Two men, believed to be on their way to carry out a gang-related shooting were have arrested by Gardaí in Dublin last night.

The men were in possession of a loaded fire arm and a can of petrol when the van they were travelling in was stopped by armed officers on the Kylemore Road in Ballyfermot between 7.30pm and 8pm yesterday evening in what is understood to have been an intelligence-led operation.

The suspects, aged 34 and 38, are being detained at Crumlin Garda Station on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, where they can be questioned for up to one week.

It's understood that the foiled shooting was not feud related, but rather part of what Gardaí describe as the regular internal operations of an organised crime gang.

Investigations are ongoing.

An investigation is underway after a British model was allegedly kidnapped and detained for six days in Italy while her captors attempted to sell her in an auction on the dark web.

One suspect has been arrested, British-resident, Pole Lukasz Pawel Herba, however Italian police have confirmed they are on the hunt for at least one other man.

Chloe Ayling, a 20-year-old mother of one, claims she was attacked by two men after travelling to Milan for work last month.

She told authorities that she was put in a bag and transported to a cabin in a remote town in the Italian Alps after arriving at what turned out to be a set-up photoshoot.

According to Italian media, the model said she saw two men and was aware of three more, but never saw their faces.

“A person wearing black gloves came up from behind and put one hand on my neck and the other on my mouth, while a second person, wearing a black balaclava, injected me in my right arm,” she said in a statement to police, which was published by Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

“I think I passed out because when I woke up I only had on my pink chenille bodysuit and socks and I realised I was in the boot of a car, bound at the ankle and wrists with my mouth taped up. I was in a luggage bag with only a small gap to breathe through.”

While many details of the incident remain unclear, police have confirmed that Chloe was injected with the ketamine and said they believe Herba may have been capable of causing her serious harm.

On July 17, six days after Chloe's ordeal began, she was released and driven back to Milan.

She told The Telegraph that her kidnapper said she was being released because she was the mother of a young child.

Investigations in the case are ongoing in Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom.

Earlier this year, Modern Family fans were delighted by the news that the hit sitcom had been given the go-ahead for two more series – however, it looks like that's all we'll we getting.

That's right, prepare to say goodbye to Phil's epic one liners and Manny's pockets of wisdom as the heart-warming comedy looks sets to end with the show's creators hinting that season 10 will be the last.

The beloved ABC show first hit our screens back in September 2009, and while the creator's original intention was to keep the show on air for as long as possible, they have now revealed that they are begining to play around with ideas as to how the story will come to an end.

Speaking to Deadline, co-creator Steve Levitan said: “Our original goal was to just stay on the air.”

“But after awhile we thought we may be in control [of] our own fate, and 10 sounded like a nice round number.”

When asked how the Modern Family will end, he said: "We haven’t had that exact conversation yet how we want to end the show episode-wise, those discussions will start in earnest as the writers start mapping out the second part of the current ninth season. We’ve talked about areas that we want to go and tonally what we want to do."

It's not yet clear how exactly the Emmy award winning series will conclude but creators have admitted that they want to finish the way they began – with a big family event.

For those of you not familiar with the Bechdel test, it's basically a formula that examines whether or not women have significant speaking roles in a film.

It asks whether the script features at least two named female characters who talk to each other about something other than a man – a requirement just 50 per cent of films meet.

And if that wasn't enough to get your feminist blood boiling, new research has revealed that female actresses have considerably fewer lines than men. In fact, it's thought that male characters speak about 70 per cent of the total dialogue.

The study, conducted by USC, analysed 1,000 film scripts and discovered a few home truths about gender equality in Hollywood.

When it came to those behind the scenes, researchers found that there were seven times more male writers than female, and 12 times more male directors.

This pattern continued on screen as well, with 4,900 male characters, and just 2,000 female characters featured across all scripts.

What's more, female characters were often about five years younger than their make co-stars.

The study read: “Overall, researchers found that female characters tend to be more positive in valence, meaning they are more positive but this tended to be correlated with using language connecting with family values.

“Beyond the volume of dialogue attributed to men, male dialogue contained more words related to achievement, death and more swear words than the dialogue scripted for women.”

Unsurprisingly, the study also found that having more female writers in the rooms resulted in a 50 per cent increase in female representation, but with seven times more male writers in the industry, it seems the gender equality issues spans across every sector.

Meet Billy.

Billy is a Korean YouTube sensation whose unique interest in all things British and Irish has earned him quite the following over in this part of the world.

His channel is packed with tutorials on how to master accents from across the UK and Ireland, and for the most part, they're actually pretty spot on.

However, we're not sure we can say the same for his latest effort.

On Sunday, Billy uploaded his latest tutorial – and it's sure to give Dubliners a bit of a laugh.

The 25-year-old student spent six months studying in the UK, and it looks like he could have made a few Irish pals along the way.

From what we can tell, the Seoul native actually has a pretty decent grasp of Dublinese his explanation of words like 'craic', 'deadly' and 'banjoed', and while his accent skills leave much to be desired, we're willing to let that go.

A Muslim beauty queen competing in the Miss Universe Great Britain pageant has made history this week by becoming the first woman to wear a kaftan during the competition's bikini section.

Pageant officials agreed that Muna Jama could “wear a cover-up if she chose” after she insisted she would not compete in a swimsuit.

According to the Metro newspaper, the 27-year-old said: “I wouldn’t wear a bikini to a beach, so I’m not going to wear one in a competition to score points.”

Instead, Muna walked in a long brightly-coloured kaftan, a statement choker and some killer hoops earrings – and basically put all the other contestants to shame while doing it.

It takes bravery, emotional resilience and most importantly surrounding yourself with strong minded people who are prepared to make great sacrifices to welcome permanent and positive change. I may not be able to unwrite a moment in my life but I know a moment will never define me. I will always rise above your expectations and pushed past your limitations. You are what you say you are, and your imaginations can be your worst enemy unless you overcome your fears. Be careful of what you think of others because it's a reflection of what you are. Work at being a better person, and one day we can welcome a better World. . . This moment has proved that I am capable of almost anything I set my mind to and limitations is a status waiting to be changed. I thank everyone who stood beside me and believed in my vision.  . . #missuniverse #mugb2017 #missuniversegb #fear #migrant #refugee #positive #change #love #modelling #friends #family #girls #pageant #empowerment #inspiration #inspire #aspire #history #munajama #caftan #kaftan #stage #london #dubai #love #indonesia #malaysia @missuniversegb Photographer @leedarephotography

“I thank everyone who stood beside me and believed in my vision.”

And as if Muna wasn't enough of a boss a** b**ch, she is also the co-founder of the start-up, Cloudless Research, an organisation set up the address the issues of child abuse and illegal migration.

“We aim to reduce the number of victims channelling the Mediterranean Sea through education and encouraging new legislations in the country of origin.”

Basically she is an absolute queen and even though she didn't win the qualifier to the Miss Universe competition, she has definitely made her mark on the pageant industry.

So, online clothes shopping is a super convenient way to stay on trend when you simply don't have the time to tackle the high street.

However, returning ill-fitting items can be extremely frustrating – especially when the process gets delayed.

One ASOS customer who recently suffered this minor annoyance is Stephen Cannon, from Workington, England.

Stephen got in touch with the online retailer to inform them that his product exchange had been delayed – but this was no ordinary compliant.

Determined to create some fun from the situation, he wrote his message in the style of Eminem hit, Stan, and oh boy, are you in for a treat.

The good folks over at ASOS even took the joke one step further, giving Stephen a perfectly lyrical, yet professional response.

Stephen then shared the exchange in Facebook, and for that, we are forever grateful.

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have announced their decision to legally separate after eight years of marriage.

The beloved Hollywood couple posted a joint statement on social media in which they revealed that had “tried hard for a long time.”

The pair, who have one four-year-old son together, have requested that their privacy be respected at this time.

“Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”

The actors met on the set of Take Me Home Tonight back in 2007. They got engaged the following year and eventually wed at a ceremony in Bali on July 9, 2009.

It's thought that the pair's busy work schedules could have put a strain on their relationship.

Anna is currently shooting the fifth season of her hit CBS sitcom, Mom, while Chris has spent most of the summer in the UK and Hawaii shooting Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Earlier this year, Chris told the Associated Press how the couple balance work while making time for each other: “For the first part of our relationship, we put our careers at the top.

“We were like, ‘Honey, if you get a job and you have to go to Istanbul for six months, you’re going. I’ll help you pack. I’ll Skype with you every day. You’re living your dream, I’m living my dream. That’s what we do.'”

The news of the couple's split was met with sadness as many fans took to social media to express their disbelief and offer their love and support at this difficult time.
