that she learned of Mindy's pregnancy during a press event at Disney's D23 expo this month.

“My mouth dropped. ‘What did you just say?’ she said, ‘Oh, Oprah, I don’t think you know. I’m five months pregnant.’ And I said, ‘Whaaat?!’”

“That was it, and we just kept smiling,” she added.

The pair are set to star alongside each other in Ava DuVerny's upcoming film, A Wrinkle in Time, and it's been reported that The Mindy Project creator shared the news with the entire cast and crew.

Details of Mindy's current relationships status are unknown and it's thought the star plans to keep the identity of the father tightly under wraps.

The Mindy Project has been renewed for a sixth and final season and A Wrinkle in Time is set to premiere in March 2018.

Huge congratulations are in order!

Earlier this year, US comedian, Kathy Griffin, faced huge backlash after she shared a photo of her holding a fake severed and bloody head that bared an uncanny likeness to US President, Donald Trump.

The controversial photo cost the star her contract with CNN and led to a number of shows being cancelled.

A Secret Service investigation soon followed despite the fact that Kathy had made an apology video and asked photographer, Tyler Shields, to remove the pictures.

However, it now look as though the case has been dropped, with the 56-year-old tweeting to say she has been “completely exonerated”.

During a press conference last month, the comedian said she was the first entertainer “in history” to be hounded by a president, and claimed that Trump was using her as a “shiny object” to distract the public from the FBI investigation into Russian collusion.

Despite having put her career in jeopardy, Kathy has vowed to keep criticising the US president.

Bryan Cranston has sent Breaking Bad fans into a frenzy after he teased the possible return of his character, Walter White, in Better Call Saul.

The prequel spin-off recently saw the return of Gus Fring, played by Giancarlo Esposito and it seems almost inevitable that a pre-Heisenberg Walter White would make an appearance.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk while promoting his new movie, Wakefield, the actor admitted he would love to reprise the dynamic role.

“No I absolutely would. With Better Call Saul out there now I get the question a lot – would I come back on Better Call Saul?”

“Would I do it? And the answer is yes. And the reason I would do it is because I’d do anything that Vince Gilligan asked me to do. 'Wash my car?' You bet.”

“So there’s a possibility I could be on Better Call Saul as Walter White at some point. That would be fun. I don’t know when or if that’ll come to be.”

However, we shouldn't get our hopes up too high just yet – though we're keeping out fingers crossed.

When asked whether or not he had been involved in any talk to appear in the show, Bryan replied: “Not yet.”

What's more, the star also said he would love to return as Hal in a Malcolm In The Middle revival.

“But it’s the same thing with Hal on Malcolm In The Middle," he added. "I truly loved that experience and the people involved and there might be a possibility that something could develop along those lines too.”

Sounds promising right?

For now though, you can catch Bryan Cranston's latest film Wakefield, which will be available on digital platforms on July 28.
