As the festive season fast approaches, it's time to reignite our love for the 'King of Cool' himself, Michael Bublé.

And what better way to reacquaint yourself with the Canadian crooner than a fully seated concert at Dublin's Croke Park?

That's right, the multi-Grammy award winner has just announced he will perform at the iconic venue on Saturday, July 7, 2017.

This will be his first performance on Irish shores in five years and his only Irish date of 2018.

Speaking about the announcement, Michael said: “I can’t wait to come over to see my fans in Dublin and play Croke Park for my largest ever Irish show! "

"You guys have been patient and I can't thank you enough for all your support. And for those of you that haven’t seen me live, well… I just haven’t met you yet!”

Tickets from €89.50 including booking fee go on sale Friday, November 17, at 9am via Ticketmaster.

U2 took to the Croke Park stage last night for a pretty impressive concert.

And while lovers and hates tweeted about them all day, there's nothing like the tweets from inside the venue.

From the classic songs, to the tri-colour jets, it seems like everyone had a damn good night.

Here are the best tweets from U2's gig last night:

For anyone who may not have gotten the memo, Bono and the lads are taking to the stage in Croke Park tonight.

With some tickets going for as much as €11,000 online, there's no denying that when it come to Ireland's most famous exports, people would bend over backwards to see themselves reflected in Bono's shades.

And with just hours to go until the world-famous foursome take to the stage, Twitter is absolutely hopping, but the thing is, because it's Ireland and it's U2, it's quite a mixed bag.

From elation to pure scorn, Twitter isn't holding back on this one.

1. There was this.

2. But then there was this.

 3. But at least this guy is happy.

4. Unlike these guys.

5. Thankfully, Bono and the lads have this gal on side.

6. But not this guy.

7. Unlike this guy…

8. Ouch.

Following last month's horrific Manchester Arena attack, concert venues across the world have been cracking down on security.

Croke Park is following suit, as Gardaí and MCD promotions have issued a warning before tonight's Coldplay gig.

First up, Gardai have advised that people allow extra time to get to Croke Park,  as there will be full body and bag searches for everyone to gain entry.

An armed support unit will also be at the scene.

Inspector Tony Gallagher told The Irish Examiner that the Gardaí are well prepared.

'We've a very robust policing and traffic plan in relation to it and we've some 180 personnel working at the event.'

'We're there really to facilitate the enjoyment of this concert by the 82,000 fans,' he said.

Big bags, backpack, selfie sticks, and large umbrellas are also banned from the concert.

For the countless fans who missed out on a Coldplay ticket last Friday morning, the latest news to emerge on the back of the Ticketmaster controversy won't make for pleasant reading today.

According to reports, Coldplay will not – repeat, will not –  be adding a second date to the Irish leg of their tour.

Dashing the hopes of fans around the country, MCD manager Denis Desmond confirmed that the suggestion simply isn't an option for Chris and the lads.

"There won’t be a second Coldplay gig in Dublin. They don’t have the time." he confirmed when quizzed on the issue.

“The band is playing only 15 gigs in Europe next Summer and only two in the UK," he added.

While their Irish fans won't be treated to a second date, a number of other European cities are getting the two-day treatment.

Bitter? Us? Yes.

In case you missed it, tickets for Coldplay's Croke Park gig went on sale yesterday morning, and despite queuing, refreshing, sweating and praying, countless fans emerged from their mission empty-handed.

And if Twitter is anything to go by, disgruntled fans know exactly who they want to blame.

Venting fury at Ticketmaster, members of the public have accused the outlet of providing their sister company with tickets which were ultimately sold at a higher price – an accusation which the company have denied.

Between the gig selling out in under forty minutes and tickets going for re-sale soon after, Twitter is not happy.

If you're one of the thousands who have spent all week salivating over the thought of getting your hands on a Coldplay ticket, then it's likely you're pretty disappointed right now.

While countless fans prepped and primed themselves for this morning's ticket release, it looks like it just wasn't meant to be for so many Irish fans today.

According to emerging reports this morning, the Croke Park gig sold out in apparently just one minute… although we're thinking approximately 30 is more likely.

And Twitter is not happy at all.

Today is the replay of the All-Ireland final between Mayo and Dublin.

It's safe to say the excitement for today has been building all week, and while we've had some sweet stories about the match, it's the people of Twitter who do it for us everytime.

Here's some gas tweets from the fans at the All-Ireland today:

Sometimes, our lovely Gardaí are just too funny.

As we all know, the country is in a fit because of the bus strike this Saturday which will no doubt cause chaos for anyone heading to the All-Ireland match.

But, the An Garda Síochána's Facebook page has now issued a warning to put a few minds at ease… and we just don't even know what to say about it.

It begins: "A thought for those on the Annual Pilgrimage to Croke Park on Saturday!

"Consider that not all the snakes have left Ireland. We have Red and Green ones! So we urge all the pilgrims from the west to consider sliding into town on a snake." Like… what??

It continues: "The wheels on the bus go round and round however we seek divine intervention and hope they are running on Saturday. Jumping on a bus you might not get far, you won't stop off to pick up your guitar."

There's another few paragraphs to the message, which you can read above.

They're serious craic lads.

With the hurling final wrapped up again for another year, sporting attentions have now turned to the All Ireland football final in two weeks' time.

Taking place on Sunday, September 18 between Dublin and Mayo, understandably demand for tickets for the game far exceeds supply.

But while most disappointed punters have resigned themselves to watching the match in their local, some desperate fans are seemingly willing to shell out THOUSANDS of euro to secure a coveted seat in Croke Park.

Indeed, eBay currently has a pair of recently posted tickets for sale at €1,000 – with further bids being placed hourly.

Facebook page All Dublin GAA Fans has also shared screen-grabs of further outrageous sales which it says are also currently taking place on eBay.

One asking-price for two tickets stands at an eye-watering €3,050 while another snaps shows an astonishing figure of €12,000 – although it is not clear how many seats this secures.

"Wow!! Tickets are being sold on eBay for between €3,050 and €12,100 for Dublin's All Ireland football final against Mayo in two weeks," the fan-page wrote this morning.

"What do you think of this? Would you pay mad money like that for two tickets for the game? And should people be allowed to sell them for such crazy prices?"

The response to the post has been particularly strong – with many claiming that no 'real' fan would dream of offering up such obscene sums.

One poster wrote: "To be honest I think people who pay that much for a ticket don't deserve to be there. More money than sense. They probably think Croke Park is Dublin's home ground."

They added: "Sure I'll work my arse off so someone can sit at home and make a living off selling tickets. Obviously I'd pay over the odds for a ticket but come on! There's a limit.

"I'm a diehard Dubs fan and haven't been to a final and obviously I'd love to go but if someone said to me I have 2 hill tickets for the final, €1,000 each I'd tell them to you know what."

They continued: "Boils my blood seeing tickets go at this price and there's genuine fans out there who can't get a ticket. To me, if you pay that much for a ticket you're not a real fan in my eyes.

"But, if and its a really big if, if this buyer is a big Dublin fan, why support these scum. Don't care if you're a millionaire you don't give those people that kind of money for 2 Upper Davin tickets. If you're a die hard fan you don't pay for a touts holiday. Bloody joke."

Some big changes are coming to Croke Park soon.

In a joint development between Croke Park Stadium and Dublin City Council, Croke Villas flats are about to be no more.

The project, will see the flats (which are mostly boarded up) being demolished, then done up again, as well as a processional boulevard for the sports stadium.

The boulevard will be the only match-day entrance for sports fans, which will take away much of the chaos that surrounds Croke Park when there's a game on.

The project which will cost €12m, will not only involve the demolition and redevelopment of the apartment complex, but also Sackville Avenue widening, the construction of new homes across from the apartment complex, and also refurbishing seven new houses on the Ballybough Road.

According to 98fm, a resident from the Croke Villa flats said she's hoping to move into one of the new houses.

"For starters, it would be like winning the Lotto. We're all waiting to go and we've been told for the last 8 years that we're going.

"Anything has to be better than what's here."

The construction is said to begin in the next few months.
