Loose Women

Kelly Brook is facing criticism for comments made on yesterday's Loose Women.

The model suggested that women who are 'silly drunk' place themselves in danger of being attacked by taxi drivers and members of the public.

Her statements have been accused of victim blaming.

'If you're drunk, if you've had a few drinks, you're so vulnerable, your guard is down, you just want to get home, and I think lots of young girls put themselves in that situation, and I just think if you are in that situation, just call somebody,' she said.

'Don't get in a cab, don't get on a train – you could get attacked on a train, walking home.'

When asked if Kelly herself would get a taxi home after a night out (as her brother is studying to be a taxi driver), Brook replied: 'Well, I wouldn't go out and get silly drunk.'

'You're in a very vulnerable state, it's late at night, you've had a few drinks, you are just a target for anyone who is going to do that,' she continued, according to The Sun.

'Whether it is a taxi driver – I'm not just blaming taxi drivers – it can be someone else on a night out, you are just vulnerable.'

'You've had a drink, it's late at night, you are a young woman, call someone you can trust and can give you advice on how to get home, I think that's the best thing to do.'

Her comments were met with backlash from viewers.

'As a rape victim your comments on #LooseWomen were appalling.'

'You seemed to blame the victims. Hope it never happens to you!' said one viewer.

If the Loose Women team had set out to offend their viewers, they did a pretty good job of it yesterday.

Using their Facebook page to initiate debate on a variety of topics, the team yesterday decided to dedicate one post to 'gay best friends'.

And suffice to say, their approach to the matter did not go down well with thousands of their followers.

"Should every woman have a gay best friend?" they asked. "A new study has found that becoming friends with gay men may be a key part of women's ‘mating strategies’ by making them less threatening to other women – and more appealing to straight men."

"Do you think every woman should have a male gay best friend? Why do you think a friendship between a woman and a gay man is so special?" they asked in a move which resulted in serious backlash online.

Accusing the team of reducing gay men to little more than accessories, one Facebook user wrote: "Always love a good bit of casual homophobia from you lot."

"Belive it or not we are people and not just an "accessory", he continued. "How would you like it if it was "a menopausal best friend'? Absolute jokes."

"Please delete this question. This is disgusting and should not be endorsed by a national TV programme," added another.

"You should be ashamed of yourself. I'm no woman's 'gay best friend'. My sexuality has nothing to do with my freindship with anyone," he finished. (sic)

"Do you think every woman should have a male best friend?" Were they for REAL with that one?

Former X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson was in tears today as she admitted in a live broadcast that she was sexually abused as a child.

Appearing on ITV's Loose Women, she told the panel that she was just eight years old and living in a children's home when the abuse took place.

The 30-year-old mother-of-three revealed: "I've never said this – this is really weird," before adding: "I've never spoken about it. I told one friend, but – as I've launched a website – this is the perfect place to speak about it.

"That is what I'm trying to do, make a safe place where women can speak about their problems."

Rebecca continued: "It affects your esteem – how you allow yourself to be treated by men, how you feel about yourself and what you expect to be treated like."

The singer, who finished in the runner-up spot during the 2010 series of X Factor then revealed that it's taken her "years" to build up her self-esteem and she "didn't receive any counselling".

She may have looked like she was doing a good job defending her life choices while appearing on Loose Women in May, but it seems Charlotte Crosby was simply doing an amazing job at keeping her composure.

Opening up about the interview which saw her discuss her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery with the show's panellists, Charlotte admitted that she found the experience incredibly traumatic.

"It was a horrible experience," she told New magazine. "I cried before and afterwards. It was awful."

The former Geordie Shore star admitted that she had reservations before going on set – something which she confided to Carol McGiffin – but put her best foot forward regardless.

"I spoke about it with Carol McGiffin beforehand. I said, 'I'm so worried about Janet'." the 26-year-old reality star admitted.

"I knew what was going to happen. I knew I was going to be judged because I'd had a nose job and scrutinised and basically picked on by Janet Street-Porter."

"Then my thought came true," Charlotte said. "Before I went on, my whole body was shaking. I would never in a million years go back on that show because it was a horrific ordeal."

Taking aim at the women who hosted the show that day, Charlotte simply said: "I was bullied. I'm never going on again in my life. I hated it."

We don't imagine Janet will take that accusation lying down.

While her ex-husband appears to have found humour in the whole incident, two members of the Loose Women panel are struggling to hide their disdain regarding Millie Mackinstosh's decision to destroy her wedding dress.

The former Made in Chelsea star made headlines last week after it was revealed she ruined the Grace Loves Lace gown she wore to wed rapper Professor Green in 2013.

According to the press, the reality star shredded her dress and covered it in blood as a Halloween stunt – something which Janet Street Porter and Ruth Langsford are struggling to get their heads around.

Discussing Millie's decision on yesterday's episode of the show, Janet didn't hold back, saying: "It’s horrible to make a statement like that, it’s childish."

Chiming in with her co-presenter, Ruth agreed and added: "I don’t like the idea of trashing a dress for anything."

In contrast, Millie's ex didn't appear to have a problem with the stunt, recently telling Phillip Schofield that he's just glad she got some more use out of it.

"At least she got to wear it again! It's hers to do what she wants with. If you can’t have a sense of humour. Divorce is horrible but if you can’t look back at your marriage with any kindness then it was a mistake." he told This Morning viewers.

Millie and Professor Green called time on their relationship in February of this year.

A lot of celebs come and go on Loose Women, but now Jamelia has been axed after two years of being a panelist.

According to The Sun, the singer "offended" the show's bosses earlier this year during a debate, and because of it they let her go.

In the debate, she made comments about high street shops, which "annoyed" the show's runners.

A source told the publication:  “Jamelia really annoyed bosses with her comments on high street shops selling bigger clothes.

“The show is often close to the bone but those comments were the final straw.

“Loose Women’s viewers come in all shapes and sizes and the producers don’t want them to be offended," the source added.

For a woman so in tune with social media, it seems hard to believe that Geordie Shore's Marnie didn't anticipate the speculation which would ensue when she made the decision to delete all trace of her boyfriend Lewis Bloor from her Instagram page.

Marnie, who got together with Lewis during Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, decided to address the rumours that she and the TOWIE star had split during an appearance on Loose Women today.

Dismissing the reports that she and Lewis had called time on her romance, Marnie admitted that while they are finding their long-distance relationship difficult, they are still very much together.

"It’s really really tough just because we live so far away from each other.” Marnie admitted. "We’re working through it. It’s hard."

Acknowledging the fall-out from her social media move, Marnie appeared to regret deleting the photos, saying: "We had an argument and I went and deleted every single picture of him off Instagram.”

“I forget everyone’s looking and I thought, ‘Why have I done that?’ Like, now I’ve put so much pressure on us," she added.

And Lewis didn't help matters either after tweeting a message which appeared to suggest he was content with developments, writing: "One door closes another one opens that's how life works."

Keeping us on our toes there, guys.

She's back on this side of the Atlantic – and today Cher Lloyd made a welcomed appearance on ITV's Loose Women.

In fact the petite singer, who has had a string of chart hits since she first found fame on The X Factor back in 2010, revealed that it's been a full two YEARS since she first packed up and moved Stateside.

And the impact of her American beauty regime could today be seen to full effect.

Indeed, fellow panellist Martine McCutcheon couldn't help but comment how the 23-year-old looked "stunning".

Fans and viewers at home, however, felt that her look was striking for one reason alone – namely that she and her former reality TV show mentor and one-time nemesis Cheryl Cole have now largely morphed into the same person.

From the glossy mane of brunette tresses to the mega-white teeth, make-up, high cheek bones and sun-kissed skin – the resemblance was certainly uncanny.

Previously close, Cheryl and Cher had a famous falling out in 2012 when the latter said she would only sing a duet with the former if "she sang live" without the help of Auto-Tune.

Afterwards, Ms Cole angrily tweeted: "Be careful who you kick on your way up. They kick you twice as hard on your way back down. #unappreciationisugly," later admitting in an interview that the jibe was a "slap in the face".

It is an issue that Loose Women's Janet Street Porter gently asked about today: "Cheryl; have you made up with her?" the journalist said.

To which the popstar replied: "Oh yeah, we made up ages ago. I had gotten married and she tweeted me. And then when she got married and I tweeted her."

Although when pushed on whether the duo would be meeting up, a smiling Ms Lloyd stated diplomatically; "I'd hope to bump into her. It would be nice to bump into her."

If recent reports were to be believed, Vicky Pattison's past had officially come back to haunt her as she struggled to hold onto her position on Loose Women panel due to excessive partying.

With Vicky set to leave the show, insiders sent the rumourmill into overdrive as they hinted that Vicky just didn't have the work etiquette required to hold down the position on the popular afternoon show.

"She’s a real party animal and seemed much more focused on nights out, which could sometimes impact her commitment to the show." a source told The Sun.

"It’s a full time job and with her diary the way it is, Vicky was finding it increasingly hard to fit it in and devote her full attention to it," they added, and Vicky is not having it.

Taking to Twitter today, the former Geordie Shore star dismissed the allegations and insisted that her contract with the show had simply run its course.

"Regardless of what may have incorrectly reported about me, I would like to set the record straight: I've loved my time on @loosewomen but it was only a summer contract and now I'm having some time off before I start some big & exciting projects this Autumn," she told followers today.

"My relationship with all the @loosewomen, the team and @ITV is still great and we all tried to clarify the truth before this story was printed however we were ignored."

"Anyway, THANK YOU all for the sweet messages- and I'm sure I'll pop back to see the ladies again!" Vicky wrote before promoting a This Morning segment which she'll be appearing in alongside fellow reality star Ferne McCann.

So that's that, then.

Vicky Pattison might be well known for her ballsy on-screen persona, but the Queen of the Jungle revealed today that, just like everyone else, she can be her own worst critic.

According to Celebs Now, the former Geordie Shore cast member burst into tears as she shared with the Loose Women panel her battles with self-scutiny.

As part of this afternoon's show, Vicky had to listen back to a pre-recorded clip of herself as she voiced some of the negative thoughts she has about herself and, understandably, the experience was an emotional one for the reality star.

Vicky was reduced to tears as she heard herself saying: “What are you doing here?  You’re not as good as everyone else.”

The tape also revealed how the Newcastle native compares herself to other women and tells herself she’s doomed to fail.

She said: “Look at them – everyone’s so clever and glamorous.”

“They’re thinking, ‘Who are you, what are you doing here?’”

“Just make it easier and go now.  You’re gonna fail and everyone’s gonna laugh.”

Vicky went on to explain that she experiences such negative thoughts every day and admitted she tries hard to act like people’s comments don’t affect her but in reality they do.

She also confessed that her insecurities are only made worse by the comments she receives on social media.

She said: “People tear strips off the way you look, which is never nice. I get everything – people say I don’t deserve to be where I am because of my past.”

Since the show aired, Vicky has received a stream of online support with women admitting they love and admire her and encouraging her not to give in to the negativity which at times surrounds her.

The Geordie thanked her fans by tweeting: "So overwhelmed by all your amazing support and messages after my appearance on this afternoon's @loosewomen.. It was a tough one for me!"

Some women swear by the three date rule – but not Vogue Williams.

The model – who recently moved to the UK – told the Loose Women panel today that although she’s aware of the ‘rules of dating’, they just aren’t for her.

Using her former relationship with Westlife singer Brian McFadden as an example, Vogue admitted:  “Me and Brian did hanky panky on the first night we met and we ended up getting married.”

When the panel expressed interest in her comment, Vogue joked: “It worked out well for a while.”

But admitted she wouldn’t always sleep with someone on the first date as “it just depends on the situation”.

She said: “I wouldn’t be making a habit of it, obviously, because I wouldn’t be really like that.  I’m quite shy.”

When asked to address rumours surrounding her alleged romantic involvement with rapper Professor Green, Vogue said although she has a lot of mutual friends with the star, they are not an item.

The TV personality married singer Brian McFadden in 2012, a year after they first met.

Last year the pair separated and Vogue has admitted that while at first she found being single difficult, she’s now really enjoying her independence.

Remember all those times your teacher told you not to swing on your chair, but you ignored her because aint no one gonna tell YOU what to do, right?

Well, it looks like John Barrowman could have done with a reminder on that front if his latest trip to the Loose Women set is anything to go by.

Appearing on the popular panel show in an effort to prove that men can rock a pair of heels just as well as us ladies, the actor showcased his stilettos before tipping backwards off his stool.

It looked like the Dr. Who star may have tried to shake it off before realising there was no getting away with this one, so he simply laid his heads in his hands and thought about what he just did…on national television.

Kudos to Andrea McLean and her snarky one-liner at 00.40.
