Walk the Line star Joaquin Phoenix, not exactly known for his tame television appearances, certainly didn’t disappoint Letterman viewers last night when he appeared on the popular late night chat show.

The acclaimed actor proceed to adopt questionable yoga poses on the floor of the studio before admitting that he’s engaged to be married, a big reveal that seemed to even shock host David Letterman.

The Her star decided to fill David in on a particular experience he had with his yoga instructor by lying on the floor and saying: “I don’t know if you can see this, but it’s a compromising and vulnerable position. My Julio Iglesias is up next to her goulash, and she’s thrusting, she’s pulling.”  Er, OK.

Clearly spurred on by the audience’s reaction to his anecdote, the actor goes on to say: “This is the crazy part of the story, we started dating. And I think she’s the one. I proposed to her and she said yes.”

Accepting congratulations from the clearly taken aback host, Joaquin looked very excited at the prospect of making this woman his wife.

Aw, we wish them both well!

Gwen Stefani, solo star and face of Grammy-award winning band, No Doubt says she doesn’t regret using the Harajuku Girls in her videos and public appearances because it ‘was all meant out of love’.

The 45-year-old musician, who is currently promoting her new album, has opened up in a recent interview with Time magazine about the criticism she received in the wake of her first solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby, released in 2004.

Gwen was slammed for using Asian girls as props, but the singer says: "For me, everything I did with the Harajuku Girls was just a pure compliment and being a fan.”

Refusing to bow to criticism she received during the time and which refuses to go away today, the star said: “You can look at it from a negative point of view if you want to, but get off my cloud.”

Gwen has been accused of treating the women like pets, even renaming them Love, Angel, Music and Baby, but the singer scorns these accusations, saying: “You can’t be a fan of another culture? Of course you can. Of course you can celebrate other cultures.”

Gwen, surprisingly however, goes on to say: “They were dancers that were cast, but they became real.”

Ehm Gwen, they’re living, breathing humans, so weren’t they always real?

It is with very heavy hearts we can reveal Oscar-nominated actress Kate Hudson and Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy have called time on their three-year engagement.

The couple who began dating four years ago became engaged in 2011 and welcomed their son Bingham Hawn Bellamy that same year, but the romance is officially over with Kate seeking comfort from none other than Cheryl Fernandez Versini’s ex-‘something’, Derek Hough. Interesting!

Speaking in the past about her and Matthew’s long engagement, the stunning 35-year-old was unconcerned about the apparent delay, saying; “I’m planning nothing right now. I’m so busy, we’ve been so busy and it’s been great.”

Kate, who was married once before and has a ten-year-old son, Ryder, from the relationship, wasn’t in a rush to head back up the aisle, saying: “My parents aren’t married. And one of the reasons why they never got married is because they had been married before and they liked it the way it was.”

Despite the split, Kate and Matthew are, according to a source, "close friends and committed co-parents.” Kate seems keen to move on, however, and The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star has been spotted out and about with Derek Hough, eating, drinking and staying past closing in top LA restaurants.

Kate mentioned Derek as far back as last year when she said she had been ballroom dancing with him and that ‘it’s been a real blast!”

World-famous band, Green Day, have urged their fans to send ‘love and positive healing vibes’ to their guitarist, Jason White, who has been tragically diagnosed with tonsil cancer.

The devastated band released a statement on Friday saying they wanted to officially announce the news themselves before word spread.

The band members decided to open up on the background of Jason’s diagnosis, saying: “Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer.”

Jason first began performing with Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong in the early 90’s and he became an official member of the five-time Grammy-award winning band in 2012.

The band members are determined to stay positive about their ‘brother’ Jason’s frightening diagnosis, saying: “Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery.”

Unfortunately, this is not the first cancer diagnosis to rock the band. Green Day’s bassist Mike Dirnt revealed earlier this year that his wife Brittney, with whom he shares two children, is currently battling breast cancer.

Our thoughts are with the band during this incredibly difficult time.

Despite selling out arenas all over the world and lining up future concert dates, One Direction are currently dogged by rumours of unrest within the band. And while there are reports constantly suggesting a split is only around the corner, one man who will refuse to let that happen is Danny O’Donoghue from The Script.

Urging the band to stay together, the 34-year-old frontman spoke to the Daily Star on Sunday and said: “If I was advising them I would tell them to stick together as long as possible. It should be the band against the world.”

The latest One Direction story which suggests a split may be on the horizon revolved around reports that an ‘exhausted’ 21-year-old Zayn can no longer cope with fame and may want out, but Danny is having none of it.

Commenting on the reports, the For The First Time singer said: “You have to stick together, protect each other and look after each other. Maybe they just need an extended break, but I wouldn’t advise them to split.”

If the reports that Zayn is sick of fame, overwhelmed by negative publicity and suffering from homesickness are indeed true, then Danny’s words may fall on deaf ears, but hey, it was worth a shot!

While X Factor judge Mel B may be down with the kids and know everyone there is to know on the music scene, the same definitely can’t be said for her 40-year-old husband Stephen Belafonte.

Accompanying his wife to the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year awards this week, the producer and director decided to cosy up with Ellie Goulding for a quick selfie, post the snap on Twitter and Instagram and gush: “Me and @elliegoulding getting our innocent flirt on!! #funcelebs.”

This would be totally fine if it was actually Ellie he was posing with, but it wasn’t. It was X Factor finalist and Ghost singer Ella Henderson. Starry Eyed singer Ellie Goulding wasn’t even at the event. Facepalm.

The oblivious Stephen was alerted to his mistake by ever-vigilant Twitter users who were quick to label the post ‘awks!’ and ‘cringe!’ and even more embarrassingly, Stephen was forced to use the age-old predictive text excuse, saying; “Damn u iPhone!" Good save Stephen, good save.

We wonder what Mel will have to say about her husband’s embarrassing granddad blunder.

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg, best known for his roles in Boogie Nights, Transformers and Ted, hasn’t always been the charming, good humoured guy we all know and love.

The 43-year-old former rapper, who was known as Marky Mark, went down the wrong road as a teenager and found himself behind bars for 45 days for attacking a man with a wooden stick. The incident which happened outside a convenience store in Boston ultimately left the victim blind in one eye. The actor was trying to rob alcohol at the time 

Wahlberg, who had reportedly been drinking and taking drugs, racially abused the Vietnamese shopkeeper before punching another man in the face while he tried to get away from the police. 

The father-of-four was sixteen when the crime took place in 1988 and he is now seeking a pardon as he hopes to have his criminal record erased so that he can work with law enforcement in a bid to help vulnerable or at-risk children.

Discussing the shocking event, Mark said: “I am deeply sorry for the actions that I took on the night of April 8, 1988, as well as for any lasting damage that I may have caused the victims."

He then goes on to explain why he feels he deserves a pardon, saying: "My hope is that, if I receive a pardon, troubled youths will see this as an inspiration and motivation that they too can turn their lives around.”

Mark has told the Massachusetts Board of Pardons that he is focused on becoming a better person and citizen.

Kristin Cavallari has opened up about her time on hit reality TV show Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County in a recent episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now? and it looks like the stunning blonde doesn’t remember her time on the show too fondly.

Admitting she thinks she was too young to have taken part, the 27-year-old said: “We had no idea what we were doing. We were just going along with whatever MTV was telling us to do. We were kids. We didn’t know.”

Feeling "used and manipulated" by the TV execs, Kristin was reduced to tears after the first episode of the show aired.

Remembering what she called ‘a difficult time in her life’, the mum-of-two said: “When I saw the way they represented me, I was really, really upset. I cried for hours and hours after I saw the first episode so it was hard. It was really, really hard.”

Kristin blames MTV for her reputation of being hard-faced, saying: “I put up a wall and I put up a really tough exterior because I felt they were really trying to take advantage of me.”

We wonder if she felt the same way about The Hills execs?

We all know Tom Cruise is no stranger to death-defying stunts in the movies, but we think even this brave actor may struggle to come out on top when accidentally stepping in front of an oncoming bus.

The 52-year-old actor was filming the latest installment of Mission: Impossible in London this week when he seemed to forget all the standard road safety rules.

Amateur footage circulating on the internet shows the pint-sized star trying to cross a busy road before being almost knocked down by one of London’s famous red double-deckers, having failed to realise the lights had changed.

The Minority Report star looks pretty darn chipper when approaching the busy lanes of traffic, but has the wind knocked out of his sails fairly swiftly when he has to made a leap back to safety after getting in the way of an irate London bus driver.

Looking a little bashful, he appears to take a deep breath once out of harm’s way. As you would.

He then retreated back from the road entirely after being approached by who we assume were a couple of concerned film crew members.

You’re dead right Tom, safety first.

Watching sex scenes with your parents is awkward enough, but having your parents sit through a sex scene you actually starred in doesn't bear thinking about. Shudder.

The star of upcoming film adaptation Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota Johnson, has forbidden her mother, actress Melanie Griffith, from watching her performance in the highly anticipated 2015 release.

Despite having told Elle Magazine that she was comfortable filming the sex scenes, saying: “I don’t have any problem doing anything. The secret is I have no shame”, Dakota, who stars as Anastasia Steele in the risqué story, requested that her Oscar-nominated mum might stay home opening weekend to save both their blushes.

When Melanie was asked this week if she would be going to see Fifty Shades on its release, the Golden Globe winner was forced to reply in the negative, saying: “No, I will not be seeing it. Well, because my daughter doesn’t want me too and I don’t think it would be appropriate.”

Melanie is no stranger to a raunchy film role however, having starred in 1980’s flick Body Double so perhaps the pair will have a change of heart closer to the time, although then again, maybe not.

Police are currently investigating terrifying threats made against Paris Hilton and her father, Rick.

The heiress to the Hilton Hotels, who is currently experiencing success as a DJ, has been subjected to frightening online harassment which include rape and death threats.

The perpetrator appears to mistakenly believe the 33-year-old star and her famous family are Jewish, and posts vile anti-Semitic remarks on social media aimed at the Hilton family. However, there is little doubt that the former Simple Life star is the main target.

Paris has had to deal with horrifying posts which encourage people to sexually assault her, with one remark saying: “Invite Paris to the match so we can gang rape her.” Another threat included the cruel taunt “One month and she’s dead. She’s never coming home.”

It has been reported that law enforcement officials in the States know the identity of the star’s harasser, but will be unable to make an arrest until verification via Facebook and Instagram has been confirmed.

We hope the situation is speedily rectified and Paris can move on from these very frightening events.

So it looks like the campsite will have to make do without Jimmy Bullard’s ‘catchy’ songs and legendary ‘banter’ after he became the first person to be voted out of the jungle last night.

The former footballer, who was pitted against Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty, Melanie Sykes and Tinchy Stryder,  was asked by the public to hang up his body warmer, hand over his hat and exit the jungle.

The thirty-six-year old commented on his experience Down Under, saying: “I loved it. I’m a little gutted to be out.”

Jimmy, famous for his campfire rants, was asked to address the backlash he received from the public regarding his apparent bullying of former X Factor contestant Jake Quickenden and said: “It’s banter, that’s all. With Jake and Foggy, I can go that deep. I couldn’t go that deep with Michael. With Jake, I could go that far.”

Being up against his mate Foggy in the public vote must have been difficult, but Jimmy is keen to see his friend take the crown, saying: “I’d love to see Fog win it!”

Despite accusations of bullying, Jimmy is eager to stay in touch with all his campsite buddies, saying: “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m going to stay mates with all of them.”

We’re sure newsreader Michael Burke will be only dying to head for pints with the outrageous Jimmy.
