The devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria in the early hours of Monday have affected hundreds of thousands of people in the two countries. 

After the initial 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck in the Kahramanmaras region of Turkey while people were sleeping, a second measuring a magnitude of 7.6 hit the same area a few hours later. Tremors from the quakes could be felt by people over 1,000km away from the epicentre. 

The death toll of the quakes have now surpassed 11,000 people, with over 15,000 left injured. 

Damage to buildings have been widespread with many people still trapped under rubble, awaiting rescue. 

Humanitarian organisations and charities are doing all they can to support those affected by the quakes including supplying emergency supplies, food, water, heaters, blankets and hygiene kits. 

Many of these charities are appealing to the public to donate in order to support their efforts to help the victims of this devastating earthquake. Consider donating what you can to these relief efforts. We have found a list of charities you can donate to from Ireland, but there are many more that need support. 

Concern

Concern WorldWide is working on supplying blankets and heaters close to the epicentre of the earthquakes in southern Turkey, as well as food and water. They are also opening community centres in areas that are deemed safe so families have a place to sleep. To donate click here.

UNICEF

UNICEF teams are tirelessly working to provide children and families with emergency supplies such as first aid kits to help those injured, emergency food, hot meals and blankets. To donate click here.

Irish Red Cross 

The Irish Red Cross are working with their partners at the Turkish Red Crescent and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to provide search and rescue support as well as food, shelter, water and medicine. Blankets and tents have also been delivered and psychological first aid is being provided to the most vulnerable communities. To donate click here.

Trócaire

One of our all-time favorite guest appearances on Friends was Reese Witherspoon, and now the Hollywood icon has been spilling some new details about her time on the show!

The Legally Blonde actress famously starred in a two-parter episode in the show’s sixth season. Reese played Jill Green, the spoiled younger sister of Rachel Green (played by Jennifer Aniston).

During an interview on the American talk show Late Night With Seth Meyers last night, Reese was asked about her infamous Friends appearance. 

Presenter Seth Meyers queried whether or not Reese remembered walking onto the Friends set for the very first time, at the height of its popularity. 

“Oh, my gosh, yeah, so I was terrified. My body was there, and my head and my brain was somewhere else,” the 46-year-old replied.

“I just had a baby,” Reese recalled further, “so that's how I know it was 23 years ago, because now my baby is 23,” she added, referring to her eldest child and daughter, Ava.

Reece then also detailed how her co-star and on-screen sister, Jennifer Aniston, offered her some heartwarming advice when she could tell that the young actress was nervous.

“I was terrified, but Aniston was so sweet to me, she was like, ‘They don't care if you mess up. They actually like it better when you mess up'”, Reese shared.

It seems as though Reece formed a budding friendship with Jennifer during her brief stint on Friends, as the pair have since gone on to form a successful working relationship together. 

Most recently, the two actresses have been starring in Apple TV+’s drama The Morning Show. Filming for the third season of the hit show is currently ongoing, and it is expected to premiere later this year. 

Reese was appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers to promote her new Netflix film, titled Your Place Or Mine. The rom-com, which also stars Ashton Kutcher, is due to be released on the streaming service this Friday, February 10.

Kelly Fitzsimons is now a mum-of-two!

The Dublin-based influencer has welcomed her second child alongside her husband Mark. Kelly is already a mum to a 12-year-old daughter named Ella May, and now she has added a baby boy to her family. 

Kelly decided to share the heartwarming news of her little one’s arrival earlier today. Taking to Instagram, the mum-of-two shared a beautiful snap of herself in her room at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin, cradling her new bundle of joy.

The 32-year-old decided to simply caption the image with the date of her baby boy’s birth – yesterday, February 7 – alongside a blue heart emoji.

Kelly and Mark have yet to share the name that they have decided to give their newborn son.

Since revealing her wonderful news, Kelly has received a flood of congratulations and well wishes from fellow Irish influencers.

“Kelly I’m gonna scream!!!!!”, exclaimed Fionnuala Jay. “So cute! Congrats to ye x”.

“Oh Kelly!!!!!”, replied Lynn Kelly. “Massive congratulations to you all”.

“Awwww congratulations”, wrote Gina Daly. “little beauty”.

Kelly and Mark initially announced their pregnancy in July of last year, after revealing that they had been trying for a baby for a few years.

“After years of waiting, negative tests & disappointment our little miracle will finally be joining us in 2023,” Kelly gushed in her pregnancy announcement at the time, sharing that she had been going through IVF treatment.

“We were given a lot of magic, no embryos from our round needed, I feel like we’ve won the lotto, you couldn’t write it,” she added sweetly.

Kelly and her longtime sweetheart Mark tied the knot in May of last year, after getting engaged in November 2017. The couple had had their wedding postponed for a few years as a result of the Covid pandemic restrictions.

Congratulations to Kelly and Mark on the birth of their baby boy!

Why should you use a facial sunscreen when travelling?

There are so many reasons to make sure you’re keeping yourself protected from the negative effects of the sun at most times of the year. However, there is even more reason to proactively plan out your sun protection when travelling. Why? We tend to be outdoors for most of the day and have a lot more exposure to the sun than we likely would in our normal day to day lives. No matter the season you’re travelling, it can seriously pay to pop on a little face sunscreen before you pound the pavement, relax on the beach, or hit the slopes on your next vacation.

When to pack a sunscreen in your suitcase?

Travelling in winter and wondering why you’d both packing a sunscreen? Hold that thought. The general ‘rule’ if you will is to use a sunscreen when the UV index is 3 or higher. Confused about what the UV index is? It’s a scale that measures low to extreme levels of UV rays to help give people guidance on how weak or harsh the sun is that day. You can find out the UV index of your location by simply searching online or opening your weather app, but remember the rating can change depending on the time of day too. If that all seems too confusing and time consuming, play it safe and just apply a facial sunscreen every morning (reapplying every 2 hours) so you’re protected.

Features to look for in your sunscreen for travel?

When it comes to choosing a sunscreen specific for travel, here’s some features to consider:

– Size:

Consider opting for a mini or travel friendly size if you’re taking carry-on luggage only. Remember anything 100ml or less is required to get past security scans at the airport and we’d hate for your expensive sunscreen to be taken off you! Driving or arriving via the train/bus? Take your regular size!

– Expiry date

Before reaching for the crusty sunscreen bottle at the back of your bathroom cupboard, remember that you should replace your lotion every year. The reason? Sunscreen generally has about a 1 year lifespan and does expire!

– Finish

Heading somewhere this summer? Consider opting for a matte finish if it’s somewhere tropical and humid so you can regulate your levels of ‘glow’ throughout the day.

– SPF level

Ditch the SPF15 products and choose SPF30 and higher such as an SPF50+. You want a broad spectrum sunscreen too that protects you against both UVA and UVB.

 

Ready to pack your bag for your next holiday? As well as your sunscreen, don’t forget to pack a broad brimmed hat, protective clothing, sunglasses, and do your best to opt for shade rather than direct sun where possible.

Congratulations are in order for Gemma Arterton and her husband Rory Keenan as the pair have welcomed their first child into the world together. 

Gemma announced the exciting news this morning when speaking on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 show, revealing that she had a baby boy.

After Zoe congratulated her on the newest member of her family, the Quantum of Solace Bond girl confirmed, “Yes, I just had a baby. We are very, very happy”.

Arterton, who keeps her life very private and away from social media, then shared that her bundle of joy made his appearance into the world before Christmas. “He was born just before Christmas. A little Christmas elf”.

Gemma revealed she was expecting her first child back in November when she attended the Raindance Film Festival awards in London.

The Tamara Drewe star stunned on the red carpet as she wore a floor-length black gown that hugged her blossoming baby bump. When posing for pictures, the 37-year-old highlighted her bump by lovingly cradling it.

Gemma and her Peaky Blinders star husband, Rory, first met when they both performed together in the play St. Joan by George Bernard Shaw in the West End in 2017.

The couple then went on to tie the knot in a private ceremony in County Wicklow in September 2019.

When speaking to The Telegraph in 2018, Gemma was unsure about having children and how becoming a mum would affect her life and career. 

She explained, “I’m a neurotic person and a worrier anyway, and I think, ‘Oh God, when I have kids am I still going to be able to do all this?’. When we were kids my mum and my grandmother didn’t work, and I think that made them sad. That has influenced me”.

We wish Gemma and Rory all the best as they embark on this new journey together as a family-of-three!

The star-studded lineup for this year’s celebrity series of The Great British Bake Off has been announced, and it seems like fans couldn’t be more delighted with it!

Last night, the producers of the highly-popular Channel 4 show revealed the 20 famous faces who will be entering the infamous white tent – and one of them is a Friends star!

Actor David Schwimmer, who is best known for playing Ross Geller in the beloved American sitcom, will be donning an apron and taking part in the charity special.

Fans have already expressed amazement at David’s inclusion in the series, with former Bake Off contestant Martha Collinson teasing: “I desperately hope you do the fajita technical with Ross in the tent!”.

“I hope David Schwimmer makes Rachel’s English trifle”, added Helena Garcia, who also appeared in Bake Off in 2019.

Alongside David, fans can also expect to see the likes of Olympic swimmer Tom Daley, presenter and Strictly finalist AJ Odudu, reality star Gemma Collins and Starstruck comedian Rose Matafeo.

Ted Lasso actress Ellie Taylor, former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, Loose Women panellist Judi Love, and Top Gear presenter Paddy McGuinness will also be entering the tent in an effort to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood and become Star Baker.

Included in the lineup will be actress and comedian Lucy Beaumont, King Gary star Tom Davis, The Royle Family actress Jessica Hynes, poet Tim Key, The Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas, comedian Michael Wozniak and The Repair Shop star Jay Blades.

Rounding up the celebs will be Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Deborah Meaden, Sherwood actor David Morrissey, Loose Women star Coleen Nolan, and radio presenter Adele Roberts, who revealed in June of last year that she is cancer-free following a bowel cancer diagnosis.

The celeb-filled series is all in aid of Stand Up 2 Cancer, which aims to raise life-changing funds to help find a cure for cancer.

As of yet, we still do not know who will be presenting Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding, following Matt Lucas’ surprise departure from the show in December. However, it is strongly believed that the new host will make their debut for this brand-new celeb series.

The producers of Bake Off have confirmed that the new series will begin to air "soon", with fans anticipating it to begin sometime next month. How exciting!

Heather Rae El Moussa is enjoying life as a mum!

The Selling Sunset star gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, with her husband Tarek El Moussa one week ago. 

Since the arrival of her new bundle of joy, the 35-year-old has so far refrained from sharing the name she and Tarek have chosen for him.

Taking to Instagram last night, the new mum continued to tease her baby son’s name, as she shared a hilarious photo of Tarek asleep in her hospital bed. In a second snap, he can also be seen gazing adoringly at his little one.

“Twinning!! He has daddy’s big feet”, Heather joked at the beginning of her caption to her 3M Instagram followers.

“He’s one week old today!!”, the real estate star continued to gush. “Can’t wait to share the birth story and more photos, but for now we’re just enjoying the moments we are sharing as a family and all of his firsts…”.

After sharing the adorable images, Heather has received lots of heartwarming replies in her comments section

“Hey where did this photo come from!!!”, Tarek teased in response.

“Can’t wait to meet him!!”, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County star Casey Beau Brown added.

“Why are the men always so tired after birth?”, another follower joked with a cry-laughing emoji.

Heather and Tarek initially announced the arrival of their baby boy last week on February 3, confirming that Heather had given birth on January 31.

“Our baby boy is here,” the couple penned in their joint caption at the time. 

“Mama & baby are happy, healthy, tired but doing well. Our hearts are so happy,” Heather and Tarek added.

The couple had been incredibly open in the past about their fertility struggles and their journey with IVF before falling pregnant. 

The pair's baby boy marks their first child together and joins Tarek’s two older children – 12-year-old Taylor and seven-year-old Brayden – who Heather is a stepmum to.

We can’t wait to hopefully find out their baby boy’s name very soon!

Brian Dowling and his beloved sister are heading away on a trip together. 

The former Big Brother winner revealed he and Aoife will be jetting off to ‘make memories for life’ and has been transparent about ‘dad guilt’ as he leaves his daughter in the caring hands of her other dad, Arthur Gourounlian. 

Brian took to Instagram to share a gorgeous photo of him and Aoife at Dublin airport sipping on some well-deserved mimosas before they caught their flight.

He explained, “Mimosas for EVERYONE @effidy_dowling_  We are so excited to be off on a little trip together. It’s somewhere I ADORE & Aoife has never been yet”.

“This trip has been a long time coming. Bring on the next few days of laughing, sightseeing, maybe 1 or 2 glasses of fizz & of course making memories for life”.

“The dad guilt is REAL & set in last night as I was packing. Full transparency this Mimosa is helping. Little Ms BDG is in safe hands with her papa @gourounlian. Good luck with the morning spoon feed”.

Many fans of the Ireland AM host headed to the comments to share their support with him, adding that there’s no need for him to feel guilty for spending a little time away from his daughter. 

One fan wrote, “Love your relationship! Don’t worry about the guilt – it’s important that parents get a break so when they come back they can enjoy the baby even more”.

Brian’s husband, Arthur, shared his own post about Brian and Aoife going on a trip while he gets to spend time with Blake on his own.

“And just like that, Papa and daughter will be rolling solo for the next few days as Daddy @bprdowling and Auntie @effidy_dowling_ are on their travels somewhere gorgeous. But you know what Blake and I have everything covered starting with our breakfast”.

“Have a safe trip guys and I can’t honestly wait to see what you gonna bring back for us. Blake and I are ready to be spoiled on your return”, the Dancing with the Stars judge jokingly added.

Brian and Aurthur welcomed their daughter Blake into the world in September of last year, with Aoife acting as the couple’s surrogate. 

After baby Blake was born, Brian shared the most heartfelt appreciation post for Aoife. He said, “Your dedication and focus has been out of this world… I think Dame Aoife Dowling have a FABULOUS ring to it”.

“You aren’t just my sister or Arthur’s sister-in-law you are AN ANGEL & also our BEST FRIEND. You DESERVE the WORLD & EVERYTHING YOU DESIRE”.

We hope Brian and Aoife have a lovely trip away.

The countdown is on!

Stacey Solomon has shared an exciting update on her pregnancy along with a heartwarming appreciation post for her baby bump. 

Posting two gorgeous mirror selfies of herself cradling her blossoming baby bump to her 5.5M Instagram followers, Stacey explained that she ‘has that feeling’ that her baby girl could be entering the world very soon. 

The 33-year-old penned, “Thank you for everything bump. Woken up with that feeling and so Just incase I don’t get the chance to say it tomorrow… I’m so grateful for them all”.

“For every single time you’ve done this”, she concluded. 

Many famous faces and pals of Stacey’s headed to the comments to share their excitement that the youngest ‘Pickle’ will be joining the world very soon. 

Cleaning influencer, Mrs Hinch, wrote, “Looking phenomenal as always”, while YouTuber Carys Whittaker who is also expecting at the moment wrote, “So emotional!!! This set me off, all the best Stacey, you got this mama”.

The Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts said, “Beautiful”. “You look incredible angel, love you”, added influencer Charlotte Greedy.

Solomon also shared the picture to her Instagram Stories, telling her followers again, “Just in case because I have that feeling”.

Stacey and Joe Swash revealed they were expecting again at the end of December and announced they’re having another little girl in January. The Tap to Tidy author explained, “So excited to share with you that we are going to be saying hello to another darling daughter soon”.

“The boys are so excited. And the thought of Rose having a little sister as well as all of her amazing big brothers has filled Our heart”.

Stacey and Joe’s new addition will be joining daughter Rose and their three-year-old son Rex. Stacey is also mum to 14-year-old Zachary and 10-year-old Leighton from previous relationships, while Joe has a 15-year-old son named Harry.

We’re wishing Stacey all the luck in the world for when her baby girl does arrive.

Claudia, who is the daughter of former motorcycle racer and 2014 I’m A Celeb winner Carl Fogarty, had been rumoured to be entering the villa over the past few days, and earlier today, her status as an Islander was officially confirmed.

In her pre-entrance interview, Claudia explained why she believes it is the right time for her to join the Love Island villa.

Claudia also revealed who she has her eye on in the villa. “Tom, I think he’s a really down-to-earth guy and he’s family orientated like me”

The incoming Islander stated that she’s not afraid to go for what she wants, but that she hopes to make a few friends. “I’m a confident person, I can be fiery when I want to be, but I’m a girls’ girl so I know I will get on well with all of them,” Claudia said.

As a reality TV star himself, Claudia’s dad Carl had a few departing words of advice for her. “My dad just told me to be myself, he said the one thing you can’t do is hide who you are, he said he loves who I am and everyone else will love me,” she beamed.

As shown in the first look for tonight’s episode, it appears that bombshell Claudia will gatecrash the other Islander’s annual heart rate challenge as a surprise, last-minute contestant. 

We can’t wait to see her entrance! Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two/ITV2.
