Buying presents for the lad in our life isn’t exactly a walk in the park.

If we’re not marching into town obediently to buy them something they’ve explicitly asked for (and where’s the fun in that?) we’re standing over the likes of Call Of Duty in a state of confusion.

So to help you actually enjoy Christmas shopping for the prince of your heart, the apple of your eye, here are seven pretty awesome ideas:

1. A glamping trip

This is a great one, because you, ahm, get the benefit of it too. For a present that’s a bit out of the norm, book a cosy, romantic night’s stay for two in one of Ireland’s many glampsites (that’s a glam campsite to you and me).

2. A new skill

Look at you trying to change your man! We joke, we joke. If your fella has always wanted to learn a new skill, be it a language, something technical, or even a new sport, make it happen by buying him an evening course as a Christmas present.

3. Something… nostalgic

Is your boyfriend a big LEGO fan? Was there a computer game he loved as a child? Or did he always want a model of the Millennium Falcon for Christmas, but never got it? Do a bit of digging and you could surprise him with a much loved item he won’t be expecting.

4. A new ‘do

If your guy has been considering trying out a new hairstyle, why not gift him with a voucher for a hip salon? And if the voucher feels too impersonal, you can add in some cool hair products for him to open on Christmas morning. We love the supercool, retro packaging of the Pomp & Co. range – and it’s Irish.

5. A personalised print

If your boyf is the arty, sentimental type, he would love a quirky drawing of the two of you as a pressie. Check out Etsy or Not On The Highstreet – there are heaps of illustrators on there that you can commission to make your own unique print.

6. The gift of fitness

Is your fella mad into fitness? There are heaps of different ideas you can play around with here, like some personal training sessions or a specialised bootcamp, or if you’re feeling more flush, a gym membership for the year.

7. Something leather

Gifting quality leather goods is a no-brainer for a fashion-conscious chap. They useful, stylish and they last forever. Our top picks? A leather hold-all, a nerd-chic leather satchel briefcase, or if the funds are low, a washbag.

We've all been there, you have a nice new pair of socks and after a few washes one of them magically disappears.

You might even have a pile in your room of odd socks that lost their sister socks. And for years we have all wondered, WHERE DO THEY GO?!

Sure, you might have dropped one on your way back from the dryer, but you would have come across it eventually, right?

Well… No. If this video is anything to go by, they got sucked up by a vortex, never to be seen again:

Missing socks

Where do missing socks go?

We just can't believe we never knew this after YEARS of losing socks.

We all know Netflix has totally changed the way we watch TV, but even with that, it wants to go one step further.

Yep, our beloved Netflix has teamed up with streaming website, Deeplocal, to invent a new DIY project… and it's what we've all been waiting for.

Socks that pause your show when you fall asleep. Genius, right? It's a bit techy so we'll let Netflix explain their new project:

"An accelerometer detects when you've stopped moving for a prolonged period of time and triggers a signal to your TV that pauses Netflix.

"When it detects that you've dozed off, an LED light in the cuff of the sock flashes red, warning that the pause signal is about to be sent to your TV. Any motion will stop it from firing.

"The accelerometer is very sensitive to little movements, so it's good at detecting when you're just sitting still, raptly watching Netflix, and when you've actually fallen asleep."

Now, it's a DIY project, which you can see here, so you will have to put together the socks yourself, but don't worry as all it is is a little bit of knitting and electronics.

We're sure you'll be grand.

She certainly is unstoppable!

Yesterday, Rihanna unveiled her new autumn collection for Stance

The collections consists of 15 different styles of socks that have a Baby Goth Punk theme… Interesting.

As the brand's Contributing Creative Director, Rihanna oversaw the creation of the campaign photo shoot.

The campaign features five models, all wearing identical Sia-esque pastel wigs. They mostly wear plain black or white outfits to show-off the fancy and daring socks.

Candy Harris, Vice President of the Women's Division at Stance said in a press release that the collection is a look into Rihanna's personality.

"This collection and campaign give people a peek into all sides of her personality, from the novelty of the toe socks to the hard edge of the punk prints."

"I think the creative really showcases what fashion is to her. It's meant to be bold, it's meant to be fun, and it's meant to be expressive."

Behind-the-scenes is really where the magic takes place:

We're having a major love-in with Penneys lately.

Its autumn stock as just landed – and contains a number of key, killer capes, boots, hats and jewellery that we're coveting until pay-day.

But the retailer also does fun and funky accessories rather well – and when we spotted these AMAZING socks, well, let's just say that we'll be stocking up (socking up?) with at least one pair in each design.

Costing just €3, the items feature either a Mean Girls or Clueless motif, and come in a soft pastel hue.

Two relevant catch-phrases – "On Wednesdays we wear pink," and "Ugh as if," also adorn the socks.

And we reckon for an added spring in our step, slipping these on under winter boots would be just as much fun as wearing them around the house.
