In case you hadn't had a chance to look outside, Ireland is currently experiencing some pretty extreme weather courtesy of Storm Doris.

Met Éireann have issued a status orange weather warning, with most of the country being battered by heavy winds.

ESB are reporting massive power outages, with up to 46,000 homes being affected by faults all over the country due to the storm.

Not only is the storm affecting Ireland's electricity supply but also the transport networks.

Aer Lingus has cancelled 12 flights this morning due to the high winds.

A number of DART services have also been hindered by the storm, as fallen trees and debris on tracks are preventing certain services from operating.

However, according to Met Éireann winds will continue to lessen as the day goes on, as "winds continue to ease and it will be cold and mostly dry in midland and eastern areas with sharp frost."

By tomorrow morning, Storm Doris should have well and truly blown over.

There really wasn't any denying Cheryl's pregnancy at this stage, but at long last, we have some official confirmation.

The Sun has this week published the 'first official bump pic' of the singer, due for publication in tomorrow's paper.

While only the front page has so far been revealed, it says all we need to know: the former Girls Aloud star is truly blossoming as she prepares for impending motherhood.

In the photo, which was reportedly shot as part of a L'Oreal campaign, the 33-year-old is seen cradling her blooming bump, dressed in a simple black dress.

While Cheryl took to social media earlier tonight to confirm that she would not be attending The Brit Awards, her other half did manage to make a surprise appearance.

Former One Direction star and dad-to-be Liam Payne stopped by the ceremony to collect the award for Video of the Year, for the band's mega-hit, History.

While there has been no mention of a due date, sources have claimed that Cheryl and Liam are due to welcome their bundle of joy within 'weeks'.

Sometimes if you live in one place for a long time, you don't really see the beauty of it anymore.

And yes, while many might say Dublin is a Dirty Old Town, it's actually a pretty sweet capital city.

Looking at this video of the city centre in the 70s, we are totally loving the architecture, the groovy style and the vintage cars.

Driving in Dublin in 1976 has already been viewed 370,000 times and was originally used for an RTÉ feature.

One viewer on Youtube said: "This is very interesting. I am glad that someone captured it. It was great to see the old cars, which were driven at that time. I remember most of them. Ireland was a totally different place back then. This was the year that Ireland had a heatwave."

Shop keepers in the US state of Wisconsin are facing possible jail time for selling Kerrygold Butter.

The law, that is 40 years old, means that all butter used for commercial purposes needs to be put before a panel of experts to grade it.

But, because Kerrygold is made in Ireland, it does not go through the same regulatory controls as many products made in the US.

However, according to local news outlet TMJ4, having a high-fat diet (Paleo/Caveman) is popular around that state, and many residents aren't happy about the outdated law.

Jean Smith, who lives in Wisconsin, told reporters that she has to smuggle Kerrygold to her home via cooler bags.

“I feel suspicious. Who are you trying to protect here? Are you protecting the consumers, are you protecting Wisconsin dairies?”

She added: “I want to please ask whoever it is that’s preventing me from getting butter in our stores here to stop it, to stop it.

Anyone who is caught with the glorious butter could face a $500 fine or a jail time of three months. Ouch.

Well, this is one of the most exciting things to (possibly) come to Ireland in a loooong time.

Our green 'ol isle might be getting a Penguinarium!

According to the Connacht Tribune, there are plans to introduce a penguin sanctuary in the Atlantaquarium in Salthill, Co. Galway.

The Atlantaquarium is Ireland's largest native aquarium and is home to more than 170 animals.

As well as that, it has over 60 exhibits and gives visitors the opportunity to hold starfish and touch Irish sharks.

A Galway City councillor said that the Penguinarium would fit in perfectly and would be a place "where penguins could hang out."

We're way too excited about this, lads.

2016 saw a huge surge in models and bloggers spreading body positivity.

Instagram alone has seen fitness gurus and make-up masters bare their natural skin and bodies in hopes to educate young women and girls that everything is not as it seems on social media.

And the latest woman to show off her flaws is British fitness blogger Cary Grays of Busy Bee Fitness fame.

She took to IG last week and shared two photos side-by-side. One snap was a selfie with a full face of make-up, and on the other side showed her without a drop – plus some eczema patchs.

She captioned the photo: "Slight different #REALITYCHECK today!! I have a skin condition called eczema and sometimes my skin is happy as Larry and sometimes it has flare ups.

"Social media/Instagram will show the good days. The good parts of people and their lives and that's ok! That's what social media is for.

"But here's a reminder that next time you see something on social media that you think is 'goals' that it's not the full story, it's not how that person will look or be alllllll the time!"

She continues her post by saying she's still not 100 per cent happy about her skin, but is trying to love herself the way she is.

"I'm still struggling to accept myself on the right, it's a big insecurity of mine and that's fine.

"I'm learning to accept myself knowing that everyone has their own struggles and insecurities and that's what makes us unique and special."

We need to learn and accept that everyone has their flaws, and no matter what we just got to keep doing what we're doing and not let them get in our way.

Cats get a bad wrap, and gals who are only mad about them get an even worse one.

Being labelled a 'crazy cat lady' by your nearest and dearest in public doesn't exactly endear you to strangers because… well… apparently you're a crazy cat lady.

And who needs that drama in their life?

Possessing an innate devotion to felines has its ups and downs, and here are just 13 of them.

1. You never really know where you stand.

That cat could have spent the last two hours purring happily on your lap, but that's not going to stop it clawing the hand off you at a moment's notice.

"You little f**ker!"

2. Defending their narkiness is a full-time job.

Insisting that your cat is just having an off-day when visitors rock up has never fooled anyone.

"No, no, she's normally so friendly! I'm sorry, she must be feeling a bit depressed today."

3. You secretly fear your cat only likes you so it can get food.

While you might bask in the moment they wrap their body around your legs before skedaddling over to their food dish, you do question their motives.

"If I missed one damn meal, I'd never see them again. Better overfill that bowl."

4. You have on more than one occasion pretended to be dead in order to see if they would care.

They didn't.

"Pssst, I'm dead over here. Hello?"

5. You have grossed yourself out by looking in their ears.

You know you're not going to like what you see, but sometimes you can't resist having a good gawp.

"Jaysus, it looks like a load of miniature brains."

6. You have cheered yourself up by playing with the pads of their paws.

Tracing your finger over those spongy little feet is an instant pick-me-up.

"Touch it! Oh my God, would you look at this angel!"

7. You have questioned whether your house smells like cat pee.

Randomly sniffing the air to see if your cat has made a holy show of you is par for the course.

"Do you smell cat p*iss? Oh my God, you do, don't you?"

8. You feel secretly super upset when your friends chat about pets, and yours doesn't even get an honourable mention.

When you find yourself insisting someone compliment your cat, you know you have a problem.

"Maybe if you actually made an effort with her, you'd see how amazing she is."

9. You get a pang of jealously when you hear about pet dogs rescuing their families from burning buildings.

Insisting that the media has a bias towards dogs is one of your go-to drunk rants.

"Although to be fair, Fluffy would have probably set the fire. Hic"

10. The sound of your cat caterwauling at night is enough to make you want to move house.

Living in fear that your neighbours will think you've raised a sex-crazed feline keeps you awake at night.

"For Jaysus sake, can he not keep it down? Making a holy show of us."

11. Enduring a prolonged yawn from your cat after their dinner is enough to make you dry-heave.

You're super glad they're having a chill time and totally glad they're close enough to nuzzle noses with you, but that breath is like the portal to hell.

"Does mouthwash for pets exist?"

12. You still struggle to understand why your cat feels the need to present their arse to you on a regular basis.

When they turn around and happily raise their tail, you do wonder why you're so devoted to them.

"No please, don't make me look."

13. You get a massive pang of pride when you watch them clean up after doing their business.

The way they dig that hole in their secret corner of the garden and then cover up their business with loose soil is definitely something to write home about.

"You wouldn't see Rover next door at that craic."

As Dublin City Council make way for a car-free College Green, it is also planning to introduce extra bus lanes on the North Quays.

The proposals will see a reduction in car access to the area.

With consultations taking place next week, the council plan to make two lanes on Ormond Quay and Bachelors Walk for buses, while one lane will solely be dedicated to cars.

This means cars will not be able to turn right at Bachelors Walk onto O'Connell Bridge, which will cause a bit of upset with road users. They also plan to ban cars going onto Eden Quay.

To get to the south side drivers would have to take a loop up O'Connell St and around Parnell St or turn right at Capel St Bridge.

According to RTÉ, the plans do not need approval from councillors and these changes could take place as soon as this summer.

OK, so you were finally called for an interview; your CV is perfect, you're dressed nicely and now, it's time to impress.

You've researched the company and the person who is going to interview you – you're all set, right?

While you may think so, some employers like to throw curve balls and ask questions that don't necessarily have anything to do with the job in question.

So, instead of panicking and cracking an abominable joke, top recruitment agency, Glassdoor, used its data base to find the hardest questions you might face in an interview.

Be prepared, ladies:

  • “What on your CV is the closest thing to a lie?” – Marketing and Communications Employee, The Phoenix Partnership

  • “How would your enemy describe you?” – Advertising Sales Grad Scheme, Condé Nast

  • “What's the most selfish thing you've ever done?” – Graduate Consultant, PageGroup

  • “If your best friend was here what advice would he give you?” – CCP, American Express

  • “Describe your biggest weakness. Then describe another.” – Forward Deployed Software Engineer, Palantir Technologies

  • “How do you cope with repetition?” – Product Specialist, Tesla Motors

  • “Who is your hero, and why?” – Product Quality Employee, GE

Growing up in an Irish housing estate had many pleasures.

Everything was close to you, there were bus stops and shops just around the corner… but then, there were the rival estates too and God forbid they stepped on your turf.

Here, we look at ten memories you'll have if you grew up in an Irish housing estate:

1. The green was where errrr'thang went down

From when you were small to when you grew into a young teen, everything happened on the green. Drama, drama, drama.

And if there was more than one green in your estate, you definitely had a preference… that was, before some other group came along and took it…

2. Rival estates

Odds are, there was at least one other estate close by to yours, and it caused fierce rivalry.

So much so, you wouldn't even look at them when they passed you in the school hall… and if the lads took a fancy to the other group, well… let's just say there was war.

3. All your BFFs literally lived two houses away

Drive to your best friend's gaff? What a notion. We were all next door neighbours and had plans to make secret passages in the walls so all our houses connected.

It came with its down points too though, because with just one glance out the window, you knew all your neighbours' business.

4. Texting? What is this sorcery?!

Because you were all so close together, there was no need for texting to see if your mates wanted to go out.

'Coming out to play?' in the early years followed with 'Wanna hang out on the green?' in your teen years.

5. The shop

There was always a half decent shop a few minutes away from your estate.

BUT, you had to cross a main road to get to it and as if your mammy would let you (you did it anyway).

6. Tip the can

We played this for hours on end, every single day. How we all didn't get bored of it, we don't know…

It was replaced by water fights in the summer months though… and hell, were they fun.

7. The ice cream van

The minute you heard Teddy Bear's Picnic blaring from the ice cream van, kids ran in every direction and plagued parents to give them €2 so they could get a Screwball.

And once €2 was firmly in hand, there was chaos to make it back to the ice cream van in time.

8. Walls

For some reason, the lads in the estate were obsessed with walls. They climbed them, bashed balls against them, hopped them to get out of the estate quicker.

However, whenever we attempted to climb the wall, we were shouted at by the… older generations of the estate…

9. Hiding places

You roamed around the estate since you were a small child, so you definitely had a good hiding place or two.

Whether it was behind the beloved walls, or in the corner of the green; it was your den and nobody could take it away from you.

10. Kiss, kiss

If you didn't have your first kiss in the local GAA disco, then you definitely had it in your estate.

Saying that, you probably had many a kiss in your hiding place throughout the years.

Women who haven't been on the receiving end of catcalls are few and far between, and it's safe to say the widely-spread phenomenon is utterly reviled in most societies.

And yet that doesn't stop people engaging in the despicable act on a daily basis.

So, it's no surprise that footage which showed a catcaller getting his just desserts this week has taken social media by storm.

Filmed by a motorcyclist, a female cyclist can be seen fending off sexist remarks and unwanted leers from a man in the passenger seat of a white van who she happened to stop beside in traffic.

After enduring an intense exchange with a stranger, the lights changed and the cyclist was in a position to follow the van until it stopped again moments later.

And we'll let our new idol take it from here…
