girl’s trip

Now that the Christmas celebrations are beginning to wind down, we have been dreaming of hopping on a plane. We’re so tired of these freezing, dark evenings – we're desperate for some sunshine!

We find ourselves swooning over snaps of Bali and Hawaii on Instagram and scrolling through the Ryanair site to see what flights we can afford with the €16 in our bank accounts.

If you too are hoping to jet away with the gals in the coming months then we’ve got wonderful news for you.

Going away with the girlies is actually good for your health.

That’s right, booking a girls trip will boost your happiness and improve your health, according to researchers and who are we to argue with science?

Psychologist William Chopik discovered that our friendships have the biggest impact on our wellbeing. His study, which was published in Personal Relationships, found that spending quality time with your friends improves your mood.

He explained, “These are relationships of choice. You choose to hang out together because you enjoy each other’s company.”

He added:  “You can sit down, look them in the eye, have a true back-and-forth, and read each other’s body language. They can see you and your facial expressions. You’re emotionally responding to things, and you can pick up on their emotions. You don’t always get that through a phone call.”

Going away with your friends will help you spend pure quality time together. We don't get a chance to have heart-to-hearts during coffee dates or cinema trips so it is the perfect way to bond with your best pals.

If anyone needs us we’ll be looking up Air BnBs with our besties. A holiday is well-needed!

Looks like Kylie Jenner and big sis Khloe Kardashian are staying strong by partying on amid the Tristan Thompson/Jordyn Woods scandal.

It was only last week that Kylie's supposed best friend Jordyn allegedly acted inappropriate with Kardashian's apparently boyfriend Tristan, and predictably sh*t hit the fan.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars enjoyed a night out on Sunday despite all of the drama, and of corurse, they looked glamorous AF.

Captioning the photo; "Smile for the camera", Kourtney posted a series of jaw-dropping images featuring the sisters, minus Kim.

With diamanté bodysuits hugging the curves of Kourtney and Khloe, Kendall's gorgeous red vinyl dress and LEGS FOR DAYS, the family look more stunning than ever. We ain't jealous, though… only a little.

The 21-year-old Kylie Cosmetics founder shared moments of herself and 34-year-old Khloé on their way to an Oscar’s after party (was it Beyoncé and Jay-Z's?).

Kendall Jenner made an exclusive appearance at the lavish Vanity Fair's Oscar's after party alongside Caitlyn Jenner.

Kylie can be seen on her Snapchat account wearing a green outfit paired with stunning emerald jewellery, with Khloe opting for a daring, shimmery jumpsuit and her signature bob straightened.

Kourtney Kardashian also shared moments from the bash, including a photoshoot of herself with Khloé and Kendall. The latter two made a quick change after the Vanity Fair party.

39-year-old Kourtney looked INSANELY good in her sheer diamond gown, wearing a daring black bra and thong underneath, accessorising with Yeezy heels.

23-year-old Kendall wore a red leather dress, tights, white gloves and white pointed heels; a different lewk from her controversial Vanity Fair party emsemble.

Khloé also shared the photos on her Instagram account, but captioned it “Step up in the bitch like,” quoting brother-in-law Kanye West‘s song Waves.

Her big night out comes in the wake of her girls trip with Kim Kardashian and BFF Malika Haqq, which was to take her mind off the Tristan infidelity scandal.

38-year-old Kim documented the trip on her Instagram Stories, with PEOPLE claiming they headed to Palm Springs.

“Kim took Khloé to Palm Springs one night before the weekend so she could have a relaxing getaway,” says the insider, adding that Khloé is “doing okay.”

“Her family continues to support her,” the source says. “Everyone is trying to cheer her up and be around to help. They all still talk a lot about what happened. Their opinion hasn’t changed- what happened between Tristan and Jordyn is inexcusable.”

According to the source, Kylie is struggling to move past the alleged betrayal caused by longtime best friend Jordyn.

“Kylie still seems torn,” the source says. “It’s going to be very difficult for her to cut Jordyn completely out of her life.” Jordyn has apparently blamed the incident with Tristan on alcohol.

“Her story keeps changing a bit, and it’s almost like she is digging herself deeper,” a different source told PEOPLE.

“It’s been a week now of nonsense explaining from her side. Everyone thinks she wanted to hook up with Tristan and she just didn’t think she was gonna get caught.”

Whether it's a girl's trip to a Spanish beach resort or a backpacking adventure through South East Asia, there are a few essentials you can't afford to forget about.

While travelling is one of the most exciting and enriching things we can do, leaving the important items at home has the potential to ruin your trip.

Many of the standards we keep up at home fly out the window as soon as we step onto foreign soil, but there are some things you always need to bear in mind.

From eyewear, to health products, to electronic lifesavers, here's your essential guide to everything you'll need to take with you when travelling, wherever the destination.

Carry-On

Your carry-on bag should always be reserved for the most important items, especially any relating to your health and wellbeing.

That means any medications you need should always be carry-on items, as well as any special equipment or health-related items that you need to function.

It's also a good idea to have some "travel versions" of items that you regularly use.

If you're visually impaired, your best bet is to bring contacts, no prescription needed, along with you in your backpack or handbag.

If you're worried about where to pick some up or have already left for the airport, it's now easier (and faster) than ever to get no RX contact lenses online.

Simply order your contacts without prescription from a trusted retailer and you'll receive them in no time. Similar rules apply to everyday items such as tampons, painkillers and bug-repellent sprays, all hang-luggage material.

Also make sure to pack a change of underwear and any device chargers in your carry-on – baggage going missing is not unheard of and these are things you don't want to be caught without!

Suitcase

Some items can be stuffed into your suitcase to be used upon arrival in your destination.

Make sure to pack clothing for every weather (and enough clothes for a few days at least), as well as however much makeup is needed to get you through the day.

It's also recommended that you pack a towel in case your accommodation doesn't provide one, as well as a sleeping bag liner in order to avoid any nasty surprises in a hostel dorm room bed.

Also make sure to throw in larger liquids such as moisturiser, shampoo, wet wipes (a true godsend) and any other toiletries you can think of, and you will be prepared.

Electronics

The truly savvy traveller knows to take the right electronics on board with them.

Luckily, all you really need is an average modern smartphone, as long as you've downloaded the right apps.

Wherever you're going, consider downloaded apps specifically run by the public transport authorities of your destination. Also make sure to get apps detailing air pollution, temperature, pollen count and local SPV.

You can take steps towards meeting other successful women on the go with popular friendship apps such as MeetUp, so you can expand your global network.

The key to smart travel is looking after yourself. Once the essentials are taken care of, the rest will fall into place.
