ice-cream

Between choosing between an ice cold vat of gin or an ice cream on a hot summer day, the millennial struggle can be real.

But what if we told you that there was a famous little ice cream shop in the Emerald Isle that served up a combination of the two?

Murphys Ice Cream is based both on Main Street in Killarney and on Shop Street in Galway city, and the soft-serve shop is slaying when it comes to flavours.

The innovative ice cream parlour has come up with a way of combining luscious lashings of Dingle gin to the frozen treat, and we're here for the flavour to trump all flavours.

Reviews of the shop rave about the gin ice cream, and we're dying to try it out for ourselves.

As well as gin, Murphys is offering amazing flavour combos like Irish coffee with whiskey, Dingle sea salt and caramelised brown bread.

Take all our money, like, now.

Social media has gone slightly crazy over the discovery of black ice cream.

Yep, an ice cream shop in LA has created this sweet treat and it's nearly as good as when the black heart emoji first debuted.

Little Damage specialises in homemade soft-serve ice cream (basically a 99) and the Almond Charcoal flavour even comes with a black waffle cone.

Taking a sneaky look through their Instagram, they even have something called Unicorn Tears, and we're very intrigued.

Trip to LA anyone?

Ever wanted to swim in a sea of rainbow sprinkles? Fancy licking sweetie flavoured wallpaper á la Willy Wonka? Do you harbour a serious ice-cream obsession?

Well, now you can indulge in all your candy-coloured fantasies – at the same time and in the same place.

A museum of ice cream has just opened in LA and tickets are already sold out for the next month.

There are even giant gummy bears.

Friends, Maryellis Bunn and Manish Vora opened the exhibit, currently in downtown Los Angeles, which also includes a pool filled with 100 million sprinkles.

According to reports, it is three feet deep and can fit about a dozen people at a time, however we're not sure we'd fancy getting sprinkles stuck in our clothes.

As well as giant lolly pop props and sprinkle pools, guests are also served everything from breakfast-themed ice-cream sandwiches and mint macarons.

Tickets can be bought online but are sold out until June. The friends plan to bring the exhibition to more cities.

Yep, you read that right. An actual ice cream festival is coming to Dublin and we couldn't be more excited.

Taking inspiration from the UK's Ice Cream Festival, the two-day event is expected to take Irish desserts to the next level.

As well as being able to sample local produce, there will also be a comfy lounge area and DJ, so you can relax to "summer beats and many freezing specials."

The festival will take place on August 12 and 13, yet the location and exact times are to be announced.

And with all this chat about sweet, tasty ice cream, we decided to count down our top 5 desserts across Ireland:

5. Fallon & Byrne's vegan dark chocolate coconut mousse

And with gingerbread pudding too, this dessert not only looks amazing, but tastes great too.

There is nothing better than free food, but a free ice cream is the stuff of dreams.

Ben & Jerry's is treating us today with Free Cone Day, the most mythical of all confectionery holidays.

"Every time you enjoy a scoop of Ben & Jerry's, you're showing us how much you care," reads the ice cream site.

"We love you too, and Free Cone Day is our favourite way to show it!"

"This year's extravaganza will be taking place on Tuesday, April 4, so be sure to mark your calendars and grab your friends!"

If this is an April Fool's joke we're going to be very annoyed…

HB Ice Cream has announced today that we can say so-long to the Iceberger, because apparently, they're being discontinued.

Yep, shock, horror.

A spokesperson for the company said today: “It’s with regret that we say goodbye to this all-time classic – the decision to delist Iceberger is one we know will sadden ice cream lovers across Ireland.

"Icebergers will be available in select stores nationwide for a limited time only until stocks last.”

We literally can't…

Harry Potter fans have often wondered what the delicious sounding Butterbeer beverage from the Hog's Head tasted like.

Or at least, we have anyway.

The Warner Brother studios in London made muggles dreams come true by creating the drink, and now Butterbeer ice cream has appirated into existence.

Yuengling's ice cream have brought out a Butterbeer flavour of their delightful frozen treat, and we're pretty much drooling.

"Have you heard the news!? Butterbeer and Strawberry are our new flavors for 2017!" reads a post on the brand's Instagram.

"Indulge on Butterbeer Ice Cream, made from half butter cream ice cream, half butterscotch ice cream with a butterscotch swirl."

It's made up of half buttercream ice cream and half butterscotch ice cream, and sounds completely delish.

Unfortunately it's currently only available in America, but hopefully their trend will catch on here ASAP.

Urban Bourbon? Sign us up!

Yep, Ben & Jerry's might be releasing a boozy ice cream flavour, and we are so up for it.

Urban Bourbon consists of caramel ice cream, almonds, fudge flakes, and obvs, a few shots of caramel bourbon.

The Instagram account, Candy Hunting is famous for having the inside scoop (heh heh) on upcoming sweets and treats, and according to them, the flavour will be released in the next few months.

Now, Ben & Jerry's hasn't confirmed anything just yet, but as THRILLIST points out, the ice cream company applied to trademark the name Urban Bourbon a couple of months ago aaaand Walmart has also set up a black landing page to purchase it.

Oh, Ben and Jerry, why do you tease us?!

Ice cream is one of our favourite treats here in Shemazing! HQ. Even though it's frozen, it's one of the most perfect comfort foods out there.

One of our fave brands is Ben & Jerry's, mainly because of their weird but wonderful flavour concoctions – but now the brand has moved up to the top of our list because it's just released a new flavour that is all kinds of gorgeous.

One Sweet World combines Fairtrade caramel and coffee ice cream with marshmallows, caramel swirls and chucky chocolate ampersands (&).

The new batch has come about because of it's new campaign aiming to bring people from all walks of life together.

The company has said of the new flavour: "With our latest campaign being all about coming together, it only felt right to create a chunk inspired by the '&'s' from our very own name – one we like to think of as a symbol of togetherness and unity!

"Like many people, we've become increasingly concerned by the pockets of fear and prejudice emerging within our society. And, unlike ice cream, this simply isn't cool!

"We think it's time to take a stand against division and to celebrate what unites our communities, so we've partnered with civil-rights charity HOPE not hate, to bring people together in the name of unity and compassion!"

We can't wait to try it!

Our favourite flavour of Ben and Jerry's has sadly been recalled due to a possible contamination.

Tubs of Cookie Dough (yes, Cookie Dough *sob*) may contain small bits of metal inside, and the ice creams giants are asking customers to send their tubs back to the shops.

A safety notice has been issued on behalf of the company, asking people to check the batch numbers on the label.

Four different batch codes – which are on sale in Ireland and the UK – have been affected by the contamination.

The batch codes are L62110L011, L62111L011, L62112L011 and L62113L01.

This may be stating the obvious, but we are pretty major ice cream fans here at Shemazing! HQ.  And while we’ve already swooned over hangover-curing and black-coloured ice creams this summer, we have now discovered our ice cream temple of dreams.

Late last month New York’s Meatpacking district became home to what is possibly the greatest pop-up exhibition of all time as the interactive Museum of Ice Cream opened its doors.

According to Time Out, this temporary hall of frozen fame boasts a pool of sprinkles, an immersive chocolate room and an ice cream sandwich swingset.

You can find your perfect flavour during an ice cream tasting session or, if you’re feeling a bit techy, you can meet your match in an ice cream themed Tinder Land.

Unfortunately this food lover’s dream is only open ‘til September, but fingers crossed the exhibition will become a permanent fixture so that next time you take a trip stateside you too can swim in a pool of sprinkles.
