Danielle Lloyd has been sharing an insight into how she feels about not being able to have any more children due to a recent health scare.

The former Miss England model was diagnosed with endometriosis earlier this year after she had a ‘heartbreaking’ cancer scare.

Following her diagnosis, doctors advised Danielle that she would potentially need a hysterectomy and the mum-of-five has now opened up about coming to terms with not being able to expand her family further.

Danielle already shares 13-year-old Archie, 12-year-old Harry and 10-year-old George with her ex-husband Jamie O’Hara. She is also mum to six-year-old Ronnie and 22-month old Autumn, whom she shares with second husband Michael O’Neill.

While speaking to OK!, Lloyd has shared details of her endometrial cancer scare now that she received the all-clear and opened up about her experience with endometriosis.

“I’m doing OK. That was such a scary time and I’ve still got all the symptoms and side effects of what’s going on, mostly a severe level of pain”.

“Anyone with endometriosis will tell you, it’s not just like period pain, it’s pains shooting down your legs, awful cramps, heavy bleeding and exhaustion”.

“I’m still waiting for my endometrial ablation and sterilisation, but I think as soon as that’s done, I’ll feel so much better”.

Revealing her reaction to not being able to have more little ones, Danielle admitted, “The older Autumn gets, the more I’m starting to think that phase in life has passed me anyway”.

“But I’m so thankful for the kids I’ve got. It’s sad, but I know I’m done now”.

The former model went on to say, “I’d always thought about adopting but, realistically, I’ve got no room at the inn any more. I’d have to get a double decker bus to drive them all round”.

When previously speaking out about her health scare when she was awaiting test results during the summer, Danielle chatted about the prospects of not having more children in the future.

“The doctor has advised me not to have any more children and whatever the results, I have thickening of the womb, which can eventually lead to cancer anyway”.

She continued, “I’ve spoken to a few friends and they were like, ‘Oh God, are you ready to go through menopause?’ But at the end of the day, I do have five kids, which I’m thankful for”.

“In some ways it is heartbreaking; I sometimes can’t imagine never having a little baby again”.

Scarlett Moffatt has been opening up about her appreciation for her postpartum body.

The former Gogglebox star welcomed the birth of her first child, a baby boy named Jude, with her partner Scott Dobinson back in June.

As she settles into life as a mum-of-one, Scarlett has shared an inspirational message about how much she loves her body after welcoming her son into the world.

Admitting that she wishes she appreciated her body more before she was pregnant, the 32-year-old spoke to Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast.

Scarlett revealed, “I literally see my body as a different entity now, like even now, honestly, because a lot of my friends were saying, you know, it can feel quite hard after you've had a baby because your body changes so much”.

“And I think listening to your podcast and watching a lot of sort of motivational women talking about sort of bodies after you've given birth”.

The former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here winner went on to explain, “I've got a lot of stretch marks on my tummy. Honestly, I actually love them. I never thought I’d say that. Like I look at them and I just think it sort of looks like the inside of a tree”.

“Yeah, I feel like Mother Nature, like, this is so amazing. And before, even sometimes, like out of the bath I'd run past the mirror if I was getting out the bath and I'd be like, ‘Uh’”.

“Whereas now I feel like I look at my body naked a lot more than I ever looked at it before”.

Scarlett then added, “It's just so amazing and I wish, actually I'd appreciated my body a lot more before I was pregnant”.

Many listeners of the podcast shared their delight at hearing Scarlett’s positive comments during her chat with Giovanna in the comments of the Happy Mum Happy Baby’s Instagram.

One fan wrote, “This was a great podcast. Such a happy positive person”.

“What a beautiful way to describe your stretch marks @scarlettmoffatt huge congratulations on your beautiful son and welcome to motherhood”, penned a second listener.

Another fan added, “So well said both of you”.

After welcoming baby Jude into the world, Scarlett penned a heartfelt tribute for her son that reads, “My darling boy I can’t stop crying looking at you as I can’t quite believe you’re mine. You wanted to meet us early at just 35 weeks”.

“Me & your daddy love you so much that I can’t even put this feeling into words. Our heart and soul feels complete & ready to burst. I will forever and always be grateful to be your mammy”.

“I tried to resuscitate him – mouth to mouth – and I was compressing him. I was screaming for my neighbour because I didn't want to leave him and call 911, and I just kept at it until they took him away”.

Now that Autumn is here, our mani colour palette is doing its customary seasonal shift away from neon’s and pastels. And if you were to hazard a guess at which shades are swapping in, you'd be correct at naming deep berries, browns and dark tones – but they're joined by more unusual shades and finishes (think nudes, mattes and metallics).

To get inspired for the upcoming season, check out the biggest nail trends with the help of Sally Hansen to recreate these looks at home.

Glossy Navy

The cool girl shade this season is glossy navy. True, it's seasonless and works well all year round, but it really comes into its own if you're after something dramatic but classic in the Autumn.

Get the Look with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Midnight Drive (RRP €6.99/£4.99). Insta-Dri dries in 60 seconds and requires just a single step so you can take that nail look to-go anytime, anywhere. Formulated with a base and top coat for extended wear and full-coverage, streak-free shine.

Milky Nails

A flattering neutral manicure is a forever classic, this trend isn’t going anywhere. And in the transitional seasons it goes with any outfit even as the weather fluctuates and it’s hard to figure out what to wear. The neutral manicure of the moment almost perfectly matches your complexion. Using a slightly sheer shade lets your skin tone peak through giving the illusion of a seamless match.

Get the Look with Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure. in Almond Milk (RRP €11.99/£9.99). Plant based, 100% vegan nail polish, for beautiful colour and shine without compromise.

Metallics & Chromes

Metallics and chromes with hints of gold and silver are a great way to come into the cooler months. The models on many of the A/W catwalks wore silver chrome nails, so that's pretty much confirmation that the metallic mani trend will be huge for fall 2023.

Get the Look with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Bordeaux Glow (RRP €11.99/£9.99) with Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat (RRP €11.99/£9.99). Our ultimate chip-resistant nail polish, Miracle Gel™, is patented technology for longer wear. No UV lamp required.

Café Colours

We know browns can be neutral shades, but the colour is going to be so huge this season it needs its own category. Manicures in every shade available at the coffee house will be all over the place. Plus, since there are so many variations in the café colour family you can expect brown to be the colour for monochrome swirl designs this season as well.

Get the Look with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Slick Slate or Expresso (RRP €6.99/£4.99).

Classic Dark Reds

Darker colours are always a big hit for Autumn. They’re a good transition from summer to autumn and look good against all skin tones. The traditional fall colour has surged in popularity this year so expect to see if everywhere.

Get the Look with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Wine Stock (RRP €11.99/£9.99) or Good. Kind. Pure. in Cherry Amore (RRP €11.99/£9.99).

Sally Hansen is available nationwide from all major pharmacies as well as a selection of online retail outlets.

As Autumn revives concerns around the cost of living, new insights from The Body Shop reveal how the issue is impacting people’s sense of resilience – based on conversations with over 1,000 women.

Only 14% of women consider themselves resilient, compared to 31% of men. A sense of purpose, good relationships and being kind to yourself are the best ways to stay positive, according to those surveyed.

Non-white women are more likely to call themselves resilient – at 2 in 10 (20%), compared to 14% of white women. They attribute this to feeling stronger after tough past experiences, having a strong faith, and a ‘never give up’ attitude, amongst other reasons.

4 in 10 said that a form of self care is their number one way to stay positive. Self care options include being kind to yourself, taking care of your mental health, taking care of yourself physically and having time to yourself. Men, by contrast, de-prioritised self care, with only 3 in 10 of those surveyed selecting it as the most important way to stay positive.

Moments to find self care include seeing friends and family, and sleep. For women over 35, going for a walk was also key, whilst 18-34s were more likely to choose listening to music.

Challenges to resilience

The cost of living is the top issue that tests women’s resilience, followed by wellbeing of family and friends and physical health.

Comparing yourself to others or feeling that you’re not living up to expectations appears to peak amongst Millennial women (those aged 25 -34). However, overall Millennials are shown to be a little more resilient on average (at 17%) than other age groups. Younger women are also widely concerned about mental health – chosen as the top concern amongst 18-24 year-olds and the second most important concern for those aged 25-44. Meanwhile, women aged 45+ are more likely to worry about their physical health, including peri menopause/ menopause.

Results revealed that those with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, experience far lower levels of resilience than most. The Net Resilience Scores for these individuals are 4% (those with a disability), 5% (LGBTQ+) and just 2% for Transgender women. Additionally, the survey results show that LGBTQIA+ and women with disabilities have a greater number of concerns than average, which reflects the additional barriers and challenges in day-to-day life experienced by these groups.

Living Scenarios

Women aged 15-34 living at home, and/or not living with a partner or kids, feel far less resilient than peers who are in relationships and living with their partners, with 19% of respondents giving a score of four or lower out of 10 for how resilient they feel. This is compared to only 5% of ‘Nest Builders’ (co-habiting couples without the responsibilities of having kids) giving the same lower score. 38% of ‘Nest Builders’ reported very high resilience scores of 8 out of 10.

Celebrating resilience

To champion stories of resilience, The Body Shop has launched a new song: Living Resiliently.

The track is narrated by Melanie C – whose own remarkable journey with the Spice Girls and later success as a solo artist and West End performer is testament to the importance of resilience and women supporting each other.

The lyrics feature advice for living more resiliently from 20 diverse contributors – including podcaster and mental health advocate Gemma Styles, alongside The Body Shop colleagues and members of the public. Tips shared include being kind to yourself, seeing knockbacks as a step to thriving, and using your kitchen as a disco.

You can listen to the track here.

Melanie C says, “I am delighted to be supporting The Body Shop and this exciting project supporting and inspiring women to thrive. I loved recording the soundtrack which includes quotes from The Body Shop customers across the UK sharing their tips on how to live more resiliently. These words definitely struck a chord with me, I hope they will with you too.”

The Body Shop is also bringing store colleagues, head office staff and The Body Shop at Home consultants into the heart of this campaign, working with photographer Alexandra Cameron to capture and document their own stories of resilience.

“Inner resilience is one of the most important life skills. Resilience is not about powering through and draining our resources – it’s about being kind to ourselves, creating a climate that nourishes ourselves so we can thrive. Self-care, like our daily skincare routine or getting outdoors, gives us the energy and resilience to take on life’s challenges, and is something we think should be cherished.” – Maddie Smith, Managing Director of The Body Shop in the UK & Ireland.

The research and track come as The Body Shop celebrates its bestselling Edelweiss line, which includes customers’ favourite products known for their ability to strengthen the resilience of the skin barrier. The most popular product in the range is the Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate, one of which sells every 23 seconds around the world.
