Next week is the national Week Against Child Prostitution in the Netherlands, and to mark the seven-day fundraising event, relief organisation Free A Girl have released a shocking video which gives insight into the realities of child prostitution.

Free a Girl is dedicated to freeing young girls from forced prostitution and prosecuting the offenders, and the organisation has saved 3,802 girls from brothels in Asia.

The terrible footage was designed to showcase the fact that child prostitution is happening in our world, and that something must be done to stop it.

A word of warning, as this video is extremely disturbing, and includes real footage of a child being groomed, sold and exploited for sexual abuse.

The child, aged seven, is being sold by an unknown female to a man for sex for $40.00.

The video opens with a series of anonymous children from the Netherlands, who open boxes to find sex toys within them.

The children show their innocence by guessing what the sex aids are for, with guesses such as hair curlers and rolling pins proving popular.

The stark contrast between these children and the little girl shown in the real footage is heartbreakingly clear.

These exceptional acts will also be joined by Jonjo Jury, Donal Dineen, DJ Deece, Arveene and many more.

Those partying it up, Midsommar style, will also be riveted by the acrobatic aerial performances by Loosysmokes.

The Absolute Midsommar stage is set to be oh-so Instagram-worthy, with a kaleidoscopic Midsommar maypole and flower crows abound.

'Every year the Absolut stage is a hub of creativity, colour and good vibrations – this year will be no different,' said Absolut’s Stage Curator DJ Arveene.

'Absolut’s ethos is firmly rooted in imaginative collaborations and I’m proud that we’re bringing together so many talented people to create an unforgettable Absolut experience at Body & Soul.'

'We’ve so many great acts lined-up to perform, it’s set to be another incredible weekend – the perfect celebration of Absolut Midsommar'

While the musical line-up sounds completely lit, the beverages on offer also sound pretty divine.

After a spring that was saturated in gin, we're dying to dabble in some vodka cocktails, created by Absolut’s mixologists.

The festival will introduce the Absolut Midsommar Solstice, a delicious-sounding mix that's made using Absolut Raspberry and lemon lime soda.

The thought of dancing under a maypole with a drink in hand and a flower crown on our heads is making us long for festival season.

There have been plenty of dangerous body 'trends' that have emerged in recent years.

These trends, such as the thigh gap, bikini bridge and ab crack, are used by some people as a marker of diet and exercise success, but for some, the pursuit of these attributes (which are completely un-obtainable for some, depending on body type) can lead to a dangerous diet and exercise attitude.

A new trend is emerging, which has been coined by The Daily Mail as 'ribcage bragging.'

A post shared by Bella Hadid (@bellahadid) on

The popularisation of the term has been blamed on celebrities like Bella Hadid, Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner.

These women all have visible rib cages when posing perfectly in bikinis, looking glamorous and elegant, which could lead those who are susceptible to body envy to wishing for a prominent rib cage themselves.

A post shared by Kendall (@kendalljenner) on

Like most of these 'thinspirational' concepts, a visible ribcage isn't necessarily a reality for everyone, and could promote a visible ribcage as an unachievable accolade to people susceptible to low body confidence.

Others think that this is officially 'the stupidest' marker of a desirable body ever, because some can simply suck in the stomachs and take a deep breath to reveal their ribs.

Luckily, most Twitter users agree with us in thinking that this 'body trend' is completely ludicrous.

'Ribcage bragging – showing the bones of your ribs is trending on Instagram. This is not healthy and celebrities need to stop this craze,' said one.

Others are enraged by the concept of a ribcage being a trend, as some slim women have visible ribs without trying to conform to the latest Instagram fad.

Bella Hadid has previously faced criticism for her slim figure and visible ribs, and has been accused of glamorising a low weight.

'Your ribs. Eat. Dangerous role model for young girls looking at you as an idol,' said one critic.

The trending fad is seen as potentially dangerous, and much like the thigh gap and the bikini bridge, it could prompt disordered eating or dangerous exercising habits in those racing to achieve one.

It's almost that time of year again!

Nope, not summer, it's Big Brother season.

This year, the veteran reality TV show is taking a more political turn, selecting guests who will give an 'alternative' view of Britain.

'At a time of political upheaval and tough questions about unity in the UK, Big Brother brings you an alternative look at Britain,' a spokesperson told Digital Spy.

'Summer of contrasts, conflicts and collaborations and more fireworks than you could imagine, as a selection of people, from a range of backgrounds, come together in the ultimate social experiment.'

'The United Kingdom of Big Brother… and everyone is welcome.'

It sounds like it's going to be a pretty explosive series to say the least.

The new season starts on Channel 5 next month.

The internet was going crazy yesterday after rumours broke that Hozier and Saoirse Ronan have struck up a romantic relationship.

Reports alleged that the pair have been enjoying a 'secret string of dates' around Dublin, but according to a pal of the singer, this simply isn't true.

'Saoirse and Hozier are good friends, but they are definitely not a couple,' a source reportedly told Goss.

'I think people really wanted it to be true, but they aren't dating,'

The pair of Irish talents were seen hanging out together after Saoirse shot scenes for Ed Sheeran's Galway Girl video, but if the source is to be believed, then it was just as friends.

They have previously worked together on Hozier's music video Cherry Wine

Both Saoirse and Hozier are quite private about their romantic lives, with neither the actress nor the Take Me To Church singer confirming or denying the relationship.

According to recent reports, Liam recruited hit-maker, Ed Sheeran to co-write the track.

Earlier today, legislation that will pave the way for supervised injection centres in Ireland was approved by the Seanad.

It is hoped that the facilities will provide a controlled and sterile environment where drug user can inject without the threat of prosecution.

Users will have access to clean injection equipment and advice on treatment and rehabilitation.

Trained staff will also be on hand to provide assistance in the event of an accidental overdose.

Speaking to the Seanad, Drugs Minister, Catherine Byrne said the centres will give hope to those struggling with addiction.

"I believe those words are very important regarding the service that we are going to provide, into the future for people who inject on a daily basis.

"It's to give them hope, to open doors, but above all I believe to give them the opportunity to be able to come into a service that sees them as human beings, and will help them in their addiction into recovery as well," she said.

Senator Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, who lobbied for the move during his time as Drugs Minister, welcomed the news on Twitter.

The bill has been sent to President, Micheal D. Higgins, to be signed into law.

As part of a collaboration known as The Textile Project, students from the National College of Art and Design have seen their creations hit the shelves of Ireland's most luxurious department store this week.

Tasked with creating beautiful, colourful and printed fabrics, twenty students from the college rose to the challenge, with two of the patterns ultimately used to create a limited edition silk scarf and candle wrap.

The scarf has been produced in Ireland by CREATE alumni Sara O’Neill while the exclusive wrap decorates a White Pomegranate scented candle which has been produced by Max Benjamin in Enniskerry.

Inspired by everything from the distillers press in the NCAD to the changing profile of the Dublin skyline, the students also saw their prints adorn the iconic Brown Thomas shopping bag.

Truly impressed by the students' creations, John Redmond, the Creative Director of the Brown Thomas said: "The brief was to work with the 2nd year students to embrace colour, pattern and textures in their design and we feel the work that the students have delivered has far exceeded all our expectations."

"What’s really exciting about this, collaboration is that we have developed two products that will be sold instore – a limited edition candle and silk scarf using these beautiful vibrant prints!”

"This project provides an opportunity to showcase the creativity, innovation and skills that NCAD students acquire and develop during their studies," added Angela Kelly, Head of Design for Body and Environment at NCAD.

The products are on sale until stock lasts and the exhibition runs until June 14, so if you want to support Ireland's next generation of designers, you know what to do!

The gender pay gap is one of the very last frontiers to expose in Ireland to create true equality between the sexes.

A submission from the Irish Women's Council of Ireland found that on average, childless women earn 17 per cent less than men, while working mothers earn 14 per cent less than their male counterparts.

The Irish Government intends to introduce gender pay gap wage surveys for companies with 50 or more employees.

In the National Strategy for Women and Girls 2017-2020, the Government made a commitment to report the results of to intends to publish the results of such surveys, to get a clear picture of the wage gap landscape in this country.

'A series of measures are proposed to address the gender pay gap,' reads the National Strategy for Women and Girls.

'These will include the introduction of wage surveys to be undertaken by companies with more than 50 employees and the development of practical tools to enable companies to calculate and to address the gender pay gap'

The IMPACT Trade Union has been working tirelessly to amplify awareness of the pay gap in Ireland, and previously developed a highly intuitive #ClockedOut campaign to address the 71 minutes per day that women are essentially working for free compared to their male counterparts.

'It’s great to see that the new National Women’s Strategy has committed to the principle of gender pay gap reporting,' said IMPACT spokesperson Lughan Deane

'This is a major breakthrough in the campaign for gender pay equality in Ireland. IMPACT is proud to have played a role in that campaign.'

A Labour Party gender pay gap reporting Bill will be introduced in the Senate later this month.
