Irish people have a bit of a reputation for our 'ah, it'll be grand attitude'.

However, this attitude may not be the best when it comes to expressing ourselves and our issues.

A project has been set up in London, encouraging women to anonymously share their secrets and know that they are not alone.

Cailíní Secret is an initiative inspired by the work of Frank Warren, who devised the concept of anonymous people revealing a secret they had previously never revealed on a postcard, in 2005.

The project encourages Irish women to create a postcard revealing their deepest secret – which can be absolutely anything – and sending it off the Cailíní Secret offices in London.

The revelation of the secrets is beneficial to those women who feel like they have no one to talk to.

It also benefits the women reading the cards, who may relate to the issues expressed.

2,000 blank postcards were sent to Irish women across London to encourage participation, and the cards will be featured in a book and an exhibition.

"We understand that one of our strengths – our endurance and ability to get on with things without making a fuss – can also be a weakness. In times of unhappiness, distress or life difficulty, many of us conceal our struggles instead of seeking support," Cailíní Secret volunteer Aoife Clements told the Journal

Cailíní Secret hopes to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, and increase awareness and understanding.

What you'll need:

  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 3 tbsp white sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 3 tablespoons lard, softened
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 6 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 20 slices cheddar cheese
  • Tomato soup
  • Milk
  • Butter

What you'll do:

1. In your mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water.

2. Stir in lard, salt and 2 cups of flour.

3. Stir in the remaining flour, a 1/2 a cup at a time, mixing in between adding flour.

4. Mix for approximately 8 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic.

5. Lightly oil a bowl and toss your dough into the oil, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for one hour or until doubled in size.

6. Deflate the dough, and divide it in half on a floured surface.

7. Press them out until they are the size of your square baking pans.

8. Grease the square baking pans and add dough, cover, and let rise for 40 minutes.

9. Bake for 30 minutes at 375°F or until top is golden brown.

10. Let your bread rest until it's cool, and carefully make your giant bread slices on both sides of each loaf.

11. Soften some butter and brush it on one side of your bread.

12. Grill on medium heat, adding as much cheese as you want.

13. Flip after the bottom is golden brown, for approximately 3-5 minutes.

14. Grill the other side until golden brown.

15. Finish in the oven if the cheese hasn't fully melted, to prevent the bread from over grilling.

An Irish coffee is one of the cosiest drinks ever.

When you imagine an Irish coffee, you imagine cuddling up by a big open fire, with the drink in hand and old-school Maroon 5 playing in the background. Bliss.

Well, Oscar-nominated actress Ruth Negga has her own Irish coffee recipe, and we have to say, it's right up our street.

As part of her Oscar special for Vanity Fair, the Best Actress nominee was asked to show off her special talent – and of course, that was making a boozy drink.

We have to say, she did put a good bit of whiskey into the drink, but we're not complaining.

We might just steal the recipe off her.

The Apollo House initiative brought major attention to the homelessness crisis in Dublin, and the Home Sweet Home organisation is continuing to shed light on the issue.

The latest video shared on the Home Sweet Home Facebook page showcases the realities of the services that are in place for homeless people in the capital.

Homeless people in Dublin City are required to ring a free phone number to access a hostel for the night, and the video shows the process.

They are allocated a bed for the night, then have to leave the next morning.

Some homeless individuals interviewed in the short documentary have been waiting for a bed for 11 months.

Former Apollo House volunteers and filmographers Aura McMenamin, Conor Maguire and Sean Fitzgerald put the documentary together, hoping to spread awareness about the "dysfunctional" services.

"The Home Sweet Home media are trying to keep the momentum of Apollo House going," said documentary interviewer Aura McMenamin.

"Simon Coveney and the HSH negotiators laid out seven points during the negotiations to leave Apollo House," continued Aura. "One of them was to ensure minimum standards in homeless hostels. Our video aims to show the poor conditions of Dublin's hostels."

"People recovering from addiction are put into wet hostels with active drugs users. People report violence and theft. On top of this, beds are allocated on a nightly basis and people must vacate the hostel in the morning without a place to stay during the day. Although HSH can't speak for all hostels, this is a recurring problem and prevents homeless people from having a basic quality of life."

"However, what was most interesting to me when deciding on the concept of the video was the difficulty in getting a bed through the Dublin City Council free phone. I had heard stories of apathy or even derision from phone line operators and the despair of being put in a calling queue for hours on end."

"People we interviewed complained about the way they are spoken to by one operator in particular. One woman was told that she couldn't have another sleeping bag (given to people in lieu of a bed) because she had gotten the last one wet after sleeping in the rain," she continued.

"There is a shortage of beds and a shortage of suitable hostels for people's various needs."

"We hope it makes an impact on people's perception of the homeless. Any notion that homeless people get an easy ride or are happily living off the welfare system is ridiculous."

The video has now been viewed thousands of times and shared across various social media platforms.

We pretty much refuse to grow out of our Disney obsession here in Shemazing! HQ.

Between Disney colouring books and bags, to Minnie Mouse heels and make-up, our love for the brand seems to grow deeper everyday.

And what's better than mixing your love of Disney with booze, huh?

These Disney Princess inspired cocktails are magical

A bar in Glasgow honed in on the trend and made a princess-inspired cocktail menu that sounds abso-f*cking-lutely amazing.

Driftwood Bar launched the menu last week, and shared a photo of the fantasy drinks on Facebook.

These Disney Princess inspired cocktails are magical

With names such as the Poison Apple, Under the Sea, and Let it Go, we kinda really want to try them all at once. And at £3.50 (€4.10) a pop, we didn't think a drinks menu could ever look so good.

We want to book a weekend away just to taste these Disney cocktails.

Ashley Graham just proved that she couldn't give less f***s about what anyone thinks of her body.

The model slayed on the cover of Sports Illustrated last year, as the first plus-size woman to be featured on the cover.

Taking to Instagram, the star posted a snap of the cellulite on her upper thigh while she reclined on the beach in a bikini.

"I workout. I do my best to eat well. I love the skin I'm in," she captioned the post.

"And I'm not ashamed of a few lumps, bumps or cellulite.. and you shouldn't be either."

Ashley has been breaking down industry barriers since she arrived on the modelling scene with her body-positive ethos.

2016 was a pretty great year for the model, who was honoured at the Glamour Women of the Year awards for her work as a body-positive activist. She also got her very own Barbie doll and became the first plus-size woman to grace the cover of Vogue

She has also never been afraid to showcase her size 16 curves in skin-tight dresses and bikinis, and has actively spoken out about being body shamed in the past.

"When I post photos showing my cellulite, stretch marks, and rolls, I'm accused of promoting obesity. The cycle of body-shaming needs to end. I'm over it," she told Lenny.

It looks like things are heating up between Selena Gomez and The Weeknd.

The smitten couple travelled over to Italy this week where they enjoyed some sight-seeing around the city.

E! News has reported that they dined in the Trattoria Borgo Antico and then went to various museums and attractions.

An eye witness told the site: "Selena looked so happy and Abel was very chill, very relaxed.

"They held hands as they left and it was very warm, you can tell they are really enjoying each other's company… Selena seems very at ease with him and you can still see the stars in her eyes. They are clearly smitten!"

This comes after they were spotted in Hollywood, holding hands together.

We're looking forward to seeing where this romance goes.

We’re beginning the day with some sad news, following the announcement that legendary British actor John Hurt has died at the age of 77.

The award-winning star had bravely battled pancreatic cancer since 2015, and his passing was confirmed by his agent, Charles McDonald, this morning.

Sir Hurt had a prestigious career in the world of film, winning awards for his roles in The Elephant Man, An Englishman in New York and Midnight Express.

His talent was introduced to an entire new generation in recent years, when he starred as wand-maker Mr Ollivander in the Harry Potter movies.

Sir Hurt spoke candidly about the concept of death and the afterlife during his cancer battle, and remained characteristically optimistic.

“I hope I shall have the courage to say, ‘Vroom! Here we go! Let’s become different molecules!’” he told The Radio Times.

The star is survived by his wife, Anwen Rees-Myers, and sons Alexander and Nick.

Tributes have poured in for the actor following the sad news, with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling leading the way.

“So very sad to hear that the immensely talented and deeply beloved John Hurt has died. My thoughts are with his family and friends,” she tweeted.

We knew it would happen!

On Strictly Come Dancing over in the UK, it's safe to say all eyes are on the singletons to see who will hook up with who. And we have to say, it never disappoints.

But over on our green shores, it seems a new romance is brewing on Dancing with the Stars.

Irish model Thalia Heffernan is reportedly getting close to professional dancer Ryan McShane.

According to the Herald, the 21-year-old was spotted kissing the pro while out on Sunday night together.

A source told the publication: "It's a really young cast among the professional dancers and everyone's up for having a laugh during their time off in Dublin.

A photo posted by Ryan Mc Shane (@ryan_mc_s) on

"Everyone's off on Mondays, so they've started going in to Krystle after the show."

The insider continued: "Everyone noticed that Thalia and Ryan have got close in recent weeks and always have a great laugh together.

"They all had a great night out in Krystle last Sunday, and at one point Thalia and Ryan were seen sharing a kiss in a corner of the club, so it's kind of an open secret now among the cast and crew.

"They're both single and just enjoying each other's company," the source added.

First of, the last thing you think about pairing with wine is… well, salt.

They just wouldn't go together, right? But, one man believes it's the secret to making cheap wine taste better, so we'll hear it out.

In an interview with Wall Street Journal, Nathan Myhrvold, former chief tech officer for Microsoft, revealed that his party trick is adding a pinch of salt to inexpensive vino.

He explained that while he was at a dinner party, he was sitting beside a Winery owner who said she'd wish she made a Cabernet that was less fruity and more savoury.

With that, Nathan dropped a bit of salt into her glass, and they realised it made it taste much better and "pretty soon everyone at the table was doing this," he admitted.

All of our instincts are telling us 'NOOOO!', so we're going to take this advice with a pinch of salt (excuse the awful pun).
