Mike Tindall has been sharing his experiences of baby loss with his wife Zara.

Zara, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, married Mike in 2011, and the couple welcomed their first child three years later.

Retired rugby player Mike was speaking on This Morning earlier today alongside his fellow rugby star James Haskell. The pair are currently promoting their upcoming tour of their popular podcast, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby.

During their interview, James began to tell presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that their podcast isn't solely focused on rugby, and that they are not afraid of tackling hard-hitting subjects.

"People turn around and say, 'Look, you know, I love being a parent, I have this difficult moment, this was great, this was hard,’” James explained. "Whatever it is, I think people then feel much more able to normalise all of it."

Mike then decided to open up about his and Zara's miscarriage. "Unfortunately, me and Zara went through a sort of baby loss,” the I’m A Celebrity star explained.

"The amount of people who wrote to me or got in touch is astronomical,” the 44-year-old recalled.

In his concluding thoughts, Mike emphasised that pregnancy is not always a simple journey. "Everyone assumes having a baby is easy and it's not,” he noted.

In December 2016, Zara experienced a miscarriage when she was five months pregnant. Their baby loss came just four weeks after they had announced that they were expecting a child.

The royal couple made their heartbreaking loss public on Christmas Eve of that year, as their spokesperson stated: “Very sadly, Zara and Mike Tindall have lost their baby. At this difficult time, we ask that everyone respects their privacy.”

Devastatingly, Zara then revealed in July 2018 that she had previously experienced a second miscarriage, shortly before falling pregnant with daughter Lena.

The couple continue to parent four-year-old Lena, as well as nine-year-old daughter Mia and one-year-old son Lucas.

As per tradition with each series of the ITV reality dating show, Love Island producers have released the official voting figures from last night’s grand final. However, fans of the show may be surprised by how close the final tally is.

Winners Kai and Sanam won with 44% of the vote, equating to over 343,000 votes in their favour.

Less than half (45%) of participants agreed that the day accurately reflects Irish culture and people. Also, more than half (53%) of Irish people feel that St. Patrick’s Day is more for tourists than for Irish people.

When asked about what people wanted celebrated more, 56% of Irish people responded that they want to celebrate ‘Our Friendliness’ and 54% want to celebrate ‘Our Welcome’. Other top traits people want to celebrate during St. Patrick’s Day included ‘Our Kindness’ (41%) and ‘Our Generous Nature’ (45%).

Through our #BeADaymaker initiative we hope to see the people of Ireland undertake acts of generosity, no matter how small”.

“While we understand that some people don’t feel that St. Patrick’s Day reflects Irish culture, we believe it’s an opportunity to show the world just how generous and friendly we really are through small but meaningful generous acts – this is why we are encouraging as many people as possible to Be a St. Patrick’s Daymaker”.

Whether it’s offering to do the shopping for an elderly neighbour, pointing a tourist in the right direction or showing your dad how to ‘TikTok’, Cadbury want to encourage and celebrate your generous nature this St. Patrick’s Day.

The leader of Sinn Féin has called out the Government’s removal of the eviction ban.

Mary Lou McDonald was speaking in New York last night, as she prepares to mark St. Patrick’s Day in the United States later this week. The decision to remove the ban was taken by Cabinet last week.

Whilst speaking to reporters, McDonald confirmed that her party intends to table a motion in the Dáil, calling for the eviction ban to be extended until January of next year.

“We absolutely appreciate that the ban on evictions is not in and of itself the answer to our housing crisis,” she explained.

“We know that it can’t be a permanent feature, but we also know that it is just irresponsible of a Government to move ahead, to take away this protection from renters and from so many people who are in a very, very vulnerable position. So I think common decency has to prevail here,” she added.

McDonald went on to question the Government directly in her statement. “Where do these families go when faced with a notice to quit, and eviction, and homelessness?”

“I want the Government to do the responsible and decent thing and not to throw families, thousands of them to the wolves,” she said.

The Sinn Féin president went on to note that if the eviction ban is to be removed, then the availability of emergency accommodation needs to be secured. “If you’re going to end an eviction, at a minimum you have to ensure that you have sufficient capacity in your emergency accommodation. That’s that’s your first thing,” she stated.

“What can be achieved in six or seven months? I think a lot can be achieved, if you have a Government that is focused, determined and accepts that we what we are living through is a crisis and an emergency,” McDonald added.

For now, it is looking likely that a vote on the eviction ban will be raised next Wednesday, one day after the Dáil is due to debate the issue.
