Dublin

Another Dublin pub has shut its doors, and we're beyond upset about this tragedy. It seems like so many gems of the capital city have been forced to close, and the latest one is hitting Dubliners hard.

The Hill pub of Ranelagh has announced it will "close with immediate effect" due to "circumstances beyond our control."

The venue released a short statement on Twitter, with customers showing their support:

"We would like to thank all of our wonderful customers over the last few years, you have all been amazing," the pub wrote.

Fans and visitors of the location made sure to show the pub love in the comments, wishing the pub luck with any other business ventures they attempt.

Independent businesses and nightlife spots have been noticeably struggling to stay open in the city centre, with rent costs sky high and corporations reducing the market to a monopoly.

We wish the best of luck in the future to The Hill, hopefully it can reopen in a few years for some fresh pints.

Scottish-born singer and nephew of Peter Capaldi, Lewis Capaldi, has won hearts all over the nation with his HILARIOUS social media antics and voice of a gravelly angel.

His new album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, is out May 17 and features his UK Number 1 platinum-selling single Someone You Loved. It's officially the longest running number one single of the past 25 years, so he's hit the big time.

Part of the reason why he's found chart success is his campaigning on Twitter and Instagram, using absolutely gas photos of himself sporting various eccentric sunglasses and filming his strange antics.

If you haven't seen the thread of him having to unclog his toilet, you've missed out. Our personal fave is the stream of himself listening to Ariana Grande's latest album, which was set to knock his tune out of the charts.

In fact, his song made it back into the top 10, reaching number one and staying there. We're SO glad it did, because this down-to-earth chap with a love for Tinder deserves it.

After supporting Picture This at their five consecutive 3Arena nights recently, Capaldi is coming back to Dublin for his very own 2020 arena tour.

Sunday March 8, 2020 at Dublin's 3Arena sold out in minutes, as well as the rest of the UK tour dates, but our boy has hooked us up with an extra date on March 9, 2020.

He's also initiating his special LIVELIVE programme to support fans experiencing emotional difficulties and have concerns about attending shows.

There'll be a team at each venue who are expertly trained and qualified in assisting with panic, anxiety or any other concerns fans may have. Capaldi created the scheme after his own experiences with anxiety had a dramatic effect on him.

Speaking about the idea, the singer said; "I really wanted to put something in place to help those people feel comfortable and offer them support to allow them to experience the shows."

The 22-year-old's tunes have been streamed over 600,000 times, and the youngster was shortlisted for the BBC Critics Choice Award. Tickets from €37.35 are on sale now via Ticketmaster, grab yours now.

A live DJ plays the tracks while an instructor takes you through the high impact moves – and it looks absolutely deadly.

The lavish Stella Theatre experience is a gorgeous one to behold for any movie lover.

There's extravagant décor, plush red velvet seats and beds, as well as a cocktail bar and vintage-style cinematic elements; what could be better?

Currently, the Stella has two locations in Dublin: Ranelagh and Rathmines, but now Press Up have announced that the company are expanding.

"Press Up, Ireland’s leading hospitality group, are excited to bring the Stella Theatre to Bray. Combining the thrill of the cinema with a beautiful food and drinks offering in luxe surrounds," they tweeted.

That's right, the Stella is coming to Co. Wicklow. The cinema is set to light up Bray, and there are also plans to open an Elephant & Castle restaurant as part of a new retail space.

The town clearly has some big plans, and anyone based further south in Dublin will be able to hop on the Dart straight to the lush cinema.

Press Up Group are the company behind popular bars and fancy restaurants in Dublin such as The Stella Diner, The Lucky Duck, Sophie's and The Grayson.

The Devlin hotel and the Dean hotel are part of the group's noteworthy portfolio, so bringing glitz and glamour to Dublin's food, drink and entertainment industry is top on their list of priorities.

BYOB is usually something you associate with a pre drinks party, but one Dublin bar is putting a twist on the concept that we absolutely love.

Drop Dead Twice, which began as a pop-up back in October, has been made a permanent feature at its location at The Stage 19 on Francis Street, Dublin.

The bar invites guests to openly bring their own alcohol (not sneakily stashed in your clutch) and have a selection of bespoke cocktails made using the spirit of their choice.

A post shared by DropDeadTwice (@dropdead_twice) on

Whether you choose to bring vodka, gin or whiskey, Drop Dead Twice mixologists are well able to get creative when it comes to concocting the perfect cocktails.

The team draw on their expertise to come up with original and unique beverages, using a wide range of fresh and homemade ingredients.

A post shared by Dublin Foodie(@yummydublin) on

The premise is simple, just book in for a two or three hour session and bring your booze to the bar.

If you are booked in for two hours, Drop Dead Twice recommends bringing a naggin per person, which will get you four cocktails.

If you are booked in for 3 hours they recommend bringing a shoulder per person, which will get you six or seven creative drinks.

The fee is pretty damn reasonable, at €25.00 per person for 2 hours and €30.00 per person for 3 hours.

The team talks you through what you like and what you don’t like before whipping up a selection of cocktails for you and the gals.

It's definitely a brilliant and boozy way to spend an evening.
