It's official! 97 per cent of Irish adults agree that laughter is the best form of medicine.

To mark the start of One4all's Shop4Crumlin week in aid of the CMRF Giggle Fund, the gift card company conducted a piece of research that reveals the importance of laughter when it comes to our health and wellbeing.

One4all asked 532 Irish adults all about what makes them happy and the results are enough to put a smile on anyone's face.

When asked about the most important things in life, 37 per cent of Irish adults believe your health is your wealth, while love (26 per cent) and laughter (19 per cent) are the other key ingredients for a fulfilling and happy life.

Just under one third of those surveyed also said that children were undoubtedly the greatest source of laughter on a daily basis.

100 per cent of respondents agreed that laughing makes them feel good while a massive 98 per cent believe it can relieve stress.

However, it's not all about our own giggles as 95 per cent said they take great joy from making others laugh and with 2 in 3 Irish adult admitting that they think they're funny, there's a lot of joy up for grabs.

Rachel Kenna, Director of Nursing at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, explains how important bringing laughter and fun into the lives of little patients can be: “More than 130,000 children a year, from every county in Ireland, attend Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin."

"The Giggle Fund aims to give children the extra surprise during their stay in hospital through the supply of birthday parties, Christmas parties, pizza nights, movie nights, toys and more and we are extremely grateful to One4all and CMRF Crumlin for their ongoing support.”

What's more, the survey revealed that 83 per cent of Irish adults think they are big kids at heart with 86 per cent admitting that children's TV shows still make them laugh.

Witty (34%), sarcastic (23%) and playful (22%) are the ways in which Irish adults would best describe their own sense of humour, with surprisingly only 5% admitting to being self-deprecating (something us Irish are supposedly famous for).

Dara O’Briain was voted Ireland’s funniest comedian with 21% of the vote, followed by Brendan O’Carroll (18%) and Tommy Tiernan (17%). Of Ireland’s funniest influencers, Baz Ashmawy topped the poll (29%), followed by Doireann Garrihy (16%) and Holly Carpenter (11%).

Commenting on the survey findings, group marketing manager for One4all Ireland Aoife Davey said:

"There’s not a person among us who doesn’t enjoy laughing and often we take for granted just how much it contributes to our overall wellbeing. At One4all, we are always committed to bringing joy and happiness into people’s lives and we are especially proud to continue our work with CMRF Crumlin and helping to bring smiles to the faces of their little patients."

Taking place from July 22nd – July 30th 2017, the campaign will raise money for The Giggle Fund – a fund dedicated to brightening the little lives of patients in the children’s hospital and bringing a smile to their faces.

One4all gift card holders simply need to spend their gift cards in any of One4all’s 8,000 retailers nationwide or online during Shop4Crumlin week and .50c will be donated to CMRF Crumlin and The Giggle Fund on every single transaction.

Stop. Everything.

Domino's have teamed up with Amazon's cloud based service, Alexa, in a move that will enable users to order their favourite pizza by simply speaking to the device.

The technology will allow pizza-lovers to track the exact location of their order via GPS, making it easier than ever to get your hands on your Friday-night favourite.

Here's how it's done:

1. Set up an account on the Domino's website

2. Enable the Domino’s skill via the Alexa app

3. Link Domino’s with your Alexa account

While the Alexa might not be common place in every households (yet), and it's not yet known how many Irish stores will participate, we're still excited for future possibilities.

The pizza-giant have already been hard at work trying to make our the ordering process as painless as possibly with the introduction of apps and Facebook Messenger bots.

So, surely it's only a matter of time before we merely have to dream about a thin crust meat feast before it magically arrives at our door, right?

Thought money couldn't buy you happiness?

Well, to be honest, we've always had our reservations about this bold statement and it now looks like we were right all along.

An international team of researchers have proved that money really can make you happier – that is, if you use it to pay other people to do your chores.

Now, that's not to say you should rush out and hire a cleaner, a gardener and a personal chef, because let's be real, who has got the cash for that?

But, trading your money for time every now and again could prove hugely beneficial to your mental health and well-being.

The researchers, led by Ashley Whillans, began with survey data from nearly 4,500 people from the United States, Canada, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Participants were asked whether they paid other people to do “unenjoyable daily tasks” in order to “increase their free time”, to which 28% answered, yes.

In fact, these people spent an average of €126.59 per month, buying extra time.

And while they may have been left a little out of pocket, what they lost in cash, they made up for in happiness.

Results suggested that people who traded their money for time were more satisfied with life than those who didn't.

“Deconstructing this interaction, time stress was associated with lower life satisfaction among respondents who did not spend money on time-saving purchases," the authors wrote in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences

“For respondents who spent money on time-saving purchases, the negative effect of time pressure on life satisfaction was not significant.”

So, next time you feel like indulging in a bit of retail therapy, you might want to consider trading your money for minutes rather than material items.

We're nearing the end of the month which means the vast majority of us are currently living off beans, pasta and half-price fruit.

And that, ladies, is because we did what we do every other month, and blew our salary on non-essentials leaving us incapable of procuring actual essentials for the rest of the month.

So, the cycle continues; you know how it is.

Thankfully, our good friends out there in the Twitosphere are just like us, and know all too well the agony of the final week of the month.

Behold your friends, ladies.

1. We hear you, girl.

2. You heard her.

 3. Praise Jesus.

 4. Hell, yeah.

5. Do not donate, he has more than us.

6. Ah yes, the porridge bowl diet.

7. It's certainly something to consider.

8. We don't need that negativity in our lives.

9. You could have gotten 4 Taz bars back in the day.

10. Life is cruel.

11. Whatever helps, dude.

If you grew up on a diet of Dirty Dancing quotes and regularly attempt to re-enact the moves after a vino or seven, then chances are you'd love to visit the resort which played as big a role in the 1987 movie as Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.

And here's the thing; you actually can…. as long as you remember to head to Virginia, not New York as the movie would suggest.

Kellerman's!

The Kellerman Resort, as it was known in the film, actually goes by the name Mountain Lake Hotel, and is located in Pembroke, Virginia.

Unsurprisingly, the resort routinely pays tribute to the classic feel-good film, with three Dirty Dancing-themed weekends every year.

That's right, you can actually recreate scenes from the movie in the very place it was filmed thirty years ago.

Luc Besson's, Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets, is set to hit Irish cinemas next Friday, and judging by the reviews so far, it looks set to be one of the films of the year.

Adapted from a French comic book, the sci-fi flick sees Cara Delevingne take on the role of Laureline, a strong female special agent who works alongside her partner (Dane DeHaan) to maintain order throughout human territories.

Having previously starred in Suicide Squad and Paper Towns, fans of the actress will be used to seeing her as an independent protagonist, and she has now revealed that these are the only roles she will consider going forward.

Speaking to Metro, Cara explained: "It’s a culmination of the role, obviously, what the role stands for, I think at the moment I’m really going for really strong independent females."

The 24-year-old also expressed her excitement at getting a chance to work alongside Luc Besson's whose work she is a fan of.

"He really opened my eyes to sci-fi after Disney. It’s really crazy that I’m standing here today after being in one of his films after watching his films. After all the incredible women he puts in his films, I’m just so thankful he chose me."

Meanwhile Cara has been distancing herself from her former career as a model, saying she doesn't "give a s**t" about what she looks like.

Speaking to Radio Times, the actress admitted that she feared the world of fashion would turn her into something she's not and revealed that the industry was no something she stood for.

But, having firmly cemented her place in Hollywood, it looks like Cara won't be need to go back to the catwalk any time soon.

From those Topshop 'clear knee' jeans to Y Project's crotchless jeans, there have been plenty of odd fashion items doing the rounds.

Now, the ASOS accessories department is getting in on the WTF action with their latest offering.

The online retail giant is keeping even the most sartorially sound fashionista guessing with their 'Round Geeky Glasses with Clear Lens & Hoop Earrings.'

The accessory features a pair of clear lens glasses with a string attached.

At the end of the string sits a set of coiled hoop earrings, however, we're not sure exactly how they're meant to be worn.

Even the gorgeous model looks slightly lost about what to do with these bad boys.

Brian McFadden might be joining Boyzone… and we're not quite sure how we feel about it.

Brian travelled with Boyzone's Keith Duffy for the majority of this year, where they mashed up the music of Boyzone and Westlife to create er, Boyzlife.

The lads performed in hotels around Ireland and the UK, but now that Boyzone is embarking on its 20th anniversary tour, the lads will be playing to a much bigger audience.

At first, it looked like Brian would be the supporting act for Ronan, Mikey, Shane and Keith, but Shane Lynch has hinted that Brian might play a much bigger part in the tour.

He told The Irish Sun: "There's a possibility of Brian joining us.

"He's doing the whole tour on a support but there is no point in him hanging around.

"I'd like to bring him on stage for a couple of songs with the boys," he added.

It looks like Michael Kors is going to be the new owner of Jimmy Choo.

The US designer has agreed to buy the luxury shoe brand for $1.2 billion (€1.02b), however, it promises that no changes will be made to the British footwear.

Jimmy Choo went up for auction in April after its majority owner, JAB, decided to focus on profits in "consumer goods."

And even though Michael Kors has been struggling with declining sales, the brand believes that acquiring Jimmy Choo will boost revenue.

The New York Times commented saying that this will be a "source of growth in an increasingly competitive retail landscape" for the American company.

A post shared by Michael Kors (@michaelkors) on

Speaking of the decision, Michael Kors said: “Jimmy Choo is an iconic premier luxury brand that offers distinctive footwear, handbags and other accessories.

“We admire the glamorous style and trend-setting nature of Jimmy Choo designs,” he added.

The film was shot over four years, and is set to document his explosive career and humble beginnings.
