Many of us out there will have been given perfume for Christmas while many lucky women already have their ‘signature scent’ chosen – but are we applying our perfume all wrong?

Do you spray your scent on one wrist and then rub it off the other one? All wrong apparently! Do you spray your perfume AFTER you get dressed? Wrong too!

So then, what is the right way to apply your scent and have it last? Here are some tips and advice!

  • Apply your perfume before you put on clothes or jewellery. Not only will the scent absorb into your skin rather than your clothes but you will minimise the risk of staining jewellery and clothes with the perfume.
  • Apply the perfume to your pulse points without rubbing motions: wrists, neck, inside elbow and the back of the knees. It’s advisable to choose two of the pulse points to spritz rather than becoming overpowered by the scent.
  • Your hair can be a great place to spritz some perfume as it is said it hold the scent quite well. However, if you have dry or brittle hair make sure not to overdo it.
  • Your perfume has an expiration date -about a year or so. If you notice a change in how the top notes smell, unfortunately it may be time to bin it. The shelf life of your scent may be altered by how it is stored so ensure it's not in direct sunlight for much of the day.

Use these tips and you will smell like heaven all day, every day – without making your co-workers choke!

Lady Gaga is certainly not known for doing things in half measures. The Born This Way singer, is reportedly releasing a new fragrance that she describes as being: “An extremely sexy and arousing smell for all genders. Alluring and ready for sex.”

Eau de Gaga apparently has hints of sparkling water, lime and leather and, according to Gaga, is inspired by "the adventurous woman and the man who loves her". So, basically she was inspired by sex – we’re sure it will smell lovely…

Mother Monster released a teaser on Instagram yesterday with a photo of herself surrounded by naked men. She captioned the snap: "Eau De Gaga coming soon"

She also took to Twitter to confirm she would be releasing a second fragrance.

Her first perfume, Fame, sold six million bottles in the first week so her new one has a lot to live up to.

It’s always the way, you spritz on some perfume before you leave the house but by the time you get to the bus stop, it’s already gone.

Cue you pulling out your giant perfume bottle from your bag, no doubt getting someone in the eye as you spray it around your head.

However, French designer Julien Cohen may have the solution to our perfume woes.

Instead of carrying a big bottle of perfume around with us, Julien has designed jewellery that acts like a teeny tiny bottle.

Talking about his OBO range, Julien says it means “perfume, anytime and anywhere”.

In case you were worried about spilling a little of your perfume onto your top, Julien assures that the jewellery has undergone extensive leak-proof tests: “The perfume is leak-proof and it has been tested under high pressures to ensure that our roll-on gives the same results as a classic pump dispenser.”

The dispensers come in a variety of jewellery styles including bracelets and necklaces so no more whipping your bottle of scent out of your bag, now you can subtly reapply your perfume and no body need ever know!

It’s not that long since Rihanna decided to reveal a little too much with her see through dress at the CFDAs on Monday.

But now the singer is at the centre of another controversy, as its been revealed that her perfume advert has now been banned in the UK.

The ad features Rihanna in a topless pose curled up against a giant bottle of perfume with a pair of heels.

The ad has been taken down in public areas in the UK where children could possibly see them. The British Advertising Standards Authority said that Rihanna’s pose could be considered “sexually suggestive” by some.

But we doubt Rihanna isn’t worried too much about her ad being banned, as the singer wasn’t even bothered by comments surrounding her CFDA ensemble!

And to prove how much she didn’t care about the comments, she decided to change her profile picture of Family Guy character Peter Griffin, who happens to be wearing the same controversial CFDA dress.

Oh Rihanna, you always have the best comebacks!

As soon as celebs hit the big time (well kind of!) their next big step, it seems, is to launch a perfume – Katie Price has done it, Kim Kardashian has three and Paris Hilton has ten!

The latest reality star to add to the list of perfume launches is TOWIE’s Sam Faiers, who has released her very first perfume, La Bella.

According to Sam, the scent is based on her personal favourite smell – vanilla! But also contains “elegant iris flower and benzoin at the heart”

Talking about her scent, the Essex girl said: “I didn’t want to simply put my name to something, like a lot of celebrities do, that’s not the direction I want to go.”

The star has secretly been wearing her perfume before its release in June and it seems like it is already a hit as Sam admits to receiving “so many compliments”.

The 23-year-old already co-owns boutique, Minnie’s, so, even though she is set to quit the hit show at the end of the series, she definitely won’t be sitting around twiddling her thumbs.

Spring is now in full swing so it is a good time to invest in a new perfume that will ensure you put a little spring in your step.

Here are three great scents to go for this new season:

Blooming Bouquet, Miss Dior
This floral scent has essences of mandarin, white musk and the rose Damascus to really make you feel like spring is finally here.

Cherry Blossom, Guerlain
A tribute to the symbol of spring – the cherry blossom – this perfume mixes cherry, lilac and jasmine to create a beautiful fresh scent. The pretty bottle will make you want to carry it around with you every where you go. Unfortunately, it is only available exclusively from Harrods so you might just have to make a trip to London if you want this.

Daisy Eau So Fresh Delight, Marc Jacobs
The charming Daisy Eau So Fresh Delight has been launched in collaboration with Coty. The fragrance has a soft, fruity floral scent that lingers on the skin after just a few spritz.

As you know, there’s a very fine line between sexy and tacky. Some women can get away with looking sexy by showing a bit of skin, while others look sexier when they cover up some more. Either way, you need to know your body shape and what you can or cannot get away with.

Here are some guidelines to help you look sexy without being tacky:

DO make sure you wear clothes that are suited to the shape and size of your body. Sexy is the last thing they’ll see if you’re bulging out of your clothes.

DON’T go overboard with the make-up. If you want heavy eye make-up, then go light on the lips and vice versa.

DO dress for the weather. A mini skirt in the freezing cold is far from sexy.

DON’T forget use chewing gum and perfume (especially if you’re a smoker). There’s nothing more off-putting than the scent of cigarettes left on hair and clothes.

DO walk with confidence.

DON’T overdo it with the fake tan. Keep it as natural as possible.
