Yearly Archives: 2016

It's all over for lovebirds Natasha Hamilton and Ritchie Neville, just five months after getting engaged.

The pair, who have one-year-old daughter Ella Rose together, confirmed the split to Mail Online earlier today.

"After careful consideration, we have decided to amicably end our relationship," their statement reads.

"There is no one reason for the failure of our relationship. Unfortunately it's just the way things have turned out and it's no one's fault.

"In the interests of our family we remain good friends and we hope that people will respect our privacy at this time."

Natasha took to Twitter this evening to hit out at the "scum" tweeting negative messages to herself and Ritchie about their split.

"It make [sic] me so angry that when your having a really tough time in life, all the scum crawl out the woodwork to troll you," she wrote, retweeting two of the more upsetting jibes.

Back in October, Ritchie and Natasha seemed as loved-up as ever after three years together, gushing about their engagement to OK! magazine.

"It was so romantic and it couldn’t have been more perfect. I felt overwhelmed and like I was in a movie," Richie recalled, with Natasha adding that the pair were "sobbing" as she said "yes."

It's the second major split for Natasha in the last five years, after she called it quits with her husband of eight years Riad Erraji in 2013. The former couple have one child together, five-year-old Alfie.

Aside from Alfie, the Atomic Kitten singer has two other children, 13-year-old Josh and 11-year-old Harry from previous relationships; and one-year-old Ella with Ritchie.

One poor mam and dad saw their plan go disastrously wrong recently after they attempted to 'surprise' their son with a trip to the circus.

Like so many YouTube parents before them, the couple waited until the last minute to reveal to their four-year-old that they were headed for the circus, with a camera at the ready to record his joyful reaction.

Except it wasn't joyful. Not at all. After originally being told by his prankster parents that he was off to "the broccoli farm", Max was horrified to hear the truth.

A circus? Nah. He was having none of it, even when his dad tried to tempt him with talk of "elephants."

All poor Max could do was repeat "I wanted to go to the broccoli farm" over and over, before bursting into tears.

We hope his dream of a day out at the broccoli farm comes true one day.

After Trinity College announced back in January that it would be making consent workshops mandatory for all freshers, the news became the subject of more than a few heated debates.

Were the workshops needed? Would they really do any good? Could knowledge of consent really be taught?

For anyone still asking those questions, we'd like to point you in the direction of this Facebook post, by Dublin woman Victoria Curtis:

The 34-year-old was walking home via Camden Street with some female friends late on Saturday night when her group was heckled by a man asking them, in Victoria's words, "to take off our trousers, pull down our knickers and show him our arses."

Stopping to tell the man that it "wasn't cool" to speak to women like that, Victoria found herself at the receiving end of a brutal physical attack.

"This is what misogyny looks like," Victoria wrote, adding that she believed the attack was as much down to her sexuality as her decision to speak back to the heckler.

"This is what being punched four times in the face looks like because you're a queer.

"This is what happens when we call them out. This is what will keep happening if we keep ignoring and accepting their behaviour.

"This is why consent courses are needed in colleges. This is Ireland 2016."

In one positive development, Victoria acknowledged the Gardaí's "brilliant work" after her report of the attack.

Gardaí also confirmed to the Irish Independent that they were reviewing CCTV footage in an attempt to track the man in question down.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people have shared and commented on the post to show their support.

"This is unacceptable, disgusting and so wrong. I'm angry, gutted and hurt for you," one reader wrote.  "That's horrible. Brave of you to call him out on it. Hope he gets caught," wrote another.

Here's hoping Victoria's attacker is caught, and that the incident serves as a wake-up call to anyone who is still on the fence about the need for consent education in this country.

Chrissy Teigen is just a few short weeks from her due date, but she's not stepping out of her sky-high heels just yet.

The model and TV personality celebrated her baby shower in New York yesterday, a pink-and-cream princess-themed event that was every bit as fabulous as you would expect from Ms. Teigen.

Before we begin, we'd like to take a moment to worship the below photo, which was taken outside the venue after yesterday's event.

Meaning yes, that is an eight-months-pregnant Chrissy. In a bodycon dress. And stilettos.

YAAAS QUEEN.

Dressed in nude Stuart Weitzman heels and a horse-printed Stella McCartney silk jacket, Chrissy arrived at SoHo jewellery store Material Good with her French bulldog Princess in tow – and her husband John Legend.

Yup, the standard 'girls-only' baby shower rule was broken for John, who even got his own 'Baby Daddy' princess crown for the occasion.

Not to be left out, Chrissy had her own 'Baby Mama' crown:

And there were even some royal baby-themed bickies on offer:

Cuteness.

After a long day, the expectant parents enjoyed some chill-out time on the couch – though we're still wondering who took that 'casual' photo:

After Melissa McCarthy tweeted that she wasn't asked back for the Gilmore Girls reboot, it's safe to say that many of us were outraged on her/Sookie's behalf. She was one of our favourites, after all.

But some eagle eyed social media users have noticed a few things popping up in recent days that seem very suspicious.

The actress was seen in a photo of one of the cast members, Yanic Truesdale a.k.a. MICHEL.

Yep, Michel, Lori's longtime grumpy employee that we all loved (because that grumpiness is secretly how we all feel).

Now, here's where it gets tricky. In the caption, Yanic wrote: Scotch, great meal and catching up with my old friend @melissamccarthy, can't ask for more! Don't read anything into it guys."

Note: We KNOW he said don't read anything into it, but come on guys, these two in the same place, at the same time can't be completely innocent.. right?… RIGHT?

Scott Disick has been up to his old tricks (again) while his former partner has been posting cryptic messages on social media.

And while Kourt simply shared a photo of herself before going to sleep, we bet she didn't bargain Scott commenting on it… And we're not even sure if it's a compliment.

The mum-of-three uploaded a photo and in it was a tiny nip slip (on purpose? Who knows) and 8 minutes later, her ex-boyfriend said: "Hell yeah get it girl I know 3 kids that those nips made into perfect Angels."

Sorry, what? Was he drunk? Did he think she'd be delighted with that comment posted all over the Internet?

If you want to win her back Scott, you're not doing a very good job.

Yes, say what you want about kindness and decency and all that, but we still maintain that chocolate is NOT for sharing.

Especially Easter chocolate, which is why we're very pleased indeed with Lindt's latest offering.

If your Easter Sunday isn't complete without beheading (and be-footing) a Lindt bunny, then be sure to safeguard your stash this year by having it personalised.

Starting from today, March 7, Brown Thomas is offering a personalisation service with the purchase of all 200g Lindt bunnies (€6).

The name or word of your choice will be printed in Lindt's signature gold font on the bunny's red ribbon. Adorable.

You can keep it above board, like Glenda and Elisha, or you can write something more to-the-point like GET YOUR DIRTY HANDS OFF THIS, YOU SOULLESS THIEF.*

Find out more – and purchase your personalised bunny – on the Living Floor, Level 3, Brown Thomas Dublin.

*You probably can't write that.

It has been yonks since Eminem has come out with new material, but his latest move is something we never really expected.

The rapper announced that he is re-issuing his 1999 album Slim Shady in CASSETTE form… Em, what?

More than ten years has passed since the album debuted and while it's great and all (don't get us wrong, we loveee Slim Shady), we just don't understand what the deal is with the old-school technology.

Fans can sign up to a mailing list to receive early access to the release… But can't we just look it up on Youtube?

Anyway, we're not the only ones a bit miffed by the news, and his fans took to Twitter to speak out:

One Direction fans, and more specifically, Harry Styles fans seem to be obsessed with his ever growing hair. And while we're cool with him growing it to whatever length he fancies, we're not so fond of the little mustache he's sporting at the moment.

The singer is spending the band's hiatus chilling with friends and keeping a low profile, but while he was out at the weekend, fans noticed a slight difference.

The hair on his upper lip is super light and maybe he just wasn't bothered shaving for a few days but we're hoping and praying this isn't a permanent thing.

Come on Harry, don't hide that baby face we've grown to love.

Storm Keating may have been born with a model-ready name, but if things had gone differently we'd be calling her something very different indeed.

The Aussie beauty took to Instagram just now to defend herself after some controversy around her "real" name cropped up on 2fm this morning.

During an interview with 2fm's Breakfast Republic host Jennifer Maguire, RTÉ's weather queen Teresa Mannion dropped the bombshell that Storm's real name might not in fact be the one we've always known her by.

"When I was doing Good Morning Australia, the presenters were chatting to me during the break and they were saying, ‘Do you kow Ronan Keating?'” she said, according to Goss.ie.

"He’s married to an Australian’ and I said ‘Oh yeah, Storm’ and they said that’s not her real name. There was a little bit of bitchiness there.”

After some Google sleuthing, Jennifer suggested on air that Storm's name might in fact be (the far less glamourous) Sharyn.

Now, Storm's setting the record straight – yes her first name IS Sharyn, but she's always gone by her middle name.

She even went so far as to post a copy of her birth cert – which does indeed list her name as Sharyn Storm Uechtritz – to prove it.

"My birth certificate for @JenniferMaguire and anyone else who is curious about my name," the model wrote.

"My parents took the name 'Storm' from one of the novels in Wilbur Smith's first trilogy (a famous South African journalist) because they loved it and have called me Storm since I was born.

"They made my first name 'Sharyn' because they were worried that people might make fun of me… turns out they were right.

"The use of middle names is not uncommon," she finished, going on to list other celebs – including Brad Pitt, Ashton Kutcher, Bruce Willis, Rihanna and Will Ferrell – who've ditched their first names.

If you want to hear more, it might be worth tuning into 2fm tomorrow morning, at least if Jennifer gets her way:

Touché.

Have any plans for March 16?

Well you do now – if luck is in your favour, that is.

In honour of St Patrick's Day, Jameson Irish Whiskey and Hot Press are bringing three Irish bands to Dublin as part of their Bow St Sessions. Kodaline, Little Hours and Walking On Cars will perform a once-off March 16 "homecoming" gig at The Academy, along with Toronto natives July Talk.

The best part? The whole thing is FREE, but you'll have to be chosen from a lottery in order to get your hands on a pair.

You can apply for tickets here, but applications close at 3pm today, March 7, so you had better hurry on.

Jameson's live music sessions usually take place at their well-known Bow St Distillery in Smithfield, but the gig is moving to The Academy this time to accommodate a larger audience.

Let us know on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram if you're lucky enough to get tickets!
