Our generation has been afforded so many more opportunities than our parents before us. We can travel across the world at the drop of a hat (provided we have a few quid), we can have a cross-continental video chat simply by pressing a few buttons, and we can discover exactly what’s going on all over the world with a few quick scrolls on our smartphone.

Our little bubble can be as big or as small as we want it to be. It can stretch across the globe, or it can be confined to our couch, a onesie and the TV. While it’s truly amazing and eye-opening to have the freedom to be part of anything, at any time, that open door also comes with a few problems.

If you’re the kind of person who hates being left out of a conversation, or hates missing even the smallest of events with friends, you’ve definitely experienced FOMO at one point or another. Let’s face it, you probably experience it at least once a day.

Maybe you have work to catch up on, or are desperate for a few minutes to yourself, or maybe you just don’t have the funds. Whatever valid reasons you have for why you really shouldn’t be attending that dinner/house party/cocktail night, it’s impossible to ignore the little voice in your head that says, “but what if you miss out on something AMAZING?”

As the generation that has so many opportunities for discovery and exploration at our fingertips, it almost feels shameful to say “no” to an invitation. Why stay in for a quiet night when we could be out and about again, meeting new people and having incredible experiences?

Sometimes though, a reality check can go a long way. Yes, we might miss out on a life-changing experience at that gig/cinema trip/lunch, but in all likelihood, we probably won’t. All it will have resulted in is that we’ve now spread ourselves too thin and let ourselves down in other ways – by not getting enough sleep, by losing focus at work, or by missing out on family time.

As much as we need social experiences in our lives, we also need to maintain some sense of stability and balance. By rushing around trying to see everyone and discover everything that’s out there for us, we only end up missing out on the things that matter most – contentment and fulfilment.

So tonight, why not skip that invite for drinks that you really can’t afford a month before Christmas, and snuggle up with a cuppa and the Late Late Toy Show? Allow yourself to spend quality time alone or with family. Don’t stress about what you’re missing out on in the big bad world – just get settled in the moment and enjoy it.

Actress Tara Reid was enjoying some family time in Palm Springs yesterday over the Thanksgiving break. But some of the shots she shared on social media led to worried comments from fans about her increasingly slender frame.

The comments began when the American Pie star shared a snap of her standing at a window wearing only a pink and turquoise bikini. Although she seemed delighted to be relaxing in the sun, captioning the picture, "Visiting my parents house in Palm Springs for thanksgiving before the turkey," her followers soon began to express concern over her thin shape.

"You are too skinny," said one, while another comment read, "please get this girl a sandwich."

However other fans were quick to defend the 39-year-old actress, with one writing, "Her weight is her business. Stop being so judgmental. You don't know her story."

Tara didn't seem bothered by the comments, posting another message on Twitter later that day which read, "feeling good tonight."

She was clearly enjoying a relaxing day – even skipping out on evening arrangements with friends as she slept off her Thanksgiving dinner:

The actress has always had a slim frame and has defended her weight in the past, however her shape has drastically slimmed down over the last number of years. Recent snaps of her getting ready for Halloween in a short flapper-style dress also led to concerned messages from fans:

We hope she is doing okay!

Niamh Geaney sat down with chart toppers Sheppard who performed in Ireland as part of their European tour. This indie pop band all the way from Australia has dominated airwaves with their track Geronimo, even managing to knock Pharrell Williams' ‘Happy’ off the top spot in the charts. Our beloved Ellen De Generes is also a huge fan inviting the group to perform live on her chat show. Hear what the guys have to say on the Irish, touring with family and making it big in the US.

You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't respect, revere or just downright adore actor Morgan Freeman.

If we keep trying, we may be as cool, calm and collected as him one day, but until then we'll just remind ourselves why it's totes normal to want to be a 77-year-old male actor.

Here are just five reasons for channelling your inner Morgan

We want a voice as comforting as hot chocolate on a winter’s night, just like him.

We want people to say our voice sounds like the voice of God, just like they do about him.

We want people to create memes about how amazing we are, just like they do for him.

We want people to attribute touching, thought-provoking quotes to us whether we said them or not, just like he gets.

We want to star in critically-acclaimed Oscar-winning movies, just like he has.

Honestly, is it too much ask?

Thanksgiving Day is supposed to be a quiet time of rest and relaxation with the family.

So we can understand Drew Barrymore’s frustration when hers ended in a spot of trouble with the law!

The actress found herself slapped with ticket for jaywalking while she crossed the road after an early morning yoga class in Beverly Hills.

Of all the things to be told-off for, Drew!

The 39-year-old was seen playing with her hair nervously while a police officer took down her details, before presenting her with a fine.

It seems that Drew wasn’t quite so put out by the incident, however, as she later broke into a dance for awaiting paparazzi.

Well, that’s one way to shake off your troubles!

Drew has been a busy woman of late, having recently launched her own perfume range.

The star shared a sneak peek of the ad campaign for her scent ‘Cherished’ earlier this week, which she revealed will feature her eldest daughter, Olive.

Everyone was surprised to see Gemma Collins throw the towel in so early on her appearance in I’m A Celebrity, but the reality star has finally revealed the truth behind her decision.

In an interview on ITV’s This Morning, the TOWIE star today said that she had suffered an ‘horrific ordeal’ just 24 hours before leaving to participate in the show.

While Gemma could not go into detail due to an ongoing police investigation, she was visibly emotional as she recalled the traumatic event.

“I had been through an horrific ordeal 24 hours before I left for Australia. I was in so much shock, shock trauma,” she said.

Saying that she was heartbroken at having to leave the show so early on, the 33-year-old admitted she knew deep down that she wouldn’t be able to endure the task ahead of her.

“I have wanted to go into the jungle for three-and-a-half years – it’s the job I’ve wanted my whole life,” she said, adding, “The TV producers knew something had gone on but I covered it up.”

The star went on to confirm that she donated the fee she received for her stint on the show to charity.

Poor Gemma, we hope she’s okay!

There is nothing quite as relaxing as a long, hot soak in the tub. It’s the perfect antidote to a stressful, tiring day and we all need to indulge more often!

If you’re more used to a quick shower every morning, then you’re really missing out on this stress-relieving treat.

Why not take some time to prepare a bubble bath for yourself and reap the benefits!

We almost always put more effort into experiences for someone else, than ourselves. So, imagine you’re trying to treat your friend or other half to a relaxing, pampering session, but instead provide yourself with all the lovely treats you’d provide them!

Atmosphere
If the bathroom is cold or all you can hear are creaky pipes above you, then chances are reality won’t live up to expectations.

Make sure your bathroom is nice and toasty before you take the plunge and try to have some relaxing sounds playing in the background. Our personal favourite is a little Enya, but hey, it’s up to you.

Candles
Candles are a really lovely touch when you want to relax and unwind. Dim lighting and strategically placed tea lights will go a long way towards relieving stress or tension and adding to the relaxing atmosphere you’ve worked so hard to create.

Just remember to blow them out once you leave the bathroom in search of your PJ’s!

Bath Cushion
These are a tiny touch that can make all the difference. Placing a small bath cushion, or even a rolled up towel, at the nape of your neck while you recline in your scented bubbles is heavenly.

Just be certain not to drift off and fall asleep!

Treatments
This is not the time for your weekly exfoliation or tan-removing regime, which as we all know is more work than anything else!

By all means, use scented bubble bath and apply some conditioning treatments to your skin allowing them to soak in as your relax, but don’t decide to use your bath-time has an opportunity to rid your feet of corns and calluses!

Towels
If you’re going to be getting out the tub after a luxurious soak only to graze yourself by rubbing at your skin with threadbare towels, then again, the experience won’t live up to much.

Have a small, soft towel laid out for yourself to step on and two fluffy, warm towels ready to wrap yourself in once you’re finally ready to get out.

Girls, why not take some time to treat yourself to an hour-long soak in the tub, then cosy up for the rest of the evening and plan your next pamper session!

The actress took to her Instagram account today to share a beautiful black and white photo of herself and her fiancé looking absolutely delighted and loved-up.

Eliza also made sure that her giant engagement rock was on full display in the photo.

How big is that diamond? What a gorgeous ring!

In another loved-up post, the 33-year-old shared a photo of the couple’s interlinking hands, captioning the shot: “I am thankful to have found someone with bigger hands than my mammoth man mitts. It’s a rare thing. I love you Darin Olien.”

Aw, how cute is that?

This is the second time that Eliza will walk down the aisle. The star was previously married to puppeteer Randall Whittinghill from 2007 to 2013.

Kanye "I'mma let you finish" West is definitely a huge fan of the spotlight, but rumour has it he may be making a move away from music.

The rapper has always had some fashion-related side projects on the go, but now he's apparently decided to put stardom on the back burner for a while and focus completely on his career as a designer.

"After his next [collaboration] with Paul McCartney comes out, he's going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing," a source told Page Six.

Although he is best known as a musician, Kanye has actually had a pretty profitable career in fashion, including his collection for French fashion house APC which sold out in less than a day. The star's most recent style project was a range of footwear for Nike, but he has since signed with the company's biggest rival, Adidas. Controversial!

Despite making a multi-million dollar deal, Kanye has had to put things with Adidas on hold due to musical commitments, so now he's decided it's time to make a decision about where his real interests lie. "He got a $15 million signing bonus from Adidas, but his line has been pushed back four times because he hasn't had enough time to work on it," said the insider.

So does this mean no more sexy motorbike videos with Kim K? Well, we can't say we're TOO devastated about that…

As we all know, a sober taxi journey and a drunk taxi journey are worlds apart.

When we’re well into our second bottle of wine, we think the taxi is our own personal playpen. Hell, sometimes it’s the most fun part of the night.

When we’re sober and channelling our inner grown-up, we think the taxi is that day's adult challenge. Hell, it’s the least fun part of the week.

If you still struggle with correct taxi etiquette, then have a quick glance through our handy guide and you’ll be the perfect passenger in no time.

You may give precise, polite directions at any stage in your journey.

You may not ask if your taxi driver knows where you live because you sure as hell don’t.

You may keep your hands firmly clasped in your lap while you make polite chit-chat.

You may not rub your taxi driver’s head for luck while giggling hysterically.

You may say thanks without knowing your taxi driver’s name.

You may not call him Mr. Taxi Man and laugh like a cray-cray loon.

You may politely comment on the tedious radio talk show he has playing on Snooze Fm.

You may not change the radio station and roar ‘Tune!’ at every song before it even comes on.

You may seek your driver’s approval by tutting at drunk people you pass on your journey.

You may not roar out the window asking where these drunk people got their garlic cheese chips.

You may pay your driver upon stopping and offer a reasonable tip, if you wish.

You may not offer to pay your driver with your Tesco Clubcard and then offer a handful of coppers and one button as a tip.

You may sit quietly in your seat and make pleasant conversation with other passengers, if necessary.

You may not try to get into the back seat because you saw your friend playing crouching tiger, hidden naggin.

You may keep your shoes on at all times, no matter what.

You may not pull off your stilettos, rest your manky feet on the dashboard and make puppy-dog faces at the driver about all your owie’s.

You may ask your driver if he’s been busy because this is what grown-ups do.

You may not hug your driver and ask if he wants a nightcap in yours because you stole whisky from the pub.

You may gather all your belongings and swiftly exit the taxi, being sure to close the door with reasonable force.

You may not accuse your driver of stealing your lipgloss…your phone…and your scarf, and then slam the door after twenty minutes of ridiculous threats.

Stick to these guidelines girls, and you’ll be hailing, chatting and tipping like a pro in no time.

Taxi!
