We all know that what’s inside our fridges, freezers, and cupboards is going to have a fairly significant impact on our health.

But now new research has suggested that how your kitchen is laid-out is just as influential when it comes to keeping trim.

Yes, following an in-depth study at the Food And Brand Lab at Cornell University, scientists have announced: “The food on our counters, the smells in the kitchen, the lighting in the room and even the colour of the walls can contribute to obesity.”

So, what can we do? Well, the university also has tops tips that makes for some rather interesting reading…

1) Keep your blender or juicer out on the counter:

“When you have that craving for something sweet, the blender might just serve as a reminder that healthy fruit smoothies can satisfy that urge.”

2) Keep bread in fridge

“Bread can be a healthy snack, but if eaten too frequently, it will lead to extra pounds. Keep the fruit on the counter and put the bread away so the lower calorie snacks are easier to grab.”

3) Cover high-calorie items with tinfoil and the more nutritious items with cling-film

“Hiding temptations can help you remember to eat fruits and vegetables. This can keep you from eating 120 extra calories a day.”

4) Keep a jug of flavoured water

“Water infused with fruit can satisfy our craving without loading us down with extra calories. Compared to soda, drinking water can save you 100 calories per 8 fluid ounce glass.”

5) Serve up your dinner before you put the plates on the table

“People who use this strategy eat 19 percent less food, which can be beneficial to the waistline in the long run.

6) Dim your kitchen lights

Doing so can help you “eat more mindfully, resulting in 175 fewer calories per meal.”

7) Paint your kitchen in neutral tones

“Brighter tones cause us to feel anxious so we eat faster; darker tones relax us so we take more time to eat and might eat more. A neutral colour can help avoid either extreme.”

8) Use air fresheners

“Clean, fresh scents most likely will not trigger our memories of delicious foods or spark a craving for something sweet — helping us avoid unnecessary snacking.”

She has been heavily on our radar this year thanks to her kickass Las Vegas show, her split with Charlie Ebersol, and her very interesting duet with Iggy Azalea, which showed that Pretty Girls may not be nice girls.

But because it's Britney, she always has something else up her sleeve.

And that something is a brand new album. Brit Brit herself shared the news on Instagram yesterday, that she's already begun working on her ninth studio album.

Just last week the songstress tweeted that she had just finished a new song, followed by the hashtag #B9. And of course this caused her fans to go crazy and speculate that she is already planning her follow-up to 2013's Britney Jean.

But this was finally confirmed yesterday when she posted a picture of her and her team, pondering what to do for the new album.

Check out the cute announcement below:

Kylie Jenner's new cover of Elle Canada is finally here, and along with the photo editorial comes a very interesting interview.

Kylie discusses her anti-bullying campaign, #IAmMoreThan, at length in the piece, but then somewhat ironically, the other major discussion in the piece is her changing face – or lips for that matter.

As Kylie has mentioned before, her lips were a major insecurity for her, and when asked why she didn't come clean in the first place, she said, "I never denied it."

Now, she has never actually said, "Nope, no fillers!" But instead she and her publicists talked about the subject very masterfully on social media and in interviews.

One thing's for sure though, in the interviews below, she fell a little short of the truth:

"That's so ridiculous and not true." – Daily Mail, March 2014 (when asked about lip rumours)

"These plastic surgery rumours hurt my feelings to be honest, and are kinda insulting." —Twitter, April 2014

"How long are we gonna talk about this lip thing lmao… Let's get a [sic] our lives together guys and talk about some important shit." —Twitter, October 2014

"I love lip liner and over lining my lips… I feel like everyone has been talking about [my lips] for months, so I'm kind of sick of it,"E! News, November 2014

"Kylie's lips are created using expertly applied lip liner and a little lip balm… I find it funny that so much attention is drawn to my work, but I like it."Daily Mail, December 2014 (an interview with Kylie's makeup artist)

"I know how to do my makeup, contour, and everything. I'm not against surgery. I'd never say no, but I don't desire it right now."Cosmopolitan, February 2015

"Stop talking about my lips… I've never been under the knife."Grazia, April 2015.

Hell yeah, Khloe!

Think Serena Williams is a softie at heart? Think again.

The tennis pro was out for a dinner with her fellow sports star Caroline Wozniacki last night, when she suddenly found herself chasing down a phone thief… and winning.

Taking to Facebook this afternoon, the US Open champ explained how she knew something wasn't right when a strange man spent a little too long lingering by her table.

"So this guy is standing next to me and something (I have now dubbed it my SUPERHERO sense) told me to watch him," she wrote.

"My phone was sitting in the chair but I just didn't feel right. He was there too long."

Needless to say, Serena's "superhero sense" was indeed correct, and the man proceeded to grab her phone, obviously not knowing who exactly he was messing with.

"He began to run but I was too fast. (Those sprints came in handy) I was upon him in a flash," she told her followers today.

"In the most menacing yet calm no nonsense voice I could muster I kindly asked him if he 'accidentally' took the wrong phone.

"He stumbled on his words… eventually he said 'Gosh you know what I did! It was so confusing in there. I must have grabbed the wrong phone.'"

After relieving the thief of his stolen goods, Serena said she walked back into the restaurant to a "standing ovation" from the other diners.

Signing off, the tennis star urged other women to "not be a victim but a hero."

That's advice for life right there.

It's been a good week for model Gigi Hadid: for one, she's secured a spot on the Victoria's Secret catwalk. Sadly, however, it seems that matters of the heart are rather less rosy for 20-year-old.

Yes, she and musician Joe Jonas have now SPLIT, according to an exclusive report on PEOPLE.com.

"Joe and Gigi’s relationship recently ended," the website reports. "Nothing serious happened… it wasn’t a dramatic break up. It was just hard to make it work with their schedules. They will definitely remain friends."

The duo began their relationship earlier this year, making their red-carpet debut last month at a gala in New York just last month.

Ms Hadid recently co-directed a music video for 26-year-old Mr Jonas's band, DNCE.

"She had a megaphone. She was a badass," he told PEOPLE.com afterwards.

However, last weekend Gigi attended Heidi Klum's annual Halloween party in NYC alone – a decision which raised eyebrows at the time.

Joe and Gigi began dating in the aftermath of his split from his then-girlfriend of two years, Olivia Culpo, a former Miss USA and model. Ms Hadid, meanwhile, is a former love of Aussie singer, Cody Simpson.

We have been waiting MONTHS for more info about the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and now we finally have a little bit of insight into the new film.

The brand new official Fantastic Beasts Instagram (that already has 14,000 followers) account has been made and they shared a first look into the movie art today.

Now, we know it may not be much BUT if you look closely, there's so much more than meets the eye.

The poster includes a silver font with dragon-inspired accents that can be found on the famous Hungarian Horntail from the HP movies.

Also if you look closely, under "From J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World" is a tiny wand.

The Fantastic Beasts IG account also posted a photo from Entertainment Weekly, which shows Newt Scamander, the main character of the movie on the cover of it's magazine.

Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne plays the world-famous magizoologist, who embarks on an adventure in New York in 1926. But like the movie art, there's more to this magazine cover than you might know.

The cover image is the first time we've seen the main character, who has a pivotal briefcase in hand as he stands inside the entrance of the majestic Magical Congress of the United States of America, which is the American version of the Ministry of Magic. Interestng!

We'd say this IG account is going to spill ALL the juicy details about the new movie, so follow and look out. You never know when some movie info might pop up!

Chrissy Teigen loves to keep things real on social media – and she expects others to do the same.

The expectant mum couldn't hold back her disdain yesterday when a US magazine published inaccurate reports about her personal life.

John Legend might be an amazing husband, but – contrary to an "exclusive" article published by American magazine OK! – he hasn't been leaving her love notes, washing her hair and buying her "the best pregnancy down-filled pillows money can buy."

Chrissy was quick to call out the publication for its "made-up" work, but she made sure to keep things tongue-in-cheek.

"Literally every word of this is made up but I enjoyed the story time," she wrote, posting a link to the article.

Despite being open about most parts of her life online, the model made a public decision earlier this month to stop posting updates about her pregnancy.

"No more preg tweeting for me, lesson learned!! Back to food and reality TV and hay things," she wrote, after some followers posted negative comments about how large her bump was, with some even asking if she might be having twins.

"Good thing I am unoffendable or this would be a rough few months," she added.

For €7.8m, there's a LOT of things you could buy.

For instance, there's a castle situated in Galway that you could grab for only €6m, leaving you with a bit of spending money. Or you could opt for a Georgian demesne in Laois, which is going for €5.5m, full of antique furniture and gold plated mirrors.

But far pricier per square foot, even per square inch is a furnished castle, with 29 rooms, fireplaces, armoury and a wine cellar that's worth €7.8m. But of course, there's a small catch: It's only 2metres tall. And all of the glamorous features? They're miniature.

Yep, the Astolat Dollhouse Castle – said to be the world's most valuable dollhouse – is being shown for the first time in New York.

The pricey doll pad was built in the 1980s, and has seven levels filled with 10,000 tiny pieces, which include real oil paintings, mirrors, a functional piano, €4,500 set of knives and forks and even minibooks that date back over a century.

The miniature castle is wired, has plumping (although we don't know who would be able to fit onto a mini toilet), and also has multiple stairways, hallways, a library, a basement and a music room.

The dollhouse was designed and created by miniature artist Elaine Diehl, who spent 13 years building it. She even hired carpenters, glassblowers and gold and silversmiths for across the globe to her her finish it.

Too bad no one can ever live in it.

It’s the eating plan that’s seriously in vogue: no meat, no dairy – just healthy, wholesome vegan meals and snacks.

But while eliminating processed foods and oodles of red meat, cheese and cream can probably only be a good thing, veganism can also be associated with orthorexia: a potentially damaging fixation on ‘clean’ eating.

One young woman who is a testament to that link is Jordan Younger, a 25-year-old blogger and author who boasts some 125,000 Instagram followers.

“The obsession with my diet took up my every waking hour,” Ms Younger told the New York Post this week. “It was stopping me from leading a normal life full of social activities and other interests.”

At 1.63cm tall, at her lowest she weighed just 47.5kg. She explains that while this isn’t “skeletal,” she was nevertheless “textbook example of an orthorexic”.

A native of LA, Ms Younger became vegan in her final year of college, not because of ethical reasons to protect animals, but after experiencing undiagnosed abdominal issues.

“In the beginning, it was very cleansing and detoxing, and I had this rush of adrenaline,” she says.

However, she soon found that she was exhausted all the time. That and her bloating and constipation issues returned. Still, she continued to follow her strict regimen and was compelled to religiously post everything she ate on her popular Blonde Vegan blog, which she kicked off shortly after graduation.

That pattern could have proved fatal, but her turning point came in June 2014 when she admitted to a friend that her periods had stopped.

The pal, who had also suffered from orthorexia, recommended she reintroduce fish into her diet. Within a week of eating a small portion of salmon, Jordan was menstruating again.

A dietician later confirmed that fish and eggs would boost her poor nutrient levels. Not wanting to lie to her fans, Ms Younger announced on the Blonde Vegan that she was “transitioning away from veganism.”

And that’s when all hell broke loose. Her site crashed and thousands of followers ditched her. She also received anonymous death threats. “It was shocking,” recalls Jordan.

Still, two months later, she relaunched as The Balanced Blonde, which now features a wider-ranging choice of tips and recipes.

“These days I live without a label, which is much more freeing,” she explains. She doesn’t even know her current weight, but considers herself a healthy size.

“I still eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and smoothies, but also fish, eggs and sometimes red meat.”

She even tucked into pizza and pasta on a recent trip to Italy. “Now I’m all about balance,” she says.

Jordan Younger is also the author of Breaking Vegan: One Woman's Journey From Veganism, Extreme Dieting, And Orthorexia To A More Balanced Life, priced at £12.99 from amazon.co.uk

It's considered to be a dream job for most models, but one catwalk queen has just delivered a serious diss to the Victoria's Secret fashion show.

English model Jourdan Dunn has walked for Victoria's Secret in the last three annual shows but won't be appearing this year.

Whether it was her decision or not remains unclear, but it seems there's some bad blood between her and the lingerie giant either way.

In a hastily-deleted tweet posted last night, Jourdan wasn't exactly subtle about her dislike for the brand.

"Feeling so much better about not doing BS… sorry I mean VS now that Rihanna isn't doing it also," the 25-year-old wrote alongside a smiling emoji.

While Jourdan might be out of this year's line-up, there's no shortage of other willing candidates. Indeed, both Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid were confirmed as new recruits this week – and they can barely contain their happiness.

Kendall described her new job  as "one of my biggest dreams" in an Instagram post last night, while Gigi burst into tears when she was asked to take part:

The Victoria's Secret show has always been known as one of the most demanding gigs for a model, with former VS Angels admitting to surviving on a liquid-only diet and working out twice a day or more to achieve their enviable look.

"It’s like being an Olympian – they have to be in peak condition," VS's creative director Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou says.

As for Jourdan, she admitted last year that she simply doesn't have the motivation to hit the gym regularly.

"To be honest I hardly ever work out. Even though in my apartment I have a gym and my brother's a personal trainer. I'm just very lazy," she said.

While she might not be getting up on the VS stage this year, the model is still keeping busy – she's been involved in campaigns for Maybelline, H&M, Balmain and more over the last few weeks alone.
