Slánlus soothing salve developed by Margaret Lynch was brewing for some time. By being creative, lured by the gifts of nature onto the path of herbal medicine.  Margaret stepped away from practising as a solicitor to pour energy and passion into her vision for a more sustainable, natural, green vibration and a better life.

The demand for the hand-crafted salves had been growing beyond family and friends so she took a deep breath and started the groundwork to bring the original offering, Slánlus, to the skincare market.  Margaret Lynch is the creator and owner of her very own green offering for those who are in need of it, to experience the power of plants.

For all to know, Slánlus means the healing herb as Gaeilge. Say it, sl-awh-n-lus, say it like your Irish ancestors are listening! Peace & plants.

Slánlus has a unique concentrated formula tried and tested to soothe and calm spots, cold sores, grazes, stings, bites (Mosquito, Bee, Wasp and Jellyfish).

Unique Formulation

  • Unique concentrated formulation process.
  • The actions of slánlus are derived from the medicinal herbs used in its creation which operate to draw out impurities and support your skin as a powerful vulnerary.

No Nasty Chemicals

  • Honesty of its four ingredients, all Irish, all organic.
  • Full compliance with HPRA, Cosmetic Product Regulations

Cult Product

  • The dabbing of the ubiquitous ‘white creme’ on spots is being replaced by this concentrated Irish organic multi-action nutritious green one.
  • For skin slugging enthusiasts, some preferring to call it a face mask.  Whatever the name you choose, it leaves skin energised and profoundly nourished as it increases collagen production and reduces inflammation.
  • It has crossed many seas and continents as a trusty mosquito bite salve.
  • Sea swimmers are using it to avoid the after-swim-chafe & or course to relieve jellyfish stings.

ACTIONS OF THE FORMULA

  • Slánlus is a concentrated soothing salve containing medicinal herbs that actively draw out impurities while also having a cooling emollient ability as it works with your skin to heal affected areas.
  • The herbal formula works quickly when applied to grazes as a styptic and a vulnerary, soothing the affected area.
  • It soothes and calms spots, acne and cold sores by drawing out impurities in the inflamed areas while working with your skin to heal.
  • If applied to a bee or wasp sting quickly (bee stinger removed), it will draw out the venom and soothe the sting area.
  • For mosquito bites – if applied promptly it will act quickly to draw out the venom and while its antihistamine ability will reduce the itching.
  • Apply it to your inner thighs or arms, it acts instantly as an anti-chafing barrier to skin-to-skin chafing.

The killer of school teacher Ashling Murphy has been given a whole life sentence for her murder.

Last year, on the afternoon of January 12, the 23-year-old was out jogging in her hometown of Tullamore, Co. Offaly when she was attacked and stabbed to death.

Last week, Jozef Puska was found guilty at Dublin’s Central Criminal Court. The jury delivered a unanimous verdict, after hearing around four weeks’ worth of evidence.

Ashling, who was a recent graduate and a talented Irish traditional musician, had never met Puska before he killed her in broad daylight.

Puska, who is originally from Slovakia but had been living in Co. Offaly at the time of the murder, made no comment as his sentence was handed down to him earlier this afternoon.

During his trial, in which he chose to take to the stand in his defence, the 33-year-old claimed that he was trying to ‘help’ Ashling, and argued that she had been attacked by another man.

As he delivered Puska’s sentence, Judge Mr Justice Tony Hunt described his future in prison as being "richly deserved".

During his victim impact statement in today's hearing, Ashling’s boyfriend Ryan Casey became emotional as he spoke of how he will “never get to marry her”.

"Because of you, I will have to carry on without her. Because of you, I will have to remember her longer than I've known her,” he directed towards Puska.

After attending the murder trial each day, Ashling’s immediate family spoke to the media last week and expressed their devastation at their loss.

"The judicial process cannot bring our darling Ashling back, nor can it heal our wounds, but we are relieved that this verdict delivers justice," Ashling’s brother Cathal Murphy stated.

"It is simply imperative that this vicious monster can never harm another woman again,” he added at the time.

Meghan Markle has returned to Hollywood!

Last night, The Duchess of Sussex mingled with an array of stars as she walked the red carpet at Variety’s Power of Women event.

The annual celebration, which highlights the accomplishments of women in the industry, was also attended by the likes of singer Billie Eilish, actress Emily Blunt and broadcaster Oprah Winfrey.

In an interview with Variety before the event, Meghan chose to reflect on her past and future relationship with the world of entertainment.

Meghan, who stunned in a pale pink dress and a slicked-back bun, stated that she was “thrilled” to be back in the world of Hollywood.

The 42-year-old, who shares son Archie (4) and daughter Lilibet (2) with the Duke of Sussex, then reflected on the recent rise in popularity of legal drama Suits.

Before she met her husband, Meghan starred on the show as Rachel Zane. The actress subsequently left the series for royal life in 2018.

The show concluded for good one year later, and since its arrival on Netflix, 45 billion minutes of Suits have been streamed.

“Isn’t it wild?” Meghan exclaimed about its growing popularity, before she was asked for the secret behind the “phenomenon”.

“I have no idea! It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit,” she recalled.

“But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting,” she added.

Meghan was then quizzed if she has any upcoming projects in the pipeline, following her Netflix docuseries debut with Prince Harry last year.

“We have so many exciting things on the slate,” she teased, concluding: “I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating. My husband is loving it too, which is really fun.”

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has revealed that Ireland is ‘on target to eliminate’ cervical cancer by 2040.

The announcement came this morning as the Minister marked Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action, a global initiative to eliminate cervical cancer.

Currently, in Ireland, about 300 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year, and 90 will die from the disease.

The World Health Organisation has defined the ‘elimination of cervical cancer’ as fewer than 4 cases per 100,000 women, making cervical cancer rare. This would reduce the number of cases to the extent that it would no longer be a public health problem.

Looking at data in Ireland, including HPV vaccination rates, screening coverage and population data, it has been revealed that Ireland can reach this goal by 2040.

Speaking about the finding, Minister Donnelly explained, “Today is a significant day, not just for women’s health, but for the health of our population. We can now say that babies born today will reach adulthood in an Ireland where we expect to have eliminated cervical cancer”.

“HPV vaccination for boys and girls is a game-changer on our road to elimination, and I’m proud that Ireland was one of the first countries to introduce HPV vaccination through the National Immunisation Programme in 2010, as well as being among the first to adopt HPV cervical screening in 2020”.

Donnelly continued, “We are now in a strong position to exceed the WHO global targets by announcing 2040 as the date on which we expect to achieve elimination in Ireland”.

“The remarkable progress to date illustrates significant work on the National Cancer Strategy goals of cancer prevention, early detection and access to timely treatment, which is helping to save lives and improve health”.

A new roadmap has been published to show Ireland’s next steps, which will start with a national public consultation in 2024. This will develop an action plan to ensure Ireland is on track to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem by 2040.

Now that the news of their relationship is out, Matt admitted, “It's going to be nice going places and being able to hold hands without having to worry anymore. Shona agreed by adding, “We're excited to be free”.
