Katy Perry has now been named the highest paid female musician in the world – as well as the third highest paid celebrity around. 

Katy earned a huge €120m in the past 12 months and, according to the July edition of Forbes magazine, she earns more than many other of our favourite musicians… cough, cough arch nemesis Taylor Swift.

Still, Tay-Tay grabbed second place among the gals, earning a not-too shabby €71m over the past year (though she was only in ninth place in the overall list). 

Thirty-year-old Katy took to Instagram to express her happiness at being named the top earning female performer. 

"Before accepting the offer to be on the cover of Forbes, I was told that a lot of women have previously shied away from doing it. I wondered if it was because they thought socially it would look like they were flaunting or bragging or it wasn't a humble decision."

The Teenage Dream singer went on to explain that there is a difference between being cocky and being proud of what you have achieved: "Ladies, there is a difference between being humble and working hard to see the fruits of your labor blossom, and your dreams realized."

Finally, the ex-wife of comedian Russell Brand went on to tell all women out there that it's OK to be happy with what you have achieved. 

"Hopefully this cover can be an inspiration to women out there that it's okay to be proud of hard earned success and that there is no shame in being a boss. Also… don't think that I didn't celebrate this moment by going straight to Taco Bell and getting my crunch wrap supreme"

In the women's category, Katy came in ahead of Ellen DeGenerous (3rd), Beyonce (4th), Lady Gaga (5th) and Kim Kardashian (6th).

Katy has her mega-selling Prismatic World Tour, which saw her travel to 24 countries and perform 127 concerts, to thank for her huge fortune.

It's no doubt been a tough day for singer Justin Bieber with the news that his friend, former NBA player Jackson Vroman, was killed yesterday,

Jackson died yesterday from injuries sustained in a car wreck, but no other details have been released to the media as yet. The sports star's former team, the Phoenix Suns, confirmed the news via Twitter, posting a picture of Jackson playing basketball with the message, "We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Jackson Vroman. Our thoughts are with his family during this time."

Justin and Jackson have been friends for years after meeting through mutual friends, and most recently were pictured together at last year's Cannes Film Festival.

In fact, just a couple of months ago Jackson posted a throwback picture of the pair at Cannes:

Although the Baby singer has yet to make any statement on social media since news of Jackson's death emerged last night, tributes have been pouring from other close friends. Among them is Reggie Bush, an American football player who famously dated Kim Kardashian for two years before she reportedly cheated on him with her now-husband Kanye West.

Reposting one of Jackson's old pictures on Instagram, Reggie wrote, "Love you bro I miss you already can't believe your gone I pray that God has mercy on your soul at the gates of Heaven and we meet again in the after life! I promise to continue our vision of Beach Volleyball Thursday's in your honor and I thank God for allowing me to spend time with you on your final days on earth!"

Such sad news, our thoughts are with Jackon's family and friends at this time.

Orlando Bloom was spotted having a PDA-packed dinner last night with Brazilian model/actress, Luisa Moraes.

The 38-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor has been linked to a number of women since his split from ex-wife Miranda Kerr in 2013, but he hasn’t actually been seen being intimate with anyone in the two year interim.

Mr Bloom was seen kissing the 28-year-old in a sushi restaurant in Malibu and according to reports, the pair couldn’t keep their eyes (or hands) off each other.

Ms Moraes is a model from Sao Paulo who has gotten into acting. So, if you’re thinking she looks familiar it may be because she has appeared in guest roles on the TV shows Chuck and Rules of Engagement.

Despite The Lord of the Rings star’s newest romance, he and his 32-year-old ex, Miranda, have remained totally amicable and still speak very highly of each other. They have both spoken about how important it is to retain a good relationship for the sake of their 4-year-old son, Flynn.

Speaking to E! News back in 2013, Orlando explained that “we’re a family and we’ll always love each other and we’re going to be in each other’s lives.”

While the Victoria's Secret angel was linked to James Packer after the split, she denied that they were anything more than friends. Either way Mr Packer, the Australian billionaire, is now dating Mariah Carey and the two of them are currently on holidays together.

Newlyweds Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan happily keep their legions of fans up-to-date on their daily activities via their various social media platforms.

But there's one person who evidently isn't so impressed with such openness. 

Speaking with OK! magazine, Mark's former fiancee Lauren Goodger detailed her rekindled love for Jake McLean, 26, and spoke of their plans for the future.

More telling, however, was a thinly-veiled criticism of the new Mr and Mrs Wright.

"I can't stand it when couples flood social media with pictures of themselves, that's not real to me," she declared, adding: "I don't need to post pictures of Jake to prove I love him or that our relationship is real."

And while she and Jake have only been dating for again for a month (they previously had a 14-month long relationship from October 2012), they say they can't wait to be parents.

"Starting a family is the most important thing to us," she the former Towie star said. 'Getting married isn't really a priority."

She added: "I still have a few things I want to achieve in my career but I want to be a young mum so we don't want to wait too long. I can't wait to be the mum of Jake's children."

The lovebirds recently enjoyed a sun-drenched mini-break in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, although rather awkwardly Mark and Michelle were also in the region at the same time – enjoying the final few days of their honeymoon. 

Indeed, the coincidence is said to have prompted Mr Wright's online rant, which was directed at Lauren. In it, he called her "embarrassing" and "hurtful" and claimed that she needed to mention him regularly in order to make money.

Ms Goodger strenuously denied the allegations a day later.

In the aftermath of Lauren and Jake's December 2013 split, they certainly weren't on good terms.

Just last September – on Lauren's 28th birthday – the property developer and convicted armed robber appeared to upload an intimate-looking snap of Lauren posing in a leotard.

He then captioned the image with a cruel dig: "Ahhhh happy birthday to the biggest let down I no @LaurenGoodger keep it up girl your doing great #tramp."

Ms Goodger also addressed in the OK! interview rumours that Jake may have released a sex tape featuring her.

Leaked in August last year, the businesswoman is convinced it had nothing to do with Mr McLean. 

"When the video was released, we weren't even speaking," she explained. "But never in a million years did I think it was down to him.

"I still don't know who's responsible."

It's good to see that the duo have firmly put their past behind them.

As cynical as we Irish can be about almost everything, we do have an overwhelmingly positive attitude when it comes to the weather.

For a country that is notoriously rainy, we really do never give up hope that one day the sun will come.

And at last… that day is here.

It may not be Leaving Cert week but it sure does feel like it. And with the rise in temperature we have no doubt that there is going to be a serious surge in ice cream sales too.

Is there anything better than basking in the sunlight with a Cornetto? If so we certainly don't know what it is.

And we definitely are not the only ones: HB has predicted that it will sell 200,000 ice creams every day during the current heatwave.  

That means that more than a quarter of million HB ice creams are likely to be sold EVERY DAY during the heatwave – that is A LOT of ice cream. 

So before you get your bikini on, run to the shop and make sure your freezer is fully stocked because it looks like our frozen friends could be a sell out. 

Now we just need to pray that it lasts till the weekend.

Rapper Big Sean may have only been dating Ariana Grande for a mere nine months before they cut ties back in April, but he says he learnt a lot from their time together.

Unlike Ariana, who took to Twitter earlier this month to rant about how she hated being objectified and referred to as "Sean's ex", the rapper himself has been reflecting quite positively about their short relationship.

"There are no mistakes in life… there's only lessons," he told Entertainment Tonight reporters at the BET Awards on Sunday night.

When it comes to moving on, Sean says he's happy to take things slowly. "Man, you know, I don't plan relationships," the 27-year-old explained. "They just happen. That's all it is. I'm just…I'm just living it…You know, we just out here doing what we doin'. Feelin' it out."

Ariana and Sean were first rumoured to be dating in August of last year, just a month after the rapper's ex-fiancée, Glee's Naya Rivera, wed another man on the date she and Sean had planned for their own wedding.

Given the messy end to that relationship, it's understandable that Sean and Ariana did not confirm they were actually dating until February of this year, two months before calling it off.

Unusually for a young celebrity couple, the pair made an official statement to the media after their split, with their reps stating that the former couple "both deeply care for each other and remain close friends."

While Big Sean has no set plans for his future relationships, 22-year-old Ariana seems to be going through a pretty steep learning curve at the moment.

Following her message on Twitter about hating being thought of as anyone's "possession," the Problem singer added, "I'm saying this after literally 8 years of feeling like I constantly had to have a boy by my side… After being on my own now for a few months I am realizing that that's just not the case… I have never felt more present, grounded, and satisfied. I've never laughed harder or had more fun or enjoyed my life more."

Though the millions of women who found themselves drooling over his perfect face in Fifty Shades might disagree, Jamie Dornan has previously spoken of his love of having a beard.

Indeed, he's said he believes it makes him more distinguished and less cutsie-looking.

But the actor struck a balance while out and about in London yesterday, sporting neither a full beard nor a clean-shaven look.

Instead, Jamie boasted a handlebar moustache – which unsurprisingly he managed to pull off to perfection. 

Although dressed down in a blue t-shirt and navy jeans, also on show were his toned biceps.

The 33-year-old Co. Down-native was accompanied by his English wife, Amelia Warner, also 33, and their 18-month-old daughter, Dulcie.

The facial hair is not by choice, however: he has grown the moustache for a role in the forthcoming Jadotville. 

Released next year, the feature film documents the story of Co. Kerry Commandant Pat Quinlan, who led a stand-off with French and Belgian troops in the Congo in the early 1960s. 

Playing the suited and booted Christian Grey in the big-screen adaptation of EL James's Fifty Shades Of Grey, Mr Dornan sent hearts aflutter when the film hit cinemas in February.

It eventually went on to gross half a billion euro at the box office.

Thankfully, Jamie has already signed up for the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, which is due for release on February 10, 2017.

It is believed that he has been offered a €1.35m bonus to do a full frontal nude scene in the movie – an offer which he is said to be considering carefully.

Chris Brown is no angel but it seems he has been working to turn his life around over the last year.

The singer took to Instagram yesterday to share a small progress update, posting a before-and-after shot showing the weight he has lost over the twelve months. Speaking at the BET Awards earlier this week, Chris said his weight was just one of many parts of his life that he was trying his best to change.

"Last year, I was fat on this stage, dancing, trying to get my stuff together," he told the crowds. "A lot has changed in my life, a lot of mistakes, a lot of lessons learned." Chris' Instagram post (which he deleted shortly after) was captioned simply with a series of laughing emojis. 

The singer was released from jail for the second time last June, having been sentenced to an additional 108 days for violating probation during the Rihanna domestic abuse case.

Six months later, in January of this year, Chris discovered he was father to a toddler daughter named Royalty, following a one-night stand with old friend Nia Guzman. While he still has a long way to go to atone for his past sins, the singer does appear to be making a real effort to focus on positive growth, telling the audience at the BETs that meeting Royalty had changed his life.

"The best thing, I’m most thankful for is my daughter. At the end of the day, love is love. I love everybody," he said during his performance. And given that Rihanna herself stopped by during Chris' rehearsal to watch him perform and give him some words of encouragement, it seems he really has been trying to make amends for his mistakes.

Today marks Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's 32nd birthday, and her husband certainly decided to celebrate it in style. 

Yesterday we reported that the singer's French beau, Jean-Bernard, had begun the celebrations by giving Cheryl a few hints about what she could expect for her big day:

After keeping us waiting for two whole days, Cheryl finally let us in on Jean-Bernard's big birthday surprise. It the X Factor judge told her hubby she fancied some Italian food for her 32nd… and he really went above and beyond to deliver. 

Cheryl posted on her official Facebook and Instagram pages today to update fans on how things had gone. "When you're asked what you would like to have for your birthday dinner and you say lets go to a nice Italian restaurant!… Then you actually end up IN Italy!" she wrote, adding, "I need to step up my game!"

 Wow, we can't wait to see what they get up to in Italy!

Following the success of her newest book, Grey, author E.L. James held a Twitter Q&A last night, but things didn't exactly turn out as hoped. 

Twitter users took the free-for-all Q&A as an opportunity to express all of their feelings about the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise… and we mean ALL of them. The hashtag #AskELJames saw hundreds of people questioning her skills as a writer and her understanding of domestic abuse.

Many people even chimed in purely to point out what an absolutely terrible idea it was by her PR team to set up the Q&A in the first place. Not all of the tweets were full of aggro though – there were a few funny ones which were too good not to share…

In the last week alone, Taylor Swift has taken on music giant Apple (and won), performed five arena shows, hung out with Emma Watson and Serena Williams… and of course made a visit to our little island.

The singer hit the stage at Dublin's 3Arena last night for the first of two sell-out shows, and if she was tired after a VERY busy week, she certainly didn't let it show. Gone were the slow, softly-sung country songs that made Taylor a hit back in the day, and in their place were high-octane hits like Bad Blood, Shake It Off and Out Of The Woods, all performed with maximum energy to 16,000 screaming fans.

SHEmazing! were there to see Tay-Tay giving it socks, and if you're heading along tonight, here's a taster of our favourite bits…

Iggy Azalea had a lot to say yesterday when Pretty Girls, her new single with Britney Spears, completely flopped, reaching a limp number 23 in the US charts and not even making it to the Top 50 in Ireland.

As this much anticipated duet didn't do as well as they had hoped, Iggy tried to shift the blame to Britney by tweeting "It's difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately I'm just featured."

Even more cutting, she then concluded with: "I dont have to suck the womans a**hole 24/7 to be her friend, do i?" 

These tweets received a lot of backlash from Britney fans and they were later deleted, but not before the Oops.. I Did It Again singer saw them and replied with a few cutting words of her own.

Britney retaliated with an extremely subtle dig at Azalea saying "can't wait to get back to Vegas. So thankful I have shows for the rest of the year to look forward to… #YouWantAPieceOfMe"

Meow! Fans jumped to the conclusion straight away that this was aimed at Iggy who recently cancelled her entire tour for the rest of the year without much explanation.
