Forget the January blues, as Zooey Deschanel's month has been pretty perfect so far!

Just last week the New Girl actress confirmed she was expecting her first child with boyfriend Jacob Pechenik, and now the pair are set to tie the knot this year too.

The news was announced by Us Weekly this evening,

Zooey is "over the moon" at the thought of welcoming a child this summer – but there's no news yet if the wedding will be before or after the little one is born.

The happy couple have only been publicly dating for five months – they were first seen together in August 2014, shortly after Zooey's split from screenwriter Jamie Linden.

We hope this marriage is second time lucky for Zoeey – she was previously married to Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard but the pair sadly split in 2012.

Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan has had a very tough few weeks of it.

Shortly after Christmas, the actress was diagnosed with a rare virus which she is believed to have picked up while on holidays in French Polynesia. Although she did return to work in LA and had been posting updates until the middle of last week, it's thought the actress is now back in hospital again.

TMZ are reporting that when Lindsay returned to London from LA this week, she became so ill that she could not walk due to severe joint pain. The actress was rushed to King Edward VII hospital last night with a high fever and is still being treated there.

Lindsay had been enjoying a dream holiday in French Polynesia over the Christmas period, but the trip came to an end when she contracted Chikungunya, a virus transmitted by infected mosquitos.

Although the joint pain could last for months, as Lindsay is young her prognosis looks good otherwise. We wish her a full recovery!

Those of you who have read Fifty Shades of Grey will be all too familiar with the er, tampon scene…

For those of you who haven’t, in the scene Anastasia has her period and before they have sex, Christian pulls her tampon out. Sorry…

Now that has been uncomfortably explained, it has been revealed that the scene won’t be making the movie, which we have to say isn’t all that surprising given that it isn’t the sexiest of scenes to imagine.

Talking to Variety, the director Sam Taylor-Johnson revealed that the infamous scene wouldn’t cut it: “It didn’t make the movie. It was never even discussed.”

Producer of the movie, Michael DeLuca explained that the decision, saying: “The book needed to put you in Ana’s shoes to be a successful experience. A lot of it was very literal. The movie didn’t need to do that. It’s a completely different medium.”

Are you relieved or disappointed that the scene won’t be hitting the cinemas?

Charlotte Crosby has never been a wallflower, but we seriously hope she's joking with these latest comments!

Geordie Shore is up for a Multichannel award at tonight's National Television Awards in London, and she has made some pretty wild claims about what she and her cast members will do if they win, saying they have every intention of getting drunk and making a show of themselves.

"We’re going to get properly mortal and embarrass ourselves. If we win it would be crazy. If they call our names out as the winner there will be utter chaos. I’ll personally pull a moony on stage and may even get naked," she told the Daily Star.

Jaysis, Charlotte!

The 24-year-old recently launched a best-selling fitness DVD after spending months overhauling her image with an extreme diet and fitness regime. But tonight she's obviously planning to ditch the diet for a few hours and have some celebratory drinks.

"We’ll run on the stage and by that time we’ll be p**sed already," said Charlotte. And if Geordie Shore doesn't win, Charlotte reckons things will really "kick off."

We'll have to tune in for that!

A young tennis star who was tipped as being "the next Anna Kournikova" has died suddenly aged just 23.

Violetta Degtiareva is believed to have suffered a heart attack, according to reports in her home country of Russia.

It's thought the athlete, from Rostov in south-west Russia, collapsed after a recent training session and died shortly after.

Despite her young age, the blonde beauty was currently ranked at 1,084 in the world, with a peak at 947.

News of her death was not immediately made public and only became known when her fellow player Anastasia Vdovenco posted a message of condolence on her Facebook page, saying, "I can hardly believe it. Rest in peace."

Reports have not yet specified where Violetta was training when the incident occurred.

Congratulations are in order for BBC presenter Reggie Yates and his long-term girlfriend Tia Ward.

The couple, who have been together for four years, took to Instagram yesterday to share the happy news of their engagement which happened earlier this month.

Model Tia revealed the news by posting this snap of her gorgeous gold ring, with the caption, "B I R T H D A Y S P A R K L E: 'I have decided to stick with love, hate is too great a burden to bear.' Happy Martin Luther King Day."

A birthday, a national holiday AND an engagement? Sounds like Tia has a lot to celebrate this month!

Although Tia and Reggie have been together since 2011, they only went public with their relationship in 2012, after being pictured on holidays together in St. Tropez.

TV presenter Reggie, best known for his hosting work on The Voice UK, popped the question while the pair vacationed in Brazil over New Year's. Tia wrote about the incredible trip on her blog last week, saying, "Where to even begin. Our time is Rio de Janeiro was spent lounging in the sun, exploring the city, taking pictures, immersing ourselves in the culture & eating plantains and steak till our top buttons had to be undone."

A dream trip by all accounts!

When we think about chips, we instantly think ‘unhealthy’. But if we go back to the base of a chip, that is, the potato, surely there is nothing wrong with a potato?

By stripping away the oil, salt and deep-fat frying elements of chips, is it possible to make them healthy? Of course it is! But will they be just as crispy and tasty? Most definitely.

The trick with these chips is to get rid of the starch before baking, leaving a crispy, dry outside and a fluffy, soft inside to the chip.

Here is a simple recipe for crispy, clean chips you can eat every night of the week:

What you’ll need:

  • 1-2 potatoes
  • 1 tsp. Smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper

What you’ll need to do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180.
  2. If you wish to peel the potato, do so now. If not, simply chop into chip shapes.
  3. In a bowl, pour water and add some ice cubes (unless you have iced water on hand)
  4. Tip the chips into the iced water and leave for ten minutes.
  5. Change the water and leave for a further ten minutes.
  6. Drain the water from the chips and pour the chips onto a tea towel laid out onto a counter.
  7. Dry the chips, individually if you must – we swear it’s worth it!
  8. Place the chips back into the bowl, season and add the smoked paprika, mixing to coat evenly.
  9. Put the chips into the hot oven and bake until golden brown and soft on the inside when a fork is inserted.

Irishwoman Avril Mulcahy knows a thing or two about dating. As a "modern-day matchmaker," Avril has helped hundreds of singles to find their perfect match – from CEOs to farmers and everyone in between.

Us SHEmazing! ladies never say no to some solid dating advice, so we were delighted to hear that Avril had published her own book full of tips, tricks and secrets. Go Get Him: Everything You Need To Know To Create The Love You Want is described as a "road map for falling in love with your dating life again."

Combining her real-life experience as a matchmaker with Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques, Avril's book is a great resource for anyone looking to overhaul their dating life.

Here are five key things Avril's book taught us…

1. Relationships don't equal happiness
If you're looking for a relationship simply so you can finally answer that awkward "how's the love life?" with a positive answer, then you're off to a bad start already. As Avril says, "nobody else can make you happy – only you can." Focus on loving yourself first, before finding someone to share your life with.

2. The "I am a fecking ride" mantra
Confidence and attraction are nothing to do with how we look – they are linked to how we see ourselves. Avril advises readers to change the voice in their head "from a critic to a coach," using positive self-talk to help people see themselselves in a better light and be more willing to take risks when it comes to dating.

3. Our Junior Cert Business Studies knowledge could help our dating life
Anyone remember SWOT analysis? Usually used in a business context to define a company's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, Avril suggests we use a SWOT system to work out what exactly is standing in our way and how we can move forward when it comes to dating. You'd be surprised what you might learn about yourself when you get it all down on paper!

4. How to stop saying "I can fix him" and avoid destructive dating patterns
We've all been there. You know this new guy is a total player who has no interest in anything serious, but you still think that if you go on just ONE more date with him that he might see things differently. Never works out, does it? While we can't control the people we date, we can control ourselves and avoid falling back into the same patterns again and again.

5. The Flirtation Formula
Flirting. Some people find it comes naturally and others would rather poke their own eyes out than flutter their lashes at someone across a bar. As ladies, we often have the power during that initial meeting, and Avril shows us how to harness that ability and use it to our advantage. "The power of flirting is not in its mannerisms, but in the fantasy it creates in a man's mind," she says. "Veer towards being a little more risqué and you'll find you get a lot better results."

Ah, date night. It always seems like a great idea in theory – romance, reigniting that spark, spending quality time together – and yet it never goes quite to plan.

One of you will always be cranky, or too tired, or you'll both be flat-out broke and resentful at the idea of spending any more than a fiver on dinner.

If you've ever experienced the joy of a date night gone wrong, then some of these might ring a few bells.

Expectation: You'll arrive home early from work with plenty of time for preening and primping before your romantic night.

Reality: Two full busses will pass your stop in a row and you'll arrive home an hour later than usual, soaking wet and full of rage from battling with commuters.

Expectation: You'll be glowing, with perfect make-up and that new dress you got for Christmas.

Reality: You manage to get a streak of fake tan on the new dress and have to swap it out for your old reliable LBD which isn't so reliable after six weeks of shunning the gym. Oops. As for your make-up, well, caking more foundation on over today's make-up is okay, right? RIGHT?

Expectation: You two will enjoy a relaxing glass of wine as you wait for the taxi to arrive.

Reality: He will enjoy a relaxing glass of wine as you run around the house looking for that other high heel. HOW DID IT END UP BEHIND THE TV?

Expectation: You'll arrive at the restaurant in plenty of time and gaze at eachother romantically over a gorgeous meal.

Reality: You'll arrive late and have to hang on for a new table. After an hour's wait for your food, that romantic gazing is getting old fast.

Expectation: You'll feed each other delicious bites of your meals.

Reality: JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD.

Expectation: You'll finish your meal and stroll through the city arm in arm.

Reality: It will be lashing rain and you'll have to beg him for a loan of his hoodie. Request denied!

Expectation: You'll arrive home and fall into bed for a night of amazing sex.

Reality: You'll arrive home and fall into bed snoring after too many glasses of wine. Ah, the romance!

For those of us who applied for tickets to Ed Sheeran’s Storytellers gig in Whelans, Dublin this weekend, it’s been an emotional week.

Here are just some of the feelings we’ve had since the announcement and up until the moment we heard we were going/not going. Mostly not going.

Total and utter shock
Upon hearing the news we couldn’t believe our ears: “Ed Sheeran. Intimate gig. Storytellers. DUBLIN.” There is a God! Take all of our money!

Productivity
As we scrambled the internet for more information, ignoring both studies and work, we had our mums in our ears saying: “If you put this much effort into the Leaving Cert now you’d have been better off, wouldn’t you?” NOT NOW MA!

FOMO
Staying near an electronic device with internet at all times for fear tickets would be announced and we'd be somewhere useless like the gym.

Stress
OMG there’s BRAND NEW INFORMATION! Open the link, open the link!

Relief
An application process? How refreshing.

Panic
Why can’t we register?! Damn you Applause Store!

Fulfilment
All done now, registered and ready to go see Ed. We're totally in there.

Impatience
Four days is TOO LONG. Doubt starts to creep in…what if we don’t get picked? It doesn’t bear thinking about.

Uneasiness
Refreshing our email thousands of times a day and checking the hashtags #EdSheeran #Whelans incessantly to see if other people have gotten emails.

Comfort
Nobody seems to have…yet. Except for one person but they’re probably lying.

Smugness
In there like swimwear! See you Saturday, Ed!

Or, far more likely…

Devastation
So, it’s 8am, you’ve given it sixteen hours. It’s time to accept that unfortunately this time around, we are not going to see Ed.

Just remember:

When we lost Ryan Gosling to Eva Mendes, we thought, ‘okay, okay, at least we still have Jake Gyllenhaal’…But now it looks like he might be taken too!

The Nightcrawler actor was supposedly spotted getting up close and very personal with British actress Ruth Wilson. It was said Jake and the actress, famous for her roles in Luther and The Affair were seen kissing at The Golden Globe Awards last week.

The pair star together in Broadway play, Constellations and it seems as if some of that on-stage chemistry has found itself very much off-stage too! It was also reported that they were spotted kissing at a restaurant in New York before Christmas.

It sounds like our favourite Hollywood leading man has been snapped up right in front of our eyes!

That said, we have to say; they look VERY good together!
