Before you say it, Mean Girls 2 doesn’t count. As far as we’re concerned, that never even happened.

Now though a real Mean Girls sequel could be on the cards, with Lindsay Lohan promising to “harass Tina [Fey] to write it”.

Yes, yes, 1000 times yes. Tina Fey can do no wrong in our eyes so if she’s on board, then we will be camping out in front of the cinema to watch a new Mean Girls film.

Lindsay made the suggestion in a Time Out interview this week, maybe in an effort to recapture what was inarguably the peak of her career.

When asked about Mean Girls the 28-year-old actress replied, “People really love the movie: how do you top that?”

“I was with Tina Fey the other day and I said we should do another Mean Girls, like an older version where they’re all housewives and they’re all cheating. That would be really funny.”

That is SO fetch.

Rachel McAdams has said that during the filming of Mean Girls, she was completely in awe of Lindsay Lohan!

The actress was speaking with Allure magazine when she said: “If anything, I was in awe of her talent. I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural.”

While Lindsay’s acting career has taken something of a nosedive in recent years, Rachel has gone from strength to strength, starring in amazing movies such as The Notebook and Midnight in Paris.

At least she still speaks highly of her troubled former co-star, such a lady!

It’s not just Hogwart’s that gives you a pang of jealousy when you remember your own secondary school, but many others too! Though mostly Hogwart’s…

Here are some other fictional schools we would love to have gone to!

1. St. Trinian’s

tumblr_m4t7ih9U9N1rq645g

This is the ultimate school for bad girls; whether you watched one of the original five, the two reboots or read the original books, you’d know that this isn’t the usual English boarding school. The girls smoked, drank and gambled, while the principal bitched at them. Yeah, sounds about right!

2. Sunnydale High School

buffy_glory

Sure, the place was rife with vampires and other demonic hellspawn, but Buffy was there and you could watch her kick ass like nobody’s business. You could go to school with Willow and Xander, and maybe just join their clique. Plus, Giles was just the best mentor ever.

3. Bayside High School

Saved By The Bell was a staple of nineties’ teen comedies, and why did you want to go there? Depending on your sexual preference, it was Zach Morris or Kelly Kapowski. Swoon. But now Screech is creepy as hell and the original series has been off the air for 21 years.

4. Rydell High

grease electrifying

With fabulous hair, spontaneous outbursts of song and enviable wardrobe choices, Grease made us want to have sex on a beach, without us really knowing what it meant. Sure, it didn’t harm us, did it? Did it?

5. Horace Green Prep School

Sure, the actual school from School of Rock had pretension down to a fine art but, as usual, Jack Black came to save the day with his usual brand of rock-based shenanigans. In his class, everyone had a place and they were all great in their roles. Inclusiveness ftw.

6. Shermer High School

breakfastclub

The Breakfast Club was the quintessential high school movie of the eighties and is still considered one of the best.

7. North Shore High School

Mean Girls Cake of Rainbows 2

Oh, Mean Girls. The film that spawned a million memes, and saw Lindsay Lohan in her last big role, is still as popular as ever. In this school, Tina Fey would be your teacher, you’d get involved in huge physical fights with the others in your class, and you’d realise that butter is a carb. What’s not to love? So fetch.

8. William McKinley High

There have been a few fictitious high schools of this particular name, but if you are at all adept with Netflix, you have checked out the glory of Freaks and Geeks. It pretty much kick-started the careers of many of today’s comedic talents, including Jason Segel and Seth Rogen, and it’s still probably the best work most of them have produced. So, big question, are you a freak or a geek?

9. Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters

30 rock x men

Okay, really, who didn’t want to be a part of the X-Men, to be nurtured by Professor X and remain on the side of good; depending, of course, on your own personal affiliations? Sure, if you’re going to be a weirdo, you may as well get a power out of it, right?

10. Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Harry Potter Hogwarts Home

The be all and end all of fictional schools, it’s on perhaps every list of fictional schools we want(-ed) to attend, even if you don’t like Harry Potter. The nerdier among you may even know the house into which you would be sorted. Potions class would’ve been a hell of a lot more fun than Chemistry or whatever else they tried to throw at us.

While celebrations seem to have come and gone for the 10th anniversary of Mean Girls, we still have another excuse to quote our favourite film to our hearts content.

Mean Screen and the producers have decided to come together to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the film’s first release in Ireland with a special screening of the film in June.

As well as an opportunity to re-watch our favourite film, the Sugar Club is also creating amazing offers to celebrate the anniversary with special themed Mean Girls drinks, including  Glen Coco Cocktails (you go Glen Coco!)

Tickets are on sale now for the special plastics event and doors will open from 7.30 pm on Tuesday the 3rd of June at Sugar Club, Leeson Street, Dublin.

We can’t wait, it’s going to be so fetch!

Can you BELIEVE it’s been a whole 10 years since Mean Girls was released? Scary!

To celebrate the birthday of one the best high school comedies of all time, here are 10 totally fetch things you probably didn’t know about Mean Girls.

1. Lindsay Lohan’s character Cady is named after Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a feminist and groundbreaker in the Women’s Rights Movement. Writer Tina Fey regularly tips her hat to iconic figures of the feminist movement in her work. Right on!

2. Before Mean Girls producer Lorne Michaels decided that Amanda Seyfried would be best cast as the “dumb girl,” she was supposed to play Cady!

3. Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams are eight years apart, but play characters who are the same age in the movie.

4. Scarlett Johansson auditioned to play Karen! We just can’t see it.

MEAN GIRL - SCAR

5. President Obama’s a Mean Girls fan! Last summer, the White House tweeted out this picture of the First Dog, Bo, with this nod to arguably Mean Girls’ most enduring line.

MEAN GIRLS 26. Amy Poehler (Regina’s mum) is only seven years older than Rachel McAdams (Regina) — she was just 32 at the time she filmed Mean Girls. ‘Oh, you girls keep me young …’

MEAN GIRLS 3

7. The song playing at the school dance is Built This Way, by Samantha Ronson. By 2008, Sam and Lindsay were dating! Fate? No so much as it turns out.

8. Tina Fey picked Jonathon Bennett to play Aaron Samuels, because “he looked like Jimmy Fallon,” which we totally see now that she mentions it.

MEAN GIRLS 4

9. Lizzy Caplan’s character Janis Ian got her name from the folk singer of the same name, whose biggest hit At 17 is a heartbreaking ballad about being a teen outsider: “I learned the truth at seventeen, that love was meant for beauty queens, and high school girls with clear-skinned smiles.” While the heterosexual Janis of the film has to deal with rumours that she’s a lesbian, the real life Janis Ian is indeed gay.

10. Lizzy Caplan was in a six-year relationship with Matthew Perry from 2006. This is more shocking than when Trang Pak slept with Coach Carr!

Great news for Mean Girls’ fans out there, as Amanda Seyfried said she would be totally up for a reunion film.

Amanda became famous as a result of the teen comedy classic, where she played Plastics clique member, Karen Smith.

Karen was the ditzy member of the popular clique and in the film she thought she was able to predict the weather, using her boobs.

Amanda admitted she would love to have a reunion with her fellow Mean Girls’ stars, but isn’t sure how it would work out.

“I can’t imagine it working out but it would be nice. I mean, I’d love to do that but I know everybody is kinda busy.”

But the star admits even 10 years on, she still gets asked by fans about her character’s famous weatherwoman boobs: “People ask me to tell them what the weather is going to be like, they just want me to touch my boobs – and that’s fine!”

But a reunion film doesn’t look likely as Mean Girls’ creator, Tina Fey said at the beginning of the year there was no sequel in the works. Well, we can still dream.
