The Fujifilm instax mini Evo 2 Is the Upgrade We’ve Been Waiting For

by

There’s something genuinely lovely about a physical photo. Not a screen, not a shared album you’ll never look at again — an actual printed picture you can stick on the fridge or hand to a granny. And Fujifilm has just announced the newest version of one of its best-loved cameras to make exactly that kind of moment a whole lot easier to capture.

The Fujifilm instax mini Evo 2™ hybrid instant camera was announced this week, and it’s a proper upgrade on the original instax mini Evo™ — which already had quite the fanbase. Think retro styling, instant prints and now a whole suite of new features that make it genuinely exciting for anyone who loves photography but doesn’t want to faff around with editing apps at 11pm when the kids are finally in bed.

What’s new with the Evo 2?

The biggest visible change is a new 4.5-inch LCD touchscreen, which makes composing shots and adjusting settings far more intuitive. If you’ve ever squinted through a tiny viewfinder while simultaneously trying to stop a toddler from wandering out of frame, you’ll appreciate this.

There’s also a new instax Expanded View™ feature, which shows you a wider field of view than the actual shooting area — so you can see more of the scene and compose your shot with a bit more thought. No more chopping someone’s head off in the Christmas photo and only realising after it’s already printed.

The feature that might be the real talking point, though, is instax Immersive Movie™. This records the four seconds leading up to each photo you take — capturing the chaos, the laughter, the “nearly there” moment before the picture is snapped. It does require a microSD card (sold separately) but for anyone who’s ever wished they’d caught what happened just before the perfect shot, it’s a brilliant idea.

The creative options are genuinely impressive

Beyond the headline features, the Evo 2 has 10 lens effects and 10 film effects — giving you 100 possible combinations to play with. There’s a macro mode for close-up shots, adjustable exposure, white balance and flash, and a built-in selfie mirror. You can choose between instax-Rich Mode™ for vivid, punchy colour or instax-Natural Mode™ for something that looks a bit more classic and timeless.

It connects to the free instax mini Evo™ app on your smartphone — which lets you print photos from your phone directly to the camera, and even control the camera remotely. The app is required to use those features, and your smartphone isn’t included (obviously), but it’s a nice bit of flexibility for anyone who wants to print that one brilliant shot they already took on their phone.

It charges via USB Type-C and prints those gorgeous little 2″ x 3″ instax™ mini instant photos — the same format fans of the range already know and love. Instax™ mini instant film is sold separately.

Karina Thomsen, Marketing Director for European Consumer Imaging at FUJIFILM Europe, said: “The instax mini Evo™ is one of our most-loved cameras. With Evo 2, we’ve built on what people love about the original — refining the design and adding new features that bring even more creative freedom to photo and video. It’s a fresh way to experiment, express yourself and turn everyday moments into something uniquely yours.”

When can you get it and how much will it cost?

The Fujifilm instax mini Evo 2™ is expected to be available from Fujifilm stockists nationwide at the end of November 2026, priced at €270. It comes with a shoulder strap, USB Type-C cable and a quick start guide, along with a one-year limited warranty.

It would make a genuinely beautiful Christmas gift — for a photography lover, a teenager who’s into that whole retro-aesthetic trend, or honestly just yourself. There’s no rule against treating yourself to something this good-looking.
