It’s not just Hogwart’s that gives you a pang of jealousy when you remember your own secondary school, but many others too! Though mostly Hogwart’s…

Here are some other fictional schools we would love to have gone to!

1. St. Trinian’s

tumblr_m4t7ih9U9N1rq645g

This is the ultimate school for bad girls; whether you watched one of the original five, the two reboots or read the original books, you’d know that this isn’t the usual English boarding school. The girls smoked, drank and gambled, while the principal bitched at them. Yeah, sounds about right!

2. Sunnydale High School

buffy_glory

Sure, the place was rife with vampires and other demonic hellspawn, but Buffy was there and you could watch her kick ass like nobody’s business. You could go to school with Willow and Xander, and maybe just join their clique. Plus, Giles was just the best mentor ever.

3. Bayside High School

Saved By The Bell was a staple of nineties’ teen comedies, and why did you want to go there? Depending on your sexual preference, it was Zach Morris or Kelly Kapowski. Swoon. But now Screech is creepy as hell and the original series has been off the air for 21 years.

4. Rydell High

grease electrifying

With fabulous hair, spontaneous outbursts of song and enviable wardrobe choices, Grease made us want to have sex on a beach, without us really knowing what it meant. Sure, it didn’t harm us, did it? Did it?

5. Horace Green Prep School

Sure, the actual school from School of Rock had pretension down to a fine art but, as usual, Jack Black came to save the day with his usual brand of rock-based shenanigans. In his class, everyone had a place and they were all great in their roles. Inclusiveness ftw.

6. Shermer High School

breakfastclub

The Breakfast Club was the quintessential high school movie of the eighties and is still considered one of the best.

7. North Shore High School

Mean Girls Cake of Rainbows 2

Oh, Mean Girls. The film that spawned a million memes, and saw Lindsay Lohan in her last big role, is still as popular as ever. In this school, Tina Fey would be your teacher, you’d get involved in huge physical fights with the others in your class, and you’d realise that butter is a carb. What’s not to love? So fetch.

8. William McKinley High

There have been a few fictitious high schools of this particular name, but if you are at all adept with Netflix, you have checked out the glory of Freaks and Geeks. It pretty much kick-started the careers of many of today’s comedic talents, including Jason Segel and Seth Rogen, and it’s still probably the best work most of them have produced. So, big question, are you a freak or a geek?

9. Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters

30 rock x men

Okay, really, who didn’t want to be a part of the X-Men, to be nurtured by Professor X and remain on the side of good; depending, of course, on your own personal affiliations? Sure, if you’re going to be a weirdo, you may as well get a power out of it, right?

10. Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Harry Potter Hogwarts Home

The be all and end all of fictional schools, it’s on perhaps every list of fictional schools we want(-ed) to attend, even if you don’t like Harry Potter. The nerdier among you may even know the house into which you would be sorted. Potions class would’ve been a hell of a lot more fun than Chemistry or whatever else they tried to throw at us.

Selena Gomez has hit back at vile cyber-bullies who wrote: “burn in hell with cancer” on one of her photos on Instagram.

The singer did not take the horrific comment lying down and called out the person in question with a photo saying: “The comment you left about cancer was absurd. How distasteful of a young woman. I have gone through that battle with fans and family members. You can dislike someone but to wish something that could happen to you or your family is uncalled for sweetheart. You won’t be winning ‘anyone’s’ heart that way. Trust me. Educate yourself a tad more. God bless love. Be an amazing woman. You’re beautiful. “

Selena also accompanied the message with a caption that read: “Honestly, I don’t speak up much because it’s simply *always* taken out of context. But I don’t take bullying well. I have seen too much not to say anything.”

Wow, we’re so glad that Selena did not let that person’s awful comment go without repercussion.

Do you have one clearly defined best friend, or a couple of really good friends? Lots of TV shows and books see the female character with one very best friend (Meredith and Christina on Grey’s Anatomy, Jess and Cece on New Girl, Monica and Rachel in Friends), but is this true to real life?

Alice Robb from Newstatesman did some research into what being “best friends” actually means when you’re an adult. One woman she talked to said that her “best friend” was changed depending on the other person’s geographic location, relationship statues and job: “I have a high-school bestie, a college bestie, a bestie from my DC days, etc. that all make up my ‘bestie tier’.

“I think of it as concentric circles – a small number of people are my core support/friend group, the centre of my social/emotional world, and I call them all ‘my best friend’ or besties.”

The BFF trend seems to be solely a female one, Oxford evolutionary psychologist Robin Dunbar said that: “The BFF (or “[same sex] Best Friend Forever”) seems to be a peculiarly female thing.

“Men, once they couple off, prefer their best friend to be their romantic partner.”

Psychologists say that relying on one person for all your emotional needs is unhealthy. They say that labelling one friend as your best friend puts the same pressure onto your friendship as say, a romantic relationship would hold, only with less benefits. Dunbar said: “Because these relationships are very intense (in a non-sexual way), they are also very fragile. When they bust, they bust forever and acrimoniously.”

What do you think – are BFFs ok, or should we stop choosing favourites from our group of average friends?

Uh oh!

Something tells us that Kim Kardashian is going to be far from pleased with her step-brother, Brody Jenner.

The former star of The Hills was pictured attending the wedding of Kim's ex boyfriend, Reggie Bush!

While we're sure Kim has no problem that the two men remained friends, it all just seems a bit odd given that Brody chose to skip Kim and Kanye's wedding.

It was rumoured back in May when Brody failed to make an appearance at Kim's wedding, that it was because his girlfriend, Kaitlynn Carter, did not receive an invitation.

We’re glad Ronan’s personal life is going so well, because if he was depending on his career for his happiness, well, he’d be left wanting.

Ronan made his acting debut in the film Goddess, where he played a husband whose wife becomes an overnight singing sensation and swaps the kitchen sink for stardom. It doesn’t sound THAT bad, but audiences clearly weren’t about to chance it, as the film has only made €92 in its first week in Ireland. Things get slightly better when you count the figures from the UK, but not drastically at just €1,020.

When asked about how he felt about the film, the singer previously said: “I’m scared, I’m nervous. The reviews are going to be … we’ll see.”

Sounds like he wasn’t too optimistic himself! Let’s just go back to focusing on the success of Mrs. Brown’s Boys, shall we?

High street store Topshop, is facing some strong criticism from its customers, after one of its shoppers found a necklace that displays 19th century racist depictions of East Asians.

Apparently the customer questioned the store manager about the necklace, who then defended the jewellery design, saying it was “vintage” and, therefore, not racist.

The customer soon shared their complaints on Twitter, where many agreed that the said necklace shared racist depictions of the Asian community.

The necklace and matching earrings have since been removed from Topshop’s website, but images of necklace are still floating around on many social media sites.

We’re all too familiar with the many food adverts aimed at women and of course, the double standards surrounding them.

Thankfully, CollegeHumor has managed to show the complicated relationship us ladies are supposed to have with food, in a hilarious way.

The joke advert shows women going about their normal day, but then of course scoffing down a box of yodels in secret.

Our favourite and probably most accurate quote from the advert, is of course this gem: “Eating is unfeminine. You should feel guilty about it … but also sexually aroused by it. But also, you should feel guilty about your sexuality.”

Not sure we want a packet of yodels after watching this, but it made us laugh anyway.

There's no doubt about it – Mariah Carey looked smokin’ hot in Terry Richardson’s finished photos, but Jezebel have reportedly obtained exclusive un-retouched photos from the shoot, and let’s just say, Photoshop played a big part in the final product.

Mariah’s skin was darkened, her waist pulled in, her hair was given more volume, her boobs made bigger – basically, the Photoshop fairies fixed her up good and proper.

Do you agree with the photos being retouched, or do you think they are selling an unattainable ideal? Should Mariah simply have chosen a more flattering outfit and left the Photoshop behind? Let us know!

We know weddings can be stressful, but this scary e-mail from one bridezilla to her bridesmaids-to-be, just might be taking the big day preps a bit too far.

The bride had written the scary e-mail in 2013, but only now has it gone viral. We really feel for the bridesmaids at this wedding.

“To my lovely Bridesmaid: (Names removed)

As you all know I picked 10 wonderful ladies to stand by my side, share and make happen my special day to Jake. Each of you individually have a reason and a special place in my heart of why I picked you to be a bridesmaid. We have set our date for Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Vail, Colorado. That seems far away but it really isn’t, the earlier the planning the better. You may have already knew that my wonderful sister L— will be the Maid of Honor, she’s in charge under me. Also my lovely mom will be a big help as well. L— has a big role in throwing me a bridal shower and bachelorette party, of course all of you guys do but at the end of the day shes the go to person and makes it happen+Doe.

You all have a big roll in this wedding, so before we continue I’m going to be setting some ground rules and its very important you read and think about everything through before you accept this honor to be a bridesmaid. If you guys email anything I would also like you to put L— in the CC. Not all the bridesmaid need to be CC’d unless its coming from me or L—, if it something everyone needs to see then well do it. We set the date to August 31, 2013 if that’s a problem we need to know NOW. Also by the end of the week we will be setting dates for the engagement party, bridal show and bachelorette party.

Our wedding party is really the most important people at the wedding besides my self and Jake so we want every single one of our bridesmaid and grooms at our parties, I have 10 not 8 where two couldn’t make it so if you already know you cant make one of the parties then we have to find someone else, not to be harsh in the slightest it would sadden me and of course you’ll still be invited to our wedding, engagement ect. But it’s different if your not in the wedding party and couldn’t make it. We’ll give everyone well advance dates for the parties and it will always fall on a weekend. The wedding as I stated will be in Vail the engagement party will either be in NY or CT and the bachelorette party will be in Vegas, cliche yeaa but I’ve never been.

A few girls live out of town so if there is going to be a problem with coming to either one then I need to know now because after this week I don’t want to be surprised. I would like everyone to send me any dates they are going away or planning to go away after February so if your going away in January I don’t care. I want any dates from February to the day of our wedding in August, that way we know not to plan something when your away. But after this week the dates are set in stone. Also if money is tight and you cant afford to contribute to say the bachelorette party or wont be able to afford a dress etc then L— and Myself don’t have time to deal with that, I’m sorry. This includes flights as well, everyone knows the states where the parties are going to be held so if you wont be able to afford a flight then that means you cant make a party which ultimately means I cant have you as a bridesmaid. Obviously we’ll get the best deals and were not gonna books flights for $1000 and shit that’s why were doing this in advance, that goes for bridesmaids dresses as well everything will be affordable but if you think by affordable its going to be a $25 forever 21 dress then your going to the wrong wedding.

If your out of state though don’t think you have to fly in for all fittings, that we will work with you, find stores in your town, get measurements..you don’t have to worry about that. Also if you accept this honor another thing is that you need to be available, I’m not going to harass you with wedding stuff every hour of everyday but if its something important and it takes you a week even 2-3 days to get back to me seeeee ya! I don’t have time to wait around for responses, everyone has their phone on them, it shouldn’t take you more than a day to get back to me, even if your out of the country, check your email!

Furthermore, Ever since I could remember I have dreamed about this day all my life. I want to share it with the people that are most important to me. You only get one time to plan your dream wedding and I couldn’t pick a more amazing group of girls to make that dream come true! So please, what’s stated above think about it all and by Wednesday I need to know if everyone is 100% in, and what I have asked about sending me dates if your gonna be away between Feb-Aug ill need that on Wednesday. If you don’t think you’ll be able to attend one party but can make the rest of them I’m sorry but I’ll have to take you out as a bridesmaid and put you as a guest. If you want to get back to me before Wednesday, that’s fine. Really think about everything I’ve said. This is really going to be the most epic wedding ever so I hope you girls can share this special day with us!

Love,

(The Bride)”

Thalia Heffernan, who has been linked with One Direction’s Niall Horan, has spoken out about the level of bitchiness within the modelling industry.

The Dublin blonde said that other models aren’t all that nice: “It’s not the most friendly environment. The models don’t really care for you that much. A lot of them just regard you as competition, especially if you’re in any way similar.

“The blonde girl might not even speak to me, or the girl with the same skin tone, or the same height.

“I’m very friendly, maybe a bit too much sometimes, and they don’t know how to react when I bound into a room and they are intimidated by me for the wrong reasons.”

Thalia says she tried to tone down her bubbly nature to fit in: “I tried being a cow, too, but it was too hard.”

Oh well, there goes that idea! Since being a cow didn’t work out, Thalia has decided to just focus on the positive: “People will say how lucky I am, or that they idolise me, or that they admire me, which is nice, and I have to focus on that and not the person who says a negative that pulls me down.

“It’s a battle, but it’s a battle that comes with the job description. I’m happy with my choice, but it has chosen me, too. I haven’t denied it, and it’s incredible, it really is.”
