Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated Dunkirk will hit Irish cinemas this Friday, July 21.

The critically acclaimed WWII drama features a stellar cast including Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh and of course, acting novice, Harry Styles.

The decision to cast the former One Direction member certainly raised a few eyebrows, however, the film's direction previously defended the move.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Christopher said: “As a director, I have to trust my instincts, my ability to figure out who's the right guy for the part. I'm not too worried about baggage.”

Harry plays the role of Alex, a junior soldiers trying to get home as the enemy forces close in, but it has now emerged that he had no idea what role he was reading for when he auditioned.

The Sign of the Times singer told the Press Association:  “We auditioned together and I was sitting in a cold, lonely room and Fionn came in from a set of something he was working on and there was one other person in there.”

“You had no idea what part you were auditioning for. We didn’t know how many parts there were and they kind of round robin-ed us a little bit, so we did everyone with everyone.”

Harry also admitted that his first day on set with Christopher Nolan was “pretty overwhelming.”

He added: “I think as much as you can imagine what something like that is going to look like, people don’t make that.”

“I don’t know in what other situation someone gets to do what he did so he was pretty amazing to be around.”

“At times the tide would go out and you could see ruins of some of the old boats that were out there and it was moments like that when everyone was aware of how special the place that we were was.”

Unfortunately, it looks like Harry's highly anticipated acting debut could also be the last time we see him on screen.

When asked if he would consider acting again, the star replied, “I might be one and done. I think I’m one and done, to be honest. I think so.”

Dunkirk is released in Irish cinemas on July 21.

Ed Sheeran made his much anticipated Game of Thrones cameo in the first episode of the seventh series  – and naturally, Twitter went into meltdown.

As we all know, Ed is an extremely talented singer-songwriter, so it was only fitting that he gave us a little tune during his short appearance on screen.

The 26-year-old was dressed as a solider and was singing around a campfire when Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, rode through a forest on horseback.

“It’s a pretty song, I’ve never heard it before,” Arya said.

Ed's unnamed character replied, “It’s a new one.”

Masie also just so happens to be a huge Ed Sheeran fan, and according to reports, producers had been keen to get the singer on board as a surprise for the actress.

Although Ed's appearance was confirmed by the show’s creators David Benioff and DB Weiss, fans did not know what episode. Needless to say everyone was a little shook when he popped up on screen.

The Shape of You singer also took to Instagram to celebrate his cameo performance.

One Galway nightclub has been praised for its new cloakroom policy that allows you to trade your killer heels for some ballet flats when all that dancing takes its toll.

DNA (formerly known as Karma), unveiled the new service on the clubs official Facebook page yesterday, and it proved to be a popular move.

The post reads: “Ladies, when your heels become too much, check them into the cloakroom quoting your shoe size and we will swap them out for a pair of new flats while we mind your heels for the night. Dancing…it's in our dna!”

One user commented, “I need this in my life”, and honestly, we couldn't agree more.

The ballet flats are available to purchase from the cloakroom for just €5.00, and they'll even mind your heels until you're ready to go home.

Bye-bye blisters and hello painless walks to the taxi rank.

We just hope more clubs will follow suit.

We can all agree that Wimbledon is one if the last places you'd expect to find boisterous spectators – but alas, there's always one.

In what proved to be one of the competitions most hilarious moments yet, one fan by the name of Chris Quinn got what was coming to him after he shouted advice from the stands to four-time Grand Slam winner, Kim Cjisters.

However, rather that let this man throw her off her game, she decided to invite him onto the court so he could show the world his skills.

In an effort to set the scene, Kim even offered Chris her spare white skirt, which he somehow managed to sqeeze into as the crowds and commentators looked on with bemusement.

Perhaps even more remarkably, he actually managed to return her serve.

Unfortunately his second shot was not as successful, proving he was all talk and no walk.

Chris got a quick photo with the players before returning to his seat and letting the match recommence.

It's not something you'll see at every Wimbledon, that's for sure.

One commentator said "this is so so much against the rules," but hey, it was all in good fun!

The human race is full to the brim with weird and wonderful people, each one different from the next and yet, through all our differences shines one common desire – we all want to be happy.

And while you might think happiness lies at the bottom of an over-flowing Penneys bag  – the answer is actually far better for your bank account.

A recent study has found that using your cash to buy presents for you friends and family will actually make you feel better in the long run.

During the experiment, participants were split into two groups. The first were were told do splash out on something nice for themselves, while the second were told to spend their money on something for someone else.

Interestingly, the selfless group proved to be the happier participants.

According to the study, areas of their brains gave off a “warm glow” when they completed their good deed.

What's more, the scale of the generosity made no difference to people's happiness, meaning that even the smallest act of kindness could produce the same effect.

Lead researcher, Philippe Tobler said, “You don't need to become a self-sacrificing martyr to feel happier. Just being a little more generous will suffice.”

So, next time you're in need of a little pick-me-up, surprise your pals with a little treat – Everybody wins!

A Garda Superintendent has today warned that festival-goers should except additional security measures at events throughout the year.

The statement comes on the last day of the Longitude music festival in Marlay park and Gardaí are reminding people to be patient when entering the grounds.

Huge queues on the opening day of the festival saw many people complain of being crushed and fainting after they were left waiting for over a hour.

Superintendent Peter Duff says people can expect to see increased safety measures at all public events.

"We in An Garda Síochána, particularly this year, have taken increased steps to ensure the safety of patrons attending concerts, matches etc.," he said.

"That's my primary concern is make sure that everyone gets in here, enjoys the concert, and goes home safely."

The heightened security measures come after a series of terror incidents in the UK which saw attackers target an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

So, the guys over at Bad Lip Reading are famous for putting hilarious spins on some of the best moments in popular culture and they have truly knocked it out of the park with their latest instalment.

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather made headlines around the world this week as they battled in out in a number press conferences ahead of their mega money fight next month.

From Conor's pinstripe suit, to accusations of racism, their meetings have been filled with a host of bizarre and often cringe-worthy moments.

And after a week full of nonsensical ramblings from the pair, a parody video has emerged to breath new life into the situation.

Take a look.

The video posted on the Bad Lip Reading Youtube channel racked up almost three million views in just 48 hours – and it's not hard to see way.

Using footage from the Toronto press conference, the BLR crew did what they do best and dubbed over the clip with complete an utter gibberish – which to be honest, probably wasn't too far from the original conversation.

We don't reckon either party will be too impressed, but hey, at least we got a laugh out of it.

Earlier this week, Donald Trump travelled to Paris where he met with French President, Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte.

After sharing a handshake with France's first lady, Trump began to compliment her “physical shape” and things got really awkward

"You're in such good shape. She's in such good physical shape. Beautiful," Trump said.

Of course, the inappropriate comments sparked a huge amount of backlash online, with Reebok even stepping in to school the President on how to speak to women.

The sportswear brand compiled a simple guide to help Trump realise the appropriate time to tell a woman: “You’re in such good shape… beautiful.”

As expected, the answer was never, except if you had just found “a forgotten action figure from your youth, unscathed after decades, in your parents’ basement”.

While Trump supporters denounced Reebok’s post, many Twitter users appreciated the sarcastic manner in which the company replied to the comments and the post has since received over 47,000 likes.

It's official!

Will Smith will play Genie in the upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin and we can't think of a better man for the job..

Disney made the announcement at the D23 Expo on Saturday, confirming previous rumours the Will Smith would follow in Robin Williams' footsteps for Guy Ritchie's adaptation.

It was also announced that Naomi Scott will play the part of Princess Jasmine, while newcomer, Mena Massoud will take on the coveted role of Aladdin himself.

Massoud, who was born in Egypt and raised in Canada, is part of the cast of Amazon's Jack Ryan series starring John Krasinski, while Naomi is a British actress and singer whose mother is from northern India, and has appeared in the film The 33 and the Fox series Terra Nova

Aladdin is the latest in a string of Disney classics to be given a live-action make over, with films like Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book already having proved to be box office hits.

The original animated classic was the highest grossing film of the year in 1992 and even won awards for Best Score and Best Song with A Whole New World.

The remake is set to begin shooting in London some time this year, and if the cast so far is anything to go by, it looks like we're in for something really special.
