It’s February already but it really feels like Winter is here to stay for another while yet. We’re still in relaxation mode whenever we get some free time from work, which means feet up, candles lighting and a bowl full of snacks to indulge in as we watch some quality TV.

But, there’s nothing worse than having to watch reruns of old movies and shows we’ve seen too many times. That’s why we’re delighted to see Sky have announced the entertaining movies and brilliant TV shows they are releasing this year. 

There are some real gems hitting Sky this year so whether you’re a crime fan, a drama-lover or are on the lookout for some interesting documentaries, Sky has everything you could need. 

Have a look at the eagerly awaited Sky Originals, comedies, dramas and thrillers below. Don’t forget to stock up on your favourite snacks!

Dublin Narcos

This new three-part docu-series will launch on Sky Crime on March 5. Dublin Narcos tells the story of the increase in addiction, violence, and organised crime during the 1980s and 1990s, with first hand testimonies from drug kingpins and former Gardaí, as well as those who were caught up in a cycle of addiction. Viewers will also see the fearless journalists whose attempts to expose the drug barons led to the death of one of their bravest, Veronica Guerin.

Gary Neville’s The Overlap on Tour

This brand-new Sky Original follows footballing legends Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher on a trip like no other as they travel to Dublin, Liverpool, Manchester and London as part of The Overlap’s Live Arena Tour. Viewers can expect behind the scenes nerves, banter and pep-talks, highlights from the live shows, and special guest appearances. The trio will take a walk down memory lane as they stop at iconic tourist attractions, grassroots clubs and other locations that were memorable to them in their footballing career. 

The Lovers

The six-part drama, which premieres on Sky Atlantic and NOW this year, follows the journey of the love-struck, oddly paired duo, Seamus and Janet, played by Johnny Flynn and Roisin Gallagher. When Seamus unexpectedly drops into Janet’s world, they instantly clash, and yet find themselves drawn to each other. Set in Belfast, this love story is about two people who appear to be utterly wrong for each other, yet may just be utterly right. Written by award winning playwright David Ireland and directed by BAFTA winning Justin Martin, this is a must-see for dramedy fans.

Then You Run

An eight-part series based on Zoran Drvenkar’s thriller novel You is coming to Sky this year. Leah McNamara, Vivian Oparah, Yasmin Monet Prince and Isidora Fairhurst, take on the roles of a close-knit group of rebellious teenagers who are on a getaway in Rotterdam. After Tara’s estranged dad is discovered dead, they find themselves on the run across Europe with three kilos of heroin and deadly criminals snapping at their heels. Tara’s uncle, Reagan, played by Ricahrd Coyle, is hunting her and her pals in order to track down the missing drugs. But Reagan isn’t the only person they should fear because a terrifying and mythical serial killer known as ‘The Traveller’ draws closer to them all. 

Dreamland

Lily Allen and Freema Agyeman star in this comedy-drama, based on Sky’s 2018 BAFTA-winning short of the same name, which was written by Sharon Horgan and produced by Merman. It tells the secrets, lies, loves and aspirations within a family of four sisters. Set in the seaside town of Margate, it is a dark comedic exploration of multi-generational female relationships, and their family dynamics.

Brassic

Sky’s biggest original comedy, Brassic, will be returning for a fifth season. David Livingstone, the executive producer gave an insight into season five. “Who can believe it? Series five. The only way to go on is to be more audacious and more ambitious than ever. Nobody is resting on their laurels. Five will be our best yet. It’s classic Brassic.”

Mr Bigstuff

Estranged brothers Glen (Ryan Sampson) and Lee, played by Danny Dyer in his TV comedy debut, try to patch up a sibling rivalry that may well be beyond repair. Danny Dyer, commented on his role in Mr Bigstuff saying,  “Following my nutty exit from Eastenders I feel like it’s time to recalibrate and try something a bit new. When I read the role of Lee, I was honoured to be asked to develop an exciting character and explore his dysfunctional family relationships. I fell in love with Ryan Sampson while working with him on Plebs. I can’t wait to get involved with his incredible writing”.

Zuckerberg: King of the Metaverse

On Sky Documentaries, this brand-new feature documentary will piece together the events of Mark Zuckerberg’s life along with the creation of Facebook and Meta, combining rarely seen archive footage and exclusive interviews to take us up close and personal to one of the most powerful figures of the 21st century.

Seann Walsh is now a dad!

The comedian welcomed his first child on February 11 with his partner Grace Adderley. The couple are now the parents of a beautiful baby girl.

After sharing the news of his daughter’s arrival, Seann had refrained from disclosing her name or providing a glimpse of her face on social media.

Taking to Instagram earlier today, the new dad posted a heartwarming snap of his baby girl cuddled up with Grace.

“Grace has been through so much this week but she’s finally okay. We’re home. Girl power,” the 37-year-old praised.

At the end of his caption, Seann also made a mockery of himself as he revealed that he had fainted during the birth of his daughter. “Her bravery has made my fainting all the more pathetic," he joked.

Meanwhile, on her own Instagram account, dance teacher Grace decided to share the name that the couple have chosen for their new arrival.

“Wylda girl, I love you,” the new mum gushed in her caption. “so happy to finally be home now xx”.

The name Wylda is of German origin, and its literal translation means ‘untamed’. We think it’s a gorgeous name choice!

“To see how strong she was was one of the most amazing things I will ever see. I am in total awe of the bravery I witnessed,” the Strictly star wrote at the time.

Seann and Grace initially announced in October of last year that they were expecting their first child together, just a few weeks before Seann travelled to Australia to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!. 

The couple have been together since 2019 and tend to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

Heather Rae El Moussa has finally revealed the name of her baby boy!

The Selling Sunset star gave birth to her first child with husband Tarek on January 31. Since their son’s arrival, the couple have kept his name a secret. However, the parents have now decided to share all of the lovely details surrounding their son’s birth!

Speaking to Us Weekly, Heather happily declared the name of her baby boy. “Tristan Jay El Moussa,” she gushed.

The 35-year-old then went into detail about the decision behind her little one’s name. “Tarek was supposed to be named Tristan, and his parents ended up naming him Tarek. And then my dad’s middle name is Jay. So it’s four generations of the middle name Jay,” she explained.

Heather subsequently launched into the story of her son’s birth. “He was supposed to be born on the 27th of January, and he was born on the 31st of January. And so Tarek and I went in for kind of, like, my final doctor appointment [on the 30th],” she recalled.

“That was just an appointment. And we did a stress test. I’m 35 years old, so we had done a stress test on him almost every time I went for the last few weeks. And at that point, he wasn’t moving as much as he usually did,” she noted.

Tarek reminisced further about how, when Heather went into labour, the process was a worrying one. “I thought we were gonna end up going [an] emergency C-section because his heart rate was dropping. And … the doctor told Heather, ‘Give one last big push, give everything you have, let’s see if we can make it happen.’ And she did,” he beamed.

Although she is already a stepmum to Tarek’s two older children, Heather couldn’t help but gush about giving birth to her baby boy. “Having my own and carrying him and then going through the labour … it’s just such a beautiful thing that the female body can do,” she marvelled.

Katherine Ryan has revealed she has kept her placenta from when she gave birth to her daughter in the freezer and is now seeking advice on ways she can use it. 

The comedian welcomed her daughter, Fenna, into the world back in December, making her a mum-of-three. 

Now, Katherine took to her Instagram Stories to ask her 904K followers for ideas on what she can do with her placenta.

Sharing a video of herself holding baby Fenna, she said, “I have yet to consume this baby’s placenta. It’s still in the freezer and I was going to either send it away to be freeze-dried or, I don’t know, use it to plant a tree”.

“But is there anything else I can do with the placenta specifically to cheat time?”, she asked lightheartedly.

Katherine welcomed Fenna into the world with her partner Bobby Koostra. When announcing she has made her arrival, Booby shared a photo of their newborn as well as a snap of Katherine in a birthing pool, to Instagram. 

The proud dad captioned the post, “Fenna Grace Kootstra. Dec 16, at 12:05am. Mom is incredible! Proving her strength repeatedly through the relatively lengthy delivery at home. We are so blessed:)”.

Katherine and Bobby already share a son together named Fred, whom they welcome into the world in June 2021. Katherine also has a teenage daughter, Violet, from a previous relationship.

The Love Island family is growing!

Laura Anderson has revealed that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Gary Lucy.

The 33-year-old Scotswoman, who took part in the 2018 series alongside the likes of Dani Dyer and Megan Barton Hanson, revealed the news of her pregnancy on Instagram earlier today.

Laura shared a video montage of key moments from her pregnancy so far, including footage from a baby scan, the growing of her bump and an adorable baby grow which reads, “The One Where We Become Parents”, as a reference to the TV show Friends.

At the end of her video montage, Laura also teased footage from her little one’s gender reveal, but has kept the result under wraps for now with a black-and-white filter.

The couple have since confirmed that they are expecting to become parents this summer, with Laura due to give birth in August.

Following the reveal of her wonderful news, Laura has received an abundance of love and well-wishes from fellow Love Island alumni.

“Congratulations beautiful,” wrote Faye Winter, who made it to the final of the 2021 series with Teddy Soares. “so happy for you”.

“Congratulations”, added 2019 Love Island star Maura Higgins, alongside several heart-eyes emojis.

“So happy for you darling, the best news ever,” commented winter Love Island contestant Shaughna Phillips, who is also currently expecting her first child.

Laura and 41-year-old actor Gary first confirmed their romance in November of last year, after meeting on the reality dating show Celebs Go Dating. 

Gary is already a father to four children – India (17), Elvis (11), Sadie (7) and Theodore (4) – whom he shares with his ex-wife Natasha Gray.

Gardaí have shared a missing person appeal for a Dublin teenager.

17-year-old Katelyn Comerford was last seen in the Dublin 8 area last week, on Thursday, February 9 at approximately 1pm.

The teenager is known to travel to Dublin city centre and the Balbriggan areas often.

Katelyn is described as being 5 feet 4 inches in height with a slim build. She has brown, shoulder length hair and blue eyes. 

When she was last seen, Katelyn was wearing a grey jumper, grey trousers and a black jacket. 

If anyone has any information on where Katelyn is, they are being asked to contact Kevin Street Garda Station on 01 666 9400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Today marks the launch of ‘The innocent Big Knit’ in a long-standing partnership with Age Action, aiming to give older people a better quality of life in lots of different ways. For the last year, lots of dedicated knitters have sent in their colourful woolly masterpieces that are sitting on top of innocent smoothies right now, adding a splash of colour to shops nationwide. The juiciest part? 30 cent from every behatted smoothie is going straight to Age Action.

The innocent Big Knit’s primary goal is to raise money for Age Action, Ireland's leading advocacy organisation for older people and ageing. Celebrating its 13th year, The Big Knit is continuing to work with Age Action who have led the way in informing and influencing policy as well as providing practical programmes to support older people and empower them to live independently. Age Action offer care and repair services, carrying out minor repairs for older people free of charge (right down to changing a lightbulb), information services around issues facing older people and computer training to combat digital exclusion.

This year, The innocent Big Knit encourages us to celebrate older people in our community and recognise the incredible value they bring in terms of their golden nuggets of wisdom, their wacky and wonderful stories and valuable life lessons that can only be gathered through lived experience. Because of this, innocent is asking everyone to reach out to an older person within their community or that beloved family member today, to learn something new.

New research conducted by innocent to support the campaign found that over 90% of Irish people recognise the importance of intergenerational relationships for our society, while 86% of people say they feel connected to older generations. Older people are at the heart of our families and communities with 80% of Irish people claiming that they would turn to an older person in their life for advice or guidance.

These statistics jar against research carried out by Age Action that shows that the older people within the community are often excluded and forgotten in Ireland with 25% of older people facing age discrimination. To combat this, it’s time we give back to these cherished members of our community by supporting Age Action and maintaining those strong connections with older people.

This year, innocent have knitted in Irish actor behind Father Ted’s legendary Eoin McLove, Patrick McDonnell and food writer Lilly Higgins as brand ambassadors for The innocent Big Knit 2023.

At the launch Patrick McDonnell said ‘I was delighted to be involved in the innocent Big Knit this year. I’ve played many characters over the years but many Irish people still know me for my famous knitted jumpers, so this campaign was right up my street. Partnering up with Age Action again this year, The Big Knit aims to support older people across the country by offering really useful stuff like care and repair services and skill building. To get involved, look out for those colourful little hats in your local shop and pick up an innocent smoothie to support Age Action’.

Food writer Lilly Higgins said “As a crafting fanatic like myself I was delighted when innocent asked me to be part of The innocent Big Knit. We all know how difficult it was for charities to fundraise during the global pandemic so this campaign is a great way for people to get actively involved in improving older people’s lives in a fun and meaningful way. This is the twelfth year of The innocent Big Knit and it’s only gotten bigger and better. Rebel Wilson has opened up about her heartbreaking miscarriage experience before she welcomed her daughter Royce into the world. 

The Pitch Perfect star announced Royce was born via surrogate in November 2022.

While speaking on The Pick Up with Britt, Laura and Mitch, Rebel revealed Royce was not the first attempt at surrogacy she had.

“I was mourning that at the time but then to have a second embryo, it was amazing”.

“I really do think it was a bit of a miracle that it happened. I’d been on quite a bit of the fertility journey for a few years”.

Wilson then spoke about her relationship with Ramona Agruma and having to tell her that she had already started her surrogacy journey before their relationship began.

Rebel told Ramona that she would completely understand if she wanted to end the relationship but instead, Agruma said, “I love you and I’m going to love your baby just the same”.

The Senior Year star also shared an insight into how her daughter is, revealing, “Little Roycie is amazing. She’s such a little angel… She’s so cute. She’s smiling, that’s her latest trick and she makes noises”.

When announcing Royce’s birth back in November, Rebel sweetly said, “I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle! I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are)”.

“This has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care”.

Last week, the High School Musical star finally confirmed her engagement to her beau Cole Tucker. 

Now, the 34-year-old has shared a glimpse into the couple’s adorable engagement party that they recently held.

In honour of Valentine’s Day, Vanessa took to Instagram last night to post a sweet image of herself and baseball player Cole. The snap showcases the happy couple all dressed up, with Vanessa teasing her bridal status by wearing a chic, white silk dress. 

Gold “Mr & Mrs” balloons can be seen sitting behind the betrothed pair, and Vanessa also treated her 48.5M followers to a clear view of her huge engagement ring. 

“Real magnetic love is out there. What a journey it was to get here but so worth it to get to my forever @cotuck,” the Tick, Tick… Boom! actress penned in the caption of her post, before wishing her fiancé a happy Valentine’s Day.

In her comments section, Vanessa has received an abundance of love and well-wishes from several famous faces.

“PERFECTION”, exclaimed Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland, who is one of Vanessa’s best friends.

“LOVE YOU GUYS!!”, wrote Bart Johnson, who is best known for playing Troy Bolton’s father in the High School Musical film franchise. 

“HAPPY VALENTINES DAY BABE!!!!”, added photographer Emilynn Rose. “CONGRATS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!”

“Forever and ever”, Cole himself also sweetly replied, alongside two love hearts.

Vanessa and Cole initially confirmed their engagement last week, by sharing a heartwarming image of the pair embracing each other as Vanessa held up her ring finger.

“YES. We couldn’t be happier”, the couple gushed in their joint caption at the time.

Vanessa and Cole have been together since late 2020, after initially meeting over Zoom during a meditation session. They first went public with their romance in February 2021, 

“It’s wild that we found each other over Zoom,” Vanessa exclaimed during an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show. “I fully just slid into his DMs and was like, ‘Hey, it was nice to meet you.’ So I think there is no shame in making the first move.”

Congratulations are in order for Marc Anthony and his wife Nadia Ferreira as the couple have announced they are expecting their first child together. 

The In The Heights actor shared the news on Valentine’s Day in a joint Instagram post with his model wife by posting a snap of Nadia’s blossoming baby bump with their hands placed on top. 

In the caption of the sweet post they wrote, “Best Valentine's Gift Ever!!!”. Before adding, “Gracias Dios por esta bendición tan grande en nuestras vidas”, in Spanish which translates to, “Thank you God for this big blessing in our lives”.

Many famous faces headed to the comments to congratulate the pair on their exciting announcement including David and Victoria Beckham’s son, Romeo, and singer Prince Royce, who both left red heart emojis under the post. 

The wonderful news comes just over two weeks after the happy couple tied the knot in Miami at the end of January. 

The lavish celebration took place in the Perez Art Museum Miami and celebrity guests included David Beckham and Lin-Manuel Miranda. 

54-year-old Marc and 23-year-old model Nadia, who was crowned Miss Paraguay in 2021, first met through a mutual friend and went on to announce their engagement in May 2022. 

This baby will be Anthony's seventh child and Nadia’s first. The You Sang To Me singer is already dad to 14-year-old twins Emme and Max whom he shares with Jennifer Lopez. 

He also has two children with Dayanara Torres- 22-year-old Cristian Marcus and 19-year-old Ryan Adrian Muñiz. As well as 28-year-old Ariana and 27-year-old Chase with Debbie Rosado.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have declared their love for each other with tattoos. 

This year marks the couple's first Valentine’s Day as a married couple and they celebrated by getting some new ink.

The Hustlers star’s tattoo, located on her ribcage, is of an infinity symbol with an arrow going through it and seems to have the names ‘Jennifer’ and ‘Ben’ written in cursive.

Ben’s new tattoo is of two arrows crossing through one another with the letters ‘J’ placed at the top and ‘B’ at the bottom. 

53-year-old Jennifer captioned the post, “Commitment. Happy Valentine’s Day my love (Look for more deets on VDay coming #OnTheJLo soon…)”.

The On The Floor singer and Gone Girl star tied the knot in Las Vegas in July last year after revealing they were engaged in April.

The pair were originally engaged back in 2002 and were set to get married in 2003 but decided to postpone their wedding. At the beginning of 2004, the pair officially announced their break-up.
